[00:00:00] Hey, I'm in the same boat Hickey Bear.
[00:00:14] My tummy's got more knots than Wayne's World 1 and 2 smushed together.
[00:00:17] And I don't know why I've been around great athletes all my life.
[00:00:20] Hey Roy, you're a great athlete.
[00:00:21] Not like Zava.
[00:00:22] Oh come on, don't sell yourself short.
[00:00:24] If anything, sell yourself tall and get it altered later.
[00:00:27] No, Zava's different.
[00:00:28] Just watch.
[00:00:29] We gotta make this fellow part of the team.
[00:00:32] Coach and superstar can't be all, how do you solve a problem like Maria?
[00:00:36] Although if you ask me, the Nazis are the real problem.
[00:00:38] That's the story of my right coach.
[00:00:39] Yeah, come on by the superior.
[00:00:40] Let's have a little perspective.
[00:00:41] Yeah, exactly.
[00:00:42] Sorry, Roy.
[00:00:43] I know you don't like all this musical theater talk this early in the morning.
[00:00:45] No, I don't allow it.
[00:00:46] I used to fancy Julie Andrews.
[00:00:47] Well, it still do to be fair.
[00:00:49] The voice, the eyes, the way you know she'd tell you off if you'd been bad.
[00:00:54] Mm-hmm.
[00:00:55] All right, we gotta do it.
[00:00:58] All-time favorite Julie Andrews character, go.
[00:01:00] Fucking Maria.
[00:01:01] Resolute as always coach, what do you got?
[00:01:03] Eliza Doolittle.
[00:01:04] Ooh, audio only performance, I love that.
[00:01:06] Professor Higgins.
[00:01:07] Come on in, Poppins.
[00:01:08] Mm-hmm, same.
[00:01:09] I'm right there with you.
[00:01:10] Trent, do you have one?
[00:01:11] You don't have to, you got one?
[00:01:12] Clarice Renaldi, Queen of Genovia.
[00:01:14] Ooh.
[00:01:15] Fuck yeah, Princess Diaries.
[00:01:18] Deep cut.
[00:01:19] Zagged.
[00:01:28] Yeah, might be all that you get.
[00:01:35] Yeah, yes, this might well be it.
[00:01:45] But here I know just which side.
[00:01:52] Welcome to another episode of the Revisited Podcast.
[00:01:55] I'm Ben.
[00:01:56] And I'm Kristen.
[00:01:59] This week we are revisiting Ted Lasso season three, episode three, four, five, one.
[00:02:05] I got it.
[00:02:07] Lots of numbers.
[00:02:08] Got all the numbers.
[00:02:09] Lots of numbers.
[00:02:10] Four, five, one.
[00:02:11] When Dave last night he goes, okay, you wanna go and I'll queue up four, five, one?
[00:02:15] I said, why are you saying numbers to me?
[00:02:18] He said that's the name of the episode.
[00:02:21] I go four, five, one.
[00:02:22] That's the name of the episode.
[00:02:24] Every single episode has a music connotation to it.
[00:02:28] And so I'm just like, well, why?
[00:02:32] So we missed last week.
[00:02:34] I'll tell you why.
[00:02:35] It's because Zava sucks.
[00:02:36] Well, we're gonna talk a lot about that.
[00:02:38] Yeah, but I'm just gonna open that up because I had to say it before we even started anything
[00:02:42] else.
[00:02:43] Zava sucks ass.
[00:02:44] And you're not wrong.
[00:02:46] Zava just sucks.
[00:02:48] Yeah, that's a damn it.
[00:02:49] I don't have one of those sound effects.
[00:02:53] I do have this though.
[00:03:00] So we missed last week.
[00:03:02] Yeah, we did.
[00:03:03] But for good, we weren't expecting to.
[00:03:06] So the initial plan was because last weekend, Kristen was on spring break from work and
[00:03:15] from her teaching job and I was gonna be in Philly all weekend for WrestleMania 40.
[00:03:21] And the whole plan was that we were gonna use Kristen spring break to get ahead on episodes.
[00:03:26] We had like, we were going to be out to sunflowers.
[00:03:29] So we were going to be recording episodes three through six.
[00:03:32] So four more episodes.
[00:03:33] Yeah, a big plan.
[00:03:34] And then we came to realize that teachers are busier over spring break than they
[00:03:40] are when they're, than when they're the schools in session.
[00:03:45] Yeah.
[00:03:46] And that's not really great because we're already working a hundred hours a week.
[00:03:51] Yeah.
[00:03:52] So between, you know, Kristen basically catching up on teaching and life because you were doing
[00:04:01] that too, to be fair.
[00:04:03] I'm into college classes right now as well.
[00:04:06] Yeah.
[00:04:07] And then me trying to get ahead of stuff because I had four days filled with WWE that
[00:04:14] I didn't do anything else.
[00:04:16] We were just like, all right, we, we're just going to break.
[00:04:19] Never, never lined up every day.
[00:04:21] I was like, nope, can't do it.
[00:04:23] Sorry.
[00:04:24] It was the furthest from what we had planned.
[00:04:26] The exact opposite.
[00:04:28] Yeah.
[00:04:29] Exactly.
[00:04:30] Which I guess the lesson here is let's not plan anything.
[00:04:34] Well, I mean, it's maybe over the summer I'll text you and I'll be like, hey,
[00:04:38] let's, uh, let's record today.
[00:04:40] Are you free?
[00:04:41] Let's hop on and record.
[00:04:43] Let's, let's hop on in like two hours so we can watch the episode and then
[00:04:47] record, which I'm fine with that.
[00:04:49] Like if that's the case.
[00:04:51] Yeah.
[00:04:52] So we apologize for missing last week when I don't, I had to catch up on life.
[00:04:56] Sorry guys.
[00:04:57] I don't, I don't know what I mean, if we're being honest then I don't
[00:05:01] either because I had an amazing time.
[00:05:04] I'm always honest.
[00:05:05] I don't know how to lie.
[00:05:07] That's why people hate me.
[00:05:10] I had an absolutely amazing time at WrestleMania 40.
[00:05:14] That's awesome.
[00:05:15] It was, I've, this was my fourth WrestleMania and it was easily
[00:05:20] include, and I'm including WrestleMania as I've watched or attended.
[00:05:25] It was probably the greatest WrestleMania that I've experienced in my life.
[00:05:29] That's awesome.
[00:05:30] They broke really step up their game these days.
[00:05:33] I've noticed they, they broke every attendance record for
[00:05:39] Friday nights back down Monday night role and WrestleMania.
[00:05:43] Total gate between both nights of WrestleMania was over 170,000.
[00:05:48] People?
[00:05:49] No, I'm sorry.
[00:05:50] I'm sorry.
[00:05:51] Over 145,000.
[00:05:52] People.
[00:05:53] Yes.
[00:05:54] People.
[00:05:55] People.
[00:05:56] Now you have to, you have to realize it was two nights.
[00:05:59] So a lot of those people were people that attended both nights.
[00:06:02] So.
[00:06:03] Still.
[00:06:04] Like cut in half.
[00:06:05] It was still over 70,000 people.
[00:06:08] People.
[00:06:09] Yes.
[00:06:10] That is too many people.
[00:06:13] It was like, like a financial field.
[00:06:14] It was at the football stadium.
[00:06:15] I don't care.
[00:06:16] I don't care.
[00:06:17] That's too many people.
[00:06:18] It was my first time.
[00:06:19] And I feel like the energy of that fan base would really
[00:06:23] hype up the too many people issue.
[00:06:28] You mean negatively?
[00:06:30] For somebody that is not a WrestleMania fan, probably.
[00:06:33] Well, so here's the thing.
[00:06:35] It's like with the Metallica concert near Taylor Swift fan.
[00:06:41] I don't know about that.
[00:06:43] Well, so, so here's the thing.
[00:06:45] I had a number of friends who watched it because it was here in Philly
[00:06:49] who have never watched wrestling before or haven't watched it in years
[00:06:53] and have all said at the end of this WrestleMania, I'm going to start
[00:06:56] watching again.
[00:06:57] Because it kind of drew them back in.
[00:06:59] Again, again.
[00:07:00] See, for somebody who's never watched it ever and only knows
[00:07:04] WrestleMania as the 80s Hulk Hogan style, whatever that bullshit was.
[00:07:10] You know what I mean?
[00:07:11] It's not the same thing.
[00:07:13] Right.
[00:07:14] And you know, our favorite guy has been a part of it before.
[00:07:20] Our favorite guy has been a part of it before.
[00:07:23] I'm being very, very sarcastic with our favorite guy,
[00:07:27] our least favorite guy.
[00:07:29] Zava, our least favorite orange human.
[00:07:32] Oh, yes, you're right.
[00:07:35] Yes.
[00:07:37] All you have to do is say, you know, and I want to say if you said
[00:07:41] human Cheeto, I would have known exactly who you were talking about.
[00:07:44] Yeah.
[00:07:45] Well, so here's the thing though.
[00:07:46] And not to spend too much time on this.
[00:07:49] The show is under new the whole company is under new
[00:07:53] management like Vince McMahon is out.
[00:07:55] He is completely out.
[00:07:57] Oh, I know who that guy is.
[00:07:59] He is the one that was part of that orange person's like old school.
[00:08:06] Yes.
[00:08:07] It is a whole new era of professional wrestling.
[00:08:10] It is bigger than it's ever been because this guy who's in charge
[00:08:14] now is in charge.
[00:08:16] And it's great.
[00:08:18] Like even I got away from it for a while because the product was very
[00:08:20] stale and now I'm like, this is better than it's ever been.
[00:08:25] But going back to your earlier point of like the old WrestleMania
[00:08:28] with like Hulk Hogan and Macha Man, I showed my mom because like
[00:08:32] right now professional wrestling WWE is like it's a lot of
[00:08:35] storytelling incorporated into all like the physical part of it.
[00:08:39] And I showed my mom clips from WrestleMania because she's
[00:08:44] a big Eagles fan and Jason Kelsey from the Eagles was actually
[00:08:48] part of WrestleMania.
[00:08:49] How many Kelcies are there?
[00:08:51] Two.
[00:08:52] Oh, OK.
[00:08:53] Travis and Jason.
[00:08:54] Jason's the better one.
[00:08:55] I don't sorry, Swifties.
[00:08:57] So Jason Kelsey and Ling Johnson from the Eagles were part of
[00:09:04] WrestleMania.
[00:09:05] So I showed my mom that I showed my mom a couple other clips.
[00:09:07] She's like, I miss the old days of professional wrestling.
[00:09:11] And what do you mean?
[00:09:12] She's like the days where they just came out there,
[00:09:14] they beat the hell out of each other.
[00:09:15] And that was it.
[00:09:16] She's like none of this like pyrotechnics and storytelling.
[00:09:19] I'm like, that's like way old school wrestling.
[00:09:23] She's like, yeah, but that's when you got into it too was
[00:09:26] when your grandfather showed you that.
[00:09:28] I was like, yeah, but it changed.
[00:09:30] I like it now.
[00:09:32] I like the storytelling.
[00:09:34] You either move with the times or you don't, you know?
[00:09:36] Yeah.
[00:09:37] I mean, and it's for everybody, you know?
[00:09:39] You figure out like what you like and what you don't like
[00:09:42] as you go through life and you attach yourself to stuff
[00:09:45] or you detach yourself to stuff.
[00:09:47] Yeah.
[00:09:48] Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
[00:09:51] But it was fun.
[00:09:52] It was, it was absolutely fun.
[00:09:54] A fun, incredible weekend.
[00:09:57] One other thing I want to make mention of before we jump
[00:10:00] into the episode is we have decided on the next show.
[00:10:04] Yes.
[00:10:05] That we're going to be covering.
[00:10:06] We're not going to announce it yet.
[00:10:08] Most people, we've talked about it.
[00:10:10] Most people already know what it is,
[00:10:12] but we will make the official announcement in a couple weeks.
[00:10:16] Sunflower.
[00:10:18] Probably after, yeah, after sunflower we'll make the...
[00:10:21] After my all-time favorite episode of Ted Lasso.
[00:10:24] When the final season gets like, it's from then on it's...
[00:10:28] Back on track?
[00:10:29] Back on track?
[00:10:30] Let's say back on track.
[00:10:32] Because the next three episodes are frickin' torture.
[00:10:36] I don't, so this episode...
[00:10:39] Was torture.
[00:10:40] That's okay.
[00:10:41] Let's just dive into it.
[00:10:42] Okay.
[00:10:43] This is a spoiler film.
[00:10:45] I was just going to do that.
[00:10:46] You do it then.
[00:10:48] For those of you watching Ted Lasso for the full stop,
[00:10:51] for the first time, we're going to avoid spoilers as best as we can.
[00:10:54] We will do a spoiler talk later on in the episode.
[00:10:57] So if you want to avoid that, to avoid any spoilers,
[00:10:59] just check the show notes to find out when it is so you can pop back in.
[00:11:02] Anyway.
[00:11:03] The end.
[00:11:04] Okay.
[00:11:05] I do have a couple things for spoilers.
[00:11:08] So there will be a spoiler talk and we have a voicemail that's
[00:11:11] a good spoiler.
[00:11:12] So which I haven't listened to yet, but they told me it's for spoilers.
[00:11:17] And I do have some Zava talk for spoilers because I posed a question
[00:11:23] to myself this episode and that main question was,
[00:11:28] what the fuck is the point of Zava?
[00:11:30] I have a point.
[00:11:31] I do too.
[00:11:32] Okay.
[00:11:33] But I'm saving mine for spoilers.
[00:11:35] Oh, mine isn't for spoilers.
[00:11:37] Okay.
[00:11:38] So let's start the conversation then with yours.
[00:11:41] And if your point of Zava is there is none.
[00:11:45] No, it's not.
[00:11:46] This will be quick.
[00:11:47] It's not.
[00:11:48] Okay.
[00:11:49] Okay.
[00:11:50] So first of all, before we get into that, I just want to say I hate this episode.
[00:11:53] I actually, the reason why I love Ted Lasso so much,
[00:11:56] the reason why we all love Ted Lasso so much is because it is heartwarming.
[00:12:00] It makes us feel better.
[00:12:02] There is always a point in the episode where it all comes together
[00:12:06] and we feel better going out of that episode.
[00:12:09] Every episode, this is not that episode.
[00:12:12] In fact, I feel like the point, one of the points of this episode is to piss us off,
[00:12:17] is to get us annoyed and irritated and just ready to like punch things
[00:12:24] because that's just how I felt.
[00:12:26] We sat down and we talked about this.
[00:12:28] Every single annoying character that we hate is in this episode.
[00:12:31] Every single one, Zava, Shandy, Rupert, Michelle and Jacob and Nate.
[00:12:36] All of them are in one episode.
[00:12:38] We don't get any, there's no relief in this episode.
[00:12:41] There's not one bit of relief.
[00:12:43] The only relief that comes is Jamie and Roy talking at the dinner.
[00:12:48] That's it.
[00:12:49] Other than that, the whole episode is just annoying and irritating
[00:12:53] and it makes me want to like rip out my eyeballs and squeeze them
[00:12:57] until they pop.
[00:12:58] Okay.
[00:12:59] So with that said, I do, I wanted to see a point in Zava
[00:13:07] and that's what I kind of at the end of the episode, I was like,
[00:13:10] okay, I need a point on Zava.
[00:13:11] I need something to make sense on Zava.
[00:13:14] And what I think Zava does is Zava runs the team
[00:13:19] so that Ted can spiral about Michelle
[00:13:24] because you see them winning, winning, winning, winning, winning
[00:13:27] and Ted is at home drinking and spiraling
[00:13:31] and he is in a dark place because he has realized
[00:13:35] what is happening at home.
[00:13:37] And with all the pressure on him
[00:13:41] and the coaching staff in the team for being in the Premier League now
[00:13:45] and they're at the bottom, they need a chance.
[00:13:49] They need some kind of a chance to stay in the Premier League
[00:13:53] and Zava gives them that chance.
[00:13:55] Zava gives them the chance to just heighten their ranking just enough
[00:13:59] so that they're not just spending the season in danger of dropping out
[00:14:05] because Ted can't coach.
[00:14:08] We saw that Ted couldn't coach that game after he got the phone call
[00:14:14] or not got the phone call, but he made the phone call to the little man.
[00:14:17] So he sat there just trying not to lose his shit on the sidelines.
[00:14:22] The entire game they won, but not because of Ted,
[00:14:26] not because of the coaching, not because any of it.
[00:14:29] You know, it was just because Zava was there to score goals
[00:14:33] and Zava was there to just pick different people to do the assist on the goals
[00:14:37] and then he fucking steals a goal at the end of the day.
[00:14:44] Yeah, I have that in my notes too.
[00:14:47] Hitomi of he is what Jamie would have become
[00:14:51] if Ted Lasso never came to coach the team.
[00:14:54] Okay.
[00:14:55] For sure 100%.
[00:14:56] I agree with you completely on that point
[00:14:58] and that's actually one of the points I was going to make
[00:15:00] as to what I think the purpose of Zava is.
[00:15:02] And maybe mine doesn't need to be saved for spoilers
[00:15:05] because it doesn't really reveal much of anything.
[00:15:08] But what do you think about what I said about Zava kind of running the team
[00:15:12] while Ted spirals out?
[00:15:14] I think that's actually a very valid point because you're right.
[00:15:19] I think had Zava not been there and that phone call still happened,
[00:15:24] you're right Ted would have, because look at what snapped him out of that.
[00:15:28] He was ready to dive into a panic attack
[00:15:30] because of everything that happened on that phone call
[00:15:33] and it was Zava scoring that snapped it out of it.
