[00:00:00] Oh as five, but it was not nearly as weak as four. And that's not saying much because that was a very low bar. Oh yeah. It was a very low bar. Yeah, I felt that this particular episode gave us something that we've been lacking, which is the flashbacks and the flash forwards
[00:01:41] or present day and then previous with the Lee, Kaco,
[00:01:46] and Bell, which we get to see them in two different timelines.
[00:03:00] We get more about Monarch and their associations
[00:03:05] and who they talk to as far as with the military, I did notice one or two Easter eggs in this one that I'm very curious if you picked up one. So when we get to them, we'll question that. And I do have one nitpick of this episode as well. I will say that the second half of this episode was definitely better than the first.
[00:04:21] Yes.
[00:04:21] But they were two completely different types of stories. she looks in that dress and I love the line that if Bill were there, he wouldn't look nearly as good in that dress. That gave me a nice chuckle. But it leads into this whole thing where there's a moment where they are about to go upstairs. They are about to go to the hotel. Yes. The hotel room. And then Bill sends somebody with a telegram.
[00:05:42] Yeah.
[00:05:43] And I'm loving it because I'm watching this and I'm her even during with the dance. Her hand is on his arm and then he moves it straight up to the shoulder where you're supposed to do it as a proper. And then he does the whole dipping thing with her, which, but it also is against a lot
[00:07:00] of what, you know, the, what was it I think it's more to make sure she's okay, because they're going to be trying to tease a Titan.
[00:08:20] But at the same time, at that dance, you know, at the same time at the nail sticks up, you hammer it down, which is very much a resonance of her culture and what she grew up on. Also, that was also a jab, pretty much, about comes to that. So that's why, you know, she gets the whole remark of like, Oh, Morrow, that's a, a Mararo, whatever her last name is. Um, you know, that's Japanese, isn't it? And that's when Puckett's like, Oh, she's one of the good ones. Like they still have to defend that. Yeah. Because that stigma still sticks.
[00:11:01] It's still there. And oddly enough, even after all these years to even in America now,
[00:11:05] some people still feel that way, which is sucky.
[00:12:02] In the back of my mind, I'm like, he's gonna say making them. He's gonna say making them.
[00:12:04] He's gonna say making them.
[00:12:06] And the next word's out of her mouth is making them.
[00:12:08] I'm like, oh, Jesus Christ, I call that one.
[00:12:12] But that's what leads to the moment of
[00:12:13] they were going to take this up to the hotel room.
[00:12:18] But yeah, I'm still calling,
[00:12:21] I'm still sticking to the theory that
[00:13:27] And it's a good quote, but I'll just throw it in there because this is built a Suzuki after Bill arrives and sees Keiko's reaction to see Lee's presence in Suzuki's
[00:13:32] excitement and telling Lee about the gamma simulator which we'll get to
[00:13:36] He goes hey, Zuk. It's not just you know the only thing worse than being a third wheel
[00:13:42] Being a force let's walk
[00:14:50] The question is, or am I thinking now, maybe Bill and Keiko are not together yet at this point.
[00:14:51] Is there a relationship between them?
[00:14:53] Because why would he consider himself a third wheel?
[00:14:59] Unless there was no relationship between them yet, but when they finally kiss on screen, they're not hiding it.
[00:16:20] They are out in the open where like where Bill could see them, where Suzuki could see them.
[00:16:26] They're not salmon Diane from Cheers. And then, and at this point, Bill is the Fraser Crane. And then, you know, at some point doctor, but yet she still had Rory. Oh, wow. I went the complete river song route with you. Yeah, you went the whole complete opposite. So if we lost you folks and you're not moving, I'm sorry. Sorry. If you're not who you are, totally lost in that conversation.
[00:19:05] So yeah, so there's definitely a lot an Easter egg to something from Tahoe. It's not something that they usually mention. I'm trying to find it in my notes of what the, well, basically, my thought was literally just to explain to everybody who didn't really get it. It's a communication device. He wants to reach out and touch a Titan and all that good stuff. And then I just love how Bill goes. So you made Titan bait.
[00:21:41] Literally. Yeah, accurately.
[00:21:43] Yeah.
[00:21:43] And we do see the result of Like, that's pretty much the what happened with Godzilla at that point. He fed on that radiation and then went to sleep.
[00:23:01] It was like nothing.
[00:23:02] It's a blast in the face.
