[00:00:00] Did you see that?
[00:00:24] I know.
[00:00:25] It's Gopia Touchy something. discovery to start bringing the Ready Player One franchise to the metaverse early this year. The new online world dubbed the Readyverse will be filled with digital experiences like games and places to hang out with friends virtually through VR headsets and other devices. Oh my gosh, this is it. This is it. We's got with plaids creve Bring on president Camacho. I'm all for it here Lord No I'm actually very proud of the whole wall lead to idiocracy connection. That was great. Yeah, great super
[00:03:03] I'm so glad nobody's gonna care in ten years when you know
[00:04:03] We gave each other homework and we did our homework. So we have to discuss.
[00:04:05] Yeah.
[00:04:06] Yeah.
[00:04:07] Yeah.
[00:04:08] You gave me destination when both 2018 movies, by the way, didn't realize that.
[00:04:12] I literally just saw that, like, not five minutes ago.
[00:04:16] But we also did this thing last week.
[00:04:19] We did 90s movies.
[00:04:20] Oh, that's right.
[00:04:21] I accidentally.
[00:04:22] But I foreshadowed giving you a movie with an Emmy winner.
[00:04:28] Yeah. But my, my logic to that was like they were both playing homosexual men in a loving relationship in an apocalypse.
[00:05:41] Murray Bartlett is homosexual in real life.
[00:05:43] So he had already the knowledge to do it.
[00:06:42] And like he's, he's going to win an Emmy for this. And then I saw the people he was nominated against.
[00:06:45] And I was like, oof, I really, I hope he still wins this Emmy because he's nominated
[00:06:49] in some serious competition.
[00:06:52] And then he's, did you see that my boy one?
[00:06:56] Who's that?
[00:06:57] Killian Murphy.
[00:06:58] He did.
[00:06:59] Yeah, he did.
[00:07:00] Yeah.
[00:07:01] He did.
[00:07:02] Yeah.
[00:07:03] He did.
[00:07:04] What for Oppenheimer and R.D.J. 1 2 Oppenheimer did well.
[00:07:06] It's going to be a few.
[00:07:07] I sure hope think so. Because she was remarkable in that movie. She was. She was captivating. I think Emma Watson won. Yeah. For whatever category Emma... Emily Blunt would have been nominated. No. Let's see. Best picture, best director, best performance by an actor, best performance by an actress.
[00:08:24] Oh, no.
[00:08:25] Lily Gladstone from Killers of the Flower Moon won.
[00:08:28] Yeah, okay. is that a lot of actors who won, including Paul Giamatti and Weird Al Yankovic, because Weird Al Yankovic won a Golden Globius last night too. They all went to In-N-Out Burger. After? In their tuxes at all. That's awesome. Yeah. That's awesome. I miss In-N-Out so much.
[00:09:40] Never had it.
[00:09:42] Well, I know, you know how I know that you've never had it
[00:09:45] because you called it In-N-Out Burger.
[00:09:46] It's just In-N-Out.
[00:10:46] He got his straight A's and grandpa took him and he got his 10 by 10 and didn't finish it, but still ordered it. Holy crap.
[00:10:48] I just looked up images of in and out 10 by 10.
[00:10:51] Yeah.
[00:10:51] That is ridiculous.
[00:10:53] I know.
[00:10:54] But you know, it's it look in and out as a whole vibe.
[00:10:58] Oh my God.
[00:10:59] You have to live there.
[00:11:00] There are people that have tried the 100 by 100 challenge.
[00:11:03] I'm not.
[00:11:04] I'm not surprised.
[00:11:05] No, we are a gluttonous country.
[00:11:07] Yeah, that's why we're going up. loud. Who, where do you want to start? Do you want me to start with that? You start. Yeah. Okay. So destination wedding from 2018, Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, the only two actors in the movie to have dialogue. Let me tell you, there are moments in this movie, there are moments of dialogue in this movie.
[00:13:25] twice. And she calls him out on it four times. But then when she says like, it's not like you could get in front of me anyway, the only way you can get ahead is if you have,
[00:13:30] is if you have a special need, do you have a special need? He's like, yes, I need to
[00:13:34] be over there. I was like, I was dying.
[00:13:39] Well, I mean, you can just tell with that movie that Winona writer and Keanu Reeves
[00:13:45] are very comfortable with each other. Obviously, I want to I just want to have a beer with Keanu like that. I want to have a lot more than a beer with him. A beer and a tug like a smoke.
