[00:00:22] the action whether you're ready for a change or you just want to keep things rolling you were

[00:00:27] vote. E is your superpower. So put down the remote for just a second, check your voter registration

[00:00:33] and make sure you're ready to go for election day. Call up your friends, remind your family,

[00:00:39] and let's turn out like it's the biggest event of the year because at the end of the day

[00:00:45] it's not just about making noise. It's about making a difference. So let's get out there together

[00:00:51] and make it count this November. Now, settle in and enjoy the podcast.

[00:01:47] Joel Jones has brought to life some of the most unforgettable characters in movie history.

[00:01:51] And on this episode we'll be counting down our top five favorite James Earl Jones movies,

[00:01:57] celebrating the incredible performances that made him a true Hollywood icon. Joining me on this

[00:02:03] journey is someone who knows his movies just as well as I do. If not more, he's my great friend

[00:02:09] at co-host of the comic book guru's podcast. Please welcome Craig LeGons. Craig, welcome to Will Help.

[00:02:16] Ben, thank you so much for having me here. It's a pleasure to be with you once again. We always

[00:02:21] have a blast together. You do on our top five and I'm honored to be a part of this list

[00:02:26] and to be a part of this show. Thank you again. Yeah, not a problem. Um, yeah, last time

[00:02:32] you and I did something together we actually were doing it in front of an audience. We were at

[00:02:35] fan and both Philadelphia. Last year which was a lot of fun. Yeah, with a lot of fun because we

[00:02:43] had a lot of a lot of people to choose from. You know, we had so many stars at that fan expo

[00:02:50] that we were doing our top five for via, you know, John Carlos, Pazito and Tom Wilson and

[00:02:57] a lot of big name people but this guy that we're talking about today.

[00:03:04] And then nothing else, the stars that we've already talked to and about, but this guy

[00:03:09] embodied so many classic timeless moments in movie history and he strode among us for 93

[00:03:17] years. So a whole life and just generations upon generations worth of memories.

[00:03:24] Yeah, I mean, you know, the unfortunate news obviously if you haven't heard by now which I'm sure

[00:03:29] the whole world has is that, you know, James O'Jones has passed away at the age of 93 just a

[00:03:39] I actually deviated the original plan of the season premiere episode which this is was planned.

[00:03:46] I was planning on doing something different and I'm still recording that episode but I was like,

[00:03:50] man, like I he is such an iconic actor that I didn't make any sense or to not honor him and

[00:04:00] pay tribute to him as the season premiere of the season of Will Home this year. Most of that.

[00:04:05] I hate that we have to, I mean that your season premiere has to be about, you know, the passing of

[00:04:11] a legend but a chance to celebrate him more, you know, to end to give, in both memories or just

[00:04:21] to reminisce about all the greatness said he is that's a pleasure to do an even such a somber occasion.

[00:04:29] Yeah, I think you kind of hit the nail on the head too. Is that this isn't, you know, while

[00:04:34] this paying tribute to him by doing this, by talking about our top five favorite movies that he has

[00:04:40] done. That's what was some honorable mentions that will throw out there as well. You know it really

[00:04:45] is a celebration of his life by doing that so it's it's a great way to do that is by talking about

[00:04:51] his films talking about his filmography and talking about his legacy. Yeah, most definitely and we

[00:05:02] then even if it's a film that he was barely in or just, you know, one of many stars. He's

[00:05:11] you can't not, you can't miss games or a Jones. You can't not talk about him and even if it's

[00:05:18] just a walk in Camille or just a drive by as, or in a movie like Sandline and not to give

[00:05:32] a lot of people forgot that he was in, you know, when you think of the Sandline you think of

[00:05:36] the kids and you know, you're killing me smalls. But no, if the movie doesn't have the hard to

[00:05:43] does without James Earl Jones. Yeah, I mean, you mentioned so many iconic, you know, so many roles

[00:05:49] that he is a part of and a lot of people don't realize how many how many movies he's actually

[00:05:55] been a part of purely because he was top to be the narrator of the movie because his voice

[00:06:02] just like him and his performances is just as iconic, you know, from the voice of, you know,

[00:06:09] this is CNN. Yeah. You know, so many movies that he again, he was just they tapped him,

[00:06:18] Ken Burns' Abraham Lincoln series. He was the narrator on it. So many other movies he was just

[00:06:25] the narrator on, you know, the voice of Darth Vader in so many films. His voice is just as iconic

[00:06:32] as his face and his physical presence in any film that he's been in. Yeah, exactly. And the most

[00:06:38] ironic thing about James Earl Jones' voice is that this is someone who was born with a pronounced

[00:06:45] stutter and he spent a lot of his youth not speaking at all because when he was had to say his name

[00:06:55] and class or was introduced himself, he couldn't do it without severe stutter. So it was poetry,

[00:07:01] it was dramatic readings that got him to break it. But the I went, but just like he overachieved

[00:07:10] everything in his life he overcame a severe stutter and someone who remained silent for a lot of

[00:07:18] his, a lot of his youth would ironically become the most gifted voice actor of our time.

[00:07:26] And another amazing part of who James Earl Jones is. Yeah, yeah, you talk about actors that

[00:07:33] just have the gravitas of the voice that they have. I mean, other than James Earl Jones,

[00:07:39] maybe Morgan Freeman is kind of the only other one I can think of who just has that voice presence

[00:07:47] that you would say like, I want this man to narrate my life. Yes, you know, or if you're reading

[00:07:54] something and you read it in your James Earl Jones's voice. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. So yeah,

[00:08:04] I mean we talk about all these great roles that he was a part of and each of us has our own top five

[00:08:09] that favorites that we've chosen. These top five don't necessarily mean we feel like these are the

[00:08:17] favorites. They could be anything from a starring role or as you mentioned, a quick walk on

[00:08:22] cameo that just we feel enhanced the movie and was very memorable for us. So we're going to go

[00:08:29] down from five to one and reveal our top five for each of these as per noticed any other or

[00:08:34] as per any other episode of Will Helm, we just want to make it known. I have not revealed my top

[00:08:39] five to Craig. Craig is not revealed this top five to me. That's part of the fun of revealing

[00:08:45] these to each other is kind of the gauge or reactions as we do it. I'm sure we're probably going

[00:08:50] to share a couple that's just found to happen. Maybe not when we did fan expo, there was quite

[00:08:58] a few on your list that surprised me in the best way. So who knows? I mean we'll see what happens.

[00:09:07] They might not be in the same spot but you know, I'm sure there'll be at least one

[00:09:11] that we're wondering too. We're going to share. And as always because we are revealing these top

[00:09:18] five and we're going to dive into why we chose them a little bit, there is always a chance for

[00:09:23] spoiler. So if this is a movie you haven't seen before just be aware we're going to talk about it

[00:09:28] a little bit but hopefully this conversation as it does with me and as I hope it does with others

[00:09:34] kind of gives you that boost to want to watch these films. So with that being said, let's dive into

[00:09:41] our top five starting with number five. Greg, we're going to throw it over to you first.

[00:09:47] What do you have for your number five in top five favorites? My number five

[00:09:54] Ben of the top five James or Jones movies is one where guess what he was an in physically but his

[00:10:04] voice was. This was an in any film he did back way back in 1980 and his voice was very prominent

[00:10:16] in this and you could say or someone even argue and you wouldn't get a whole lot of argument.

[00:10:24] Then it's film he managed to utter possibly the most famous line in movie history,

[00:10:34] boy thing the most famous villain in movie history. My number five favorite James Earl Jones film

[00:10:41] is the Empire's rights back. Of course of course. It was funny because when you said a film

[00:10:48] from 1980 that like a little indie film, I was like well wait a minute like he said 1980

[00:10:55] I'm thinking Star Wars like it's got to be Empire but then you said indie film I'm like

[00:10:59] well no this is just Craig being Craig. I don't know if anyone had seen it at the time so

[00:11:07] yeah that was a thing that he did as a a large and we found out later that

[00:11:14] he was the James Earl Jones to do the voice of Darth Vader was paid $7,000 for his role.

[00:11:23] Wow I did not know that I didn't know that was all his pay for that movie. That was it and it

[00:11:29] was because Ben the person that they wanted for the role for the voice of Darth Vader

[00:11:36] had commanded a bigger salary and they wouldn't pay it. He turned it down so they thought they

[00:11:43] would lowball the next guy which was James Earl Jones the original voice or original person

[00:11:49] that Steven Spielberg wanted to voice to be the voice of Darth Vader was horse and wealth.

[00:11:55] That would have been interesting yeah I'm not a big booming voice kids if you don't know

[00:12:00] horse and wealth of Google that man and you'll you see that it device is one that resonates but

[00:12:08] he commanded it a well asked for a huge number that the producers weren't willing to give so

[00:12:16] the next guy they offered it said well you know and it was James Earl Jones $7,000 and

[00:12:23] I of course that figure is what a renegotiated after that but Empire Strikes back is my number five.

