[00:00:00] Oh some huge kind of thing going into the finale and in the finale is most likely going to leave us with a cliffhanger. Even though this episode left us with a cliffhanger. Yes, honestly, the show itself has been like a roller coaster ride. So you start off on a roller coaster very slowly build up, get there, get your first to then go.
[00:01:42] I think we're at that point towards the season, every time we record, there's been a couple episodes where I was like, man, I just want to keep watching. I want to know what happened. And I've, this episode was not, was another no exception to that, where I watched this episode and I was like, Oh, I want to watch the next one. It's not there.
[00:03:00] But I can't, like, I can't, I can't watch episode drops on Friday, and then on Sunday we record to release on Monday. But if for some reason something happens over the course of the weekend, or we're having somebody on with us and it doesn't fit into that schedule, we can record before the episode airs,
[00:04:21] because we have the episode.
[00:04:24] That is why we get screeners,
[00:04:27] it's not to leave us either on a cliffhanger or a huge reveal of some sort.
[00:05:43] And then episode 10, I have a feeling is going to leave us on a cliffhanger.
[00:06:44] So that way we're engaged within the whole storyline and story arc of what's going on within a show.
[00:06:46] But, yeah, I think right now it's at that point where we're at the, I hate using Marvel
[00:06:52] terms, but endgame.
[00:06:55] So we're at that point.
[00:06:57] That term existed long before Marvel ever used it.
[00:06:59] So you're not, you're not using a Marvel term per se, Marvel popularized it with be awesome. Let's dive into the episode because there's some cool things that happen in this episode. We get sadly one of my theories is put to put the pasture. That is true. I know you talked about but but like slapping us in the face. So we've been predicting for a while that are theorizing for a while that Hiroshi is not Bill Randha's son. He there's a possibility that he's actually Lee Shaw's son. And that her Her mother. Okay. Okay. The grandmother I should say of Heroshi was taking care of him while Keiko was dealing with monarch stuff and then But we do get a little bit more with the romance of bill and Keiko through within that I think because through that story and everything else
[00:12:02] known for a long time that I trust you. And you can see it just in the way they look at each other.
[00:12:04] They're like, okay, this is the moment right here
[00:12:08] where Bill and Kay's relationship begins.
[00:12:11] Yes.
[00:12:12] And then you're right, we get to that moment,
[00:12:14] probably not long after where Bill rushes to K.K.O's house.
[00:12:19] She's telling him, as you said, like to keep your voice down.
[00:12:21] And we see the big reveal that Hiroshi is already born.
[00:12:26] Like he is, he's already part of her life, to keep your voice down. What were your thoughts? Like in your mind, what was the reasoning before Hiroshi was even revealed? Why is she telling him to keep his voice down? Because I thought it's because Shah was there. No, I thought maybe she found a bug from the government in her place.
[00:13:40] Oh, that's interesting. Yeah, because that seems more plausible, actually. love triangle thing and thinking like, oh, he needs to keep his voice down because Shaw's in the bedroom and he's not, and he's not supposed to know the bill is there. Like I'm playing right into the soap opera that is the Lee Shaw Kate love triangle. And then my mind is kind of like,
[00:15:00] oh neither one of them is the father of Hiroshi.
[00:15:03] Yeah.
[00:15:04] As soon as I saw the kid right away,
[00:15:05] I know right away, I was like, yeah, put that cookie down. Sorry. Um, God, I haven't watched that movie. It's so like, uh, but yeah, like it is, it is a trope of the whole, the parent you
[00:16:21] think is your parent is not a parent.
[00:16:23] So I kind of, I kind of appreciate's being seen through she through Shaw's eyes Yes, and they're having that conversation where you know bill is saying to Kay you know, it's
[00:17:40] Like I'm gonna teach him how to how to how to wear the tinfoil hat and talk about teleportation and portal holes. Yes. But speaking of portal holes, let's go into theory number two. We have been saying for a while and theorizing for a while that the reason why Shaw looks the way
[00:19:01] he does when he should be in his 90s is that he has been there. Yes. That's it. Yeah, because Lee is the one that wrote the letter.
[00:21:42] You had to do the debriefing in the report about it. Yeah.
[00:21:43] Okay.
[00:21:43] Yes.
[00:21:43] So Bill and Shaw returned home at that God. I can't see him.
[00:23:00] Everybody else died.
[00:23:01] But the funny is, the only people that, I wonder if you, I'm sure you probably did take notice of this.
[00:24:22] This portal seems different.
[00:24:24] Yes, there was other ones. It seems it is churning a little bit, but it's very calm compared to others. It seems just like a very faint yellow glow, as opposed to others, which I wonder if this is going to explain how they can survive this.
[00:25:41] Yeah.
[00:25:42] Because to anybody who has not seen God's Godzilla X Kong that's know, because you're right, in Godzilla X Kong, we do see that there are indigenous people that live down in Hollow Earth along with it. So they've probably been there for a long time. If Kay is down there, I'm sure she's not the only human down there, or if she is, that's a very jumanji-esque
[00:28:21] kind of thing.