[00:15:01] Yeah, I think I think you know exactly how I feel. He, because the contract negotiation was so precise and it wasn't because he was asking for any, he wasn't asking for a lot of money. It was everything that was earned, whether it be from admission or photo ops or autographs, everything was getting split between multiple charities. He was not keeping a dime of it.
[00:16:20] He doesn't even keep his own paychecks.
[00:16:23] No.
[00:16:23] Yeah.
[00:16:24] So like, and it was, and the reason I get that. I'm just saying like, you know, that's why I was being brought in. Yeah. There's a few of them where I'm just like, no. Well, see, I would have gotten the geek out out before we were even on stage. No, that's that's what I'm saying, though. I don't know that that could have ever. It would have ever gone away.
[00:17:40] Exactly.
[00:17:41] It would have been like those out of body.
[00:17:44] And anyways, yeah, getting would left your mother? He's like, left is not a strong enough word, fled. And he's like for an older woman, and he says he would have left for an otter.
[00:19:04] That line had me rolling.
[00:19:09] And then the other line that really, she caused it. There's... Wewolves. Oh shit, we'll see other line towards the end of the movie. It was actually one of Lindsay's lines. Oh, Frank says, can we still hang together at the farewell brunch?
[00:20:20] She's like, who else am I going to hang with? Although I suppose I can hang myself.
[00:21:29] a baby. Do you want to bully her a girl? You're asking me now? I'm killing time. I mean, that was that was fun. But I like, I don't know. But then so I started losing a little
[00:21:33] bit of interest once they got together. But then the conversation with the two of them
[00:21:37] in bed, I kind of started gaining it back. Okay. A little bit. Like what he's talking
[00:21:44] about her pachamas, like Superman couldn't see through those things. Right you said, they might possibly be married. It could be married. Nobody knows. It could be an old married couple. We don't know. They just have such a great chemistry on and off the screen together that you could actually watch this movie and swear they were married. Yeah. You really could. I think they used I think they dated for a really long time too. I wouldn't surprise me at all. Yeah. I mean,
[00:23:03] you know, they're 90s powerhouses on their own. But I am a big fan of Keanu. I just like the Keanu Sans is real. Yeah, he's so amazing. I love you so much. Always be my maybe his cameo and that was fantastic. And he yeah, he's just I mean, look, he's Duke Kaboom and Toy Story.
[00:24:22] He is.
[00:24:23] He's Duke Kaboom.
[00:24:24] Yep.
[00:24:25] He's just he's fantastic. Great. Can we, uh, can stranger things be one of them? Um, well, they're not movies. I don't care. Can stranger things be one of them anyways. Sure. Yay. We'll do top five favorite. Why known of projects. Okay. There we go. Stranger things in reality bites. Well, reality bites is a great movie. Oh, reality bites was my jam. Was my jam.
[00:25:42] That was my soundtrack. That was my movie. I loved reality bites.
[00:26:43] And she was a baker and she made cinnamon rolls.
[00:26:46] And Keanu Reeves was a guy. Isn't it?
[00:26:48] No, some of these got to give us with.
[00:26:51] Oh, no, that's how it hunt.
[00:26:53] No, no, some things.
[00:26:54] No, some things got to give us Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton.
[00:26:57] That's Keanu Reeves.
[00:26:59] Yeah, that's what.
[00:27:00] OK, then I was right.
[00:27:01] Then I was right.
[00:27:02] OK, isn't that?
[00:27:03] Yeah, because Favreau's in that too.
[00:27:05] Yeah, OK, OK, I had it right. And she can't get it and he's like would you like me to do it? And he takes the bag from her and he tries getting it. He's like, this seems to have a broken notch. It's just the delivery of it. And the fact that he was wrong. Oh, gosh.
[00:28:20] Yeah.
[00:28:20] It was a good movie.
[00:28:21] I liked it.
[00:28:22] It's so good.
[00:28:23] Yeah.
[00:28:24] I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
[00:28:26] I did. So the movie is about a father or a man. It's about a man and his name is, oh, come on, Kristen, Fisher, something Fisher. For just watch the movie. Frank! Two Frank's! That's why I didn't want to say Frank because I thought for sure I had it wrong. Yeah, two Frank's.