[00:12:33] That's a good one and I will tell you we do share that one but I it's not my number five

[00:12:40] so we will I will talk a little bit more when I get to that one on my list but of course Empire has to be

[00:12:47] I mean you talk about Darth Vader like that's gotta be it is there's going to be an upcoming

[00:12:52] episode of Will Home of Top 5 Favorite Movie Villains and Top 5 Favorite Television Villains

[00:12:58] there's no doubt in my mind whoever does those episodes with me or even myself

[00:13:02] Vader is on the list for yes yes you ask almost any person

[00:13:08] Vader is on the list even people that have no history or a knowledge or comprehension or

[00:13:15] liking of Star Wars knows Darth Vader yeah oh yeah 100% yeah so and and that again James Earl Jones

[00:13:24] because exactly so my number five is a series of movies that he did similar to Empire Strikes back

[00:13:35] and those other indie films as part of that trilogy and all the other films that preceded it

[00:13:41] is another series of films that he did based on a book series based on the Jack Ryan series

[00:13:47] and you know we have a number of them that he was a part of we have clear and present danger

[00:13:52] we have the hunt for an October and we have Patriot Games but I only wanted to choose one of them

[00:13:56] because one of them is absolutely a standout of my favorites it is one of the movies that

[00:14:02] I will watch any time I'm going through the channels and I see it pop up or if I'm just going

[00:14:08] to my own library and I see it I haven't seen it on them like yeah that's the one I want to watch

[00:14:12] and I choose I chose this one out of the three because one I feel like James Earl Jones'

[00:14:18] performance is the strongest in this one but it also has the star power of another amazing actor who

[00:14:24] we're we're going to talk about at some point in the will home and that is Sean Connery

[00:14:29] because number five for me is the hunt for a Red October

[00:14:32] great film you know we talk about you know James Earl Jones is portrayal of Admiral Griehl

[00:14:38] Admiral Griehl sorry it's just such like a commanding presence in in that movie and it

[00:14:47] just to me it like perfectly compliments the tense nature of like the Cold War film

[00:14:55] that we were that we were getting you know the character kind of just serves as like a moral

[00:15:01] anchor you know without like Baldwin and Sean Connery and and oh oh it's not Liam Neeson who's

[00:15:10] the other one or was it Liam no it's not Liam it's from Jurassic Park oh Sam Neil Sam Neil yep

[00:15:17] also one of the other Russians on the cell yeah so you know the star the star power in that is just

[00:15:25] amazing and his presence in that is just as captivating so yeah so for my number five

[00:15:32] of those three films I had to choose the hunt for Red October yeah it's a great choice and it's

[00:15:37] a great film and attribute to him because he said to play that same stoic constant

[00:15:45] authority figure for three different Jack Ryan's you know yeah that's right for Harrison Ford

[00:15:51] for Ben Affleck for you know Alc Baldwin till but the moral center is James Jargellus and again

[00:15:59] those movies don't work without him yeah well I think I don't think he played that character

[00:16:04] for Ben Affleck did he I think it was just it was I think clear present danger and Patriot

[00:16:09] games were both everything forward we're gonna not yeah yes so and those were that I think

[00:16:15] those were the three that he was in unless he was in more I I I know for short was though it's

[00:16:20] okay yeah I could be wrong he might have been in more of him he might have been an

[00:16:24] a Ben Affleck Jack Ryan movie I'm not sure I guess remember you're saying watch you back Jack

[00:16:28] and you have exactly and Ben did okay good number five so that brings us now to number four what

[00:16:36] she got number four for me was a groundbreaking film and it started the the career of a great many people

[00:16:49] but again I use the word regal when I talked about James Jargellus and this was probably

[00:16:57] James Jargellus at his most regal because he played a king King Jaffrey Jofor in coming to

[00:17:05] America so like number four just because the again the the crown the the lion's head of

[00:17:15] that he had and just the lines a King we've never had this discussion but I was assumed you

[00:17:25] had sex with your bays as I know I do and just that that Colleen would have that grin

[00:17:31] was just amazing the dad that you feared and respected but you also wanted to get out from under

[00:17:40] and his his his interaction with John Amos when he came to America and just there they

[00:17:51] and cause they've been friends for a long time but just that scene where you have been in convenience

[00:17:57] I'll have one million American dollars no very well two million just you got that money in the

[00:18:06] world jack and you say one more bad thing about my daughter I'm gonna stick my foot up your

[00:18:11] world ass and just like pardon me just talking crap to James Jargellus and living to tell about it

[00:18:20] his sense of comedic timing and just his is aura I mean when he steps out the cab but the

[00:18:28] rose bushes with the drum's playing and the music squirrelling off and he steps out the cab

[00:18:33] just he looks like he looks at the top when he walks out and seeing that on the big screen

[00:18:39] and I saw it opening weekend with a you know a packed house full of people

[00:18:44] the the audience you'd already see we'd already seen him through most of the film but when he

[00:18:48] came to America when he stepped out on the rose bushes in Queens and just stood up just

[00:18:55] everyone's cheered and I've that some a movie moment and that's the thing about

[00:18:59] everything we say on these lists that movie moments you know where you were you remember the time

[00:19:05] when you heard or you saw James Earl Jones say this line or do this thing and for me coming to America

[00:19:11] it will always have that movie moment of James Earl Jones as the you know the proud king of

[00:19:18] Zimunda yeah it's I mean so coming to America I will I will admit and shamefully

[00:19:25] is not in my top five but I say that again shamefully because it was hard to not have it in my top five

[00:19:36] if you know if I could extend my list it would be number six auto-must because

[00:19:43] again it was really difficult to not put it in my top five only because of the number of great

[00:19:51] roles he has you know and when there comes a time that I do in any Murphy episode like that is

[00:19:58] such a great movie in itself his performance aside but between everybody with our senior hall

[00:20:05] and you know any Murphy and you know all the other great cast of characters even down to Louis Anderson

[00:20:13] it's you know that I have a feeling when I do the any Murphy episode that's going to be in a top

[00:20:18] five it's a part of some of these because it is such a great movie and you know what I

[00:20:24] I kind of feel like the sequels are a little underrated yeah yeah I came out you know from right

[00:20:31] from the the shadow of COVID and it came on Amazon Prime I think he had it had we not you know gone

[00:20:38] through the public health care it would have done fine in the theaters but yeah so that's

[00:20:45] something that I watched several times when when it first really was released on the streaming services

[00:20:53] she in his part was an as big it was you know it was kind of small but just having him in there

[00:21:00] really made it you know defined it for me because yeah you can imagine coming to America without James Earl Jones exactly

[00:21:08] yeah it's like imagining Star Wars without James Earl Jones you know yeah he's in his other

[00:21:14] but no that's like that's a great choice and again regrettably regrettably not in my top five

[00:21:19] and I kind of it was really close it's funny though because you know for my number four

[00:21:27] when you started talking about playing a king he has done that multiple times so when you say playing a

[00:21:34] you still kind of question like okay which movie is he talking about because it could come

[00:21:40] down to a number of films for my number four I want to talk about baseball which could also come

[00:21:48] down to a number of films but for my number four it's one that kind of just it brings me back

[00:21:57] childhood it makes me feel good anytime I watch it it's not the biggest role for him but again

[00:22:05] it's kind of pivotal and that's because my number four is the sandlot there you go wonderful you know

[00:22:13] he plays Mr. Murdoch who was a former baseball star and you know he's he becomes like this pivotal

[00:22:22] character in these young boys lives they think he's just this angry old man who just hates the world

[00:22:31] and you know he just he brings in like this more nostalgic love for baseball with these kids

[00:22:39] and it just his presence just adds like this whole layer of backstory and emotion

[00:22:46] and it just makes the film resonate so much better again it's not a large role for him

[00:22:53] but it's so memorable and so iconic that and so important to the movie that it didn't have to be

[00:23:02] a large role to resonate the way that it did it did and just to see him with the kid with the

[00:23:09] baby with baseball because you know you can take this one you can have mine and just that the

[00:23:16] gesture you know because all this time they thought yeah like he said that he was an angry bitter old man

[00:23:23] without knowing you know the history of a film and his his connection to baseball

[00:23:29] and it just made you know it's kind of like the the old man in home alone you know they were always

[00:23:35] him he was like a we got body parted his backyard and he's someone that just you know that

[00:23:42] the missed his family and yeah James Royal Jones in the family was someone that missed you know

[00:23:48] his connection with baseball because it was a lot deeper than that so much so they would help out

[00:23:53] you know yeah this kid yeah I love it too because I don't know if you I don't know if you

[00:24:04] listen and that's his episode of the Big Bang Theory yeah that he did where Sheldon meets him

[00:24:11] at a restaurant and they kind of play with it the same way the Sandlot did in that like when Sheldon

[00:24:17] standing there James comes across this like this angry man who's being bothered by this fan

[00:24:25] and it turns out he loves the fact that this guy is a fan of Star Wars because he's a big fan of

[00:24:34] they kind of played with that in that episode too similar to like the incorporated Star Wars but

[00:24:39] also the relationship of the Sandlot in this cameo throughout this entire episode it was just

[00:24:45] wonderful it was wonderful so that now brings us to our top three one do you have for number three

[00:24:57] well Ben before we went on the air we were discussing our history of top five and the last time

[00:25:03] did a top five big um at fan expo I mentioned some movies that you weren't familiar with and

[00:25:09] that turned out a lot of the audience that we did our show on the front of one from familiar with

[00:25:14] well we're gonna get probably in that territory because my number three I'm all for

[00:25:19] favorite James Earl Jones movie came out 1986 this is something that I saw in the theaters

[00:25:25] because the premise was so outlandish and it's a movie that probably wouldn't be made today

[00:25:33] can I guess you can guess is it soul man? my number three James Earl Jones movie is in

[00:25:40] the soul man yes

[00:25:45] because you don't know a seat time is how of tries to get into Harvard and he's rejected

[00:25:53] but through the use of canning pills he turns himself black and because he is a soul

[00:26:01] black student one of only two black applicants to Harvard he gets accepted and to Harvard as a black man

[00:26:09] and just just so you know you have to be black or there is the way he goes hey man in