[00:28:24] I have no doubt there are already people down there
[00:28:27] that are surviving. You know, Verdugo mentions that the gamma radiation, the gamma readings have increased that every other point on the map. There are new points on the map that were not there before. It looks like there's three or four of them. Yes. So it seems that not only does this, does closing off of vortex
[00:30:45] one just continuously is present and becomes an issue.
[00:30:47] But yeah, and it works in that same principle with these portals too, I think, as we were saying.
[00:30:51] So, I mean, it's almost as if like,
[00:30:53] even if he worked to cap off all of these vortexes
[00:30:57] somehow before a Titan can escape them,
[00:31:03] it still seems like it's going to do
[00:31:05] massive destruction to the case. This is a, this is basically a pocket dimension. This is, it's, and Kay puts it perfectly and the way she says it immediately made it made
[00:32:20] me think of Dr. Who.
[00:32:22] And I was like, okay, now it makes complete sense.
[00:32:25] When she talks about a house that's bigger on pocket dimension together and it's so below. Yeah. And yeah, my initial thought was the reason why people couldn't go down was very much if you go deep sea diving. You have to get repressurized. Yeah. And that's the whole point of those vehicles. That was the impression I had when I was watching the movies too.
[00:33:42] Like the first time I watched them is like, oh, I got it now. And then we could actually explain it to somebody else who does it now. Yeah. It's so funny to think about that. Like you could be talking to the writers and be like, I don't get it.
[00:35:02] It's a world within a world, but it's smaller, but it's bigger.
[00:35:05] And the writer literally just looks at you and in monarch, which is in the basement. So total X files thing where he has this crappy little office, but he said he inherited it from some crazy person. They're like, well, what's that hole in the wall? And we see later on, it's bill after he gets pissed off after the meeting with was a pocket and hatch or
[00:36:24] just hatch. I'm thinking, Oh, no, why not? Always thought that Goonies needed a sequel. Yes. Yes. Yes. That quote made me laugh. That quote made me laugh as well. And there's another quote. I love that Tim is kind of providing a little bit of like, I don't wanna say comic relief
[00:37:40] because he's not comic relief, but he's definitely
[00:37:44] adding a little bit of levity to this.
[00:37:46] Because another one of my favorite quotes But there's multiple versions of these. So I'm curious if there are more around within the building itself in large form, or they just went straight down into Hall of Earth. So I hate adding another theory to the mix. Good. But I'm going to add on to, and listeners might hear this and be like, okay, this is just
[00:39:03] ridiculous. Those titans, those beetle-like things that become these titans, weren't going to K to attack her, but were going to her because, like many creatures, they take to the first creature they see as their mother.
[00:40:23] They were going to her almost like a mother.
[00:41:21] not an insect.
[00:41:23] I don't know. The theory that you're bringing up
[00:41:25] kind of leads me to think of like what happens
[00:41:28] with whales with barnacle and these animals
[00:41:31] that cling to like a whale itself, not as a mother.
[00:41:36] Well, no, I'm thinking more along the lines of like
[00:41:40] when you breed a tiger in captivity,
[00:42:41] probably totally off the wall. I'm thinking you are, but it's a good theory.
[00:42:46] Everybody make a tin foil hat and send it to Ben.
[00:42:48] Yeah.
[00:42:49] You can send it to my PO box, it's fine.
[00:42:54] I need to wrap kitchen leftovers anyway.
[00:42:58] Again, that was just a weird theory that I had.
[00:43:00] It is a weird theory, but I don't think it's solid,
[00:43:02] but we'll see.
[00:43:03] It is a weird theory.
[00:43:06] It's not true at all, we're going forward and we get these little snippets of him and Kate
[00:44:21] and how he goes, you saw it in his eyes.
[00:44:23] He's not the destruct way that Keiko did in that Godzilla is the guardian at the gate. He is there to keep these things in check.
[00:46:45] We know about Godzilla. So we got three that are pretty much guardians of this
[00:46:47] world You think we're gonna see mothra again in Godzilla X con I have a funny feeling I
[00:46:53] Hope so
[00:46:55] Cuz I thought that was I thought that was awesome to see mothra
[00:46:59] Cuz you know better than I do in the original
[00:47:04] You know Toho Godzilla's mmm was there
[00:48:09] mentioned Kong. They will fight alongside each other if need be, but it doesn't mean they get along. True. It's more mutual respect for what needs to be done.
[00:48:17] Exactly. Very much like Godzilla and Kong, when Godzilla doesn't have to fight. But then, in Shaw's mind, what's the means to the end here?
[00:49:42] What happens to Godzilla then at that point? what we know as fans of this timeline and of people who have already watched these movies. Shaw's plan is kind of for not because Rodan isn't even from this earth.
[00:51:00] Yes. So, closing off all these portals, you know, again, you're harming more of everything than anything else. Yeah. I mean, and that's to say like, okay, what? Okay.