[00:29:42] That's a really big coincidence, yeah. start writing music together. They write a song in one night and everything just kind of, it's funny because the movie you think is going to take a certain direction that they're going to start touring and they're going to do this, they're going to do that. But it's more about, the movie's more about just keeping it all so simple and keeping it
[00:32:06] And, you know, as a parent, I know huge sacrifices for Sam to attend UCLA.
[00:32:15] Um, and I just love that by the end of the movie, it's these, it's this father-daughter
[00:32:22] relationship that has really evolved into something more mature and really fantastic.
[00:32:29] And he, when she falters and says, ourselves with our children, but our children still get to be their own people. We lay the foundation. They do with that foundation
[00:35:01] what they're going to do. We can only set her toes. That was somebody who was not lip syncing. Like the way that she was into that microphone, that was not somebody who was playing at it. And I have all of those songs on my Spotify playlist. They're all... Well, good because they're on Spotify. Yep.
[00:35:01] I really liked the logo of saying A- that be? Oh my gosh, yes. I would love that job if you can afford to make it work. But also at the same time, he's developing feelings for another person,
[00:36:20] probably for the first time since losing his partner.
[00:36:23] And it's not going exactly as planned.
[00:36:26] No, he fits there's Ron Swanson. There he is. Um, but uh, I do, I did enjoy slash hold my breath a little bit of the scene where Sam came home at two 30 in the morning and she told her dad that she learned how to ride
[00:37:40] a bike that day.
[00:37:42] Yeah.
[00:37:43] And I just sat there. Or did she ask to ride a bike, learn how to ride a bike, and her dad couldn't bring himself to teach her? It might be a little bit of both, actually. I think it could be the fact that I think you're right. Frank was probably afraid to teach her how to ride a bike because it's how he lost Danielle. But at the same time, I think Sam probably also had that fear
[00:39:01] of even wanting to learn how to ride a bike
[00:39:03] because that's how her mom died.
[00:39:06] Yeah, yeah, absolutely. get on that bike because she was scared. She didn't want to have that same fate. So I totally get it. If that's how it was for her. I also totally get it that perhaps Frank maybe even told her at some point not to ride a bike. I could see how a bicycle would be a very complicated piece of
[00:40:20] equipment in their lives. Yeah, absolutely. And it's zinger and she's like oh yeah you were signed where's your studio album dad was your best selling album.
[00:41:40] Well he breaks out an album later he had one.
[00:41:43] Oh yeah yeah yeah.
[00:41:44] He breaks out of vinyl it's not Duke silver but I mean it's.
[00:42:43] Where's my pen? Oh, there it is. Meg and Malali book.
[00:42:47] The greatest love story ever told in oral history.
[00:42:50] It's so dirty.
[00:42:53] It's hysterical.
[00:42:55] His comedy special is hysterical.
[00:42:58] He's got a stand up special called American Ham.
[00:43:01] I love that.
[00:43:03] And it's fantastic.
[00:43:04] He is just a true Renaissance man. watching Cheers. And currently watching CSI in which I am at the point in the series where Ted Danson is. You need to just throw in the good place. So he's, but somebody else mentioned that too. They're like throwing the good place for the heck of it. But he went from bartender in Cheers to DB Russell in CSI who takes medicinal mushrooms.
[00:44:20] Now back to a bartender who just gets high all the time.
[00:44:24] That is a weird path.
[00:44:26] Yeah. like, you know, yeah, both of my parents. Okay. I want to use CLA and then I realized I had to work hard for it. And you know, I'm from the 90s. I graduated in the 90s. We didn't really work hard for anything. Got you.
[00:45:42] Uh, all right. So I guess we should give each other our homework for next episode.
[00:45:46] Um, why don't you go first?
[00:46:54] still going to change mine up a little bit. I'm going to give you, since you're giving me a little bit of like a blockbuster movie, I'm going to give you a bit of an action blockbuster movie better not be Jason Statham or Mars in Space. It's not Jesus.
[00:46:57] It is the entire Fast and Furious franchise.
[00:47:01] Yeah. Okay.
[00:47:02] Our next episode will be 2025. watch it, it's gonna pop until I take it out of new releases and it's gonna show twice. I thought I was like, are we just watching it this much? Like it just, it's just repeating and I'm getting you watching. No, Plex is weird like that word, it does that. Like if you watched something in a holiday movie that was also a new release, it would show up three times in your book. Okay, that makes so much sense because we'll just like
[00:48:20] delete it and delete it.