[00:26:15] 86 black people are in it's the cosmic decade of one of the lines from the film

[00:26:22] and his professor was James Earl Jones and see Thomas out with all he's a brother he'll understand

[00:26:30] and of course James Earl Jones was James Earl Jones no nonsense he didn't care who you were

[00:26:35] what color you were he come to my class on time you have your your your prepared

[00:26:40] and no excuses and because of the color of his skin

[00:26:45] see Thomas howell is subject to racism and beat up and get into a fight and thrown in jail

[00:26:52] and he because of that he missed an important paper and James Earl Jones is character

[00:26:58] flunked him and see Thomas howell thinking he's black and coming to James Earl Jones

[00:27:05] think I would think you of all people would understand my plate and the monologue he gave

[00:27:12] to see Thomas howell still resonates today because it's still important today

[00:27:19] he said that's exactly why I'm not going to give you not going to cut you any slack

[00:27:25] because I'm because of the color of your skin if that means you have to work twice it's hard

[00:27:31] if these little white ships then that's what you're going to do and if you get locked up again

[00:27:36] you're allowed one phone call here's my number I'll bring your books and that was

[00:27:44] that's all I needed for that of course and we find out Thomas howell is white and everyone's like

[00:27:51] oh well that explains why he can't play basketball and Malora Hardin who's a place Jan

[00:27:59] on the office and she played the Whitney who was like enamored with black men and always wanted

[00:28:07] to and of course she goes well that no wonder why his you know his penis was so small

[00:28:14] it is a comedy but yeah but the James Earl Jones his role in it again like in San

[00:28:22] not not very big but looned large because of his presence and because of a monologue he gave

[00:28:28] to this young man just young quote unquote black man that in order for you to succeed you have

[00:28:36] to do twice as much as anyone else and I'm not going to give you any extra help or extra

[00:28:43] consideration because of a color your skin because it that's not how life works and it really

[00:28:50] still resonates with me almost got film got to be 40 years old in a couple of years but yeah

[00:28:58] though my number three was a is soul man the the moment that you said it's probably a film that

[00:29:05] couldn't be made today that was almost like my brain did the quick math of like okay 86 what kind

[00:29:13] of movie could be like yeah so man definitely could not be made today that is a movie I have not

[00:29:20] seen in a long time but I do remember quite fondly you know it's probably been a good 15

[00:29:27] 20 years since I've seen that movie but you mentioned you know Malora Hardin and I remember

[00:29:32] Ray Dongchang is in that movie I think I remember Leslie Nielsen. Leslie Nielsen played her

[00:29:40] played her. Wait his father wasn't it yeah Max Wright who played the father and Alphay

[00:29:46] remember being like there's a lot of familiar faces Julia Louis Dreyfus. Oh I don't remember

[00:29:53] Julia Louis Dreyfus being in the movie. Yeah I'm gonna have to go back and watch that again that's been

[00:30:00] yeah it's been a while and good luck finding it then because it's not playing on any you know

[00:30:04] on any regularity. You can move from the 80s you could find on cable TV somewhere but not that one.

[00:30:10] Huh I have my ways I'll try to find it we'll see I mean if I find it somewhere

[00:30:15] like you know but it's how you could do that trauma like anytime of any day or

[00:30:21] job exams under but soul man yeah it's okay I'm gonna get this. I'll pay like three or four

[00:30:28] bucks to rent it for Amazon if it's on Amazon it's fine. No that's a good pick that's a real deep

[00:30:34] cut too because again like I have not seen or even talked about that movie in a long time

[00:30:41] so that's I just wrote that down I'm gonna have to go back and

[00:30:46] find that one and give it a watch again and I don't know if it'll hold up but yeah I might be a little

[00:30:57] shadow so then that brings me to my number three and this is of this is going to be our first repeat

[00:31:04] of any of them it was your number five and that is Empire Strikes Back. I mentioned that it had

[00:31:12] to be it was in my top five as well and yeah I mean it's you know we talk about iconic villains

[00:31:19] and we talk about iconic characters and we can't under appreciate of course the actor that

[00:31:24] physically portrayed Vader as well but without that just iconic voice behind it I don't think

[00:31:33] the character would have had the same gravitas that that it did you know we talk about

[00:31:40] you know again we talk about iconic villains but as of all of the Star Trek Star Trek

[00:31:47] wrong franchise policies all of the Star Wars projects that James has lent his voice to

[00:31:55] whether it's the original trilogy the new trilogy the old the the the the the prequel trilogy

[00:32:01] rogue one Obi-wan like any of these that he let his voice to to me Empire is I think the

[00:32:11] greatest and most iconic performance of Vader in any of those films you know the whole

[00:32:19] that's not true that's in pot like I'm your father that's not true that's impossible it is

[00:32:26] to this day still one of the biggest like yeah it's the most memorable item of history

[00:32:33] yeah like and it's one of the most iconic moments of like revealing something it's one of the most

[00:32:41] iconic reveals in movie history I still get enjoyment to this day of watching videos on

[00:32:49] YouTube or even my own friends showing their kids Star Wars for the first time and recording their

[00:32:56] reactions to that moment yes you know because I remember my own reaction to that moment so to see

[00:33:05] that that that the to see that the reaction to that moment will live on probably forever

[00:33:12] yeah in its own way makes his performance as Vader live forever

[00:33:19] those definitely and you know it's just it's just an unforgettable performance that he gave

[00:33:27] through voice acting and you know because I've had the opportunity to meet a number of voice actors

[00:33:35] in over the years whether it be through the podcast or through events and shows and the one

[00:33:41] piece of advice that always give you is that to be a good voice actor you have to be an actor first

[00:33:47] because you have to be able to portray emotion with simply the use of your voice with no physical

[00:33:52] attributes to it and again his performances Vader in Empire Strikes Back to Me is a masterclass

[00:34:02] of that. Let's definitely it's I'm surprised it's not higher on my list but

[00:34:10] it's in the top five and that's all the matters. That is all that matters you know it would be

[00:34:14] on a lot of people's number one that I'm sure the people that have to listen to is right now

[00:34:18] how is that number three or how is that number five? Yeah exactly. Frame a slide and movie

[00:34:24] history and most famous villain and movie history activity that's the Draby to James Jojoins

[00:34:29] that he has so many great moments and so many great films that you know this one

[00:34:36] didn't make the number one but again he said some top five so well I mean and again too we said

[00:34:42] it at the top but it's always been the caveat of this podcast is that we're not talking about

[00:34:48] what we feel are the greatest performances of James Jojoins. We're talking about our favorite

[00:34:54] performances of James Jojoins so there could be other attributes that kind of enhance other

[00:35:00] choices over others could be other people that are in the film that could be the subject of the

[00:35:05] film it could be speeches that they gave as you mentioned with so many like the speeches that kind

[00:35:09] of resonate with us. It's not just the performance itself there's other things that make them favorites

[00:35:17] so while Empire could be one of James's greatest performances of all time which arguably I

[00:35:23] think it is yeah it's not my favorite movie that he's in so you know yeah that said

[00:35:33] let's dive into our top two number two on your list I'm see there's two neither of my two top two

[00:35:43] have been mentioned yet so I'm almost wondering if we have to share at least one of these you think

[00:35:49] it's not both we'll see but what if you got for your number two.

[00:35:54] My number two then and please I mean then you're the other guys sorry

[00:36:01] I like my number two then please keep in mind that I'm significantly older than you and so when I

[00:36:09] saw this movie I was a youth but I played so often and what made this movie say that for me

[00:36:20] was James O'Jones performance and that a lot of people don't see or didn't see when you know the

[00:36:29] world became aware of James O'Jones the actor and not just a voice actor but this movie sticks out to

[00:36:35] me because this movie showcased James O'Jones the love interest James O'Jones the sexy man

[00:36:44] when this film came out in 1974 it was it was an Oscar nominated movie and Diane Carroll played

[00:36:54] the lead role and she was nominated for Best Actress but would make what gave her that gravitas

[00:37:00] was her leading man and that was James O'Jones as the beautiful boyfriend who was just trying to

[00:37:09] make this woman happy it's woman at six kids they were on welfare they were threatened by a social

[00:37:16] worker like seemingly every week and he was just a man that fell in love with this woman despite

[00:37:22] all of her and him her trying to drive him off you don't want nothing to do with me he was always there

[00:37:29] and that James O'Jones for the 70s that role made him a significant leading man or a romantic

[00:37:36] lead that you don't associate that lead that with James O'Jones but this movie did my number

[00:37:43] two then and my top five James O'Jones favorite is Claudine okay 1974 I admittedly have never seen

[00:37:57] Claudine but from everything you just told me I am I'm writing it down

[00:38:04] because and again anybody who's listened to the podcast knows I write down movies constantly

[00:38:11] for me to go back and watch because I love seeing movies for the first time and you talking about

[00:38:16] this kind of being a different side of him and you're right we don't often see him if ever as a leading man

[00:38:24] romanticly so that alone makes me kind of want to go back and watch this movie purely because I

[00:38:31] want to see that different side of his acting chops because from everything we've seen of that he

[00:38:37] can do so far or that he can do I already know without a shadow of a doubt purely by what you said

[00:38:44] about the movie and what I already know of his performances in the past he can pull it off oh yeah yeah

[00:38:51] and the what made the movie stand out not so much I mean the the the acting and the

[00:38:58] cinematography shot on location in Brooklyn the soundtrack the entire soundtrack of the movie

[00:39:04] is glad it's night in the pips and that it's not and does not have been nitranged your genet

[00:39:10] so if you will think like every song in this film was done by glad it's night in the pips