[00:15:36] Right.
[00:15:37] If Zava wasn't on the team,
[00:15:39] if this would have been another walk off the field moment for Ted.
[00:15:42] And they wouldn't have won.
[00:15:44] Right.
[00:15:45] No, no, no, no, no.
[00:15:47] They would have remained the laughing stock of the Premier League.
[00:15:50] And I think you also make a very valid point too
[00:15:53] in that all of this work that Zava is doing
[00:15:55] in these first couple games
[00:15:57] that they kind of give us the montage of
[00:15:59] is what puts AFC Richmond up in the top three
[00:16:04] with Manchester United and West Ham
[00:16:06] which are like their main competitors.
[00:16:09] So I think you're right.
[00:16:10] I think without Zava being this strong
[00:16:13] because there's no denying he is an amazing player.
[00:16:16] Right.
[00:16:17] There's no denying that.
[00:16:19] He backs up the hype.
[00:16:21] Yes.
[00:16:22] On the field, on the field.
[00:16:24] Personality wise, he is garbage.
[00:16:27] Garbage.
[00:16:28] But you're right.
[00:16:29] But skill wise, there's no denying he is an amazing player.
[00:16:33] He's an amazing scorer.
[00:16:35] He doesn't play the game.
[00:16:36] Nobody is playing the game on the field right now.
[00:16:39] Well, look at the whole...
[00:16:41] The very first scene that we get with him
[00:16:43] is him calling Jamie over and saying,
[00:16:46] Get open.
[00:16:47] And let's Jamie take the kickoff.
[00:16:49] And the only reason he does that
[00:16:51] is so Jamie can pass the ball to him
[00:16:53] and he scores right away.
[00:16:55] Right.
[00:16:56] Like he tells Jamie to get open
[00:16:58] but then doesn't utilize that at all.
[00:17:00] Just takes the... Just scores it.
[00:17:02] Right.
[00:17:03] You know, scores it.
[00:17:04] So you're right.
[00:17:05] Without Zava,
[00:17:07] they would not...
[00:17:09] This season would have ended completely differently.
[00:17:11] And I'm not going into where the season ends.
[00:17:13] Right.
[00:17:14] Because that's spoiler territory.
[00:17:16] But yeah, but I also think that it...
[00:17:18] Sorry.
[00:17:19] Finish.
[00:17:20] No, but so...
[00:17:22] Make your point and then I'm going to dive into
[00:17:24] what I think are some of the reasons
[00:17:26] Zava is there.
[00:17:28] I think that AFC Richmond
[00:17:31] deserves to be up at the top.
[00:17:33] They just started at the bottom
[00:17:35] because they came from the Premier League
[00:17:37] and nobody was willing to give them a chance,
[00:17:39] which is why they started at the bottom.
[00:17:41] I think that where they...
[00:17:43] As a team, because Jamie's right,
[00:17:45] they do have a really good thing
[00:17:47] going with that team, without Zava.
[00:17:49] That team is the most solidified team
[00:17:51] probably in the entire Premier League.
[00:17:53] But for them to go from the bottom
[00:17:56] and climb their way to the top
[00:17:58] with their current team model,
[00:17:59] the way that it is,
[00:18:00] that wasn't going to happen this season.
[00:18:02] They needed somebody to give them a jumpstart
[00:18:04] to put them where they rightfully belong.
[00:18:07] Does that make sense?
[00:18:08] No, it makes total sense.
[00:18:10] It makes total sense.
[00:18:12] But going into now some of the things
[00:18:14] that I think are the purposes of Zava,
[00:18:18] first off, Jamie.
[00:18:20] Jamie needed...
[00:18:22] I mean, because you look at everything
[00:18:24] that happens with Zava when Zava comes in.
[00:18:27] Everybody is under Zava's spell
[00:18:29] with the exception of two people,
[00:18:31] Rebecca and Jamie.
[00:18:34] And Rebecca kind of has her own thing going on,
[00:18:37] going to see her mother psychic,
[00:18:39] which we'll talk about that as well.
[00:18:41] I forgot about that.
[00:18:42] But Jamie is...
[00:18:44] You know, of surprisingly,
[00:18:46] he is the person who sees right through Zava.
[00:18:49] And there's that whole conversation
[00:18:51] about him like being hypocritical
[00:18:53] and like how Ted and Beard are kind of looking at him.
[00:18:55] Like, you know, it's funny that you're saying
[00:18:57] all this stuff because that's how you used to be.
[00:19:00] Don't you think that's ironic?
[00:19:02] They can recognize their own.
[00:19:04] Like, that's part of it.
[00:19:06] Like, Jamie sees it because he knows
[00:19:09] that's how he used to be.
[00:19:11] And he still kind of is.
[00:19:13] He's just tamed it down.
[00:19:14] I mean, you see him come in with his ridiculous outfits,
[00:19:17] his ridiculous hair, you know?
[00:19:20] So he still is that way a little bit.
[00:19:23] But the difference between Jamie and Zava
[00:19:25] is that Jamie has adapted
[00:19:27] to meld with the rest of the team.
[00:19:29] 100%.
[00:19:30] Zava hasn't.
[00:19:32] So that one...
[00:19:34] So one of the two main purposes of Zava,
[00:19:36] in my opinion, is one,
[00:19:38] he needed to come in
[00:19:40] in order to make Jamie better.
[00:19:42] Because Jamie needed to realize
[00:19:44] that he wasn't the best anymore.
[00:19:46] So he needed...
[00:19:48] Jamie's character
[00:19:50] became better because...
[00:19:52] I'm not going to say needed to change,
[00:19:54] but I'm going to say Jamie's character became better.
[00:19:57] Well, he would have never asked Roy to train him.
[00:20:00] No.
[00:20:01] And we get to see
[00:20:03] the beginning
[00:20:05] of what is one of the best
[00:20:07] duo relationships
[00:20:09] in this show.
[00:20:10] We have seen the start of it
[00:20:12] in this episode.
[00:20:14] And it is...
[00:20:16] I mean, who would have thought
[00:20:18] that a Jamie Roy friendship
[00:20:21] becomes as great as it does?
[00:20:23] And we see the start...
[00:20:25] we see the seed planted
[00:20:27] in this episode.
[00:20:28] And it's because of Zava.
[00:20:29] It would have never happened without Zava.
[00:20:34] I hate saying that, but you're right.
[00:20:37] So here's the other point
[00:20:39] that I think the purpose of Zava is.
[00:20:42] And that is
[00:20:44] the team itself.
[00:20:46] You're right. The team, as Jamie mentioned,
[00:20:48] has something really great going on.
[00:20:51] But
[00:20:52] I don't think the team realizes that.
[00:20:55] Jamie does.
[00:20:57] I don't think the team realizes that yet.
[00:21:00] And Zava is a
[00:21:02] element that comes in
[00:21:05] that helps the team to realize
[00:21:08] their biggest opponent
[00:21:10] in the Premier League.
[00:21:12] It's not West Ham United.
[00:21:14] It's not Manchester.
[00:21:17] It's themselves.
[00:21:19] They are their own biggest opponent.
[00:21:22] And
[00:21:24] when Zava leaves,
[00:21:25] which he eventually does,
[00:21:26] it's not a big spoiler.
[00:21:28] And they
[00:21:30] learn to be a cohesive team without him.
[00:21:33] They are overcoming that opponent.
[00:21:35] They needed to see
[00:21:38] that they were just fine.
[00:21:40] That they were fine without this amazing player.
[00:21:44] So
[00:21:46] Zava coming in,
[00:21:48] it's like, you know,
[00:21:51] three steps forward, two steps back.
[00:21:53] Yeah.
[00:21:54] They needed Zava to realize
[00:21:57] how big of a team,
[00:21:59] how great of a team they could be
[00:22:01] or they already were
[00:22:03] without them.
[00:22:04] Well, they were listening to their critics
[00:22:06] and they shouldn't have been.
[00:22:08] Yeah.
[00:22:09] Yeah. Everybody,
[00:22:10] when they came into the Premier League,
[00:22:11] everybody had them finishing at the end.
[00:22:13] Right. At the bottom.
[00:22:14] Right.
[00:22:15] And they needed to realize
[00:22:17] that how good of a team they were.
[00:22:19] They needed something to help them overcome that.
[00:22:21] Yeah.
[00:22:22] And in a weird way,
[00:22:23] Zava is that person.
[00:22:25] God, Zava's the worst.
[00:22:27] He's back.
[00:22:31] His back tattoo.
[00:22:32] It's a
[00:22:33] prime example of that.
[00:22:37] And it's so funny too,
[00:22:38] because like the first time we watched this show,
[00:22:41] I know some people didn't like Zava from the start
[00:22:43] upon first doing.
[00:22:45] And for people that are watching for the first time,
[00:22:48] what are your thoughts on Zava?
[00:22:49] Like other than our hatred of him or dislike.
[00:22:52] Hatred.
[00:22:53] I hate him.
[00:22:55] You know,
[00:22:56] I think the first time I watched the series through,
[00:22:58] I kind of saw him as just like a ridiculous element
[00:23:02] that was added.
[00:23:03] I don't think I hated him,
[00:23:04] but now that we're like kind of rewatching
[00:23:06] and analyzing it as we go,
[00:23:09] I'm realizing like, yeah,
[00:23:11] I just do not like this character.
[00:23:14] And I hate the fact that
[00:23:16] everybody is under his spell,
[00:23:18] especially Danny.
[00:23:20] But Danny.
[00:23:21] Yeah.
[00:23:22] There's one scene where Zava comes into the locker room
[00:23:26] and does those motions
[00:23:28] and Danny's behind them doing it too.
[00:23:30] Like he wants to emulate Zava.
[00:23:33] Yeah, I know.
[00:23:34] It's so gross.
[00:23:35] It's so gross.
[00:23:36] It's just horrible.
[00:23:37] I hate it.
[00:23:39] Just the fact that Zava takes up four lockers.
[00:23:42] And a recliner.
[00:23:43] And a recliner.
[00:23:44] Yeah.
[00:23:45] Which I don't think we ever see him use.
[00:23:47] Maybe we do.
[00:23:50] I don't know.
[00:23:51] I don't even care.
[00:23:52] I don't even care.
[00:23:53] God, I hate him.
[00:23:55] So I think definitely knowing what the writers have done
[00:24:00] in the past,
[00:24:01] there's a point to everything in this show.
[00:24:04] Yeah.
[00:24:06] Zava had a point.
[00:24:07] And the writers probably knew people were going to end up
[00:24:10] hating Zava and it was intentional.
[00:24:15] Just the same as like Rupert.
[00:24:17] It's weird because Rupert is a villain of the show.
[00:24:20] Nate is now a villain of the show,
[00:24:22] but they're not on the team.
[00:24:24] Let's add a villain to the team that not everybody sees
[00:24:28] as the villain.
[00:24:30] We see it as the villain as the audience,
[00:24:32] but the team doesn't.
[00:24:33] Yeah.
[00:24:34] And sometimes-
[00:24:35] And it's a total change from when Jamie re-entered
[00:24:39] the team at the beginning of season two.
[00:24:41] Because Jamie wanted to be a part of the team
[00:24:43] and the team was resisting it because of their past with him.
[00:24:46] Well, I mean,
[00:24:47] and the difference between Jamie and Zava is when Zava came in
[00:24:50] or when Jamie came back in,
[00:24:52] the team immediately saw the toxicity among them
[00:24:55] or what they thought was toxicity among them
[00:24:58] that turned out not to be.
[00:25:00] This time somebody who's coming in,
[00:25:02] who is absolutely toxic to this team,
[00:25:04] but they don't see it.
[00:25:06] It's a complete role reversal.
[00:25:08] Jamie, they saw Jamie as toxic when he wasn't.
[00:25:12] Well, he kind of was and then he-
[00:25:14] They kind of filtered it out.
[00:25:16] This time this person comes in who they think is a savior
[00:25:19] to the team, but he's incredibly toxic.
[00:25:22] And that's the problem is that they didn't need a savior.
[00:25:27] Well, I mean, and I-
[00:25:29] As a sports fan, I do kind of understand it.
[00:25:31] It's kind of like, you know,
[00:25:33] if you were an NBA fan and then all of a sudden
[00:25:36] you found out Michael Jordan was leaving the bowls
[00:25:38] to come to the 76ers.
[00:25:41] As Sixers fans, we're going to be excited about that.
[00:25:44] No, uh-uh. I- No, no.
[00:25:47] No. This is why I'm saying,
[00:25:49] no, this is why I'm shutting you down immediately.
[00:25:51] Okay.
[00:25:52] I'm a diehard Laker fan.
[00:25:53] I've been a Laker fan since I was a kid.
[00:25:55] When LeBron James came to the Lakers,
[00:25:57] I immediately stopped watching.
[00:25:59] Immediately.
[00:26:00] I have not seen one Laker game
[00:26:03] since he joined that team,
[00:26:05] because I hate the fact that they even brought him on that team.
[00:26:09] But see, that's the thing.
[00:26:11] You're a realistic fan.
[00:26:13] There are other fans, a majority of other Lakers fans
[00:26:16] got excited when LeBron came to LA.
[00:26:18] Ridiculous.
[00:26:19] Well, I mean it, but that's the thing.
[00:26:21] That's like you, you are different.
[00:26:23] And that's one of the reasons why like you,
[00:26:25] you have this hatred for Zaba.
[00:26:26] Most other Laker fans got excited
[00:26:28] when LeBron came to LA.
[00:26:30] So because like you have this incredible player coming to your team,
[00:26:35] you are the automatic assumption is that your team
[00:26:38] is now going to be shades better than it was.
[00:26:41] You're not realizing that your team was already great.
[00:26:45] You didn't need it.
[00:26:47] You know, so like I said, like if Jordan came to the Sixers,
[00:26:51] Sixers fans would have flipped shit.
[00:26:53] Like they would have been so excited about that.
[00:26:55] Not realizing the Sixers were already great.
[00:26:59] The Sixers are never really bad.
[00:27:01] No, even when they had Alan Iverson, they still work.
[00:27:04] Sorry.
[00:27:05] Okay.
[00:27:06] No, no, you're right.
[00:27:07] That's even when they had Alan Iverson.
[00:27:09] You know what's so funny?
[00:27:10] Sorry to divert from this too,
[00:27:12] but a buddy of mine pointed this out.
[00:27:13] So apparently Alan Iverson just got a statue.
[00:27:18] But it's outside of the practice facility.
[00:27:21] Practice.
[00:27:23] Practice.
[00:27:24] Please tell me that that quote is on the bottom of it.
[00:27:26] I don't think it is, but I just find it incredibly ironic.
[00:27:29] I just want to say not a game dot, dot, dot practice.
[00:27:32] We're just talking about practice.
[00:27:34] I just find it incredibly ironic that it's outside of the
[00:27:37] practice.
[00:27:38] I love it.
[00:27:39] I love it.
[00:27:40] I think that that's a perfect place for that to be.
[00:27:42] You know what?
[00:27:43] It shows that Philly has a sense of humor,
[00:27:45] which when it comes to your sports,
[00:27:47] you never have a sense of humor.
[00:27:49] And I think I've,
[00:27:50] I think Iverson actually has a sense of humor about it too.
[00:27:53] He's been seen like, he's been seen like celebrate,
[00:27:56] like he was there for the commencement of the statue and everything.
[00:27:59] So like it's, it's great.
[00:28:01] You mentioned too, like how like Philly fans are like that way.
[00:28:07] Going back to WrestleMania for a quick moment,
[00:28:11] people bring signs in and one of the signs at WrestleMania
[00:28:15] that I saw on television was Santa deserved it.
[00:28:18] Because we are sports fans.
[00:28:22] Sports fans known for throwing snowballs at Santa Claus.
[00:28:26] Yeah, I know.
[00:28:27] So no, you guys are the worst.
[00:28:29] You guys are the literal worst.
[00:28:32] Eagles fans.
[00:28:34] Yes.
[00:28:36] And Sixers fans maybe Philly's fans not as much Philly's fans are
[00:28:40] very devoted to that team.
[00:28:41] Baseball in general is just a whole different animal.
[00:28:45] Love like a golden love for baseball in this country.
[00:28:49] Like, yes.
[00:28:51] Unless you know, you're a Yankee or Red Sox,
[00:28:53] then people have opinions.
[00:28:56] I'm not going to say a word.
[00:28:57] Yeah. See exactly.
[00:28:58] People have opinions.
[00:28:59] Moving on.
[00:29:01] But yeah, like they,
[00:29:03] I understand the allure of Zava from the standpoint of
[00:29:10] of the team and from Roy and even from Beard.
[00:29:14] I don't get the allure from Ted because it's,
[00:29:19] Ted's allure to Zava seems to be just contagious allure.
[00:29:23] Because he is a contagious energy guy.
[00:29:27] True, but he's not as in tune to the game of football as Beard
[00:29:32] or as Roy.
[00:29:34] That's been well established over the course of this.
[00:29:37] He's we're in season three and he's still learning rules of
[00:29:40] the game and learning different players,
[00:29:42] learning team names, you know, and what teams go by.
[00:29:46] That was one of the best.
[00:29:47] That was one of the best little exchanges ever, ever.
[00:29:50] But so Ted's allure of Zava is just very contagious allure.
[00:29:55] He's only acting this way because he sees everybody else
[00:29:58] acting this way about Zava.
[00:30:00] Well, and before he was,
[00:30:02] before he was a professional football coach,
[00:30:06] he was a college American football coach.
[00:30:09] He has never coached a superstar.
[00:30:12] He's never coached a LeBron.
