[00:00:25] Oh!

[00:00:26] Oh!

[00:00:27] Oh!

[00:00:28] Oh! Oh, like they end up having to go to the International Space Station to get oxygen. Otherwise they're going to run out. The communication system isn't set for them to be able to communicate back. So there's a particular scene. I'm not giving launched into space. If you watch the movie, it makes sense. It's like, it's like, um, what is that? What is that movie with? It's for kids.

[00:03:01] It's like secret. The kids are secret agents,

[00:03:05] but their parents are secret agents, but the.

[00:03:07] Oh, it's by kids. with another movie swap. Oh my gosh. I can't handle it. Yeah. Hilarious. Absolutely. This was the best. This was the best way to open this episode seriously. Oh my gosh. They accidentally launched into space. You know, you can't make this

[00:04:22] shit up. I'm going to give you that movie one day, I didn't. Yes, you did. No, I did not. Because Affleck was fucking amazing as Batman. Was he as good as Michael Keaton or Christian Bale? No. Christian Bale was only good in two of the movies he did. No, he was not. The Dark Knight

[00:05:40] Rises was shit. The Dark Knight Rises are crazy. We didn't even finish it. I couldn't handle it. I told Dave, I was like, it's too much. It's just too much. So then I take it, you're not gonna watch Furiosa? Fuck no. Oh, you're crazy. I, well, I also am not that big of a Charlize Theron fan ever since I watched. Well, Charlize Theron is not in Furiosa.

[00:07:01] But she, why?

[00:07:03] It's a prequel.

[00:07:06] Okay.

[00:07:06] On YouTailorJoy is playing Furiosa. and they're just like, this guy's fucking crazy. I mean, he is Thor. Chris Hemsworth is amazing, but I walk in and Dave's watching it, and I'm like, Ooh, what are we doing here? What are we watching here? I just sat down and I'm just like, this is wonderful. Like, I don't know what he's doing. He is just like this beautiful specimen that's just nice to watch.

[00:08:21] And he's funny.

[00:08:23] He's funny.

[00:08:24] He's a good actor.

[00:08:25] He's great. So I gave you a Matthew Perry movie. Yeah. And then he ended up passing away. So it took, we had to give it a little time. Cause it was rough. It was rough to watch anything with him. Well, we're both huge friends fans. We're both huge Matthew Perry fans. So when Matthew Perry died,

[00:09:40] that just kind of killed everything.

[00:09:43] We were almost ready to just like,

[00:09:44] we were at one point, we were like,

[00:09:46] let's just sign each other to new movies and start over. And the movie doesn't age well. How's that? Okay. Um, because we are a lot more accepting and forgiving of everybody's differences and homosexuality. And this kind of made homosexuality like it poked fun at homosexuality in a very specific way.

[00:11:01] And it used a lot of stereotypes, I mean, I guess that there was like a big, there was like a long period of time where Dylan McDermott was like in everything for some reason. He was like, for some, yeah, no, I agree with you.

[00:12:20] He had a really good run in like the 90s to 2000s.

[00:12:26] Early on.

[00:12:27] Yeah. ruining my good movie. I was okay with Russell Crowe, but that's another. Who are people that sing through their nose? It's a whole nother conversation. But I mean, you do bring up a good point with Dylan McDermott, and I feel like, you know, this movie came out in 99. Dylan McDermott was already three seasons

[00:13:40] into the practice.

[00:13:41] Nev Campbell had been doing party of five for a while.

[00:13:44] And Matthew Perry was deep in the friends.

[00:13:48] Was deep in the friends. So this was before Scrub. Yeah, I, um, the movie had potential, but I just don't think that it was done very well. I think that you could probably reboot it and redo it now. And it would probably with a better script and it would probably be better. Um, you know, be fun to watch Dan Levy as the Oliver Platt role.

[00:15:03] Oh, that, ooh, that could work.

[00:15:08] Right. But made it like a dark, a dark comedy. And yeah, I think it comes out, I think towards the end of the month on Netflix. Oh, cool. Yeah. I'm excited to see that. Yeah, it's a Netflix movie, so it's not going to be theaters. But I think it's December 29th, I think, is when that comes out.

[00:16:20] Sure.

[00:16:22] Matthew Perry's book, Friends, Lovers, and the

[00:17:21] I mean, yeah, that's odd. I didn't know that because it's always been,

[00:17:23] it's been one of my favorite like go to 90s movies.

[00:17:26] And it's okay that you didn't care for it

[00:17:28] because I understand your reasoning is why.

[00:17:30] But it's, yeah, it's,

[00:17:32] if he didn't enjoy being on that set, it didn't show.

[00:17:35] Cause I think he's great in the movie.

[00:17:37] He's a professional.

[00:17:38] He's, I mean, he's wonderful.

[00:17:41] I mean, he used to come to friends, you know,

[00:17:44] high drunk, stoned, hungover, blacked Ross, poor Ross. My sister was Monica, because my sister has always been like the neat freak. I've got to tell you, the older I get, the more Monica I am. It's weird. But also, I mean, friends got me through friends. I watched friends through both, both of my labors with my children.