[00:39:16] and it shows the and every emotion you're feeling there's a song that matches it and the music

[00:39:24] was makes the movie as much as he acting does it's 1974 and we're coming right off the

[00:39:32] the end of the civil rights movement but these these characters that we see you are automatically invested in

[00:39:39] Diane Carol plays a maid she has to go from her home in Brooklyn in the projects take a

[00:39:46] subway and take a bus and take another bus to this long island suburb where she's a maid

[00:39:52] in this woman's house and she gets you know side-eyed looks from them and genealogyones is

[00:40:00] the garbage man that comes by every once a week to pick up their trash and just the way to her

[00:40:08] and that was it and you know he's at you know on that and you win that deep voice you know

[00:40:13] I don't come out of here really just to pick up trash you know and she she find and she

[00:40:19] he's pulling away and then finally and then she runs out and just yell that her her number to him

[00:40:25] just to just give him a chance and she goes on to write a doubt if no no I got it so easy

[00:40:30] James on the back of a garbage shop just waving to her and that big smile on his face full

[00:40:36] of hair and this was a guy that the audience women instantly fell in love with like why can't

[00:40:43] I mean it kind of like that a guy that's just a nice sweet you know generous guy that would go

[00:40:51] that would go out of his way just to you know just to say hi to this woman he feeds every week

[00:40:57] and just to just to make her happy yeah yeah you're right like I could see the attraction of like a

[00:41:04] nice like you said a nice generous friendly working class man like yeah I could absolutely

[00:41:13] see the attraction and that so I wrote it down I am a I'm glad you that one was your number two

[00:41:17] because again I love it when there are movies in top five that I've never seen because now

[00:41:22] they are added to the list of movies I need to check out so good pick thank you I've heard of it

[00:41:28] just it's just I it's I've never had the opportunity to see it I thought I said this movie this

[00:41:34] movie celebrating is 50th anniversary then came up 50 years ago so I have to go if you have it

[00:41:41] it's really okay I guess it's it's the perfect time to watch it now to celebrate him and the 50th

[00:41:47] anniversary of the movie of glory yes so so then that brings me then to my number two not a movie as

[00:41:57] as celebrating 50 years and I don't think you are that much I don't think you're that significantly

[00:42:06] over there I am but this is a movie that I also watched as a mute

[00:42:16] and it's still to this day holds its place as one of my all-time favorite Disney

[00:42:23] animated films and that's the Lion King you know we talked about you know roles where he played a

[00:42:32] king coming to America and the sea and it's in its sequel the Lion King is another one of those movies

[00:42:39] you know Mofasa is one of the most beloved roles and he just lends his like just that iconic

[00:42:48] powerful voice to just a wise and noble king you know that the presence in the film is just it's kind

[00:42:57] of like we talked about roles like where he's a smaller part of it but he's iconic of it and this is

[00:43:05] kind of another similar thing like that he's not in the whole movie but he is in a larger part of it

[00:43:16] it's his like I'm trying to find the words like he he Mofasa is basically the emotional backbone of

[00:43:25] of the Lion King yes you know it's it's the guiding you know it's the guidance it's symbols guidance

[00:43:32] it's the inspiration it's the wisdom it's the kindness it's the strength similar to his character

[00:43:37] and Claudia in that you were just mentioning you know he seems to portray a lot of those characteristics

[00:43:43] and many of the roles that he plays and man like Mofasa is just another one of those roles that

[00:43:51] it just shines through every one of those characteristics just shines through so much so that the death of Mofasa

[00:44:01] like it never we felt that whether we were kids we were adults we're teenagers no matter what

[00:44:09] point your life you were seeing the Lion King for the first time you were feeling that moment

[00:44:14] and it affected you and it's again it's the reason why to this day the Lion King is still

[00:44:20] one of my all-time favorite Disney animated movies of course it held the record for the most

[00:44:26] high-thruity animated film a while time and would make the Lion King it's so special and so time was

[00:44:33] just like with Empire just like with the the Lion's his book that are still we all connected in the

[00:44:40] great circle of life or with everything that some my touches belongs to you I mean the fathers use this

[00:44:47] you know be blind for their kids yeah it's like they're in the Lion King based still doing to this day

[00:44:59] yes and I say I was a you when I saw that movie I was 15 so I was as a teenager when I saw

[00:45:07] that movie it's you'd like but again it because it's so timeless then it didn't matter if

[00:45:12] you were teenagers if you were a kid or if you were in your 20s or your 30s when

[00:45:17] thing the Lion King wasn't event so much so that in back when Disney started their

[00:45:23] job or not of full length animated feature films that would gross $200 million and you know that was

[00:45:31] this is during the beauty in the beast 11 era it was I mean you you had what what a time

[00:45:38] what a run Disney had during that time you had the Lion King beauty in the beast Aladdin the little

[00:45:44] mermaid hercules like the run of animated movies they had at that time and they all still hold up

[00:45:52] exactly and they weren't just seen by kids they I mean parents took their kids but like wrong

[00:45:58] men went to see these movies because a good one they would come out you at they would open a number

[00:46:04] one of the box office and you had to see them so people would talk about this and work didn't even

[00:46:10] have kids I didn't have kids and I wasn't even a kid but I went to see these movies because

[00:46:17] they were the biggest movies in the world at the time every time I won't lie man

[00:46:21] I'm in my I'm in my mid 40s and I I'm not without kids I still look forward anytime

[00:46:29] Disney puts out new movies of course still look forward to them it's ingrained in you because

[00:46:33] you've been doing it since you were since you can remember so and and during that run

[00:46:39] doing that Lion King you know little mermaid feeling the beast run you had to because

[00:46:46] I mean with me yeah and I think that run of movies you know bringing it back to the Lion King

[00:46:52] and James O'Jones is performance I mean you look at you know let's take three of those movies for

[00:46:58] example with the Lion King Aladdin and Hercules you look at the voice cast that those movies had

[00:47:04] you had James Earl Jones in the Lion King you had Robin Williams in Aladdin James Woods and Danny DeVito

[00:47:11] in Hercules like you you had these iconic actors playing these iconic roles and James Earl Jones

[00:47:18] being again you know one of the the the greater ones there and they resonate so much in our lives

[00:47:26] at that point in time and even now to this day that I think those roles are the reasons why we still

[00:47:33] love Disney movies to this day. Love definitely not definitely. I mean no disrespect to earlier

[00:47:39] movies like Cinderella or sleeping out here. I mean yeah no way and all that and Cinderella I mean

[00:47:44] that that's where they started we had to start somewhere but that that period of time were

[00:47:50] Disney made magic that was just they just expanded on what they were already doing and

[00:47:57] they Disney films are already you know in events and it created the wonderful world of Disney

[00:48:02] but that time that time period they just just took a to another level which they really haven't

[00:48:08] come down from yeah they started there and in Lion King I guess I said it at one point it was the

[00:48:15] highest roasting animated movie of all time and it deserves it. So thank you so that brings us now

[00:48:25] two hour number one picks for our top five favorite James Earl Jones films and I'll turn it back

[00:48:33] over to you Craig what is your number one favorite James Earl Jones movie? My number one favorite

[00:48:41] James Earl Jones movie that came instantly when I heard about his untimely passing

[00:48:48] this was the first movie that I thought of because it was the first one that I first movie of

[00:48:55] as I saw all the way through. I did a book report on the person it was James Earl Jones played

[00:49:04] a real life person in history and he did it so well and he played this role on Broadway I didn't

[00:49:12] find that this out till later and he recreated the same role on film and this movie believe it

[00:49:22] or not is the only movie where he was nominated for best actor that he has only asked her nomination

[00:49:29] came in this film. My favorite James Earl Jones film my favorite James Earl Jones performance

[00:49:34] all all time was his role as Jack Johnson in the great white hope. That is so I have never seen

[00:49:47] the great white hope similar to Claudine I am aware of it. Was it a Jack Jefferson?

[00:49:55] In Jack Jefferson is his real name. In the EI you're right in the movie is Jack Jefferson he was playing

[00:50:03] Jack Johnson. Oh, gotcha okay. He's based on the real life Jack Johnson but yes his role movie was

[00:50:09] Jack Jefferson and he was the only Oscar nomination he's ever had was for best actor in 1977 before

[00:50:18] the great white hope of playing this character the first black heavyweight champion of the world

[00:50:27] and his it was an action film he did all of his own stuff he did all of his own boxing

[00:50:34] and he didn't gain any weight for it he didn't do a deniro he was just he was James Earl Jones

[00:50:40] but he just embodies such a spirit. Jane Alexander played his wife and what made the film so

[00:50:51] so daring is because it based on a true story he married a white woman which was illegal in

[00:51:00] some states but when he got me he crossed state lines to get married that's what he got locked up for

[00:51:06] and so to to combat that and with being the heavyweight champion of the world he had a great

[00:51:15] scene and every scene he was in and that's one of the why it's my favorite performance because

[00:51:21] you know we commented on our our list of great performance by James Earl Jones in movies that he

[00:51:27] wasn't in a lot or he was barely in but he his his little his um his appearance resonated like

[00:51:36] and sandlot or an empire great white hope he was in every scene in this film and then almost two

[00:51:43] hour movie because he was a central character being Jack Jefferson the first black heavyweight champion

[00:51:50] and being the subject of just the most intense racism everywhere he went and he had a smile on

[00:51:55] face everywhere when he would come out and face these white challengers because now I'm

[00:52:01] saying the title kids because the most of the country was so incense that a black man

[00:52:08] was a heavyweight champion of the world any white challenger that went up against him they would be