[00:30:14] He's never coached a Michael Jordan.
[00:30:16] He's never coached a who's a superstar of Gretzky or football.
[00:30:22] Gretzky would be great.
[00:30:24] I feel like I would take Gretzky today.
[00:30:26] I would take Gretzky any day.
[00:30:28] I'll take Gretzky today.
[00:30:30] He probably still score out everybody on that ice.
[00:30:36] Anyways, but you're right.
[00:30:38] He's not he's not a Brady.
[00:30:41] Right.
[00:30:42] Yeah, he I like totally blanked out on superstars of football right
[00:30:46] there. That was crazy.
[00:30:47] You're fine. Brady's overrated anyway.
[00:30:49] Continue.
[00:30:50] Anyways, I'm going to get hate mail for that one.
[00:30:53] This is his first time directed towards me.
[00:30:55] Brady sucks.
[00:30:56] Thank you.
[00:30:57] Yeah, you're welcome.
[00:30:58] He sucks.
[00:31:00] He's a trash human.
[00:31:02] And anyway, sorry, I got to get back to the show.
[00:31:04] Fine. Continue.
[00:31:05] I know you said Brady in my brain with.
[00:31:09] Um, how to go?
[00:31:12] Thank you.
[00:31:14] You're welcome.
[00:31:16] Anyways, um, so even I mean, you see that he doesn't even know
[00:31:19] how to handle him in the locker room.
[00:31:21] I mean, Zava comes in and stands right in front of Ted.
[00:31:24] And then and then Ted moves and Zava moves right in
[00:31:27] front of Ted again.
[00:31:28] And Ted keeps going.
[00:31:30] Hey, hey, like he's like popping out from behind him,
[00:31:34] like a cartoon character.
[00:31:36] Well, and I think that kind of, I think that goes more
[00:31:39] towards Zava's personality than it does Ted.
[00:31:41] Although, I mean, it does kind of play into both.
[00:31:43] Like you're right because Zava comes in and takes center
[00:31:46] stage right away.
[00:31:47] And Ted is a little too passive to kind of say anything
[00:31:51] about that.
[00:31:52] Like he just kind of goes with the flow.
[00:31:54] He's like, are you standing in front of me, but I'll move
[00:31:56] to the side.
[00:31:57] And then now I'll move to the side again.
[00:31:59] Midwest politeness.
[00:32:00] Yeah, exactly.
[00:32:01] But then like right before they're ready to go out
[00:32:04] to the field and they're trying to break his meditation
[00:32:07] and get him to come over.
[00:32:08] What does he do?
[00:32:09] He stands in the middle where they put their hands.
[00:32:12] Oh, gosh, I hated that part.
[00:32:15] You know, and takes over the captain's chant.
[00:32:18] Yes, he does.
[00:32:19] Before Mathidu even has a chance to do it.
[00:32:21] He steps into where all their hands are and says
[00:32:24] Richmond on three.
[00:32:26] Well, and he's acting as a deity of the team,
[00:32:29] which I hate.
[00:32:30] Well, but that's also partly due to the teams.
[00:32:34] See, I think part of the problem with Zava and is the fact
[00:32:38] that Zava buys into this hype, buys into his own hype
[00:32:43] because he's fed it by everyone around him.
[00:32:46] Look at what happened.
[00:32:47] Yeah, I mean, that's what happened with LeBron James.
[00:32:49] They called him the king when he was in high school.
[00:32:52] And so he drank up his own Kool-Aid and he was out on
[00:32:56] the court and he was already known as the king of the NBA,
[00:33:03] which you're only the king if you can actually win championships
[00:33:07] without developing a super team and going to Miami
[00:33:10] and pulling all the talent of the NBA to win
[00:33:13] and then going back to Cleveland
[00:33:15] and complaining that you can't win anymore
[00:33:17] because you don't have a good enough team.
[00:33:19] When Kobe Bryant took his own team
[00:33:21] and he said, I don't need any superstars.
[00:33:23] I can build this shit on my own and he does.
[00:33:26] And he has two championships with a team,
[00:33:29] not LeBron and company, a team.
[00:33:32] I'm just going to move my microphone to the side
[00:33:35] and let you keep going because this I love this.
[00:33:38] I am triggered right now.
[00:33:40] I'm very, very heated when you put LeBron above Kobe
[00:33:45] because I know your love for Kobe even to this day.
[00:33:50] Like, I know your love.
[00:33:51] You know.
[00:33:52] I mean, we talked on that fateful day because I know.
[00:33:56] January 26, 2020.
[00:33:58] I know how much that affected you.
[00:34:00] I actually might cry just thinking about it.
[00:34:02] So let's just move on.
[00:34:03] We'll move on.
[00:34:05] But yeah, you get triggered very easily when it comes to this
[00:34:08] and I love it.
[00:34:09] When it comes to Kobe Bryant,
[00:34:10] when it comes to Kobe Bryant,
[00:34:11] I will fall on...
[00:34:13] That's my hill that I die on every time.
[00:34:16] Oh, you weren't in Atlanta.
[00:34:19] No, I was not but I heard the stories.
[00:34:21] You heard about it.
[00:34:22] I heard the stories.
[00:34:25] But yeah, so like, I mean, and that's just part of it.
[00:34:27] Like Zava is like as you as you said it,
[00:34:29] he's drinking his own Kool-Aid.
[00:34:31] Yeah.
[00:34:32] He look at what happens with,
[00:34:35] oh God, for the life of me,
[00:34:36] I can't remember the player's name.
[00:34:39] The Dutch truth.
[00:34:41] Jan.
[00:34:42] When Jan, like when Danny come,
[00:34:44] Danny says like he's an angel and he's like,
[00:34:46] why are you downplaying him?
[00:34:48] Like he's a God.
[00:34:49] That pissed me off.
[00:34:51] Like it's because Zava survives on all this hype
[00:34:57] that's around him.
[00:34:58] He walks in and he drinks all of this in
[00:35:02] and it feeds that ego even bigger.
[00:35:06] I'll save it for spoilers though.
[00:35:09] There is a hint about his future in this episode.
[00:35:13] I don't know if you caught it,
[00:35:15] but I will bring it up.
[00:35:16] Probably not.
[00:35:17] I was too busy hate watching this episode.
[00:35:18] I will bring it up in spoilers.
[00:35:21] There is a hint of Zava's fate in this episode.
[00:35:27] I definitely think there is a purpose to Zava
[00:35:30] for this episode.
[00:35:31] And I don't think the writers ever intended it
[00:35:34] to be for us to like him.
[00:35:37] I think the writers wanted us to hate him.
[00:35:40] Well, they achieved it.
[00:35:42] Yeah.
[00:35:43] I agree.
[00:35:45] But I do think that Zava,
[00:35:49] after hearing your analysis on him,
[00:35:53] I do think that he serves two purposes.
[00:35:55] One, Ted needed a moment to process
[00:35:59] what was happening back at home
[00:36:01] and Zava allowed him the breathing room to do that
[00:36:05] because he was winning games without Ted
[00:36:08] having to be the head coach.
[00:36:12] And number two, he pushes Jamie to up his game,
[00:36:17] so to speak.
[00:36:18] More importantly, he makes Jamie realize
[00:36:23] that he's the one that has to push his game.
[00:36:26] Yeah, because he is a better player,
[00:36:28] but that hasn't been brought out of Jamie yet
[00:36:31] because Jamie has been a player
[00:36:34] that has always been the best
[00:36:36] on whatever team he's ever been on.
[00:36:38] Yeah.
[00:36:39] And now, I mean,
[00:36:40] because he's still a really young player,
[00:36:41] he's not past his prime like Roy was
[00:36:43] when he realized he couldn't keep up anymore.
[00:36:45] Jamie still has a lot of years left as a footballer.
[00:36:50] So what he needs to do is he needs to evolve.
[00:36:53] And this is his evolution.
[00:36:55] This is the beginning of, or the end,
[00:36:57] the beginning of the end of his evolution.
[00:37:00] Well, and I love the fact too that
[00:37:02] when Jamie realizes that he needs to evolve
[00:37:04] and he needs to become better,
[00:37:05] he doesn't go to Zava for it.
[00:37:07] He goes to Roy.
[00:37:08] He trusts Roy.
[00:37:10] There's a history there and also Zava wouldn't care.
[00:37:13] But I think that I'm just realizing this right now.
[00:37:18] I think that there's a lesson in Jamie for everybody,
[00:37:22] whether you're a sports player or not.
[00:37:24] I think that the lesson in Jamie is that
[00:37:27] you need to get yourself right
[00:37:29] before you do anything with your career.
[00:37:33] You need to be okay with you.
[00:37:35] And I think that having Jamie have an evolution
[00:37:39] mentally in season two prepares him to be mentally strong enough
[00:37:44] to evolve as a player with Roy's direction in season three.
[00:37:49] Well, and I think that goes for anything.
[00:37:51] But that's what I'm saying.
[00:37:52] Yeah.
[00:37:53] You need to be right in yourself
[00:37:55] before you do anything else in life.
[00:37:57] You need to like you.
[00:37:58] You need to be okay with who you are as a person.
[00:38:01] Exactly.
[00:38:02] And I'll give you a prime example of that
[00:38:04] that kind of happened recently in my own.
[00:38:06] Ron never did that.
[00:38:07] Sorry.
[00:38:09] Keep going.
[00:38:10] I was not expecting you to throw LeBron into that too.
[00:38:14] But like a prime example of that into my own life is,
[00:38:18] my sister is two years younger than me.
[00:38:20] She has two kids both graduating from high school.
[00:38:24] Well, the second one graduates from high school this year,
[00:38:27] actually, my nephew is moving to Ohio with his girlfriend.
[00:38:31] So I'm going to go to Ohio.
[00:38:33] My nephew is moving to Ohio with his girlfriend.
[00:38:36] So like they're moving things.
[00:38:38] And here I am two years older than my sister,
[00:38:40] no kids, no relationship or anything like that.
[00:38:43] And my mom asked me the other day,
[00:38:45] you need to find somebody for yourself.
[00:38:47] And I told my mom flat out.
[00:38:48] I was like, look, I would love that,
[00:38:51] but I am not in a place where I feel comfortable doing that.
[00:38:55] I need to be more financially stable.
[00:38:57] And I need to be more emotionally stable.
[00:38:59] Because otherwise it's not fair to anybody
[00:39:02] that I get into a relationship with.
[00:39:04] And my mom even said, she's like, you know what?
[00:39:06] I actually, she's like, I respect that.
[00:39:08] She's like, I get that.
[00:39:10] She's like, that's great.
[00:39:12] There's a lot of people from our generation that are like that
[00:39:15] because we all had really strange childhoods.
[00:39:19] Anybody that I talk to that is our age, our generation,
[00:39:23] none of us are right in the head.
[00:39:26] None of us.
[00:39:27] No.
[00:39:28] But you know, like my mom respected that,
[00:39:30] but it goes right to what you were saying, you know,
[00:39:32] with Jamie is that we need to be comfortable as people
[00:39:37] with ourselves before we will ever be successful
[00:39:40] in anything else that we do in life.
[00:39:43] Jamie's the same way.
[00:39:44] He needed to know where he stood as a person
[00:39:47] before he was ever going to become a better player.
[00:39:50] And that's where he is now in this position.
[00:39:53] And he sees that, he knows that.
[00:39:55] And now he's reaching out to Roy.
[00:39:58] Well, actually Roy is the one that offered it.
[00:40:00] Roy is the one that said, I can train you.
[00:40:03] And Jamie was like, yeah, that's what I need.
[00:40:06] You know, and he accepted it.
[00:40:08] Jamie in season one would have never accepted that from Roy.
[00:40:11] No.
[00:40:12] Never.
[00:40:13] Even though Roy was a player he looked up to.
[00:40:17] Right.
[00:40:18] It was his hero.
[00:40:19] Yeah, it was his childhood hero.
[00:40:21] Right.
[00:40:22] He was not it.
[00:40:23] He.
[00:40:24] Didn't I say he?
[00:40:25] No, we both said it.
[00:40:26] Oh, I thought I thought it.
[00:40:28] No, we're winning right now.
[00:40:30] Good job.
[00:40:34] So yeah, Jamie, the stuff that happens with Jamie
[00:40:38] and Roy going forward is just,
[00:40:40] it's some of my favorite part of this show.
[00:40:45] It's one of my favorite elements of the show.
[00:40:47] Yeah.
[00:40:48] Me too.
[00:40:49] Me too.
[00:40:50] And this episode, it's the only saving grace
[00:40:52] of this episode, honestly.
[00:40:54] Yeah, I can see that.
[00:40:56] Well, okay.
[00:40:57] So I thought about this earlier and I just,
[00:40:59] I meant to bring it up and I just remembered it again too.
[00:41:01] So I want to mention it.
[00:41:02] There is a third person who I believe sees right through Zava.
[00:41:07] Who?
[00:41:08] And that's Trent.
[00:41:09] Oh, 100%.
[00:41:11] Because in that moment where they're,
[00:41:14] they're with Zava in the office and everything or it might
[00:41:19] have been in the locker room.
[00:41:20] I can't remember when everybody is in this all of Zava.
[00:41:24] What is Trent's response?
[00:41:26] Well, he's tall.
[00:41:28] He's tall.
[00:41:30] He sees the physical aspect of him that's different,
[00:41:34] but he doesn't mention anything else about that.
[00:41:38] And that's because Trent as we're going to praise Trent
[00:41:41] even more because of how much we fucking love Trent Grimm.
[00:41:45] Trent is incredibly intelligent and it's that journalism
[00:41:48] mind that he has that allows him to see through what might
[00:41:53] be directly in front of him.
[00:41:55] He saw it with Ted.
[00:41:56] This also isn't the story he wanted to tell and you can
[00:41:59] tell that when Roy, when they're coming in after a win and Roy
[00:42:02] goes, I bet you didn't think that you'd be writing about
[00:42:04] a Cinderella season and Trent doesn't look happy because
[00:42:08] this is not the story that he saw happening.
[00:42:11] He knew that the team was special but it's not,
[00:42:14] the team's no longer special.
[00:42:16] The team is now just a normal team.
[00:42:18] That's why Trent came in.
[00:42:20] He wanted to write about the specialness of AFC Richmond
[00:42:23] and the lasso effect.
[00:42:25] Right.
[00:42:26] And he's not seeing that because of Zava.
[00:42:29] Exactly.
[00:42:30] Zava has killed his story.
[00:42:32] It has been buried because of Zava.
[00:42:34] Yep.
[00:42:35] And that's a problem.
[00:42:36] Yeah.
[00:42:37] Especially considering like this is what he's doing for
[00:42:39] his career, he's taking a huge risk to do this.
[00:42:42] Yes, he is.
[00:42:43] Yes, he is.
[00:42:44] This is not, but you know what?
[00:42:46] As a journalist, he probably also knows that the story has
[00:42:50] to unfold.
[00:42:51] True.
[00:42:52] You know?
[00:42:53] And maybe he sees kind of the forest through the trees a
[00:42:56] little bit and he sees that this isn't going to last.
[00:42:59] Well, it also makes you a little worried too because
[00:43:02] there is a little bit of a hint that,
[00:43:05] because we haven't even brought this up yet and I'm kind
[00:43:08] of transitioning using this to transition a little bit.
[00:43:10] Yeah, do it because I'm done talking about Zava.
[00:43:12] I think we've kind of beaten that dead horse.
[00:43:14] It's been almost half an hour on Zava.
[00:43:16] The end of this episode, it almost is a reveal that Trent
[00:43:20] might have a new story.
[00:43:22] And that is, well, he does, but not in the sense that
[00:43:26] we think it is because we see Trent as a journalist.
[00:43:30] So when he witnesses Colin and Michael,
[00:43:33] we automatically assume, oh shit, this is the one
[00:43:37] person we didn't want to see this.
[00:43:39] Oh no, I didn't think that.
[00:43:41] Well, but that's because what we know of Trent now.
[00:43:44] No, no, first watch.
[00:43:46] Oh really? Yeah, no.
[00:43:48] Okay. But I trust, I don't know why I trusted Trent
[00:43:52] from the get go.
[00:43:54] He does offer a lot of things that allow us to do that.
[00:43:57] Like from season one, the first time we see him,
[00:44:01] you knew he was special.
[00:44:03] He was a different character.
[00:44:05] I think the moment for me was when him and Ted went
[00:44:09] to dinner in season one.
[00:44:11] I think that for me was kind of like, oh,
[00:44:13] this guy's not a douchebag reporter.
[00:44:15] Like there's actually a little, he's got extra layers.
[00:44:19] But not to bury the lead.
[00:44:21] This is something we have talked about in spoilers,
[00:44:23] but now we can talk about freely,
[00:44:25] although there's still other things to come out
[00:44:27] about this that are great.
[00:44:31] We find out about Colin's sexuality in this episode.
[00:44:34] It's a big, a big central theme of the episode.
[00:44:38] And it becomes a big thing later as well with Trent
[00:44:45] and with McAdoo.
[00:44:47] Yes.
[00:44:49] We'll get to that later though.
[00:44:51] Yeah, but yeah, we get the reveal that Colin's gay.
[00:44:56] Which in any normal environment would be fine,
[00:45:00] but he is a professional sports athlete.
[00:45:03] And there is a stigma with homosexuality and professional
[00:45:07] sports.
[00:45:08] And it is so cool that they are going to,
[00:45:11] that the writers, that the creators are shining a light
[00:45:14] on this stigma.
[00:45:15] Yes.
[00:45:16] And it's interesting to note too that even Michael plays
[00:45:19] along with the facade.