[00:23:03] I'm going to cost innocent lives. Correct. Well, it's bad enough that the Titans himself do cause the same issues. And this is something I brought up a couple of times when we podcasted about this. Anytime there's a Titan event, whether it be Godzilla or any other Titan or both combined,
[00:24:21] if you look at the destruction that's in there world and how we're at war and things of that nature, we're still destructive.
[00:25:41] So we're just as a threat to ourselves as even these titans.
[00:25:44] And I think that's what Lee was trying to do. ghost. It's a ghost city. It is in it is in ruins. We've seen as they because they let these monsters fight. So now, of course, yes, there is a fear that we have to stop these titans before it ever comes to this again. You know, but if you if you're the US military and you throw everything you have at a Titan and you can't stop it.
[00:27:03] What's the only thing that can stop a Titan physics are wrong. This 100% plays into my theory that there is some place on or in this planet that slows down time. This is the reason this line plays into the reason why Lee Shaw looks as good as he does
[00:29:22] You know, you had dinosaurs everything and
[00:29:26] Within that time standstill
[00:29:32] Just as you state so it makes me think this is legendaries idea of
[00:29:36] Journey to the center of the earth
[00:29:41] Well, I mean think of think about the even if you think about physics
[00:29:45] Actually being correct if you think about this if you think about how
[00:29:48] if you were to which we know exists thanks to God's Elivesus Kong, time slows down because as does the rotation, believe me, this makes sense in my head. The further into the earth that you go that slower time is going to get.
[00:31:01] And I think that is,
[00:31:02] I think we're building to eventually,
[00:32:04] because when you are on the surface down in the hollow earth, there is a surface above and a surface below.
[00:32:07] Correct.
[00:32:07] You can look up and see another surface
[00:32:12] that you can walk on.
[00:32:14] Yeah.
[00:32:15] Because gravity works differently in the hollow earth.
[00:32:19] Yeah.
[00:32:20] So I think, again, it's kind of the similar thing to how,
[00:32:22] like, you know, if you approach a black hole,
[00:32:25] even time tends to be sucked into time itself But I agree with you, but that also adds credence into the theory that Keiko survived. Because if that whole that she fell into goes down to the hollow earth, then her descent her fall would be slow. Should not be. Yeah, exactly. She would be hated. Exactly. Her descent would slow down as she approaches the bottom.
[00:33:43] Correct.
[00:33:44] Giving her the ability to survive.
[00:33:48] Yep. up. My nitpick of the episode comes from Kate. Okay. And it's one particular moment. We have seen looking Godzilla in the eye and maybe she sees in that moment that he is not as dangerous. I mean, he is a freaking Titan. He's absolutely, whether he's a guardian or not, he is absolutely dangerous.
[00:36:20] But maybe she sees in that moment
[00:36:23] that he is not the monster that she thinks he is. what Kate being like some sort of like, have this connection with Godzilla now? Well, I mean, the little girl in Kong, in Godzilla versus Kong who knew sign language. Like that's understandable because Kong is an ape.
[00:37:40] He is a primate, even though he's a titan,
[00:37:42] he is still a primate and primates do understand
[00:37:46] human language and sign language. the way. He doesn't see that. He is a monster. And I don't if they're trying to, if in this moment of Kate being calm, they're trying to build some kind of connection between Kate Godzilla, I don't want to see it. I prefer Godzilla being the monster
[00:39:00] that he is. That's the Godzilla that we know. Yeah, the the
[00:39:04] un well, knowledgeable savior of the earth. I like to call it.
[00:40:06] versus Kong came about because that's what Kong instinctively was meant to do. He saw another Titan and his instinct was to stop it. That's why they fought. It wasn't until
[00:40:13] the end of the fight that there was a mutual respect between the two of them. But the
[00:40:20] first instinct was to fight. They weren eye to overcome her fear, okay, then why are you still calling Lee crazy for wanting to help him? Yeah. Like if you're not afraid of Godzilla anymore, why would you not want to go with Lee? Because you've overcome your fear. If you're not going with him and you're calling him crazy, you're definitely still afraid of him.
[00:41:42] So what were they trying to achieve in that's what really spawns through it.
[00:44:01] little place to lay down.
[00:44:03] To bed lays down.
[00:44:06] Yeah, he lays down and just the earth kind of just covers him.
[00:44:09] You know, in over the course of the
[00:44:10] year or so that this has happened.
[00:44:14] And he or he maybe just borrowed a
[00:44:16] little bit under the ground.
[00:44:18] Correct.
[00:44:19] I don't he's not like hollow
[00:44:21] earth that piece maybe a couple
[00:44:23] yards under the ground.
[00:44:25] Yeah, I believe so too.