[00:52:20] So let's say Lee's plan goes through.
[00:52:21] He closes off all these vortexes.
[00:52:23] He seals off Godzilla in them as well.
[00:52:26] Yeah. Sorry, you sliced your leg open. Well, let me wrap it in this gauze. Okay, now what? I still need to heal. Like, you know, I still need to go to a hospital. Gause is not going to save my life. Well, yeah, he's simply dressing the wound. He's not healing it.
[00:53:41] Yeah, yeah.
[00:53:42] And then something that Tim would say to him,
[00:53:44] probably like, hey, you need to go back
[00:53:46] to 10 foil hat land.
[00:54:45] whole in the paper in the map and they'll go inside and he realizes it and then their theory comes true.
[00:54:49] It is kind of sad to think about though, the fact that if Kay is still alive, if she is
[00:54:57] in Hollow Earth and Shaw and Kate and May are Kay is still alive, but it's going to be really sad if she is. What I really would like to see is, and we haven't spoken to him about, we only talked about him as a kid lately, but we did get to see him last episode is Hiroshi.
[00:56:22] He was waving them on the last can Kay walk amongst the Beatles, but
[00:57:42] Heroshi can too.
[00:57:45] It's gone too far.
[00:57:46] No, I do like the idea's any other reason for it. Real quick, I love when Lee meets Colonel Puckett and shows him all the information that Bill and Kay put together for him and saying that Hatch is not only up and up.
[00:59:02] I love that he says, salute's Puckett, says It really helps to distinguish when you are jumping to different times. Yeah. The fact that they're father and son and they look a lot alike and their
[01:00:20] voice is a very similar to, but they're playing the same character, but
[01:00:25] very different points of that character from two different timelines.
[01:01:27] conversation. The only thing that I would like to say is those of you are fans of the show and love Kersey Clemens. I was just watching this before we started recording earlier before
[01:01:32] I had like a bunch of phone calls. It's a movie that came out in February of this year.
[01:01:37] Well, right now it's this year 2023 because this is New Year's Eve.
[01:01:42] Well, no, well, at the time they're listening to Heartspeed Loud as her homework. So on the next episode of MovieSwap, which we're going to record next week, I'm going to get her thoughts on Heartspeed Loud because she's never seen it before. Cool.
[01:03:00] So, and then she gave me shit. season yet. Well, I think what Game of Thrones used to hold the record when that was that did. Yes. Yeah. When it was popular now. Game of Thrones used to be one of the most most pirated shows like of all time. Yeah. So yeah, that was how a mark when he brought that.
[01:04:20] Yeah. And I was telling Mark when when he told me about that, I was like, that's better back in the day in the 80s when you had to wait a year and a half to comes out on VHS just a rent. Oh, you mean the time where if you wanted to rent a movie on VHS, it was a couple dollars. But if you wanted to buy it, it was like 200. Yep. I never got that. It's like, oh, to rent this movie, it's $4.99.
[01:05:40] What if I want to buy it? $199.
[01:05:43] What? The answers are not great. Kind of confirmed my concern of he's trying to close all these portals. He knows. He knows the moodos were up here when they hatched. And so it makes no sense that he's closing these portals. We still have them up here. And also stop micromanaging Godzilla. He's been managing this very well for a very, very long time.
[01:07:03] And so this is not a great answer, especially from a military guy. I'm like, what is happening right now? So yeah, and I thought, you know, the little side plot with Caco's son and Hiroshi's heritage was kind of interesting and just shows how brave and
[01:08:23] smart and strong Caco is. I mean, when you trust him to do the job without help, he destroys San Francisco, but still trust Godzilla. Yeah. I'm gonna create a t-shirt that just says in Godzilla, I trust. Or in Godzilla, we trust. Trust in Godzilla.
[01:09:41] And they'll probably sell. I'm not gonna lie, they would probably sell.
[01:09:43] Probably.
[01:09:46] And Sam, your tinfoil hat theory thought that he could have found love again or remarried. For me, I kind of think he was probably a little obsessed to the point where he probably never did. Yeah. So I don't know if there's any credence to Tim being Bill's son. Yeah. I also think of it too.
[01:11:00] It's like if you look at him and how he was acting
[01:11:03] within Kong Skull Island, John Goodman's character,
[01:11:06] that's the last one. And that of course is from our friend Steve. Hello, Ben and Mark. This is Steve, and this is gonna be for Monarch season one,
[01:12:20] episode eight, birthright.
[01:12:23] Okay, so that was just Bill and Keko talking
[01:12:25] about little Orochi, right?
[01:12:27] And Lee was in the Hollow Earth.
[01:13:42] Okay, so some of these theories are blown out of the water.
[01:13:44] I think if Hiroshi was born before Watch it now, but I usually wait until the episode releases, so I'm going to continue to do that. Once again, thank you to Apple TV for allowing us the screeners and allowing us the opportunity to cover the series. Mark, before we head out, where can people find you? Oh, that's easy.