[00:52:14] the great white hope they would be the one to finally just thrown him dead that would be the

[00:52:20] and it was built up in real time it was in real life it was just willard was given that title because

[00:52:28] he was a six foot seven toward and fifty pound behemoth who was so strong he killed a seven point

[00:52:37] buck through it over shoulder and walked ten miles home that's how big this guy was and he

[00:52:43] was supposed to be the one to just throw in Jack Johnson and this is a 1901 and when he didn't

[00:52:51] when he was defeated easily by Jack Johnson there was race riding in the streets Teddy Rose

[00:52:59] Bell listened to the fight on the radio and he was so incense by the outcome that he can't

[00:53:04] feel the press conference he had that day it was the first fight of the century and it's been

[00:53:10] labeled over and over again but that's who James Earl Jones is playing in this movie

[00:53:16] in the great white hope and there was a pivotal scene where a bunch of

[00:53:24] black group of black man came to see him fight and he saw them in a distance and they weren't

[00:53:32] allowed in and he says you guys couldn't get any seats and his manager saying it's best they

[00:53:38] don't go in Jack because you guys came all the way I didn't see me yeah we came out here to pray

[00:53:43] for you brother and he goes well if you're bad and your prayer should you know should pay off

[00:53:47] in the fifth because no we're praying for you for you know to help us for us colored folks

[00:53:54] because you had your praying for for me just yeah because after you win I'm going to be proud

[00:54:01] to be black tomorrow and James Earl Jones said well if you ain't already proud and all the

[00:54:07] people in the world and all the praying they're going to do it for you and so you praying here

[00:54:11] for me you know praying for me all I am is some black ugly fist here you know praying

[00:54:16] oh Lord don't let them go in and leave town without getting shot oh Lord don't let them don't

[00:54:21] let these people hang him after the fight's over I'm nothing of you but a black ugly fist

[00:54:27] and he walked away the the way he captured that moment and the way he saw himself is not a

[00:54:35] symbol of black justice or anything I'm a I do this for me I'm a fight for me everything I've

[00:54:42] got I got oh my own so I don't need you praying for me I don't need on that some savior of the

[00:54:47] black race I'm just I'm Jack Jefferson and in her demon Oscar nomination it really propels his

[00:54:55] career to he had been a Broadway actor for for so long and doing a fellow doing driving this day

[00:55:02] on Broadway and doing this the play the great white hope on Broadway but this L this started

[00:55:10] his movie career to which were paying tribute to him now and it gave him his only Oscar nomination

[00:55:17] my number one favorite James Earl Jones movie of all time is the great white hope

[00:55:22] you that whole explanation and talking about the speech and and everything I wrote it down

[00:55:31] already before you even talked about that because again this is a movie I've been aware of and

[00:55:36] I've never seen you want with 100% certainty you basically just sold me on the fact that

[00:55:44] I need to watch this not soon I need to watch this this week because I love like emotional

[00:55:55] inspirational stories like that you know it doesn't matter whether it's racially

[00:56:04] charged or anything like that I'm just a big sucker for inspirational things for people who

[00:56:09] overcome I love movies like that and to know that this is one of those kind of movies this is an inspirational

[00:56:15] film not only that but this is a film as you mentioned that earned him an Oscar nomination

[00:56:21] like that means that that's a performance that I want to see so now I'm like yes like I've literally

[00:56:29] circled it like four times while you were talking like find this movie and watch this movie soon

[00:56:38] thank you I'm glad I can do it and for anyone else listen to the podcast that it

[00:56:43] It entices you to go seek out this landmark film then please do so

[00:56:50] It's just a fine film and it's again one my favorite action performance

[00:56:54] And if you only know James Earl Jones for him is later work

[00:56:57] seeing James Earl Jones as a young man as a young fitman

[00:57:02] And to in his physical prime

[00:57:04] Yeah, see it I can't I cannot recommend it enough perfect that's a great choice for number one

[00:57:12] Thank you sir. So that leads me now to my number one choice

[00:57:17] We talked about movies where he played kings and we talked about movies that are movies about baseball

[00:57:24] So my number one is a movie that I will

[00:57:29] freely admit I I did not watch

[00:57:32] For a very long time as a matter of fact I just saw this movie for the first time

[00:57:39] This year what earlier this year was the first time I ever saw this film and it's because

[00:57:48] In towards the end of last season of Wilhelm we did a top five favorite baseball movies

[00:57:52] And in doing my research for that I was like well there's no way I can list top five favorite baseball movies

[00:57:59] Without having watched this one

[00:58:01] Because I can't go my life having never seen this movie and I watched it and I was like

[00:58:09] I just remember like being in the first like half hour of the movie and I'm like I don't see what everybody loves about this movie

[00:58:16] It's not it's okay, and then by the end of the movie being like

[00:58:22] Holy shit

[00:58:23] That's out of the greatest

[00:58:25] That's one of the greatest movies I've ever seen

[00:58:28] And I think a lot of it comes down to James Earl Jones's performance

[00:58:34] as Terrence Man

[00:58:36] Infield of Dreams

[00:58:37] Wonderful wonderful

[00:58:39] His role is nothing short of magical in that movie the the journey that his character makes

[00:58:48] From being like a delusional

[00:58:51] Disillusioned recluse to becoming just a believer in the impossible

[00:58:58] It so perfectly

[00:59:01] Compliments the theme of the movie

[00:59:03] Like all of the themes of the movie the themes of redemption the themes of dreams healing power of baseball

[00:59:10] It just

[00:59:11] His character and his performance just encapsulate that so much. He is whole we talk about like in packed full speeches

[00:59:20] Yeah, and his monologue about

[00:59:24] Baseballs in darning significance

[00:59:28] Just it is the heart and soul of that movie like a like I just remember by the end of that film being like as I said like okay

[00:59:38] Now I understand it

[00:59:40] Now I get it now. I know why everybody loves this movie and it really truly comes down to his performance

[00:59:48] Nothing against Kevin Cossner or anybody else in that movie

[00:59:52] But that movie truly finds its magic

[00:59:56] When his when turnance man comes into the films

[01:00:01] Just the two words that

[01:00:04] Seulidified everything they got

[01:00:07] Audiences galvanized when they saw it on the screen for the first time

[01:00:11] Moonlight Graham

[01:00:12] Yeah

[01:00:13] Turns around you see him in the middle of the and is it oh my god, you saw it you saw it

[01:00:19] Yes, what I see Ray and yeah the the the speech of baseball

[01:00:24] They will come Ray oh they'll come from miles and miles around

[01:00:29] when

[01:00:31] When made two years ago

[01:00:33] When they had a special

[01:00:36] baseball

[01:00:37] during the baseball season they played a baseball game in the actual field of dreams

[01:00:44] Stadium in Iowa in the cornfields

[01:00:47] The players entered

[01:00:50] Through the corn

[01:00:52] The entrance of diamond through the corn

[01:00:55] And the jane they played the james arrow Jones monologue as they were walking into

[01:01:01] Walking on to the field and these are two teams adding give a crap about

[01:01:05] But watching that and hearing it I cried watching before a baseball game even started because it's james

[01:01:13] Your old Jones voice

[01:01:15] No, no, please continue

[01:01:16] No

[01:01:18] Two years ago, yeah, I think it was two years ago

[01:01:21] But they decided to have that they promoted it all year and during baseball that you're going to have a baseball game

[01:01:27] At the actual field of dreams baseball fields of baseball field, fun field of dreams

[01:01:32] And they had to stand up there and the players entered through the cornfields

[01:01:37] And just one of the time they were wearing the old time uniforms at over the voice over of james arrow Jones

[01:01:43] And I cried like a baby because

[01:01:47] Just like my dad would have loved this and it's field of dreams is

[01:01:53] The brine song of the new generation of men crying that it's okay for guys to cry if

[01:01:59] It was brine song in the one generation in this generation of field of dreams

[01:02:04] It's it's somebody that you say that too because I as I get older I find myself

[01:02:11] As an easy cryer I get so emotional over the dumbest stuff

[01:02:18] For example, we talked about Disney like I just watched inside out too for the first time the other day

[01:02:24] Oh, and I was totally crying

[01:02:26] By the end of that movie

[01:02:28] Because as somebody who suffers from anxiety that movie perfectly nailed anxiety

[01:02:33] So like oh my god, I feel this I am rightly right now

[01:02:38] But like you know we talk about like like you said like Brian song and field of dreams as movies that make men cry

[01:02:45] The more I think about it, I think like there are so many for men

[01:02:50] I think you're right sports movies

[01:02:53] To make men cry more than anything else

[01:02:57] You know we talk of like remember the Titans in really and like all these other great sports films that just make us cry as men

[01:03:05] It's ridiculous

[01:03:08] Great joy though, but yeah like you know again nothing against Kevin Costner Ray Leota is fantastic

[01:03:14] It was Joe in the movie

[01:03:17] And Matt again Timothy busfield as his you know as her brother when he finally sees it

[01:03:23] Like the whole time like the whole movie like you have to sell that you can't you have to get rid of this and by the end

[01:03:28] He's like oh you're not selling this field

[01:03:30] Like you're not selling this like even him becoming a believer. It's

[01:03:35] It's just it's there's so much magic to that film and nostalgia that when I was

[01:03:42] It happened so often doing this podcast is that when it comes to

[01:03:47] Pitch-oosing an actor or choosing a franchise where we're doing a top five

[01:03:52] Oftentimes my number one is an immediate pick yeah, it's like okay like I know what my number one is now

[01:04:00] 2 through 5 and

[01:04:02] When it came to this field of the dreams was like yep, I know my number one is now I got a 2 through 5

[01:04:10] And field of the dreams was it and that's an and that's an easy one and for a lot of

[01:04:15] Folks that's an easy one

[01:04:17] It's in my honorable mention spoiler over and one of my favorite moments of field of dreams was when

[01:04:24] Ray Leota

[01:04:26] Just said you want to come with us

[01:04:29] And Kevin Costa is yeah, I wasn't talking to you and James Earl Jones is exit

[01:04:37] It says yeah, what's out there? So he's going to come and find out

[01:04:41] And it was so bitter sweet because

[01:04:45] We know we're not going to see him again. Yeah, and he says you take care of this family

[01:04:50] But he didn't fight he said well why can't I come because because you weren't invited right?