[00:45:21] When he comes to the restaurant,
[00:45:23] he just plays himself as Colin's wingman.
[00:45:25] He understands the importance of Colin's career
[00:45:32] and it's not, I mean, it sucks,
[00:45:37] but there's a lot of people out there who close off this
[00:45:40] part of themselves.
[00:45:41] Yeah.
[00:45:42] But what I love about that moment,
[00:45:44] and it really made me, I really thought about this.
[00:45:47] And like when you watch that scene where they're at
[00:45:51] Sam's restaurant and Michael comes in and he's like,
[00:45:53] hey boy, this is my buddy, you know, Michael,
[00:45:55] like greatest wingman ever.
[00:45:56] And Michael says the whole line about like,
[00:45:58] you know, playing it off.
[00:46:00] And I'm like, oh, I'm like, is that really like a healthy
[00:46:02] relationship, you know, for him to play along with it?
[00:46:05] And then you think about it from the perspective that
[00:46:07] you mentioned that Michael understands.
[00:46:10] He has to be this way because of his career,
[00:46:12] which is very understanding.
[00:46:14] But at the same time, and I thought about this,
[00:46:17] I also love the fact that even though there's a risk of
[00:46:22] embarrassment on Colin, from Colin's perspective of his
[00:46:26] teammates finding out that he's a homosexual and
[00:46:28] this is his partner, he still wants his friends to meet
[00:46:32] Michael.
[00:46:33] He still invites Michael to come out and he's,
[00:46:37] Michael is so important to him that even though there's
[00:46:40] a risk, he still wants his friends,
[00:46:43] Macadoo in particular, to meet Michael.
[00:46:47] And it's a very special event too because it's Sam is
[00:46:52] opening up something very personal to him,
[00:46:54] to his team, right?
[00:46:56] This is his home country's food.
[00:46:58] There is a very good chance they're not going to like it,
[00:47:01] but he is going to open himself up that way.
[00:47:04] So it's almost like Colin is taking that opportunity,
[00:47:07] seeing that Sam is doing that for him to kind of do
[00:47:11] that to the level in which he is comfortable.
[00:47:15] Yeah.
[00:47:16] I mean, I do think Sam is very confident in the
[00:47:19] product that he's offering.
[00:47:21] He is nervous, but he is very confident.
[00:47:23] But he, you know, like the fact that when,
[00:47:26] when, when, when Macadoo says like,
[00:47:29] this is the best Moimoi I've ever tasted in my life.
[00:47:31] He's like, look at me.
[00:47:32] I'm not kidding.
[00:47:34] Like it's just, it's such a great, great moment to see them
[00:47:37] enjoying.
[00:47:38] Well, Macadoo is so intense anyways.
[00:47:40] Rollos.
[00:47:41] Just rollos.
[00:47:42] Yeah.
[00:47:45] I love Macadoo and the stuff that we are going to get
[00:47:48] with him later is still, especially in particularly
[00:47:51] with Colin and this whole situation is just.
[00:47:54] Macadoo is a very underutilized character.
[00:47:57] Had the episode when Roy taught Macadoo to love the game
[00:48:04] again is still one of my favorite Macadoo episodes.
[00:48:10] That's, it's still like the moment when like him
[00:48:13] and Ted are like, we're going to meet Roy
[00:48:16] and we get the flashlight under the,
[00:48:19] under the face moment.
[00:48:20] Like, like they scared him still.
[00:48:23] One of my favorite moments from this series.
[00:48:26] I laugh at that every time.
[00:48:28] Yeah.
[00:48:29] Macadoo is a cool character.
[00:48:30] There's a lot of really great characters there,
[00:48:32] which I would love it if they would make a show called,
[00:48:35] you know, the Richmond way or AFC Richmond or something
[00:48:38] like that so that we could explore those other
[00:48:41] characters because they, because the cool thing
[00:48:43] about football from what I've learned from watching
[00:48:46] the show is that a team is comprised of so many
[00:48:50] different countries and so many different cultures
[00:48:53] and so many different people that it's just,
[00:48:56] it would be such a cool idea to focus in on each
[00:48:59] of these characters and bring the team of faces
[00:49:04] into a team of actual like people.
[00:49:07] And you know what I think is interesting about this too,
[00:49:09] and I just realized this because of you saying that
[00:49:12] in American sports we don't get a lot of that
[00:49:15] like baseball it's from people just from this country.
[00:49:17] Football is the same way.
[00:49:18] The closest thing we have to that in this country is hockey.
[00:49:22] And because hockey, it's US players, it's Canadian players,
[00:49:25] it's Russian players, like they are from different points
[00:49:28] of the world and I think that is why I am as big
[00:49:31] of a hockey fan as I am.
[00:49:33] Hockey is my number one sport.
[00:49:35] Like I love baseball.
[00:49:37] Football, hockey is like football I root for a team.
[00:49:41] Baseball I root for a team.
[00:49:43] I love hockey.
[00:49:44] I watch the sport.
[00:49:46] Oh, cool.
[00:49:47] Okay.
[00:49:48] Like you can hand me tickets to any two teams playing
[00:49:50] in hockey and I will go to that game.
[00:49:53] That's kind of how I feel about football.
[00:49:55] I really like football, American football.
[00:49:58] Yeah.
[00:49:59] I love American football.
[00:50:00] Like I, if I had the time I would just post up
[00:50:03] on Sundays and just watch football all day.
[00:50:06] I would, I want to be a part of fantasy teams
[00:50:08] but nobody ever invites me to be on fantasy teams
[00:50:10] like ever.
[00:50:12] I do.
[00:50:13] I love football a lot.
[00:50:14] I think football is really fun.
[00:50:16] So I get that but baseball I also feel is a very
[00:50:20] international sport only because we have a lot of
[00:50:24] Cuban, Dominican, Puerto Rican, Japanese.
[00:50:28] That's true.
[00:50:29] Japanese, yeah.
[00:50:30] Japanese players, you know so we've got a little
[00:50:32] bit of that but it's not as widespread.
[00:50:35] It's not, oh yeah, it's not as widespread as
[00:50:40] European football.
[00:50:41] It's not as widespread as European football is.
[00:50:44] Yeah.
[00:50:45] You know and you really, really see that in
[00:50:47] Ted Lasso and I don't know.
[00:50:49] I like it.
[00:50:50] I like seeing the different cultures.
[00:50:52] I agree with you and it is one of the reasons too
[00:50:55] why I will also say this.
[00:50:56] I am incredibly excited for the World Cup coming
[00:50:59] to the United States because of this show.
[00:51:01] Because of this show.
[00:51:02] America's like oh soccer?
[00:51:04] Yeah we like that.
[00:51:05] That's cool.
[00:51:06] Philadelphia and here this is one of the reasons
[00:51:09] I told you this before.
[00:51:11] Philadelphia is getting a game.
[00:51:13] We're getting a couple games of the World Cup.
[00:51:15] They're going to be at Lincoln Financial where
[00:51:17] WrestleMania was but one of the games that I am
[00:51:19] desperately going to try and get tickets to
[00:51:21] actually happens on January 4th, 2026.
[00:51:27] Because I'm excited because it will be the
[00:51:30] 250th anniversary of our country in Philadelphia.
[00:51:37] Oh yeah.
[00:51:38] We talked about this.
[00:51:39] Yeah.
[00:51:40] So I will absolutely be trying to get tickets
[00:51:43] to that game.
[00:51:44] But like no, Ted Lasso has given me a new
[00:51:47] appreciation for, I don't want actually I won't
[00:51:50] even say new appreciation.
[00:51:51] It's an appreciation for European soccer
[00:51:54] which I know it's a number of people have.
[00:51:56] It's one of the reasons why I root for and
[00:51:59] I watch and I follow AFC, Rexmit, Erexham now.
[00:52:03] You know, Brian Reynolds and Rob Mechelhoney
[00:52:06] have absolutely something to do with the love
[00:52:08] for that team too.
[00:52:09] But I'm invested in that team now.
[00:52:12] They just got promoted again, by the way.
[00:52:16] We just got news of that this weekend
[00:52:18] which is unheard of in European football
[00:52:22] that they got promoted to a league and then
[00:52:24] they got promoted to the next one the year after.
[00:52:26] That's awesome.
[00:52:27] They're doing amazing right now.
[00:52:30] Anyway, you know, but we going back to
[00:52:35] the previous point is, you know, Trent is the one
[00:52:38] that sees Conn with and Michael.
[00:52:40] And what that does with the story going forward
[00:52:45] is amazing.
[00:52:47] Yeah.
[00:52:48] And I love it.
[00:52:50] It's an aspect that I love.
[00:52:55] Anything else on, because there's two other
[00:52:59] main points I want to get to.
[00:53:02] Oh, God.
[00:53:03] I didn't even talk about the fact that Zava pulled
[00:53:05] an Axl Rose in Madonna and showed up two hours
[00:53:07] late to his damn thing.
[00:53:09] I forgot.
[00:53:10] I have that in my notes.
[00:53:11] Yeah, he's the worst.
[00:53:12] Yeah.
[00:53:13] Can we just talk about the fact that
[00:53:16] Keely is a lot smarter than
[00:53:20] she is portrayed to be in this episode?
[00:53:23] Like, Shandy is terrible.
[00:53:26] Shandy is horrible.
[00:53:28] She's the worst.
[00:53:30] And Keely would know that.
[00:53:33] Like, I don't understand why they're making
[00:53:35] Keely dumb in this season.
[00:53:37] They have lowered her intelligence so far
[00:53:40] this season.
[00:53:42] It's awful.
[00:53:43] I'm kind of with you on this one now.
[00:53:46] I'm...
[00:53:48] From the point of view of Roy and Keely,
[00:53:51] like we had a little bit of a difference
[00:53:53] of opinion on like to break them up was
[00:53:56] the dumbest thing they could have done.
[00:53:58] And I kind of saw it as like, well,
[00:54:00] I kind of see why they were doing it.
[00:54:02] But now I agree with you completely on Keely.
[00:54:04] Like, I don't understand the downgrading of Keely.
[00:54:08] Like she's become...
[00:54:10] She went from this incredibly powerful,
[00:54:13] incredibly intelligent and independent woman
[00:54:16] who was talked about in variety,
[00:54:18] got her own, you know,
[00:54:20] spread about her, spread about herself
[00:54:23] to somebody who has seemed to have kind of regressed
[00:54:27] into this high school,
[00:54:31] girl click kind of thing with Shandy.
[00:54:35] And it's Shandy that kind of pulls her down to this.
[00:54:39] It's not Keely regressing on her own.
[00:54:41] This is absolutely Shandy.
[00:54:43] Right.
[00:54:44] This is Shandy's influence and it is a bad influence.
[00:54:47] Well, and it proves that Keely's not ready
[00:54:49] to mentor anybody.
[00:54:51] Yeah, because she's instead of bringing Keely
[00:54:54] up to her level,
[00:54:55] she's instead of bringing Shandy up to her level,
[00:54:58] she's falling down to Shandy's.
[00:55:00] Yeah, it proves that she still needs a mentor
[00:55:02] and it proves that Rebecca is not doing her job
[00:55:05] as Keely's mentor right now
[00:55:07] because Rebecca needs to have a hard talk with her
[00:55:10] and be like, this is not the person
[00:55:12] that you should have in your life.
[00:55:14] Now, but Rebecca is so like spun up about her own life
[00:55:19] with the psychic and Rupert and this and that
[00:55:22] that it's like, nope, everybody's on a selfish kick right now.
[00:55:25] Yeah.
[00:55:26] So here's the question for you.
[00:55:28] No, you know, I'll save it for spoilers.
[00:55:30] Let me write it down because it involves somebody
[00:55:33] who we haven't met yet.
[00:55:34] So I'll ask you this question spoilers.
[00:55:36] But yeah, it's I agree with you.
[00:55:39] I don't like this Keely.
[00:55:41] Thankfully, we're going to get a change to this
[00:55:45] at some point.
[00:55:46] I don't remember when it happens.
[00:55:48] But Shandy is just a that whole confrontation
[00:55:51] with her confronting Roy.
[00:55:53] Hated it.
[00:55:54] It's like, who the hell are you?
[00:55:56] Right.
[00:55:57] And even and what I love about that interaction too
[00:56:00] is Roy even kind of has that in that you could tell
[00:56:03] that's what Roy's thinking too.
[00:56:05] Like, who the hell are you?
[00:56:07] And and and Keely has to be like,
[00:56:09] don't you remember me talking about her all the time
[00:56:11] and like giving him a look like just go with it please.
[00:56:17] That proves also like Keely, what are you doing?
[00:56:20] Like you were with Roy forever and Roy doesn't know
[00:56:23] who this person is.
[00:56:24] And now you have her shadowing you because she made
[00:56:27] one good comment out of shoot.
[00:56:30] Well, I do disagree.
[00:56:32] I do think Roy does know who she is because he does say,
[00:56:35] aren't you the one that used to eat your hair?
[00:56:38] He wouldn't have known that had Keely not talked about her before.
[00:56:41] Didn't he had he already walked in when she was talking about that.
[00:56:46] But she never mentioned that she did it.
[00:56:48] Oh, and also her advice to the boys about their interviews
[00:56:52] was disgusting.
[00:56:54] Well, not only that, but like as much as we hate Zava,
[00:56:57] her interaction with Zava is horrible.
[00:57:00] Oh, yeah.
[00:57:01] Where she's like, hey, don't be a dick.
[00:57:03] It's like what?
[00:57:05] Like first off one, you don't say that to anybody
[00:57:09] in a professional environment unless you know them really well.
[00:57:13] Yeah. Well, even then, like I don't think Keely would.
[00:57:16] Well, Keely might say it to Roy.
[00:57:18] Actually, I'm pretty sure Keely has said it to Roy.
[00:57:22] But she wouldn't say that to Ted.
[00:57:24] She wouldn't say that to Beard.
[00:57:26] She doesn't give a shit like she has no filter and it's not
[00:57:30] proper.
[00:57:31] Trashy to just.
[00:57:32] Oh my God.
[00:57:33] Yeah.
[00:57:34] Gum smacking miniskirt wearing overly bronzed trashy.
[00:57:39] Well, even when she says at the press conference,
[00:57:42] like you want me to take off my shirt?
[00:57:44] No.
[00:57:45] Like that is not what you do in a professional environment.
[00:57:48] Yeah.
[00:57:49] She should have she should have fired Chandi like right then
[00:57:53] and there.
[00:57:54] Yeah.
[00:57:55] It's just well, because I think Keely is kind of blinded
[00:57:58] to it.
[00:57:59] I don't know why, but Keely is about to make like a series
[00:58:03] of horrible decisions.
[00:58:04] Oh yeah.
[00:58:05] Her line of horrible decisions is far from done.
[00:58:09] Yeah.
[00:58:10] This is awful though.
[00:58:11] And it just highlights how much Rebecca is not tuned into
[00:58:15] what's going on.
[00:58:16] Keely is not tuned into what's going on.
[00:58:18] Ted's off on his own personal journey.
[00:58:21] Like just there's so much where everybody is just worried
[00:58:25] about themselves.
[00:58:26] Zava's worried about himself.
[00:58:28] Jamie's worried about himself.
[00:58:30] Keely's worried about herself.
[00:58:32] Rebecca's worried about herself.
[00:58:34] I mean everybody, it's such a selfish episode.
[00:58:37] And maybe that's the whole point.
[00:58:39] Well, and that was just about to say that like maybe that's the
[00:58:42] point from the writer's perspective is that we've been
[00:58:45] positive for these past two seasons.
[00:58:47] We've gotten over all these hurdles to become better.
[00:58:50] How do we make season three feel like a very drastic change
[00:58:55] from bad to good?
[00:58:57] And because you know so far we've been positive about
[00:59:01] everything.
[00:59:02] We need to make it feel as bleak as possible.
[00:59:05] But how do you do that in a positive show?
[00:59:08] You make everybody become selfish.
[00:59:11] Like everybody is in it for themselves.
[00:59:14] Like we need to throw so much shit at these characters
[00:59:18] that when they overcome all of it, it feels like the
[00:59:22] biggest overcome that they have ever done.
[00:59:25] Because by the end of the as much as we are shitting
[00:59:28] on these first couple episodes, the end of this season
[00:59:31] is the best this show has ever been.
[00:59:34] And I think that it's from episode six to 12.
[00:59:37] I agree with you.
[00:59:38] I agree with you 100%.
[00:59:40] Yeah, but this episode and actually I looked this is
[00:59:44] not the lowest episode of the season.
[00:59:47] What is it's episode five?
[00:59:50] It's hang on.
[00:59:53] I'll get there.
[00:59:55] It is the episode.
[00:59:57] Hang on.
[00:59:58] I'm trying to do this with memory and not by looking.
[01:00:00] It's fine.
[01:00:01] It is the episode where Michelle goes on.
[01:00:05] Oh God, goes to Paris.
[01:00:07] Yes.
[01:00:08] So but I actually when I think about that episode
[01:00:11] and I think about this episode, this episode is much,
[01:00:14] much worse because in at least in that episode,
[01:00:17] we still have the diamond dogs altogether.
[01:00:20] And we have the end of Zava and you know, like it's
[01:00:23] just and sorry for anybody, but Zava wasn't staying.
[01:00:27] Okay.
[01:00:28] No.
[01:00:30] But this episode, in my opinion, is the worst episode of
[01:00:34] the series, the series, the fact that it's rated at 7.9
[01:00:38] makes me itch because I don't think I think it's a five,
[01:00:42] maybe even a four.
[01:00:44] I actually put four out of 10.