[00:48:21] Cause I think over the holidays too,
[00:48:24] I mean, we're just sitting there, we're like,
[00:48:25] who's watching all of this stuff? Oh, my kids want to know if you have seen the third maze runner yet. I haven't seen the second maze runner yet. Oh, I thought you watched it first too. Oh, no. Well, next week. No, I'll watch them on my own. You don't have to add them to the list. No, no, we're going to do it. No, I'm kidding.
[00:49:41] We made the agreement before we don't add sequels to the list.
[00:49:44] All right.
[00:49:45] Well, then what do we do about the John Wick fiasco? And I'm also confident there are probably new song packs out now. You have no idea how many there are. Why? Oh, that's right. You have it, don't you? Yeah. And we have a 10-year-old that needs to play it a couple times a week. Oh, so you it still gets a lot of use in your house? Yes.
[00:51:02] I haven't played it in over a year. Oh, come on down. We'll beat you.
[00:51:05] I don't know. I'm still good at it.
[00:52:03] All right, I might have to re-hook this back up. Yeah, of course you do.
[00:52:05] I'm going to have to hook this back up.
[00:52:08] Wait a minute, but you can't buy those packs on their own.
[00:52:12] Oh, yes, you can.
[00:52:14] The queen when you can, the weekend, you can, Lady Gaga, you can.
[00:52:18] But there's also a, apparently there's a Rolling Stones music pack.
[00:52:23] Are we getting paid for this?
[00:52:25] No.
[00:52:26] Yeah, not a sponsor. We got to fill the hour somehow. You know what? I don't care. I think that we're doing just fine. Look, the amount that we go off the rails on this on this particular edition of podcasts, I'm surprised it's not longer than an hour when we do it. Well, that's because we still we're still professional.
[00:53:41] Not really professional.
[00:53:44] Oh, we're not that professional.
[00:53:47] A couple of things worth mentioning.
[00:55:05] New episode of revisited coming out for a while. The new game I think is coming out soon. Star Wars outcast. Play Star Wars games, although that one looks great. That's Open World, right? Yeah. That's like GTA but in Star Wars land. It's the first Star Wars Open World game. Dave said that it looks like it plays like Grand Theft Auto. Probably.
[00:56:02] Ted Lasso ended in 2023. It did. So, Ted Lasso...
[00:56:03] Telling you to the list.
[00:56:04] Ted Lasso can be on the list.
[00:56:06] Led Tasso.
[00:56:10] Oh, Ted Lasso will be in my top five.
[00:56:12] Trust me.
[00:56:16] I love it.
[00:56:17] I think we all probably know where it's...
[00:56:18] Well, I don't know...
[00:56:21] It'll be in my top three, for sure.
[00:56:24] I got to look at what else there is
[00:56:26] before I make the judgment.
[00:56:27] I can't just say right So it's going to be probably another like another two weeks before we're doing the top five episode of 2023. I have like run through some movies and. Yeah, we'll carve out time. I'll find somebody else is going to join us for it. And then some time in like then before the end of January, it's going to hit.
[00:57:41] And then after January, we're going to be in the new top five episodes for everything else. that we'll never outgrow. I'll give you one that's gonna be on my list. I don't know where it's gonna be yet, just because I'm weird. Follow that bird. I don't even know what that is. It's Sesame Street's Follow That Bird. You've never seen Follow That Bird? No. It's about Big Bird running away from Sesame Street
[00:59:01] and all of the Sesame Street characters
[00:59:03] getting together to find him.
[00:59:05] Oh my gosh, I do remember this.
[00:59:07] Mm- hmm. I don't know because I found eight completely predictable. It had nothing to do with the fact that it was an all female cast. I had nothing to do with that whatsoever because I loved some of the cast.
[01:00:21] But the movie was completely predictable to me,
[01:00:23] whereas Ocean's 12, I think there's a teaser that there's like a shadow of somebody standing behind her and then you never see who it is as in like maybe Danny faked his death.
[01:01:40] Well, I should hope so. But I think, oh yeah, she visits Danny's grave at the end that it's been. Sorry. You are the angel of death we all know. Yeah, I am. I tend to be the angel of death. Any final notes before we go? No. If we wait for an hour. Alright, then with that being said, thank you for listening to this edition of The Will Home Movie Swap. Until next time, we'll see you in another episode. Bye!