[01:04:55] That just you know it hits but we just met this we just met Terrence man. We just met

[01:05:04] He's now a believer and

[01:05:07] Now he's gone. Yeah

[01:05:09] You're right it's bitter sweet, but

[01:05:13] You're right like it's it's we talk about those emotional moments that kind of make men cry and

[01:05:19] You know that's one of them because you're right we just met Terrence man and it's bitter sweet because like you mentioned

[01:05:24] We know we're not going to see him again, but we also know he's going to be happy

[01:05:28] Yes, and it's like well man like okay like we can't say no like we have to let him go you have to accept this

[01:05:36] You know yeah, and Kevin Costa is bargaining with like a you know I get all this you know

[01:05:42] Built is everything and I'm not one time that I ask what's in it for me? It's the way thing. I'm saying

[01:05:47] What's in it for me? Yeah

[01:05:51] That's just I yep feel the dreams my number one favorite James Hill Jones well welcome to the party Ben

[01:05:59] We're we're jumping on board the field of dream stream. Yeah, I'm I'm kind of ashamed that it took me that long to watch that movie

[01:06:08] You know Ben easily when you when you promote on and social media and I follow you of course

[01:06:13] When you say I'm seeing this movie burst out you said I give you a hard time

[01:06:17] I think oh well it's 1996 already

[01:06:21] This one

[01:06:22] I think I'm not gonna give you any crap for this because I just want you to see it if you don't like it as one thing

[01:06:27] everything I don't get what everyone sees about this but the fact that you saw it and you got it and just like that

[01:06:34] It's your number one favorite film of James Earl Jones

[01:06:39] speaks volumes of the movie of you of the timeless nature of it

[01:06:45] that you just saw this movie that's

[01:06:48] You know 40 years old and you're seeing it now

[01:06:51] And it's and it's already your number one amazing

[01:06:55] So so happy for you. So and when I did the baseball episode too like it immediately jumped in the my top five like I was like okay

[01:07:03] I've seen a lot of great baseball movies

[01:07:05] This is I've only seen this movie once and it's in my top five

[01:07:10] Yeah, so yeah

[01:07:12] Wonderful welcome for thank you

[01:07:15] I'm happy to be here

[01:07:19] Let's knock out some honorable mentions before we start to you know to wrap this episode up

[01:07:23] I don't have many

[01:07:25] So I'll kind of lead it over to you to kind of throw out a couple of the ones that you have

[01:07:31] Okay, well my honorable mentions one of them and most of it include baseball

[01:07:35] Feel the dreams who is my honorable mention

[01:07:38] It's only for his emotional impact in it and

[01:07:43] There's so many other things for me was all about Rayleigh Oda and I haven't a catch with

[01:07:49] Your dad with your dad my other honorable mentioned was another baseball film

[01:07:56] And it talked about it's

[01:08:00] Bingo long and then traveling all stars

[01:08:02] They were it was a film based on the even Negro leagues

[01:08:07] They would these guys to bingo long was like the Harlem glow chart is a baseball and

[01:08:12] They would get play baseball and get into adventures and stuff but again

[01:08:18] You know be subject to location

[01:08:21] Racism, but this was a movie a baseball movie with James J. Joe Jones

[01:08:25] Billy D Williams Richard prior

[01:08:29] Stan Shaw and it was just again 70s just so much fun

[01:08:35] There's some dark moments in there too

[01:08:39] Duane Jesse who in everyone knows him as Oda's day from Oda's day in the night

[01:08:44] But he is performance in this movie just you know

[01:08:49] Resonates you know everyone will talk about when he interview they want to do a stay

[01:08:53] You need to talk to Duane Jesse because that guy has done three Richard prior movies

[01:08:56] And this one would bingo long

[01:08:59] He was just absolutely hysterical, but

[01:09:03] James Joe Jones plays a just a rough tough cigar smoke and baseball guy

[01:09:09] Then Billy D at his most handsomeist so that's my

[01:09:13] That's my it is prelando Billy this is you know, lady things to blues really do so he had the mustache and he had the way behavior and

[01:09:21] Getting to get in chill to myself

[01:09:24] Every day, but yeah, feel the dreams

[01:09:28] Bingo long and it's it's not a movie. It's a television movie

[01:09:33] But it's the way the reason resonates with me because it's a sequel to the most watched many series of all time

[01:09:41] It's roots the next generation and he plays Alex Haley the author of roots and the roots in

[01:09:54] And I'm picking this is out of real mention even though it wasn't in the theater because this was a mini series

[01:10:01] Chronically Alex Haley's third for his past and he had to confront a

[01:10:08] The

[01:10:10] A laa former slave owner

[01:10:12] Who was up there in age

[01:10:15] But what it was Ben that was James Earl Jones

[01:10:19] Sitting across a table and

[01:10:22] Having a scene with Marlon Brando

[01:10:26] Who wow James Earl Jones and Marlon Brando playing this old bitter racist

[01:10:32] And he's asking questions about the members of his family

[01:10:36] And you hear Marlon Brando just yeah, you ever hear this song and just goes into this

[01:10:42] Racist tune and talks about you use the word

[01:10:46] Spirit chuckering jiggle and James Earl Jones is just nodding along and because no I didn't hear that song

[01:10:55] My mom probably did and her grandmother probably did he probably sang in a lot

[01:11:00] I'm just trying to find out who they were and why they were here

[01:11:03] I'm not here to talk about how you treated them or how you treat people now

[01:11:08] I'm just here to find my family and just to see those two acting heavy weights share are seen together

[01:11:16] And again this was

[01:11:19] It was 1980 I believe this

[01:11:22] We came out in 77 and it was next generation came out at the extent I want to say 79 but

[01:11:29] James Earl Jones and Marlon Brando on screen

[01:11:33] It's not a movie it came on television. I think it only came on television twice

[01:11:38] But that's that's my honorable mention no, I think and I think that totally counts and

[01:11:43] You know the fact that you had James Earl Jones and Marlon Brando and is seen together and Holly would didn't explode is

[01:11:51] You know you have two power houses like that in

[01:11:55] You know on this on the sharing the screen together

[01:11:59] Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right like on television like it's how did people TV survive that like it's

[01:12:06] It should have done damage to people's televisions at home. No, those are good some some good choices for

[01:12:13] For honorable mentions just to go through mine really quickly

[01:12:18] Coming to America obviously which we we discussed a little bit already didn't make my top five but you know was

[01:12:26] Tying off barely didn't make my top five

[01:12:30] I mentioned some of the other Jack Ryan movies clear present danger and the and Patriot games are two other great

[01:12:36] One that he did

[01:12:37] Two movies that haven't been mentioned though that are also at my in my honorable mentions one of them

[01:12:44] I'm almost guaranteed you possibly have heard of but most of the listeners out there probably never heard of this movie

[01:12:52] But the first one is Conan the barbarian

[01:12:55] Yes, I saw it a theater

[01:12:57] Thoughts to do a man like he

[01:13:00] What's like seeing we've seen

[01:13:03] James Earl Jones play these iconic roles as heroes and and inspirational characters

[01:13:09] So it was it was great to see him play a villain this role. Yeah other than obviously Darth Vader this was

[01:13:17] This was well not this was after Empire but I think before Jedi it was 85

[01:13:23] 84 I'm sorry 84

[01:13:25] Was Conan 84 okay, yeah

[01:13:28] Well, no cuz well then it had to have been after Jedi because Jedi was 83

[01:13:32] Let me see

[01:13:34] I remember this for yeah, I remember seeing I'm you know what I saw in a high school they were 82

[01:13:41] Yeah, yeah, I just looked it's 82

[01:13:43] Is it okay? Yeah, yeah

[01:13:45] We Empire and Jedi

[01:13:47] Yes, let's you know but yeah like false adun was just another great role that didn't make my top five

[01:13:54] But it's still iconic enough and it had to be made and I had to be in my honorable mentions

[01:13:58] He turned into a snake

[01:14:01] Folks

[01:14:01] Things are going to turn into a snake

[01:14:04] I saw this in the theater and I might I was watching like that because I didn't know what's gonna happen

[01:14:09] And the special effects were still primitive back then now when you see him his face just just elongate and he turns into a

[01:14:17] Snake, but yes

[01:14:18] Great yeah, I don't mention yes

[01:14:21] And the other one but the last of my honorable mentions the one that is probably the most out there

[01:14:26] But I just remember seeing this movie

[01:14:28] When I was younger I have not seen this movie probably since I was 11 12 years old so

[01:14:36] I could almost guarantee you at most likely does not hold up one bit

[01:14:41] Because I remember watching it when I was like nine or 10

[01:14:47] It's a movie with Nick Nalti and Martin Short

[01:14:52] Three for you to this

[01:14:57] Perfect

[01:14:58] It's it's a it's a I mean, it's the typical

[01:15:01] 80s comedy

[01:15:03] You know Nick Nalti is a reformed bank robber and Martin Short at the it just so happens. It's like wrong place at wrong time for Nick Nalti

[01:15:12] Because he's in a bank and

[01:15:15] Martin Short is this like so desperate that he comes in and robs the bank

[01:15:19] tries to rob the bank and

[01:15:22] Takes Nick Nalti hostage but all of like law enforcement including James O'Jones and Allen Rock

[01:15:30] They think three known it together because he's a former bank robber and just like

[01:15:36] Yeah, what do you want, Guggen and Nick Nalti nothing? I'm the hostage

[01:15:41] Cutters shit. What do you want?