[01:00:45] I fucking hate this episode.
[01:00:47] I'm sorry.
[01:00:48] I do.
[01:00:49] I because I'm always smiling and laughing and I'm sitting
[01:00:51] there.
[01:00:52] I'm like, this episode's almost over.
[01:00:53] I have smiled once.
[01:00:54] Okay.
[01:00:55] I there are definitely some highlights of this episode,
[01:00:57] but they more happen in quotes and interactions,
[01:00:59] which we'll get to when we talk about it.
[01:01:01] Not pre Madonna.
[01:01:02] Sorry.
[01:01:03] It's just my faith.
[01:01:05] That's my favorite conversation in the series with Roy
[01:01:07] and and Jamie.
[01:01:09] And I'm sure you have been your quotes just as I do 100%.
[01:01:13] But there's two other interactions that I love in this
[01:01:16] episode too, but we'll get to them later.
[01:01:18] There is one other big thing that does happen in this
[01:01:22] episode.
[01:01:24] It's the same thing.
[01:01:25] We have talked.
[01:01:26] No, not even the psychic.
[01:01:28] We've mentioned spoilers.
[01:01:31] And now it has come to the surface.
[01:01:34] It is Michelle's relationship with Dr.
[01:01:37] Jacob.
[01:01:38] And it is an even sassy says it.
[01:01:41] When she's talking to Ted, when Ted says like I just
[01:01:44] found out my ex-wife is, is, you know, interacting with
[01:01:48] our interrelationship with our ex marriage counselor.
[01:01:52] And even sassy's like, that's borderline unethical.
[01:01:55] Like, yes, it is absolutely unethical.
[01:01:58] No, it's not borderline.
[01:02:00] It's not borderline.
[01:02:01] What's I said?
[01:02:02] Absolutely unethical.
[01:02:03] Right.
[01:02:04] Um, you know, and we've talked about it in spoilers.
[01:02:07] Uh, this relationship that is just absolutely horrid and
[01:02:12] unethical from his perspective and un-moral from her
[01:02:17] per-immoral from her perspective, like this is not a
[01:02:21] relationship.
[01:02:22] You do not get in a relationship with your marriage counselor.
[01:02:25] And it goes back to the points that we made earlier in
[01:02:28] earlier episodes of how Ted thought he was being
[01:02:32] intentionally ignored.
[01:02:34] And he's absolutely fucking right.
[01:02:37] Yeah.
[01:02:38] This is, we were, we've been passionate about this
[01:02:41] and spoilers in that he was targeted.
[01:02:45] This guy came in, saw somebody who he was interested in,
[01:02:49] which you're not supposed to do as a therapist.
[01:02:52] You were supposed to separate yourself from them.
[01:02:55] Like, and I'm like, even Dr.
[01:02:57] Sharon is still keeping a profession, even though her
[01:03:00] and Ted are friends when it comes to their sessions,
[01:03:03] she is straight up professional.
[01:03:05] She tells Ted we are out of time and ends the session
[01:03:09] without saying goodbye.
[01:03:10] Do you remember what he says?
[01:03:12] Oh, it's, oh, like he says something about like being
[01:03:16] straight up.
[01:03:17] He says I respect it.
[01:03:18] Yeah.
[01:03:19] Because she's a professional.
[01:03:21] Yeah.
[01:03:24] You know, and it's just, God, I hate this relationship so
[01:03:29] much because I just, even before knowing like stuff
[01:03:37] that we're going to have with the trip to Paris
[01:03:41] and all this other stuff, just knowing that this is their
[01:03:45] marriage counselor automatic hatred for this character.
[01:03:49] Mm-hmm.
[01:03:50] And he answers their phone.
[01:03:52] And of course he answers it with a fucking Trump impression.
[01:03:57] I do like it when Ted goes, oh, hey, Mr.
[01:04:00] former president, I've got a bone to pick with you.
[01:04:04] But so here's, so here's the thing though.
[01:04:08] Ted is somebody who is very positive and makes jokes.
[01:04:13] And we kind of unfortunately see a reflection of that in Dr.
[01:04:17] Jacob when he answers the phone.
[01:04:20] He wants to have fun with the telemarketer.
[01:04:22] He answers the phone.
[01:04:23] He does this Trump impression.
[01:04:26] Do you think maybe this is a reason why Michelle was
[01:04:29] attracted to him because she sees part of Ted in him
[01:04:33] just without not as positive?
[01:04:36] Like I don't know what she sees in him.
[01:04:40] She sees somebody that listened to her, that put her first,
[01:04:43] that gave her his undivided attention.
[01:04:47] That's his fucking job.
[01:04:49] Exactly.
[01:04:51] Yes.
[01:04:52] So Michelle, I mean, and we've never denied this.
[01:04:54] I've never denied this.
[01:04:55] Michelle is just as much a fault at this as Dr.
[01:04:58] Jacob is.
[01:04:59] He is more at fault because well, I said, as I just
[01:05:02] got done saying she's as much and then I say he's
[01:05:05] more at fault.
[01:05:06] I think the fault does far more on him, but she is heavily
[01:05:09] at fault for this.
[01:05:10] Well, she has a very human reaction to feeling validated
[01:05:16] by her feelings.
[01:05:18] He knows better.
[01:05:22] He should know better.
[01:05:23] This is taking advantage.
[01:05:25] Yes.
[01:05:26] And it's disgusting.
[01:05:28] And there's a kid involved, man.
[01:05:31] You know, it's not just marriage counseling.
[01:05:34] They have a child.
[01:05:35] They have a child and you busted up this family.
[01:05:38] You asshole.
[01:05:40] Yeah.
[01:05:42] Yeah, because you know, because you know that's just
[01:05:46] it had they been with a proper unbiased marriage
[01:05:52] counselor, things could have been very different.
[01:05:57] But this guy making Ted feel at fault supporting Michelle
[01:06:03] over Ted.
[01:06:04] Making Michelle feel like she was 100 percent correct.
[01:06:07] Yes.
[01:06:08] He absolutely had an effect on their marriage.
[01:06:12] Yes.
[01:06:13] And is ultimately one of the main people to blame for
[01:06:19] their marriage ending.
[01:06:22] And it's probably the reason why when Michelle came
[01:06:25] to England and broke things off with Ted, he's
[01:06:30] the reason why because he influenced her to do it.
[01:06:34] He probably said you need to just make the cut, just do it.
[01:06:37] He made her feel that it was unfair to Ted if she
[01:06:43] wasn't happy while being the reason she wasn't
[01:06:47] happy.
[01:06:48] Right.
[01:06:49] Right.
[01:06:50] 100 percent.
[01:06:51] It's infuriating.
[01:06:54] And I know there are people that are probably going
[01:06:56] to disagree with us on this.
[01:06:58] And I'm sorry, you and I, we stand agreed on this
[01:07:01] and passionately agreed on this.
[01:07:04] We have a family.
[01:07:05] Yeah.
[01:07:06] We had a family.
[01:07:08] This is an unethical, just horrible situation.
[01:07:14] Yeah.
[01:07:15] Yep.
[01:07:16] So.
[01:07:17] Yeah, I hate it.
[01:07:18] I hate it.
[01:07:19] I hate it.
[01:07:20] Enough already.
[01:07:21] And then as far as all of my Yuck characters, which
[01:07:25] I have all Yuck characters, we just get a little glance
[01:07:28] of Rupert and Nate in this episode.
[01:07:31] Both of them are very pissed off about the fallout.
[01:07:36] That's another good thing with Zava is that it's
[01:07:39] pissing off Rupert and Nate.
[01:07:42] Yeah.
[01:07:43] I don't think it's, I mean, it's just pissing
[01:07:46] them off because of how good the team is doing.
[01:07:48] Like that's exactly from a, it's from a competition
[01:07:51] perspective.
[01:07:52] But yeah.
[01:07:53] Well, because they were supposed to get Zava.
[01:07:55] Oh yeah.
[01:07:56] Oh, Rupert had Zava.
[01:07:58] Do you think Nate could have handled Zava?
[01:08:00] No.
[01:08:01] No.
[01:08:02] No chance in hell.
[01:08:04] I would love to have seen.
[01:08:06] I would have loved to have seen just one episode with
[01:08:09] Nate trying to have a conversation with Zava.
[01:08:12] That would have made my day.
[01:08:13] It would have made the episode.
[01:08:14] Do you want to know one of the things that made
[01:08:16] me laugh about this episode too is when Zava first
[01:08:19] comes in, look at the first person Zava calls out
[01:08:22] as the most important player on that team.
[01:08:26] It's the kitman.
[01:08:27] Yeah.
[01:08:28] Which is Will.
[01:08:29] Yeah.
[01:08:30] You know?
[01:08:31] So which I, as much as we hate Zava, you got to
[01:08:34] give him respect for that.
[01:08:36] He knew exactly, I mean, he looked at Leslie
[01:08:38] said, you are the glue.
[01:08:39] He knew exactly what role everybody plays.
[01:08:42] He could be an amazing team player and it
[01:08:45] could elevate his playing even more.
[01:08:48] But he's too busy loving himself.
[01:08:51] Yeah.
[01:08:52] He's too busy being quote unquote Zava instead
[01:08:56] of just being team player on a football team.
[01:08:59] Because I mean, it's a soccer game guys.
[01:09:02] Come on.
[01:09:03] This is the direction.
[01:09:04] Messiah.
[01:09:05] This is the direct although his back tattoo
[01:09:07] says differently.
[01:09:08] Well, this is that you were right.
[01:09:10] This is the direction that Jamie was headed.
[01:09:14] And it Jamie was cut off from ever becoming that
[01:09:17] and he became better because of it.
[01:09:19] Zava is too far gone.
[01:09:21] There's no way Zava will ever be a team player.
[01:09:24] No.
[01:09:25] There's no there's no pulling him back.
[01:09:29] Yeah, he's LeBron.
[01:09:30] A team player.
[01:09:31] Yeah.
[01:09:32] Yeah.
[01:09:33] He's LeBron.
[01:09:34] Dez.
[01:09:35] Yeah, Dez.
[01:09:36] I said it Dez.
[01:09:39] Well, we're getting feedback from Dez next week.
[01:09:41] Good.
[01:09:42] Yeah.
[01:09:43] Dez.
[01:09:44] The only other thing I kind of have to talk about
[01:09:47] is Rebecca and the psychic,
[01:09:52] which there's not a lot to talk about.
[01:09:54] I do have something for spoilers for this element.
[01:09:57] And I think the reason why there's really
[01:10:00] not a lot to talk about with this is because
[01:10:02] a lot of what this scene sets up just hasn't happened yet.
[01:10:06] Yeah.
[01:10:07] Yeah.
[01:10:08] I mean, it looks crazy and it looks like, you know,
[01:10:11] she is just being cruel and maybe she's saying things
[01:10:14] that her mother wants her to say.
[01:10:16] And Rebecca leaves so angry.
[01:10:19] But then what happens at the end of the episode?
[01:10:21] The Green Match Book.
[01:10:22] The Green Match Book.
[01:10:23] That's where it starts.
[01:10:25] Right.
[01:10:26] But that's what I'm saying.
[01:10:27] Like we get some sort of a payoff at the end of this
[01:10:29] episode to say, oh, maybe what was said in this episode
[01:10:34] is going to matter.
[01:10:35] Well, because it's so funny rewatching this scene,
[01:10:39] knowing what we know, like having watched the rest of the season.
[01:10:42] Yeah, we'll talk about spoilers.
[01:10:43] I'm excited.
[01:10:44] Yeah.
[01:10:45] All right.
[01:10:46] So with that being said, I love the fact that this episode
[01:10:50] started with fastballs out of my head.
[01:10:52] I love that song.
[01:10:54] Took me right back to a 90s,
[01:10:56] the love of 90s alternative music.
[01:11:00] Let's see.
[01:11:01] I think that's pretty much it other than spoiler talk and quotes.
[01:11:05] Yeah, I get nothing.
[01:11:06] OK.
[01:11:08] I know you do.
[01:11:10] That's not a spoiler.
[01:11:14] All right.
[01:11:15] So then with that being said, we are going to dive into
[01:11:17] spoiler territory.
[01:11:18] So if you want to avoid it, just check the show notes to
[01:11:20] find out when to come back into the episode.
[01:11:23] Continuing on with the psychic talk and what we've seen
[01:11:28] from this episode and that like it was so fun watching this
[01:11:32] scene, hearing what the psychic was telling her,
[01:11:35] and then remembering what happens because when she's going
[01:11:38] to be upside down and wet and wet.
[01:11:41] Yep.
[01:11:42] I totally transported me to sunflower like immediately.
[01:11:46] That's what happens to her in New Amsterdam.
[01:11:48] She falls off the bridge into the water upside down upside
[01:11:52] down and who rescues her a shite and dining armor.
[01:11:56] Yep.
[01:12:00] Although I didn't get the shite and dining armor.
[01:12:02] I just thought it was fun.
[01:12:04] But she is rescued and the man who rescues her is the man
[01:12:10] by the end of the series she ends up with and they has a
[01:12:14] family with with her daughter with his daughter.
[01:12:17] The minute you see his daughter's room on that on in
[01:12:21] his house or Houseboat or wherever they are Houseboat.
[01:12:24] Yeah.
[01:12:25] Yeah.
[01:12:26] That second in sunflower, I was like, yep, this is it.
[01:12:31] The guy.
[01:12:32] And then when she leaves and they don't need to know each
[01:12:35] other's names, I'm like, wait, wait, no, no, no, no, no,
[01:12:38] no, no.
[01:12:39] And then like supposed to be your guy.
[01:12:41] And I love that.
[01:12:42] Yeah.
[01:12:43] Right.
[01:12:44] And then when we get to the series finale when she's
[01:12:46] in the airport and the little girls run in and the
[01:12:48] little girl falls and the moment you see feet and you
[01:12:51] hear his voice, you're like, yes.
[01:12:53] Like they're beating it.
[01:12:55] They have been fate has brought them back together.
[01:12:59] Yeah.
[01:13:00] And then we see them all together like outside of
[01:13:02] Leslie's house.
[01:13:03] It's like one of the last scenes of the series finale.
[01:13:05] She's there and he's there in the little girls there.
[01:13:08] Everybody's there.
[01:13:09] Yeah.
[01:13:10] What a great moment.
[01:13:12] But, um, but yeah, the, the, the psychic everything that
[01:13:16] she said, cause like we both have said we haven't
[01:13:20] rewatched this, this season.
[01:13:22] I'm like, yep, check, check, check, check, check, check,
[01:13:25] check, all of that happens and she walks away and she
[01:13:28] walks out just pissed off and yelling.
[01:13:30] I'm like, Rebecca, don't worry.
[01:13:32] It's all going to happen for you.
[01:13:34] We love you.
[01:13:35] Now there is another spoiler in that scene too.
[01:13:38] Um, and it's the bowl because she talks about the
[01:13:42] art of the art.
[01:13:44] Kinsuji, which is the art of using gold to bring
[01:13:48] things back together, broken things back together,
[01:13:51] but we've talked about Kinsuji on this podcast.
[01:13:54] Yes.
[01:13:55] But this is the first instinct we get of it in
[01:13:57] the series.
[01:13:58] The first mention of it because it is how the
[01:14:01] belief sign is brought back together by Nate of
[01:14:04] all people.
[01:14:05] Um, yeah, he's the one that puts the belief sign
[01:14:09] back together using the gold paint.
[01:14:11] Oh, oh, oh, yes.
[01:14:13] Sorry.
[01:14:14] I was, I was in a different part of that scene.
[01:14:16] I was like, no, it's, it's when the whole team
[01:14:18] breaks out their little pieces and then they
[01:14:20] all put it, which God, I can't wait to
[01:14:23] talk about that scene.
[01:14:24] But anyway, no, there's a, there's a later scene
[01:14:27] where we see Ted or Nate at home putting all
[01:14:31] the signs back together and using gold paint to
[01:14:34] put it back together.
[01:14:35] His niece's craft kit or whatever.
[01:14:37] And that's the, and that's the sign that goes
[01:14:39] back on the wall is the one put back together.
[01:14:42] Um, so yeah, so that was a great little
[01:14:45] mention of that.
[01:14:46] Yes.
[01:14:47] Um, the, so the other thing that I had
[01:14:50] make mention of as to Zava's fate that
[01:14:53] is kind of hinted at is that it's very quick
[01:14:57] and it happens in a conversation between Zava
[01:14:59] and Sam at the, at the restaurant.
[01:15:03] Oh, the only conversation that they had.
[01:15:05] Yeah.
[01:15:06] And it's when Zava asks Sam, um, where he
[01:15:11] gets his avocados and Sam says, well, there's
[01:15:16] not really much use of avocado in, you know,
[01:15:19] in, in this kind of food.
[01:15:20] Um, but that's what Zava does when he leaves
[01:15:24] the team.
[01:15:25] He goes to become an avocado farmer.
[01:15:27] Great.
[01:15:28] Because remember at the end of the last
[01:15:30] episode, he sends them this huge fucking avocado.
[01:15:35] Um, I love avocado because Zava leaves
[01:15:40] and leaves soccer, leaves football altogether
[01:15:43] after Richmond and becomes an avocado farmer.
[01:15:46] Great.
[01:15:48] Great.
[01:15:49] See you never.
[01:15:50] So I just, I laughed when I heard that.
[01:15:53] Um, but also it shows just how out of touch
[01:15:56] he is, you know, where do you get your avocados?
[01:15:58] Well, this isn't that kind of cuisine.
[01:16:00] And he's like, well, it's not yet.
[01:16:02] Yeah, exactly.