[00:19:00] Like, I watch friends when I'm sad, when I'm going with this. That's okay. Your cat was agreeing with you. So she's very annoyed. She's, I, it's a weird off topic. What that's what this podcast is. She's been very needy lately and very talkative and which one is this?

[00:20:20] Aurora.

[00:20:21] Oh, and I'm anybody that doesn't know Aurora is his favorite cat.

[00:20:26] Yes, she is.

[00:20:28] And she's gorgeous. over to the chair, lays between my legs and no lie, she could sit there for four hours. And then I have to get up for some reason, whether it's used a bathroom, use the computer, whatever, she will legitimately be mad at me. I'm like, you just spent four hours on my lap.

[00:21:42] How are you mad? I can absolutely see where some of it feels dated because it is again, late 90s, 99 was the year it came out. It was about a, at the time, something that was a pretty hot topic that has become an even hotter topic now. Although sometimes although it doesn't feel that way, I think we've become more accepting of it as a culture.

[00:23:01] Since 1999, absolutely, because we're not making fun of it anymore on television. where he's perceived as gay again, and he has to pretend to be a gay guy for like half the movie. Well, maybe that's one of the reasons why he was cast to do it. Well, of course it was. You know, there's a particular line that he has in the movie too that always makes me laugh because he did a bit on SNL very similar to it. There's one moment in the movie where he goes,

[00:24:21] I'm Batman.

[00:24:22] And it's, and he did, he played in an episode of SNL,

[00:25:22] right now. Well, he's in the bear.

[00:25:27] Okay, well, and he was also in chef too, which I gave you a couple episodes. That's a great movie too. Yeah, I like that

[00:25:29] movie. He's in the bear and he's very good in the bear. If you

[00:25:34] haven't seen the bear, I recommend it. I haven't seen the

[00:25:37] bear and I also never got to the point in the West Wing where

[00:25:39] he's in yet either. Oh my gosh, he's so good in West Wing. I

[00:25:42] need to restart that. I need to start from the beginning and

[00:25:44] just and just plow through it. Oh my gosh, I love the West Wing.

[00:26:46] the West Wing, and it's one of my favorite podcast episodes of all time that I've ever listened to. It's just, but I'm a huge fan of the West Wing. It's one of my favorite all-time shows.

[00:26:50] Yeah.

[00:26:51] And you get a lot of insider information that almost all of the cast guests on West Wing Weekly,

[00:26:59] it's so phenomenally done. I think it's Quentin Tarantino directs those episodes. Did you know that? Oh, no, I didn't know that. Quentin Tarantino directed those episodes. I want to say like, I like, I know we're way off topic and we're going to get to my

[00:28:23] movie in a second, but I'm in my rewatch of CSI.

[00:31:00] Well, I haven't gotten to Ted dancing yet. I'm still on the Lawrence Fishburne. Oh, he was good in that show. He's great. But Warwick, when Warwick is favorite, favorite scene with him. Well, but another character that I absolutely love in the show now who was horrible the first season is Jim Brass.

[00:31:02] Oh yeah, he was a dick in the first season.

[00:31:06] Yeah, especially to Catherine Willows. And all the other cops are staring at him because he's the reason this officer is dead, but the why's there? And that, but the wife of that officer goes up to him and hugs him. Mm hmm. Like it's a huge moment for brass. It also I was like, oh, like I don't know if I want to keep watching it. And then the second season they brought back Mark Helgenberger. Oh, good. So, Sarah came back to. Well, Sarah came back in the first season and then yeah, I think she I think she stayed for the second. Yeah, I love Sarah Cydal.

[00:33:40] I do too. Yeah.

[00:33:42] All right. So, so many of those.

[00:33:44] Let's let's go back to movies.

[00:33:45] Yeah. Sorry for that. ago. And Penner, I was watching this movie for the second time realized he was also an executive producer on this movie. So, another giant cast in the in the 90s movie. I will start by saying this, the movie is an hour and 32 minutes long.

[00:35:01] Yeah.

[00:35:01] Thank goodness it wasn't longer.

[00:35:04] Yeah.

[00:35:06] It's such a weird movie.

[00:35:08] Um,

[00:36:01] Tomatoes. So the basic premise of the movie since we did this with the readout.

[00:36:04] So many tomatoes.

[00:36:06] It's a group of idealistic liberals just succumb to the temptation of like they're just murdering

[00:36:15] right-wing conservative people.

[00:36:16] But it starts by accident.

[00:36:18] It starts by total accident.

[00:36:20] It starts by accident.

[00:36:21] And like the weirdest thing is like the first guy that they kill was in self-defense.

[00:36:27] Yeah. who is going to change from red to white during dinner? Nobody. Nobody, make them both the same freaking kind of wine. But I don't even drink white wine. You know what I mean? I only drink red wine. So if I'm being killed, I'm not going to drink the wine. That's what I mean.

[00:37:41] It's like, you're drinking red

[00:37:46] because that's the normal wine.

[00:37:48] That's the wine that's a lot of tomatoes. Okay, well, I guess I'm in it now. So. So there's a part of me as like a major like cinephile and movie lover is I'm watching. And like you see like every time they bury a body, they bury it in the backyard and they plant tomatoes so that the body decay can fertilize the tomatoes.