[01:15:42] That don't want anything

[01:15:44] I'm so glad new if anybody knew of this movie

[01:15:48] It would be you

[01:15:49] Ben I rented that film rented on VHS multiple times

[01:15:56] Because they wanted other people to see this film because I loved it so much. Yeah, yeah

[01:16:01] Again, I haven't seen it since I was like I probably like 11 12 years old

[01:16:07] But I'm almost curious to try and find it to see if it holds up

[01:16:12] Yeah, I the thing I don't think it I

[01:16:19] Was you know, buddy comedy and because it wasn't really anything that too inflammatory about it that

[01:16:26] You know that when stand the test of time

[01:16:29] It was just a gal like you said wrong place wrong time a bosh bank robbery

[01:16:34] You must have taken a hostage so he takes the biggest guy in the in the bank

[01:16:38] You'll see first where there's a pick somebody else

[01:16:43] Yeah

[01:16:44] The physical comedy of Martin Short is what makes his film that's why I think it's okay

[01:16:49] 100% I mean, I think I remember the cover of the movie like I think like the VHS cover of the movie was Nick Nalty holding Martin Short

[01:16:58] And a little girl

[01:17:00] This time yeah, so that was yeah, that was real

[01:17:04] I'm so glad you knew what movie that was

[01:17:07] That's a such a great pick

[01:17:10] I hadn't thought about that moving so long, but yeah, absolutely adore it

[01:17:14] And he was in it. He was the only other beginning and yeah

[01:17:19] And I think at the end, but that was it yeah, it's not a large role for him, but it's just

[01:17:25] I just remembered it so well that I was like yeah, like okay. I'm gonna make sure this is in my honorable mentions

[01:17:32] So um

[01:17:34] Great picks all around both in our top five's and

[01:17:38] Our honorable mentions

[01:17:40] I'm glad that I got to have you on to do this to

[01:17:43] Patriot to James Earl Jones in this and celebrate his work in the way that we did

[01:17:49] But I don't want to let you go before giving you the opportunity to tell people what you have going on because I'm sure

[01:17:55] I mentioned comic book gurus so and every time I turn around and I look at something on social media you are

[01:18:02] In one of your amazing suits hosting some kind of event or

[01:18:08] You know helping someone with their charity thing and like it's one of the reasons why I'm so glad you and I've remained friends all this time because I love seeing you do stuff like that

[01:18:18] So before let you go

[01:18:20] What have you got going on? This is your time to plug away anything that you want to plug

[01:18:25] I will plug the comic book gurus

[01:18:28] We can we are now on YouTube channel so you can find us on YouTube subscribe there

[01:18:33] I will say that a kind of a group is Facebook page just past 21 thousand followers. That's awesome

[01:18:40] Thank you for everyone that support this on our Facebook page

[01:18:45] Follow us on Twitter or X if you like as far as what I'm doing personally

[01:18:51] I got shut out of the fringe this year, but it's okay because thanks to that it gave me the impetus to do something even spectacular

[01:19:00] You're gonna have to wait a while but coming

[01:19:03] February 28th 2025 the last day of black history month. I am doing

[01:19:09] Friday night live Friday night live the Craig Lagons variety show at the return to theater from seven to ten live show

[01:19:19] I

[01:19:21] Comics I have a singer

[01:19:23] I have dancers. I have sketches. I have a video tape sketch

[01:19:28] Hopefully that I'll shoot at the end of this month, but it will this will be Saturday night live on Friday night

[01:19:35] Hopefully it'll be a monthly thing but starting February 28th 2025

[01:19:39] Friday night live the Craig Lagons variety hour

[01:19:43] This you have no idea how happy I am to hear this

[01:19:49] Because I I want to say to anybody out there so

[01:19:54] My life in 19 inches

[01:19:57] Was your old your your one man show that you did a number of times and I think with the exception of maybe once

[01:20:05] I was in the audience for all of them

[01:20:08] Because I just loved seeing you do this performance and then you did do another variety show at one point too

[01:20:16] That you asked me and I this still bugs me to this day because you asked me to be a part of it as an audience member

[01:20:23] And I flipped it I screwed it up and you being the consummate performer that you are you

[01:20:31] You went with it and you you improv it and you made it work, but I just remember being like sitting back down after that moment being like

[01:20:39] Shit, that's not what I was supposed to say

[01:20:41] I screwed it up

[01:20:43] One line

[01:20:46] One line and I screwed it up

[01:20:49] And I think and they to to your credit the reason why I screwed it up was because I knew it was coming

[01:20:56] But I was so engrossed at everything that was happening you had magicians and you had

[01:21:01] Musicians like you had all this great stuff

[01:21:03] I like I was so engrossed in it that when the moment finally came in my brain

[01:21:08] I was like oh shit, it's here like I gotta do this and I just couldn't think of it

[01:21:12] I couldn't think of it properly

[01:23:03] It should only be one of me. This is very very true

[01:23:07] Um

[01:23:08] I couldn't think of a better person for me to kick off the new season with for me to talk about James old Jones with and celebrate his works

[01:23:15] Craig, thank you so much for coming on and doing this with me

[01:23:55] Just a stay tuned

[01:24:02] That brings us to the end of another episode of Will Helm I want to give a big thank you

[01:24:09] To my guest Craig Legans for joining me on this episode to discuss top five favorite James old Jones movies

[01:24:15] You know, this wasn't initially the episode I had planned for the season premiere of

[01:24:21] Will Helm I had already had another episode in mind and scheduled to record and

[01:24:26] That episode has been recorded in is still coming soon and that's top five favorite Tom Hanks movies

[01:24:32] You're gonna catch that win in a couple weeks, but you know right before

[01:24:36] We started recording right before the announcement of the new season and the planning of the new season

[01:24:41] We got the sadness that James old Jones had died so I wanted to put the word out and I figured what better way to kind of

[01:24:50] Patribute and celebrate the works of James old Jones as we did in this episode then to make it the season premiere

[01:24:56] So thankfully Craig stepped up

[01:24:58] Volunteered came on can't really think of anybody better to have done this episode because he

[01:25:05] Really gave some great suggestions in his top five for movies that I myself need to check out

[01:25:10] So hopefully you guys out there listening

[01:25:12] You hear these suggestions and you'll want to check some of them out too if they're ones you've never seen so

[01:25:18] Thank you once again to Craig LeGons for coming on and

[01:25:22] Being a great guest as he always is and always will be the next couple times that we have him on because

[01:25:28] This isn't the last time Craig has been on make sure you check out Craig's podcast

[01:25:33] Come book gurus with him and rockstar Rob and Steve Morrison and staff there other co-hosts

[01:25:38] They are great

[01:25:40] podcasters about comic books

[01:25:42] comic book movies comic book pop culture. It's a great

[01:25:46] podcast listen to comic book gurus just find it wherever you find podcasts and you'll be able to

[01:25:52] Listen to some great content and as he mentioned they're on YouTube now, which is great

[01:25:55] You can watch video versions of the of the podcast

[01:25:59] But that takes it into some listener feedback which I always do in this this portion of the podcast and you guys didn't disappoint

[01:26:09] You guys left me some great feedback on social media

[01:26:12] Let's dive into some of that now. I put the word out

[01:26:16] I said, you know we were doing top five favorite Jamesville Jones movies what were some of your favorites and why

[01:26:22] So here we go starting first with Jennifer Kennedy

[01:26:25] She says not a movie but his episode on the big bang theory is just the best

[01:26:31] Him and Sheldon in the steam room with a smiley face emoji

[01:26:35] I mentioned that during the during our

[01:26:38] discussion of this that whole episode with him

[01:26:42] On the big bang theory is just one of the best episodes of the series him and the steam room sheldon first running into him

[01:26:50] knocking on Carrie Fisher's door and redoing ding-dong ditch to carry Fisher is one of the best elements of that episode

[01:26:57] Mainly because if you don't know this already if you're a big bang theory fan you've seen this episode

[01:27:03] And you don't know this already

[01:27:06] Believe it or not that was actually the first time that Jamesville Jones and Carrie

[01:27:11] Fisher had ever met

[01:27:13] Because Jamesville Jones being a part of Star Wars was just the voice. He was in a studio

[01:27:17] He was never on set

[01:27:19] So all of the movies that they had done together

[01:27:22] They had never met until they did the big bang theory which I think is just a fun little

[01:27:28] Little story so if you

[01:27:30] If you didn't know that now you do

[01:27:33] Megan Dively Leeman

[01:27:35] Says move-asa should not be overlooked

[01:27:37] He gave a gravity to the film the perfect voice casting for the role was an overlook by me was in my top five so

[01:27:45] Yep move-asa the the truking

[01:27:49] Kelly Williams Palombai says I loved him in field of dreams which is also my favorite movie

[01:27:56] He's a big reason it's my favorite movie

[01:27:58] Something about the way he delivers the line you said your finger was a gun that cracks me up every time

[01:28:04] His walking to the corn was a scene that I knew a time would come when that scene would hit harder