[01:16:03] And it's like, no dude, like stop.
[01:16:06] Like he doesn't care about other people's
[01:16:08] culture.
[01:16:09] He doesn't care about other people's feelings.
[01:16:11] He does.
[01:16:12] Like he just is so out of touch with
[01:16:16] anybody else.
[01:16:18] But it does, it does go to show though that as
[01:16:22] much as there's a personality clash and as
[01:16:25] much of he drinks his own Kool-Aid, he is
[01:16:27] legitimately the best at what he does.
[01:16:30] So when it's playing football, he is an
[01:16:33] amazing player.
[01:16:34] And when he leaves football and becomes
[01:16:36] an avocado farmer, he grows the biggest
[01:16:39] fucking avocados.
[01:16:40] He really is the best at what he does.
[01:16:43] However, and I'm asking you and listeners who
[01:16:46] are listening right now.
[01:16:48] Do we ever see a human moment from Zava?
[01:16:51] No.
[01:16:52] No, I don't think we do.
[01:16:54] There's not one human moment that we see.
[01:16:57] So I don't care how good you are at anything.
[01:16:59] If you can't be human, if you can't be real,
[01:17:03] I don't need that in my life.
[01:17:07] I don't think anybody needs that in their life.
[01:17:09] Yeah.
[01:17:10] So two other realizations.
[01:17:14] One is a question that I had thought of as
[01:17:16] far as Keely goes that I wrote down because
[01:17:18] I'm going to ask you that question.
[01:17:20] But before I get into that, I think there
[01:17:22] is kind of another realization that happens
[01:17:24] in this episode.
[01:17:25] And it does play into the series finale and
[01:17:28] Ted leaving and going home.
[01:17:30] And I think it is with Zava on the team
[01:17:33] and seeing him performing as well as he
[01:17:35] does and scoring that goal and Beard and Roy
[01:17:39] kind of working together and really meshing
[01:17:42] together as coaches like with the names of
[01:17:44] the teams and everything.
[01:17:46] I think it is the first moment we kind of
[01:17:49] see this team can survive not only without
[01:17:53] Zava but without Ted.
[01:17:57] And it's a sad thought because of we
[01:18:02] know how great this team is and how much
[01:18:04] we love Ted.
[01:18:05] But I think it really is the first example
[01:18:08] we get that this team can go on without
[01:18:11] Ted.
[01:18:14] I mean, what are your thoughts on that?
[01:18:16] I don't know.
[01:18:17] I don't know.
[01:18:18] I don't, I think that what we're seeing
[01:18:21] right now is that this is a team that
[01:18:23] is not ready to be without Ted because
[01:18:25] I agree with that.
[01:18:26] Because Ted didn't get any input in Zava.
[01:18:28] Ted didn't get to coach when Zava
[01:18:31] was there.
[01:18:32] And we see in, it's either the next
[01:18:35] episode or the following episode, the
[01:18:37] players have stopped playing on the
[01:18:39] pitch.
[01:18:40] They're just watching and they think
[01:18:42] that they're winning, right?
[01:18:43] So they can't, they cannot function
[01:18:47] without Ted's guidance right now
[01:18:50] where they are as a team.
[01:18:52] And they need Ted to get back on track
[01:18:54] once he, especially with his fake
[01:19:00] his fake mushroom trip of total football.
[01:19:04] Well, and that's I'm glad you brought
[01:19:06] that up too because I had that in the
[01:19:08] back of my head too.
[01:19:09] And I think that's another point of
[01:19:10] Zava is that without Zava, Ted would
[01:19:13] have never come up with total football.
[01:19:15] He would have never come up with
[01:19:17] total football.
[01:19:18] He didn't come up with it.
[01:19:19] The mushroom tea came up with it.
[01:19:22] That's in sunflowers, right?
[01:19:24] Yeah.
[01:19:25] Oh yeah.
[01:19:26] It's, I'm telling you it is my
[01:19:27] favorite episode because not one
[01:19:30] story is bad.
[01:19:31] Yeah.
[01:19:32] Even Higgins and Will have a great
[01:19:34] Higgins and Will are, I love that
[01:19:37] story.
[01:19:38] Yeah.
[01:19:39] That part of that episode.
[01:19:40] And it's what we're getting ahead
[01:19:41] of ourselves.
[01:19:42] But as far as for right now, I
[01:19:45] think that they are not nobody.
[01:19:49] Nobody is ready to be independent
[01:19:51] from each other yet.
[01:19:52] No.
[01:19:53] Okay.
[01:19:54] All right.
[01:19:55] So let me, let me change what
[01:19:56] I said then a little bit.
[01:19:57] Okay.
[01:19:58] I agree with you.
[01:19:59] The team is not ready to be without
[01:20:01] Ted.
[01:20:02] The team still needs Ted.
[01:20:03] Mm-hmm.
[01:20:04] Coaching wise.
[01:20:05] Oh, okay.
[01:20:06] Roy and, and because after you
[01:20:11] said that it made me kind of
[01:20:12] rethink it a little bit.
[01:20:13] And I agree the team, the team
[01:20:15] still needs Ted.
[01:20:16] Coaching wise though, Roy and
[01:20:19] Beard don't need Ted.
[01:20:21] Well, they've never needed Ted.
[01:20:23] They've never needed Ted.
[01:20:25] Ted is the heart of that team.
[01:20:28] Ted is the soul.
[01:20:30] No, he's not even the heart.
[01:20:31] He's the soul of that team.
[01:20:32] He is, he is the one that is
[01:20:35] keeping them grounded.
[01:20:37] He is the one that is keeping
[01:20:38] them connected.
[01:20:39] He doesn't understand the game.
[01:20:41] That's not, that's not his role.
[01:20:44] I'll go one step further.
[01:20:46] This entire, see this entire
[01:20:51] series, we just got the hints of
[01:20:54] it now.
[01:20:55] We talked a little bit about it.
[01:20:57] Ted has a heart of gold, right?
[01:21:01] Mm-hmm.
[01:21:02] Ted is the Kintsugi of that team.
[01:21:07] Yeah, he is.
[01:21:10] Oh, I love that.
[01:21:12] He is the gold.
[01:21:13] Kintsugi.
[01:21:14] That brings that Kintsugi.
[01:21:15] He is the gold that brings
[01:21:17] that team together and makes
[01:21:19] it stronger.
[01:21:20] Yes.
[01:21:21] And then he leaves knowing
[01:21:23] that it is intact and that it
[01:21:25] will stay intact.
[01:21:26] And it's, think about that.
[01:21:28] Think about that for a moment.
[01:21:30] It's the believe sign that is
[01:21:32] the physical embodiment of that.
[01:21:34] Ted of Ted.
[01:21:35] Ted is the one that brings
[01:21:37] the believe sign in in episode
[01:21:38] one whole.
[01:21:39] Mm-hmm.
[01:21:40] And by the end, it is the
[01:21:42] believe sign back together
[01:21:44] using that method.
[01:21:46] Yeah.
[01:21:47] Ted is that not only to that
[01:21:50] team, but all of the people
[01:21:52] involved with it.
[01:21:53] He's also, he also
[01:21:56] through that believe sign,
[01:21:58] he never leaves the team.
[01:22:00] And I'll go one step further.
[01:22:04] The team is also that to him.
[01:22:07] Whoa, yeah, the team put him
[01:22:08] back together for sure.
[01:22:09] Yeah.
[01:22:10] Rebecca was put back together.
[01:22:12] Beard was put back together.
[01:22:14] Leslie was put back to,
[01:22:16] I think everybody was broken.
[01:22:19] Every last part, the team was
[01:22:21] broken.
[01:22:22] I mean, that's that's why
[01:22:23] Rebecca got the team.
[01:22:25] She wanted to break it down
[01:22:26] to rubble.
[01:22:27] Yeah.
[01:22:28] I don't think I don't think all
[01:22:29] of the players individually
[01:22:30] were broken, but the team as
[01:22:32] a whole was team was broken.
[01:22:34] Absolutely.
[01:22:35] But some of the players were
[01:22:36] also broken.
[01:22:37] Roy was broken.
[01:22:38] Jamie was broken.
[01:22:39] Like there were also broken
[01:22:40] players, but the team as a
[01:22:41] whole was broken.
[01:22:43] So yeah, I think
[01:22:46] I think Ted is that to that
[01:22:48] team.
[01:22:50] So.
[01:22:52] So the other question I had,
[01:22:54] I'm sorry, do you have anything
[01:22:55] for spoilers?
[01:22:56] I feel like I'm kind of hijacking
[01:22:57] the entire.
[01:22:58] No, I mean, you have the same
[01:23:00] spoilers as I do.
[01:23:01] Um.
[01:23:05] Yeah, you have the same spoilers
[01:23:07] as I do.
[01:23:08] I mean, the only.
[01:23:10] I mean, I can't wait.
[01:23:12] I can't wait for Jamie to teach
[01:23:14] Roy how to ride a bike.
[01:23:16] Really can't wait.
[01:23:18] I know, it's just
[01:23:20] it becomes.
[01:23:21] I mean, you know,
[01:23:22] that's going for your fucking
[01:23:23] women.
[01:23:26] That is there's a reason I have
[01:23:28] that on the soundboard because
[01:23:29] that comes from Sunflowers.
[01:23:31] That echo that played like
[01:23:33] kind of over each other.
[01:23:35] Oh, it did.
[01:23:36] Yeah, that was weird.
[01:23:37] It was like echoey and there
[01:23:39] was like two.
[01:23:41] Play that again.
[01:23:42] Oh, oh wait.
[01:23:43] Nope.
[01:23:44] I know exactly why it's
[01:23:45] doing that.
[01:23:47] Because I'm still sharing
[01:23:50] my screen
[01:23:52] from earlier.
[01:23:54] Really?
[01:23:55] Yeah.
[01:23:57] So now it should
[01:23:59] go for your fucking women.
[01:24:03] Perfect.
[01:24:04] Yep, I was sharing my screen
[01:24:05] the whole time.
[01:24:08] I forgot to turn that off.
[01:24:10] So we're sharing the audio as
[01:24:12] well.
[01:24:13] So apologies for that.
[01:24:15] Glad we fixed that before
[01:24:16] voicemails.
[01:24:17] Well, I also, yeah,
[01:24:19] yeah, me too.
[01:24:20] Because that would have made
[01:24:21] things really weird.
[01:24:22] Yeah.
[01:24:23] Okay.
[01:24:24] So then I will I will pose
[01:24:25] this because it's the last
[01:24:26] thing I have.
[01:24:27] And this is the thing I
[01:24:28] thought about with Keely.
[01:24:30] Do you think
[01:24:32] Shandy bringing Keely
[01:24:34] down to her level rather
[01:24:35] than Keely raising Shandy
[01:24:36] to hers?
[01:24:38] Is part of the reason why
[01:24:39] Keely falls into that
[01:24:40] kind of a trap.
[01:24:41] Is part of the reason why
[01:24:43] Keely falls for Jack.
[01:24:49] Or do you think this is just
[01:24:50] something that would have
[01:24:51] happened regardless of
[01:24:52] Shandy was there?
[01:24:56] That's a really good question.
[01:24:59] Because part of me that believes
[01:25:00] that Shandy like this is
[01:25:03] without Shandy's influence
[01:25:04] and kind of pulling her back
[01:25:06] to that schoolgirl mentality.
[01:25:08] Yeah.
[01:25:09] That maybe she wouldn't have
[01:25:10] been as influenced by
[01:25:11] Jack as she did.
[01:25:12] I actually think that it is
[01:25:14] the effect of her breakup
[01:25:15] with Roy that all of this is
[01:25:17] happening.
[01:25:18] I think that she's dealing
[01:25:20] with the breakup really,
[01:25:22] really, really poorly.
[01:25:24] And she's making terrible
[01:25:26] decisions because of her
[01:25:27] breakup with Roy.
[01:25:30] And I think that she goes
[01:25:31] for Jack because Jack
[01:25:34] sees Keely at a weak point
[01:25:36] because most narcissists know
[01:25:38] exactly what she's doing.
[01:25:40] And she's not just
[01:25:42] making a mistake.
[01:25:43] She's making a mistake
[01:25:45] when people are weak.
[01:25:48] And basically,
[01:25:50] like, I don't know,
[01:25:52] just makes her pray.
[01:25:54] I don't know.
[01:25:56] Keely falls for Jack because
[01:26:00] because Jack makes it happen.
[01:26:03] Jack knows how to get
[01:26:05] what she wants.
[01:26:07] Do you think maybe Keely
[01:26:10] sees it as a tentative?
[01:26:12] Maybe.
[01:26:14] She sees somebody who is
[01:26:16] attentive and listening to her
[01:26:19] and addressing concerns that
[01:26:21] she has.
[01:26:22] It's new attention.
[01:26:24] Yeah.
[01:26:25] Which allows Keely to fall for
[01:26:26] it.
[01:26:27] It's manipulation is what it is.
[01:26:28] Well, from Jack's perspective,
[01:26:29] yes.
[01:26:30] That's exactly like.
[01:26:31] But Keely doesn't see it that
[01:26:32] way.
[01:26:33] Right.
[01:26:34] Keely sees it as a tentiveness.
[01:26:36] Right.
[01:26:37] And when we have Jack.
[01:26:38] When we get to that point.
[01:26:39] When we get to that because I.
[01:26:41] I have nothing but terrible
[01:26:43] memories of that character.
[01:26:44] I think that character is one of
[01:26:45] the worst characters.
[01:26:47] Out there was Zava.
[01:26:49] Trying to remember when we get
[01:26:51] Jack.
[01:26:52] Like next episode.
[01:26:54] Is it next episode?
[01:26:55] Yeah, it's like next episode.
[01:26:59] It's either the next or the
[01:27:00] episode after.
[01:27:02] But yeah, because I'm not.
[01:27:03] I'm looking at the.
[01:27:05] But I'm also looking on Plex.
[01:27:06] I'm not looking on IMDB, but
[01:27:08] you're right.
[01:27:09] She's got to be coming up soon.
[01:27:11] We're going to be introduced to
[01:27:12] her relatively soon.
[01:27:13] Well, in episode five,
[01:27:15] in episode five, her and Keely
[01:27:17] are her and Keely start
[01:27:19] hooking up.
[01:27:20] Oh, well then we got to meet
[01:27:21] our next episode.
[01:27:22] Yeah, right.
[01:27:23] Yeah, we have to meet our
[01:27:24] next episode.
[01:27:25] Yeah.
[01:27:26] Yeah.
[01:27:27] Yeah.
[01:27:28] Yeah.
[01:27:29] Yeah.
[01:27:30] We have to meet her next episode then.
[01:27:34] That is all I have
[01:27:36] for spoiler stuff.
[01:27:37] Nope, got nothing else.
[01:27:38] OK.
[01:27:39] So then with that being said,
[01:27:42] welcome back to everybody else
[01:27:43] who is rejoining us after that.
[01:27:45] And we're going to go into
[01:27:47] some quotes,
[01:27:49] some of our favorite quotes,
[01:27:51] which there are some good ones.
[01:27:53] Yes, there is in this episode.
[01:27:55] I'll kick things off.
[01:27:57] Just by saying,
[01:27:58] now Jamie is a lot like my mom's
[01:28:00] precious moments figurines
[01:28:01] collection.
[01:28:02] I have no with that.
[01:28:03] No idea what that means.
[01:28:04] He's a fragile little bitch.
[01:28:09] I love that.
[01:28:10] Yeah, I love that so much.
[01:28:13] I really well,
[01:28:14] my favorite line is
[01:28:16] it's not.
[01:28:17] Did you say pre Madonna?
[01:28:18] It's not pre Madonna.
[01:28:20] It's I don't even have it in
[01:28:21] front of me.
[01:28:22] I do.
[01:28:23] OK, please say it because
[01:28:24] it's I love it so much.
[01:28:26] Yeah, I mean,
[01:28:27] you still could be if you weren't
[01:28:28] such a pre Madonna.
[01:28:30] Did you just call me a pre Madonna?
[01:28:32] Yeah, it's pre Madonna.
[01:28:34] Who the fuck says pre Madonna?
[01:28:36] What the fuck does that even mean?
[01:28:39] It means before Madonna,
[01:28:41] female vocalist didn't have to work
[01:28:42] that hard.
[01:28:43] Are you mad?
[01:28:44] You mean you never heard of Tina
[01:28:46] Turner fucking Stevie Nicks?
[01:28:51] But I love that Jamie
[01:28:53] has this great appreciation
[01:28:54] for female artists.
[01:28:56] He's also it proves that he
[01:28:59] has a brain in there too.
[01:29:01] Yeah, you know, and I also love
[01:29:03] it earlier in the episode when
[01:29:05] he goes and I wasn't being
[01:29:06] ironic.
[01:29:07] I was being hypocritical.
[01:29:09] He walks out and
[01:29:11] Ted goes, was he right?
[01:29:13] And beard is forced
[01:29:15] to say yes.
[01:29:17] I also love that earlier in
[01:29:18] that conversation.
[01:29:20] He says Roy says you frowning
[01:29:23] while we're on a win streak.
[01:29:24] That's a bad look.
[01:29:26] You frowned your whole career.
[01:29:28] No, I never smiled.
[01:29:29] That's different.
[01:29:30] Yeah.
[01:29:32] Exactly.
[01:29:33] I love it so much.
[01:29:34] I love it when Ted says my
[01:29:35] tongue has got more knots than
[01:29:36] in Wainsworld one and two
[01:29:38] smooched together.
[01:29:39] I don't get that one.
[01:29:41] No, no.
[01:29:44] It's one of Ted's references
[01:29:45] I don't get.