[00:39:02] I'm not eating those tomatoes.

[00:39:03] No, not could see that. Did you notice that all of the idealistic liberals all had apostle names or disciple names? Jude Mark Luke. Well, Paul Lee's not a, oh, Paul. Yep. And Pete, who's Pete?

[00:40:20] Oh, Peter.

[00:40:21] Peter.

[00:40:22] Oh, yeah.

[00:40:23] Jude is Judas.

[00:40:26] Well, I said Jude. Yeah, just yeah, because I'm sure nobody's asked him that question in decades. I really want to know. So the other thing too is for the first half of the movie, if not longer into it, they keep going to the cutaway of Nora Dunn as the sheriff who's chasing this little girl.

[00:41:42] And I'm so sorry.

[00:44:05] I got to the point and I hate saying this. Like for the heart, for most of the movie,

[00:44:08] every time you see him on the screen

[00:44:10] and he spewing his garbage, I'm like,

[00:44:12] oh, hope he has to end up at the table at some point.

[00:44:15] Like that's what they're leading to.

[00:44:17] And then it gets to the point where at the end,

[00:44:19] they're questioning whether or not they should poison him.

[00:44:22] He comes to the realization,

[00:44:24] he sees that newspaper about the nine missing people.

[00:44:27] He looks outside, he sees the nine bod, better. Come on. Come on. And I say that as the most sarcastic of what? Yeah. But see now you have now you have something to talk about with any of these actors. If you ever see them again at cons like, was it Ron Perlman literally just out Rhode Island Comic Con Ron Perlman was it? You could have had this conversation with him. No, I'm not going to give Ron Perlman the dissatisfied like the disservice of bringing house burned down. It didn't really. Yeah. Good because it wanted the cleanse itself of this stuff. I really hope that us discussing this gets people to

[00:47:02] watch it.

[00:47:03] I do. I kind of feel like, you're really not. I'm not even a little bit because I get to talk about this movie with somebody.

[00:48:26] It's like one of those movies where I Michael Hall and like it's a great freaking movie. All right. But he plays such a dick in that movie as one of the characters older brothers. He gets turned to a pile of shit. A talking, yeah, rightfully so, it should be. Yeah. But at one point, Luke is like, how about some wine? Oh, one sip ain't gonna hurt. I'm like, Jesus Christ, this is horrible. Yeah. Not only are you ordering people, but now you're- Well, that is basically just to showcase how terrible they are.

[00:51:03] Like, how unbelievably terrible they are.

[00:51:07] Yeah. as a nod to its predecessor. I don't think so, but that would be amazing if they did. Do you think somebody had watched The Last Supper and was like, I could reboot this? I could do this better. Craig, one of those tomatoes could have done this better.

[00:52:24] Oh my gosh. watch it to see if maybe I missed something and like I'll pay more attention to it. You missed something. Then I got to the end of the movie. I was like, nope, didn't miss a damn thing. Seriously, crying. I'm crying right now. Didn't miss a damn thing.

[00:53:40] Oh my gosh.

[00:53:41] It's so funny.

[00:53:43] You're horrible. movie at all. I'm giving you a movie from 2018 starring Nick Offerman. It's a movie called Heart Speed Loud. Okay. This sounds like I'm gonna cry. Not gonna tell you anything about it. Because that's part of the thing is we

[00:55:00] don't know anything about these movies. But radar. So I will get to knock it out. That's good. All right. I almost gave you a horror movie,

[00:56:22] just to punish you this week, but.

[00:56:24] You know, that would have been me.

[00:56:26] It's Christmas.

[00:56:28] True. Christmas. Miracle 34th Street. I love that movie. Die Hard. It's iconic. You'll never get it. Iconic Christmas. Give me a hint. It's black and white. White Christmas.

[00:57:40] No, I love that movie.

[00:57:43] Have you seen a white Christmas?

[00:57:45] Oh, yeah.

[00:57:46] Okay.

[00:57:47] Yeah. part of the story. As if you can take Christmas out of the movie and it doesn't change the story one bit. He's like, oh, that's not, I'm like, no, by your argument, it's a wonderful life is not a Christmas movie. Also home alone, also not a Christmas movie. That's true. You could say that for a lot of Christmas movies.

[00:59:00] You could say that for a lot of Christmas movies.

[00:59:02] Isn't Gremlins is PG and it was written by Chris Columbus, who did Harry Potter. He also a disservice. Yeah, he would. Not Nick Offerman, I wouldn't. Ron Swanson is like one of my two spirit guides. Roy Kent being the other one. If I knew Ron Swanson in real life, I would be very mad. Really? He's very fun and I like it,

[01:01:40] but his views on government and his close-mindedness

[01:01:46] about a lot of different subjects make me a little, going on on intended. Oh, no, I didn't even mean that. If you've got an hour and 32 minutes to poison with arsenic, go and watch the Last Supper. God damn it.

[01:03:04] I feel like I need to take a shower that movie. Yeah, you know, it's fine.

[01:03:06] It's good.