[01:28:11] So yeah feel the dreams as you've heard my number one in my top five so I feel you on that one Kelly every single bit

[01:28:20] Gillian Moreau says watching field of dreams as I type this

[01:28:24] Such an iconic presence in whatever he did and a voice like no other

[01:28:29] Mufasa is James Earl Jones that role could not have been cast any more perfectly and will always stand out stand out to me as

[01:28:38] My favorite role he did

[01:28:41] Again two more in my top five we're on a roll here guys

[01:28:46] Saragir I loved him in field of dreams and the sandlot

[01:28:50] He just brought such a wholesome vibe to both movies

[01:28:53] I have a special attachment to field of dreams because my grandfather loved that movie

[01:28:57] That's a great attachment to have I love that Sarah

[01:29:01] Again field of dreams in the sandlot both in my top five as well and

[01:29:06] Yeah, there's a number of people I know who have connections to field of dreams when it comes to family or

[01:29:12] Special moments sharing special moments with special people about watching that movie together

[01:29:16] Same thing can go with the sandlot too if you're watching that with with kids

[01:29:19] You know your kids and you're showing that movie too

[01:29:23] To them for the first time

[01:29:24] After you watch it as a kid, it's it really really does create that that special connection

[01:29:32] Joe Graziano says Star Wars aside my favorite is th also doom from cone in the barbarian and the coach from best of the best

[01:29:41] Ooh best of the best was one that wasn't mentioned from either Craig or myself

[01:29:45] So that was a good one to throw in there Joe. Thank you for that one and Star Wars. I mean come on

[01:29:50] You got to you got to step up like Craig and I did you got to choose a favorite

[01:29:54] You can't just say the entire blanket Star Wars franchise. There's too many there

[01:29:59] That becomes more than just a top five that becomes all of your top five and then some so

[01:30:04] Step it up you got to choose one we did we both chose Empire so fair enough

[01:30:10] Randall John Moir says the great white hope and amazing acting performance well before he was flamis for his voice

[01:30:17] And Craig agreed with you there Randy he

[01:30:20] Had the great white hope as his to and you know that was a movie I I have never seen so it is on my list for movies of that along with Claudine

[01:30:30] Our movies that are on my list now to make sure I watch

[01:30:34] To personally celebrate James O'Jones's work and watching them as well

[01:30:40] And last but not least from Billy Taylor. I obviously love James O'Jones and Star Wars love Tim as Moofasa in the Lion King

[01:30:48] Love Tim in the Sandlot. I love Tim as the King of Zimunda in coming to America

[01:30:53] I'm a big Superman guy so another role that stands out to me is when he played Franklin Stern

[01:30:58] In Lowe's and Clark the new adventures a Superman and he saved the daily planet

[01:31:04] Rest in peace Mr. Jones you've left a legacy that will live on for generations to come I

[01:31:11] Completely forgot that he does show up in Lowe's and Clark the new adventures a Superman

[01:31:16] I

[01:31:18] Love that show when it was on because I myself am a big Superman fan

[01:31:23] I've kind of lost this show is kind of lost a little bit of its luster to me because of

[01:31:30] How can I put this gingerly certain elements

[01:31:34] Certain actions of certain actors who have or in that show not to mention the fact that Tyler Hawkelin is kind of

[01:31:41] I also mentioned in I'll no I mentioned him in the Tom Hanks episode. Sorry

[01:31:46] Which is coming

[01:31:49] Sorry recorded before I recorded this so I confused for a minute, but

[01:31:53] Tyler Hawkelin has stepped up as an amazing Superman and and Superman and Lowe has kind of overshadowed

[01:32:01] Lowe said Clark

[01:32:04] Loose and Clark. So

[01:32:05] Sorry about that

[01:32:07] I'm sure Billy you understand, but

[01:32:09] Thank you so much to everybody who submitted feedback

[01:32:13] I always love hearing it

[01:32:15] If you want to make sure you can leave feedback for future episodes

[01:32:19] Easiest way to do that is go to the website and you'll find a link there for the Facebook group

[01:32:25] It's called Wilhelm discussion and I always post in there what episodes are coming up and give you the opportunity to leave that

[01:32:32] Or if you are not on Facebook and you just want to leave it directly you can always email me

[01:32:38] Facebook at

[01:32:39] Wilhelmpodcast.com the next episode as I mentioned

[01:32:42] That you can start leaving feedback is Tom Hanks

[01:32:45] It's gonna be top five favorite Tom Hanks episodes. However that is not the next episode of Wilhelm

[01:32:51] You're going to hear the next episode of Wilhelm that you're going to hear is the audio of my panel with Ross Mark Juan from

[01:32:58] Contrapalist New Jersey earlier this year

[01:33:01] I've been a fan of Ross's for a while if you're not aware of him he

[01:33:05] Was on the walking dead. He is the per voice of Professor X in the new Xman 97 series

[01:33:10] He was a red skull in Avengers in Fendiwar and Avengers endgame

[01:33:16] He he's a great impressionist. He's done a ton of other work

[01:33:20] I've been a big fan of his for a while and I've never had the opportunity to moderate a panel with him one on one

[01:33:27] And I finally got that opportunity we had an absolute blast

[01:33:31] So I have a bunch of panel audio from panels. I've done over the past year, so

[01:33:35] Then I'm gonna be releasing over the course of this season and

[01:33:39] That one is just one of my favorite so it's coming next the next week. You're gonna hear my panel audio with Ross Mark Juan

[01:33:45] Which I'm really excited for you guys to hear but

[01:33:48] Two weeks from now you will get top five favorite Tom Hanks

[01:33:53] Movies with Alex Kruger who's gonna be returning

[01:33:56] From the episode he did a couple months ago, which was our top five favorite baseball movies

[01:34:00] So I was really excited to get Alex back on it's a hell of an episode

[01:34:04] You guys are really really gonna enjoy that and you'll have the opportunity to leave feedback for that as well

[01:34:10] Before I wrap things up again just a quick reminder that you can find Wilhelm on all major podcast platforms

[01:34:16] If you're not already subscribed

[01:34:17] Including Spotify Apple podcasts or wherever you're listening to podcasts if you're listening to this on the website or you just happen to find this and you're not subscribed to the podcast

[01:34:26] Please don't forget to subscribe so that you never miss an episode and tell your friends about the podcast because

[01:34:33] Word of mouth is the best way to promote anything including this podcast if you enjoy it

[01:34:39] Tell your friends about it get them to listen as well and that really helps me out

[01:34:44] You can also follow Wilhelm on social media you can find the podcast on Instagram and Facebook at

[01:34:49] Wilhelm podcast or you can just simply visit the website at welcome to Wilhelm.com

[01:34:55] For all the latest updates ways to leave feedback ways to follow on social media

[01:35:01] All of that everything is right there on the website welcome to Wilhelm.com

[01:35:07] Also the exciting news I've been talking about for a while Wilhelm will finally be launching a patreon very soon

[01:35:13] It's gonna be coming within the next month or two

[01:35:15] Just finalizing a lot of things. I'm trying not to kind of like

[01:35:19] I know a lot of patreon accounts have like this level and this level and this level and this level and this level

[01:35:24] And so many levels

[01:35:26] I'm trying to simplify it as best as I can because I'm not trying to make money

[01:35:31] off of the patreon the patreon is simply

[01:35:35] podcasting like this cost money. So I'm basically just trying to keep it simple and help

[01:35:43] You know

[01:35:44] entice you guys to be a part of it and be a part of the show and be a part of the patreon to help me support the show

[01:35:50] The patreon is simply too offset costs. I'm not looking to become rich from it because

[01:35:55] It's beyond us nobody comes rich from patreon

[01:35:59] Everybody I know who has a patreon puts patreon money

[01:36:03] Put those contributions back into the show and that's exactly what I plan to do as well

[01:36:08] So the patreon will be launching very soon if you want to help support the show and get access to some exclusive content

[01:36:15] Keep an eye out for that that is the way to do it

[01:36:18] Last but not least if you're attending any conventions that I'm gonna be at

[01:36:22] Please make sure to find me and come say hi

[01:36:26] I'm gonna be at Teracon in Marble, Massachusetts

[01:36:29] And to this month from September 27th through the 29th and

[01:36:34] I'm gonna be at Rhode Island Comic-Con in Providence, Rhode Island from November 1st through November 3rd

[01:36:40] These are two shows that I'm really looking forward to

[01:36:44] Teracon because I'm a huge horror fan so to have a horror themed event

[01:36:48] Really excited for that plus I'm gonna be on stage

[01:36:51] hosting a reunion of the killer clowns from outer space cast which I adore that movie

[01:36:57] As well as doing a one-on-one with Zach Galligan who if you don't know who that is he played Billy in the

[01:37:03] Gremlin's films as well as some other roles

[01:37:05] So really looking forward to both of those panels at Teracon and I have some big

[01:37:12] Big things happening at Rhode Island Comic-Con

[01:37:16] In Providence November 1st through the 3rd. I

[01:37:19] I will be announcing those things very very soon and when I say big

[01:37:24] I mean this quite possibly might be the biggest thing I have ever done

[01:37:33] So some of you already know what it is some of you who are

[01:37:37] Listeners and friends already know what it is

[01:37:40] But I will be announcing that very very soon maybe within the next two weeks actually with the Tom Hanks episode

[01:37:46] We'll find out but um yeah if you're at any events

[01:37:50] Matt whether it's this year next year in the future please stop by say hi

[01:37:55] I love meeting people that way but I think that is gonna wrap it up for this episode of