[00:44:26] That's how I felt about it.
[00:44:27] He's close to the surface.
[00:44:28] Yeah, but now the question is, now the issue is, now that Godzilla's awake and you weren't feeding him. Where's he going?
[00:45:40] He's now going to look for food.
[00:45:43] He's going to look and what he feeds on is radiation.
[00:45:46] He doesn't feed on people like a dragon. I think he, I think Hiroshi led them away from where civilization was. I'm hoping so too. Yeah. You know, because Lita, well, I think we would have already seen the devastation. Yeah. Godzilla would have gotten there first. Oh, yeah. When the episode ended and the kind of like panned out and we saw that city in the background, which is where Kate can tell you not see any destruction or anything.
[00:47:01] There's no destruction.
[00:47:02] I think I think Hiroshi led plan Was it always to lead him away like I I don't know hopefully we're gonna find out more about that soon Oh, I think the idea of the Titan phone through monarch and for the government
[00:48:21] Yeah, because they are in control of monarch is to utilize the Titans almost as weapons
[00:49:27] look out to the skies for other things for cosmic reasons. This is something that I had notated myself about because it just gives me vibes because even with the God's little
[00:49:33] king of the monsters, Gidorah who we know, he checked the crash and there were no survivors. Oh, Tim survived. Oh, yes, he's got to. I mean, it's the whole trope of if it didn't happen on screen, it didn't happen.
[00:51:00] If I didn't see it, didn't happen.
[00:51:02] We've been claiming Keiko was still alive
[00:51:04] for the same exact reason.
[00:51:06] Like we didn't see her hit the show. We all know a lot of theories with the show. In fact, I have another theory about the show too. And I'm wondering, I think Michelle Duvall is a double agent, I see. As soon as you said that, I knew where you were going because I remembered French. I would not be surprised if that is the case.
[00:53:44] And Michelle Duvall is the sister of Sandra from Godzilla 2014.
[00:53:46] I believe it. Monarch. I saw an article is looking it up and it says, will there be a season two of Monarch and it says Monarch season two gets scrapped and I'm like, how does that happen? And it says Monarch would show it would start Trace Adkins, Susan Sarandon they were led to believe that Tim is the reason they found where they were at, which he probably contributed to that. But I think Duvall had something to do with it too.
[00:56:22] I think so. I think you're correct. is like a kind of a clue to Hollow Earth. In a sense, the Titans are going down on the ground and coming up and God's also able to pop up at any given moment. They also factor in certain points of where there is gamma points. So they got Central Asia, Cambodia, and Algeria,
[00:57:41] which we do see them at some point at the very end.
[00:57:45] Well, well, not only that,
[00:57:47] but look at what we saw in Alaska the only thing I have left would be a few quotes. Yeah, go for it. This would be Bill about Suzuki when Suzuki talks about, he goes, welcome to Monster Island. And he goes, well, someone should have a talk to the board of tourism. Oh, I didn't even hear that line.
[00:59:00] I didn't even hear that line.
[01:00:06] Um, cause I'm, I, there's, he says like this, all this stuff is they're walking away.
[01:00:11] And it's, it's so like it made me chuckle because I knew that's what it was.
[01:00:14] Um, let's see. Hold on.
[01:00:14] Uh, Oh, wow.
[01:00:18] Nope.
[01:00:18] I think we're, oh, oh yeah.
[01:00:20] So, uh, it's, it's right here.
[01:00:22] He says, you know the only thing that's worth that worse than being a third wheel, being a fourth wheel.
[01:00:27] Let's walk.
[01:00:27] And then as they're walking away, Suzuki So let's play that now. Hi guys, it's Sam from Boston. Thank you so much for the information from the last episode that helped me. I did not realize that her partners have probably died. Oh, poor Kate and her survivors guilt. I think the show, for me at least, it's struggling what I see with a lot of US shows
[01:01:40] trying to do smaller seasons and it's the pacing
[01:01:44] because the US writers are used to like these 20,
[01:01:46] 22 episode shows and they're trying to replicate the story. I'm a little concerned that the writers are not as creative as the fans are. And it's sort of like this last season of Game of Thrones kind of thing. Like your theories guys are amazing. I would love to watch that. I want to see them find Keko in Middle Earth. I want it like, I am a little concerned that the main storyline for this season is we're
[01:03:04] going to see the creation of Monarch and in the desert that Barnes had found. Like, why are the humans micromanaging this? Because that monster didn't wake up Godzilla.
[01:04:21] Humans did.