[01:29:46] And I've seen Wainsworld one
[01:29:47] and two.
[01:29:49] Do you get the reference?
[01:29:51] I like it because well,
[01:29:52] I like it just because he said
[01:29:53] Wainsworld one and two.
[01:29:55] Oh, I get it now.
[01:29:58] It just clicked.
[01:30:00] It's Wayne and Gareth constantly
[01:30:02] saying like not.
[01:30:04] Oh, yeah.
[01:30:06] I don't know why that didn't
[01:30:07] click
[01:30:09] before now.
[01:30:11] And then there's all right.
[01:30:12] We got to do it.
[01:30:13] All time favorite Julie Andrews
[01:30:14] character.
[01:30:15] Go fog it Maria.
[01:30:17] That is the opening clip of
[01:30:18] this episode by the.
[01:30:19] Oh good.
[01:30:20] Good, good, good.
[01:30:21] Good.
[01:30:22] I do love it.
[01:30:23] Fuck yeah, Princess Diaries.
[01:30:25] Deep cut.
[01:30:26] Deep cut.
[01:30:29] Blah blah blah blah blah.
[01:30:31] And then we have the orange
[01:30:33] cheeto. We have the orange cheeto.
[01:30:35] Yeah. Hello.
[01:30:36] You've reached the house of
[01:30:37] Michelle Keller who by the way
[01:30:38] is doing amazing things with
[01:30:39] the orange slices these days.
[01:30:41] You're going to be amazed.
[01:30:42] It's really spectacular.
[01:30:43] Hey, Mr.
[01:30:44] Former President boy,
[01:30:45] have I got a bone to pick
[01:30:46] with you?
[01:30:48] One of my favorite lines.
[01:30:50] Oh, come on.
[01:30:51] Don't sell yourself short.
[01:30:52] If anything, sell yourself tall
[01:30:54] and get it altered later.
[01:30:55] Yep.
[01:30:58] One of my favorite.
[01:30:59] Well, it just makes me laugh so
[01:31:01] much because I reflect on this
[01:31:03] so much.
[01:31:04] Hey coach, what's today's
[01:31:05] word?
[01:31:06] Oh, ethic, ethic.
[01:31:08] You're a jerk.
[01:31:10] Yeah, that's the wrong word.
[01:31:13] Ethic is a good one that has
[01:31:15] an E and an I.
[01:31:17] But I just I just I just
[01:31:18] I just I love the fact that like
[01:31:20] because as people who have played
[01:31:22] Wordle, we know how valuable
[01:31:24] each of those guesses are.
[01:31:26] But it's also a nod to
[01:31:28] you're not being ethical with your game.
[01:31:30] Yep.
[01:31:32] But the fact that the beard was so
[01:31:34] quick to throw out ethic.
[01:31:37] But also at the same time if
[01:31:39] like,
[01:31:41] like if you're on your last guess
[01:31:42] and none of those letters are in the
[01:31:44] right spot,
[01:31:45] then that's on you, man.
[01:31:47] Yeah.
[01:31:48] If you don't have any green spots
[01:31:50] by the last one with E.
[01:31:52] Yeah,
[01:31:54] I just love you're a jerk.
[01:31:56] I love it.
[01:31:57] I love it because it also tells you
[01:31:59] just beard is just genius level
[01:32:01] smart.
[01:32:02] Yep.
[01:32:04] Some men have a charisma that transcends
[01:32:06] orientation.
[01:32:08] Paul Newman,
[01:32:09] Idris Elba, Norm MacDonald.
[01:32:11] Norm MacDonald.
[01:32:14] I think Idris Elba is the best
[01:32:16] one.
[01:32:17] Also Keanu Reeves could have been thrown in there.
[01:32:19] The moment Sam said Idris Elba
[01:32:22] internally, I'm like, yep.
[01:32:24] Yep.
[01:32:25] Yep.
[01:32:26] Dave did the same thing.
[01:32:28] We all did.
[01:32:29] We all said, oh yeah.
[01:32:30] Oh, I have my own list of those
[01:32:32] same people.
[01:32:33] I mean, Idris Elba,
[01:32:35] Keanu Reeves as you mentioned and
[01:32:37] the other two I will say are Hugh
[01:32:39] Jackman and John Ham.
[01:32:40] 100%.
[01:32:43] 100%.
[01:32:46] Yes.
[01:32:47] And Keanu Reeves just.
[01:32:48] I said Keanu.
[01:32:49] I know.
[01:32:50] I just want to say it one more time.
[01:32:51] I agree with you.
[01:32:52] You know they're making another Matrix movie?
[01:32:53] Great.
[01:32:54] No.
[01:32:55] That franchise should take the blue pill.
[01:32:57] I liked the last one.
[01:32:59] I didn't.
[01:33:00] I loved it.
[01:33:01] I loved their mixture of all.
[01:33:03] You know what?
[01:33:04] Let's talk about that a different time.
[01:33:05] Okay.
[01:33:06] Fair enough.
[01:33:09] Well, that's ridiculous.
[01:33:11] Abraham Lincoln couldn't text exactly
[01:33:13] every time he looked down his phone.
[01:33:15] That would fall off.
[01:33:17] That's the problem.
[01:33:19] That's all I have for quotes.
[01:33:21] That's all the ones I have.
[01:33:22] Yeah, I don't have anything.
[01:33:23] As I said, I hated this episode.
[01:33:25] Yeah, I know you did.
[01:33:27] So it would have been hard to pay attention
[01:33:28] to some of the quotes that were.
[01:33:30] I had a really tough time with this episode.
[01:33:33] I just, it was not a joy inducing
[01:33:36] episode on any level except
[01:33:39] for Prima Donna.
[01:33:41] Well, I think now then would be a good
[01:33:43] time to find out what some of the listeners
[01:33:45] thought about this episode.
[01:33:47] You like that transition?
[01:33:49] Yes, I do.
[01:33:51] So let's move on to the feedback section
[01:33:53] of the podcast.
[01:33:54] Oh, son of a bitch.
[01:33:55] We had one from Alex for spoilers
[01:33:57] and we forgot to play it.
[01:33:59] We'll play next week.
[01:34:00] Sorry about that, Alex.
[01:34:01] Yeah, we'll play it next week.
[01:34:02] It was only like a minute long.
[01:34:03] So we'll play that next week.
[01:34:06] So sorry about that, Alex.
[01:34:08] But let's dive into some of the ones
[01:34:11] that we have.
[01:34:12] Do we want to play like a voicemail
[01:34:13] and then do the Facebook?
[01:34:15] Because I sent you a Facebook one too.
[01:34:17] Yeah, no, I'll do Lindsay's right now.
[01:34:18] Okay.
[01:34:19] Why don't we start with that one then?
[01:34:20] Lindsay schlicked.
[01:34:22] Way too much Zava for my taste.
[01:34:24] Looking forward to him leaving already.
[01:34:26] Me too.
[01:34:28] My favorite part of this episode is
[01:34:29] that Jamie of all people is the smart,
[01:34:31] witty voice of reason.
[01:34:32] One upping beard and ironic
[01:34:34] versus hypocritical was so great.
[01:34:36] I think beard was shook to his core.
[01:34:38] Agreed.
[01:34:39] The later prima donna material was so great.
[01:34:42] I know beard and Roy are both so used to Jamie
[01:34:44] being the moron.
[01:34:45] I loved the role reversal here.
[01:34:47] While I still love the show,
[01:34:48] I'm realizing on this first rewatch of season three
[01:34:51] that it is definitely not my favorite
[01:34:53] compared to the first two seasons.
[01:34:55] Zava, Nate, weird new Keely
[01:34:57] just kind of diminish my love of the show.
[01:35:00] Hoping it picks up.
[01:35:01] I can't remember if it does.
[01:35:03] It does.
[01:35:04] Lindsay, it does.
[01:35:05] Just bear with the show for two more episodes
[01:35:08] and then we'll get to episode six
[01:35:10] and it'll be Ted Lasso of old.
[01:35:12] So I think it's very interesting too
[01:35:14] to note that Lindsay mentioned it
[01:35:16] and Jason mentioned it in the past
[01:35:18] and a number of other people have mentioned it too.
[01:35:20] This is the first rewatch for a number of people
[01:35:23] for season three.
[01:35:24] You and I included in that.
[01:35:27] There's one or two episodes of season three
[01:35:29] we have rewatched a couple times.
[01:35:31] You, Sunflowers, me, the actual finale.
[01:35:34] And, you know, but it's very interesting to note
[01:35:38] that this is a first rewatch for a number of people,
[01:35:40] Lindsay included.
[01:35:41] And I agree with you 100%.
[01:35:43] It is rough right now,
[01:35:45] but just get through the next two episodes
[01:35:49] because by Sunflowers it is
[01:35:52] full speed amazing finale.
[01:35:56] Full speed up until the finale
[01:35:58] and it's just, it's great.
[01:36:00] Yeah, I agree.
[01:36:03] So let's dive then into the voicemails that we have
[01:36:06] in which we have a number of them.
[01:36:08] We're going to start with this one.
[01:36:10] This one comes from Greg
[01:36:11] and this is actually from last week's,
[01:36:13] or last episode,
[01:36:14] which is the I Don't Want to Go to Chelsea episode.
[01:36:17] So we'll play that first
[01:36:18] and then we'll dive into the ones for this episode.
[01:36:20] So here is Greg for I Don't Want to Go to Chelsea.
[01:36:24] You know it's funny.
[01:36:27] Just re-re-re-re-re-watching.
[01:36:31] I don't want to go to Chelsea.
[01:36:35] And you guys talked about a lot of stuff,
[01:36:40] at least the half hour show that I've listened to so far
[01:36:43] on the podcast.
[01:36:45] But one thing that I just want to remark on
[01:36:49] is Roy's story at the end
[01:36:52] and maybe you guys have talked about it.
[01:36:54] But when Ted says
[01:36:58] some people think it's better to quit
[01:37:02] than get fired,
[01:37:06] I mean, yeah, I do have been talking about his dad, right?
[01:37:10] And the reason that Ted never quits
[01:37:16] and it's just so funny because like last season
[01:37:20] I talked about Roy thinking about this article
[01:37:25] when he was reflecting on this doing the same thing
[01:37:30] and talking shit about a 17-year-old kid.
[01:37:33] And Ted is now hearing Roy talk about quitting
[01:37:40] just like his father did,
[01:37:42] not just like his father did,
[01:37:44] but just very sombering to think about.
[01:37:47] And all right, you guys watch the next one.
[01:37:51] Maybe he'll cheer me up a little bit.
[01:37:54] I'm sorry that the next episode probably did not cheer you up more
[01:37:57] because that was this episode.
[01:37:59] I think he was absolutely talking about his dad in that moment.
[01:38:04] Yes.
[01:38:05] I agree with that 100%.
[01:38:07] I think that's what he was talking about
[01:38:09] or he was relating the story at the very least,
[01:38:12] his dad.
[01:38:13] Yeah.
[01:38:14] Isn't it funny too?
[01:38:15] We didn't talk about this at all, but isn't it funny too
[01:38:17] that after we got that last episode,
[01:38:19] the whole differences between Roy and Trent,
[01:38:22] how quickly that went away after they talked?
[01:38:27] Because in this episode, they're fine.
[01:38:29] There's no animosity between the two of them at all.
[01:38:32] Well, Roy looks like somebody that once he's over something,
[01:38:34] he's over it.
[01:38:35] It's just no more concerning.
[01:38:37] It's just done, yeah.
[01:38:38] They squashed it and it's gone.
[01:38:40] Yep.
[01:38:41] I totally agree.
[01:38:42] Yeah.
[01:38:44] But now let's dive into the feedback that we have for this
[01:38:47] week's episode, 4-5-1.
[01:38:50] And we're just going to keep it with Greg and we'll start
[01:38:53] with that.
[01:38:54] So here is Greg's voicemail feedback for this week's
[01:38:56] episode.
[01:38:57] Okay.
[01:38:58] So this is Greg and here's my feedback for 4-5-1.
[01:39:03] Just starting from the beginning,
[01:39:04] is that a different Lamborghini than Colin had before?
[01:39:07] I thought he had the four with lime green or something
[01:39:10] like that.
[01:39:12] So this is all of a whole press conference thing.
[01:39:15] It was hard to watch, but it was awesome to see
[01:39:19] Nonna Nonsense Rebecca just basically trying to put him
[01:39:23] in his place.
[01:39:25] What the fuck are you doing?
[01:39:27] Do you even know where you're going?
[01:39:29] I do not.
[01:39:31] So I was just super irritating.
[01:39:33] Sometimes it's kind of hard to meet your heroes,
[01:39:36] even if you know they're massive pricks.
[01:39:39] So I will say Julie Andrews, the musical theater
[01:39:44] discussion.
[01:39:45] I love that.
[01:39:47] Eliza Dool is my favorite character, but you know,
[01:39:51] Julie Andrews, like she, Mary Poppins will always
[01:39:55] pull the highest place in my heart.
[01:40:01] He's just asinine, right?
[01:40:03] His sayings, his cockiness.
[01:40:06] He's just, he just like, he's just playing into the role
[01:40:11] of a, you know, an idol, right?
[01:40:17] And just really irritating, but he does have
[01:40:21] very impressive one capacity.
[01:40:25] I'm just going to hop onto Jamie real quick.
[01:40:28] Like I love smart Jamie between the pre-Madonna versus
[01:40:35] pre-Madonna.
[01:40:38] And the, this is probably my favorite quote of the episode.
[01:40:42] I wasn't being ironic.
[01:40:44] I was being hypocritical.
[01:40:46] I like smart Jamie.
[01:40:47] She's my favorite.
[01:40:48] But in the, like all of his aspects of his feedback
[01:40:56] was all is just phenomenal.
[01:40:59] I do continue to love Ted's poorly, if my math are
[01:41:08] correct and then immediately followed by either
[01:41:12] Beards, no or Roys.
[01:41:15] No.
[01:41:17] I really enjoy it.
[01:41:19] Like the wanderers.
[01:41:21] I'm just going to say the Dr. Jacob call, fuck no.
[01:41:26] It's, I can't do it.
[01:41:29] I can't watch it.
[01:41:30] It's just shitty.
[01:41:35] So the other part about Jamie, like Roy, you can see Roy
[01:41:40] clocking during Jamie's frustration and then his,
[01:41:43] you know, the offer to train him at the end of the
[01:41:46] episode.
[01:41:47] I was, you know, I thought it was a nice, nice way to
[01:41:51] lead up to further bonding between the two of them.
[01:41:55] Again, I love Sassy like Sassy.
[01:41:59] She's just all about Ted.
[01:42:02] My bra man.
[01:42:03] Yes.
[01:42:04] Sava, Shandy is off putting because she's also
[01:42:07] irritating as fuck.
[01:42:10] All right.
[01:42:11] So for my last little thing, I will say,
[01:42:15] I will say that as a person who got divorced or
[01:42:21] separated or whatever, and then had something,
[01:42:27] you know, pop up unexpectedly.
[01:42:31] Like here it was the call and hearing mommy's friend
[01:42:35] Jake is actually your former marriage counselor.
[01:42:40] I just, that was really hard.
[01:42:44] And I had a moment like that too.
[01:42:47] So Ted mentioned that they went,
[01:42:52] Henry went horse wreck riding with Dr.
[01:42:55] Jacob shortly after my ex-wife and I split.
[01:43:00] She accidentally uploaded pictures to Facebook and one
[01:43:07] of them was her, her good boyfriend and my son in
[01:43:11] like a family picture out of the zoo.
[01:43:13] And like that was probably the worst I've ever felt ever.
[01:43:19] And I can completely understand Ted's frustration
[01:43:24] and anxiety and Facebook stalking.
[01:43:30] So yeah, it was shitty and I really,
[01:43:33] really empathize with him.
[01:43:35] I do have a couple, at least I think the thing is
[01:43:38] the callback about 100% sure.
[01:43:40] But when Beard says a double and a single,
[01:43:45] a triple whiskey, I feel like that's something
[01:43:48] that's been said before.
[01:43:50] And this is something that I keep noticing.
[01:43:55] Roy, when you meet Sandy,
[01:43:58] you're fun which matches up with she seems fun
[01:44:03] about sharing a season two.
[01:44:05] And there was another one here in the last half dozen
[01:44:09] episodes or so might have been in the last season.
[01:44:12] But yeah, so it's good stuff.
[01:44:16] All right, I've gone too long.
[01:44:17] Sorry.
[01:44:18] All right, bye.
[01:44:19] Look forward to the podcast.
[01:44:21] At least you realize.
[01:44:23] That was long buddy.
[01:44:25] That was long.
[01:44:27] Don't do it again.
[01:44:28] At least you realize we won't play it.
[01:44:32] You went long.
[01:44:34] Yeah, Collins Ferrari does change.
[01:44:37] He has a green one.
[01:44:38] I did not know that earlier.
[01:44:40] It's probably because he can't drive them.
[01:44:43] He's really bad.
[01:44:45] Well, because he is still pretending to be somebody
[01:44:48] that he's not.
[01:44:49] Yeah, exactly.
[01:44:51] That's why he has that car.
[01:44:53] He's overcompensating to hide who he is.
[01:44:56] That's why we always see, you know,
[01:44:58] these men with these big lifted oversized trucks
[01:45:02] that you're like, you are overcompensating buddy.
[01:45:05] Like way overcompensate.
[01:45:08] Stop it. Just stop it.
[01:45:10] We all know what this is.
[01:45:13] I appreciate Greg,
[01:45:16] you sharing your personal experience about 100%.