[01:04:22] So I'm a little confused on why they felt
[01:04:24] that need to wake him up.
[01:04:25] Like, do they not trust Godzilla to wake up
[01:04:27] if there's more of these opening and for some reason Godzilla is the one that can close not. Yeah. Are we going to get it at the end of Monarch? Who knows? Who knows? You know, there might have been some kind of huge event that happens with Godzilla.
[01:07:02] You know, and it is the reason why Monarch is a public entity
[01:07:07] in God's looking at the monsters.
[01:08:08] So there has to be something that happens between Monarch 2015 and Godzilla, King of the Monsters, which was 2019, I believe. There's got to be something that happens on the timeline that makes
[01:08:16] Titans more known to the world. And I think that's probably what I think that's what this show is
[01:08:22] maybe building towards the end of this season So that Titans can't come up to the surface anymore. I don't know. We're getting way ahead. Way, way ahead. But I will say, Sam, if what you said is true in that our theories, nothing comes out of it and they don't do anything with them, I'm going to be
[01:09:42] very disappointed.
[01:09:43] Oh, yeah.
[01:09:44] I will be too as well. They could have easily just eliminated a lot. We already talked about how episode four could have not have happened at all and then could have extended three and then five and just narrowed it down. They could have easily done that even with this possibly with the next two episodes. Who knows? Yeah. So it's, you know, there's absolutely stuff that could have been trimmed out of this
[01:11:04] episode to trim it down. But again, I don't But there is a version of it online because I have it, where somebody actually took all six of them episodes of those episodes and trimmed it down to a two and a half hour long movie.
[01:12:23] It works. It is in a great movie. syndicated TV at one point. Now certain shows are at like 16 episodes per season or even 10 depending because of streaming content. Yeah, I mean, you know, just a prime example, I'm in the midst of a CSI rewatch right now, which is 15 seasons and I'm in season 10 at the moment.
[01:13:43] And you know, the season per minute, and it intriguing, but It doesn't work with every show. Yeah, I know so so we get the concern Sam and and and we get it And we feel it to the pacing is off sometimes But again, it's not the fault. It's not completely the fault of the writers. It's
[01:15:04] sometimes it's the writers trying to fulfill the demand of the production company and
[01:15:07] You know and that is what it is two because of the next two weeks being holidays, because we record these on Sundays and then release on Monday. Sunday and Monday of the next two weeks are Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day. We're going to be a little tighter on feedback. So feedback is going to be doing by Saturday night instead of Sunday. So we're going to
[01:16:21] do a quick turnaround on feedback for the next two weeks because of the holidays. Episodes 1995 so he he is long past our second Godzilla man in suit from Tahoe has passed away, so we have to thank mr. Satsuma for his work and what he had done and If you guys want to remember him in any way Oh, just go to Pluto TV and just watch everything on the Godzilla channel and just give it a watch
[01:17:42] Because a lot of the stuff that came out between
[01:18:44] is an app that you could get for those two on those devices. And for people listening, it's free.
[01:18:47] There's no subscription.
[01:18:48] Correct.
[01:18:49] I mean, you can sign up so that you can favorite channels
[01:18:52] and organize your channels,
[01:18:54] but it is no cost, Pluto TV is completely free.
[01:18:58] It's commercial.
[01:18:59] And I know that's how they pay.
[01:19:02] That's how they keep it free.
[01:19:04] There's a Mystery Science Theater 3000 channel
[01:19:08] on Pluto TV. I'm a judge a lot of it. I would say a hundred almost a hundred percent of the Tahoe stuff is Going to be sub titled it's not gonna be dubbed That you know what I'm fine with that. I know you're fine But I have that's how the original Godzilla's should be yes. Yes, I I
[01:20:26] Know that and I was told that at my first G fest back in 1993 Action Pack movie I'm doing it not just for panels, but I'm also doing it for adrenaline So it's gonna be the same podcast for both both podcasts. So We're gonna be covering that so for you guys who don't know about the movie. I believe it came out in The like 2014 maybe 2010s. I'm not sure
[01:21:43] Exactly. I can't remember 2010. All me telling me about your Christmas traditions when it comes to movies and television. So what movies do you make sure you watch every year? What do you movies do you avoid? Is there particular times that you watch movies as part of a tradition?
[01:23:00] You know, your favorite Christmas movies,
[01:23:02] your favorite television episodes of Christmas specials.
[01:23:06] You know, whatever it may be it's a ton of fun.
[01:24:21] And I'm excited because I'm going to be on an episode at the end of the year that I don't