[01:45:21] Yes.
[01:45:22] You know, coming from where you come from with the divorce
[01:45:24] and, you know,
[01:45:26] feeling that feeling when you discovered the picture and such.
[01:45:30] Look, I can't even I can speak to it a little bit
[01:45:33] in saying like finding out somebody I was in a long time
[01:45:36] relationship with when I found out they were dating somebody new.
[01:45:39] I know how that feels.
[01:45:41] I can't imagine it with a child involved.
[01:45:44] No, it's going to be so much worse.
[01:45:47] So as much as I can sort of relate to it,
[01:45:49] I can't even compare it because of a child being involved.
[01:45:53] Right.
[01:45:54] So I, you know, I get it.
[01:45:57] It was felt horrible without a child.
[01:45:59] I can't even imagine it when it's your own child.
[01:46:02] No, yeah, I wouldn't.
[01:46:04] I wouldn't handle that very well.
[01:46:06] I'd probably spiral out to like Ted.
[01:46:08] Yep.
[01:46:09] So I totally get it.
[01:46:11] And again, Greg,
[01:46:12] appreciate you sharing that.
[01:46:13] Yes.
[01:46:14] That was a very vulnerable moment and I do appreciate that.
[01:46:18] There's a lot of,
[01:46:20] I think we get that a lot from our listeners sometimes.
[01:46:24] Jason has definitely done it.
[01:46:26] Greg has done it.
[01:46:27] I think Dez has even done it in the past too.
[01:46:29] And I think a lot of that stems because you and I do it quite a bit.
[01:46:32] Yeah, I mean, yeah,
[01:46:34] I think that it's important to talk about how these shows that we latch
[01:46:38] onto so emotionally why we latch on to them.
[01:46:43] You know?
[01:46:44] I mean, that's why we podcast.
[01:46:45] At least that's why I podcast.
[01:46:47] I like to share those connections.
[01:46:49] I like it when we can have real talk instead of superficial talk.
[01:46:52] Yeah.
[01:46:53] And it's almost a form of therapy that even if nobody was listening,
[01:46:56] we're still getting it out.
[01:46:58] Yeah, absolutely.
[01:47:00] Absolutely.
[01:47:01] So, so no, so not just to Greg,
[01:47:03] but to anybody who's ever like sharing things like that.
[01:47:06] We greatly appreciate that.
[01:47:08] And we love it.
[01:47:09] Yeah.
[01:47:10] But let's move on.
[01:47:11] We still have three more voicemails to play.
[01:47:13] Thankfully, not as long as Greg.
[01:47:14] Sorry, Greg.
[01:47:15] Yeah, Greg.
[01:47:17] I'm not watching Greg.
[01:47:20] But this next one comes from Jeff Allen,
[01:47:25] who jokingly said he was going to leave us like a bunch of feedback
[01:47:31] from like a bunch of previous episodes,
[01:47:33] but jump around all over the place,
[01:47:35] which Kristen said, I think said she would murder him.
[01:47:38] I did not.
[01:47:39] I know you didn't.
[01:47:40] I can't remember exactly how you applied.
[01:47:42] No, now, now I'm going to bring it up because I am not
[01:47:46] going to be no.
[01:47:48] I can't remember exactly.
[01:47:50] I said, I'm going to pretend that's a hilarious joke.
[01:47:53] That's what I said.
[01:47:55] I didn't say murder, hilarious joke, murder.
[01:47:58] It ties together.
[01:47:59] And then he said, if I was actually going to do something
[01:48:02] like that, I wouldn't warn you.
[01:48:04] Yeah.
[01:48:05] So, but we haven't listened to this ahead of times.
[01:48:08] I'm sure it is just about four or five ones.
[01:48:10] So let's go ahead and play that now.
[01:48:13] Hey, Ben and Kristen, it's Jeff.
[01:48:15] I have not sent in feedback for several weeks.
[01:48:19] And so I have feedback for six episodes and the voicemail
[01:48:25] is 25 minutes long.
[01:48:28] I hope that's okay.
[01:48:30] No, no, seriously, I am leaving feedback for six episodes.
[01:48:33] I promised Kristen I would keep this under two minutes.
[01:48:36] So let's get into it.
[01:48:38] Six limericks.
[01:48:40] Oh, first off, no weddings in a funeral.
[01:48:43] Coach Lassa was feeling like shit.
[01:48:45] He felt like his father had quit.
[01:48:47] But in came Doc Sharon, who showed him some Karen and Nathan
[01:48:50] Shelley's a twit.
[01:48:52] Next up, midnight train to Royston.
[01:48:55] Dr. Sharon was leaving and coach Ted Lassa was grieving.
[01:48:59] He said goodbye with a green army guy and he now
[01:49:02] considers them even.
[01:49:04] Season two finale, inverting the pyramid of success.
[01:49:08] Healy is making it big.
[01:49:10] Edwin, a kufo is a pig.
[01:49:12] And then there's Trent who's gone independent.
[01:49:15] But fuck Nate and his wig.
[01:49:17] That was good.
[01:49:19] Premier smells like mean spirit.
[01:49:21] Nate is so hard to take and Rupert is such a snake.
[01:49:25] But the biggest question of all is during Ted's call,
[01:49:28] who the fuck is Jake?
[01:49:31] I don't want to go to Chelsea.
[01:49:34] Once there was a name Jane who made Beard's life a pain.
[01:49:39] She felt threatened by Ted because she's fucked in the head.
[01:49:42] Sorry to be so profane.
[01:49:45] And finally, four five one.
[01:49:49] There once was a man named Zava who Zava was as big as his Zava.
[01:49:53] He's Zava's all day.
[01:49:55] And oh, by the way, Dr. Jacob is a.
[01:49:59] So there we go.
[01:50:01] I am all caught up.
[01:50:03] I will be back in nine weeks for the finale when I will leave nine
[01:50:07] high coos.
[01:50:12] You know, it's wonderful is that I'm teaching poetry right now.
[01:50:16] And if that was at all appropriate, I totally would.
[01:50:21] Because we're doing limericks on Tuesday.
[01:50:26] I love that he's in fricking tasking.
[01:50:29] I love that he censored them even though he didn't have to.
[01:50:32] Well, he censored some of what he said.
[01:50:35] It was like half censored.
[01:50:38] Yeah, that was great.
[01:50:40] That was wonderful.
[01:50:42] Do that anytime you want.
[01:50:45] Anytime you want.
[01:50:47] And I expect the high coos.
[01:50:49] Yeah, now you got to live up to it.
[01:50:51] Yep, nine high coos.
[01:50:53] Better get it going and remember high coos are nature themed.
[01:50:58] Are they traditionally nature themed?
[01:51:00] I teach high coos.
[01:51:01] Yes, you would know you're teaching poetry right now.
[01:51:04] So we have two more to go.
[01:51:07] This next one comes from Alex who thank you again, Alex for joining us last week.
[01:51:12] You were great.
[01:51:13] I was still talking about Alex like yesterday.
[01:51:17] Oh, you and I were talking about like how great it was when he got off the call in my everyday conversation.
[01:51:23] Oh, were you really?
[01:51:24] Yes, I really, really enjoyed him.
[01:51:29] But let's play Alex's feedback for this episode.
[01:51:32] Hey, all Alex Kruger leaving feedback for Ted Laszlo season three, episode three, five, four, one.
[01:51:38] I haven't heard fastballs out of my head in roughly 10 or so years, but I still remember it every word.
[01:51:43] Man, that song is 26 years old.
[01:51:45] That's crazy.
[01:51:46] Now for Zava, everything about him is just the worst other than his ability on the pitch.
[01:51:52] When Michael brings him up to Colin at the beginning of the episode, I remember thinking, damn, Colin gets benched for Zava.
[01:51:57] That's right.
[01:51:58] But let's really look at his transgressions.
[01:52:00] He's over two hours late to his introductory press conference, constantly moves in front of Ted the first time he addresses the team,
[01:52:06] has an entire corner of the locker room dedicated to himself, acts completely like a team guy, then changes the board to represent he is the only thing that matters.
[01:52:13] And the biggest crime is that the coaching staff excitedly goes with it.
[01:52:17] I have to imagine Aaron Rodgers watched this episode and thought to himself, see Zava gets it.
[01:52:22] Now, I'm a Kobe Bryant guy until the day I die.
[01:52:25] But even LeBron isn't as big a douchebag as Zava.
[01:52:28] Speaking of douchebags, I love that Ted keeps calling Dr. Jacob, Dr. Jacob,
[01:52:32] as it means reminding him when an unethical bag of shit he is.
[01:52:35] I'm surprised given how communicative Ted and Michelle are that she didn't give him the heads up that there was a stepfather figure in Henry's life.
[01:52:41] I understand it could be the fact that it was their marriage counselor and that compounded the issue.
[01:52:45] But still, it's not uncommon for divorced parents to have an agreement that if someone is consistently entering their child's life, they're told in a timely manner.
[01:52:52] Honestly, if Michelle had been played by Elizabeth Mitchell, who was Juliette from Lost, the internet would have crucified her.
[01:52:58] Speaking of crucified, great shout out to Jesus Christ Superstar.
[01:53:02] Now, I find it funny, Keely keeps saying she and Shandy work together when in reality Shandy works for her.
[01:53:07] I'm sure Keely doesn't want to seem like a boss to her old friend, but her old friend needs a boss, not a buddy.
[01:53:12] She is wholly underqualified and unprofessional in every scene, and it doesn't come off as charming.
[01:53:17] It comes off as groan inducing.
[01:53:20] Jamie being the only sane person in the room and calling out Roy for prima donna and Beard for ironic versus hypocritical should be obvious signs of his maturation.
[01:53:28] Again, that's why it's doubly frustrating when Beard seemingly ignored Jamie's character development by insinuating Jamie is just as self-absorbed as Zava.
[01:53:36] Jamie was, but he hasn't been since he came back to Richmond.
[01:53:40] Lastly, I remember being so scared the first time I watched that Trent was going to revert to being a scoop journalist when he saw Colin and Michael at the end.
[01:53:47] I guess we'll have to keep watching to find out.
[01:53:49] But that's it for me folks. Keep up the great work and as always, you're gonna die Charlie.
[01:53:59] Alex, you're wonderful. Never change.
[01:54:04] Yeah, we didn't even talk about the fact that Colin was benched because of Zava.
[01:54:08] You know, but we had talked about...
[01:54:12] I am a strong and capable man who is not a piece of shit.
[01:54:17] We had already done enough hate talk towards Zava.
[01:54:21] It made sense.
[01:54:22] But our final voicemail, of course, comes from our friend Steve Brown, who thankfully is home and back to leaving voicemails, which is great.
[01:54:31] So let's go ahead and play our live steving from Steve Brown.
[01:54:36] Hey, hello, Ben and Christian. This is Steve and this is for Titlas of Season 3 Episode.
[01:54:42] Oh gosh, is it Episode 3? I'm so confused.
[01:54:46] Okay, my confusion is because the episode is titled 451, which is just fucking numbers.
[01:54:56] Oh, oh, okay. I had... I totally forgot that Colin was homosexual in this reveal in this episode.
[01:55:06] A church in the airport. I love it.
[01:55:11] Yeah, Danny will take the demotion better than Jamie.
[01:55:15] I don't know why Roy's defense of Julie Andrews just made me so tickled that I literally had to pause the episode and make a comment on it.
[01:55:27] Yeah. Whoa, and I can't go with everybody choosing their favorite Julie Andrews character.
[01:55:34] The one that snorts in sound of music.
[01:55:37] Oh yeah, you talked about this last episode. Jamie cannot be happy with the fact that Zava has taken his whole corner.
[01:55:45] Oh, mysterious Rebecca. What is she late for? I don't remember.
[01:55:50] Dinsale Washington. Obviously greatest actor ever.
[01:55:56] Okay, Zava admitting to Keely that, oh, I've made your life difficult is great.
[01:56:04] Okay, I don't remember wrong. But Zava just rearranging the pieces on the board when he asked where am I at?
[01:56:13] And I haven't looked at it yet. I don't remember where he's at in this plan.
[01:56:17] He puts the whole bunch of players in front of the opposing, I assume the opposing goal and then him in the middle and then somebody to go.
[01:56:27] I don't understand this arrangement. Okay, and who is Rebecca going to see here? I don't remember.
[01:56:33] Okay, I vaguely remember that the psychic comes into play later. I don't remember though these predictions what's oh, and she ends the psychic session with saying that she's cruel. Yeah.
[01:56:48] Beard and lasso. What's his word? Oh, epic. You're a jerk. Yeah, I remember word.
[01:56:55] Okay, whoa, I'm I know I'm running long but Jamie just admitting to beard and lasso that he admits he's being not ironic.
[01:57:05] Wait, not hypocritical. Not ironical but hypocritical. Yeah, whichever one.
[01:57:10] Okay, I don't know the counts in my drop but as last as Ted is dialing his Michelle's phone or trying to Michelle just I can't talk dial Michelle's landline number back in the background.
[01:57:24] You can see this set up four five one setup that kind of is a mic drop. Wow, I have no words for this moment on landline.
[01:57:35] Oh, and so now they're showing us multiple games with Zava playing making goals. And of course, Jamie being left out.
[01:57:46] That was kind of I feel like he was jumping around in the episode. That was out of order. Yeah, that was weird. But thanks, Steve. Thanks, Steve. Always good to hear your voice.
[01:57:58] Yeah. Yeah, it felt like it was a little out of order but the point got made. Yep. That's what matters. But thank you to everybody who left us feedback for this week whether it's via voicemail or Facebook or email however you did it.
[01:58:12] We encourage you guys to do it every week if you can. Easiest way to do that just go to revisited pod.com and there you'll find links on where to listen, subscribe, all of that or you can just email us directly feedback at revisited pod.com.
[01:58:29] Recommendations and final notes for the week. Anything? I have one. Okay. I recommend the new Ghostbusters movie. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was great.
[01:58:43] As a as a fan of the franchise, it gave me everything I wanted. Yeah. And Paul Rudd is always a delight. Yes.
[01:58:51] Yes. I mean, there are so many not not spoiling anything but there are so many nods to the past three movies and the animated series which when as somebody who grew up watching the animated series when the garage door opens up and you see the Ecto A license plate for the bike, I was like, this is amazing.
[01:59:18] I really enjoyed it. And I loved how they brought in the original Ghostbusters crew on this one. I love that, you know, crap. Is it Spangler? Well, Spangler is Egon. That's right. I'm talking Dan Arkwood's character.
[01:59:38] Ray Stance. Thank you. I love that he never stopped. I love that he's got a weird podcast and this intern that told his parents he was at science camp.
[01:59:50] That's podcasts from the last movie. No, no, what I'm saying is I love the fact that he's never stopped doing what he loves and that's what he told Winston at the end.
[02:00:01] Well, I think having Ray as the mentor role in this movie is a perfect fit for that character. And having Winston kind of take on the philanthropic underwriter role.
[02:00:21] But he's the money man. Right. And I thought that that was really good too because he was the latecomer in Ghostbusters and he was always just kind of he was always kind of what I also read than the rest of them.
[02:00:35] Well, what I kind of really appreciate this is when you and you watch like behind the scenes about Ghostbusters you find out that Ernie Hudson really wasn't happy with the first movie because he was kind of brought in as this secondary character.
[02:00:47] Yeah, I don't think he was paid as much as the other three like he was secondary compared to them and it didn't have anything to do with Bill Murray or Dan Agroid.
[02:00:57] It was more the production. The producers of the movie kind of treated him secondary as well. And I love the fact that now Jason Reitman and the new producers with Sony are kind of correcting that.
[02:01:09] Yes.
[02:01:10] They're giving him a much bigger more important role in these movies and they're correcting the mistakes that were made with him in the first movie.
[02:01:19] I'm really hoping that they make a third one because I need one more character to show his face.
[02:01:26] I don't think he ever will.
[02:01:27] And that sucks, man.
[02:01:28] They really do.
[02:01:29] Bring him out of retirement. Bring him out of retirement and have him do this one thing.
[02:01:33] I think if there was ever a chance for them to bring Rick Moranis back it would have been this movie because it takes place in New York.
[02:01:42] Yeah, I know.
[02:01:43] After life it wouldn't have made much sense.
[02:01:45] But I just, I was fully expecting him to show up.
[02:01:49] It's not Ghostbusters without Lewis Tully.
[02:01:52] And they still, they had a scene, they had an end credit scene and I was just like come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
[02:01:59] And it never happened and it made me really sad because I really needed to see Rick Moranis again.
[02:02:06] Yeah, well, so I mean, understandably he retired because his wife had passed away and he wanted to spend more time with his children.
[02:02:14] His kids have to be grown now.
[02:02:15] Well, his kids are grown now and I think there have been rumors he is ready to get back to it.
[02:02:21] This would have been a great time to do it.
[02:02:23] He did a commercial with Ryan Reynolds.
[02:02:26] He did?
[02:02:27] Oh, I'll show it to you when we're done.
[02:02:29] Yeah.
[02:02:30] Okay.
[02:02:31] It's a mint mobile commercial that he did with Ryan Reynolds.
[02:02:33] Awesome.
[02:02:34] But I think if there's any franchise that could bring him out of retirement, I think it would be, I think it could be Ghostbusters.
[02:02:42] I think it should be Ghostbusters.
[02:02:45] But I'm with you.
[02:02:46] I need to see Rick Moranis.
[02:02:48] I need to see Lewis Tully.
[02:02:49] That's, we got Jeanine Melnitz.
[02:02:53] Right.
[02:02:54] We need Lewis Tully.
[02:02:55] Yeah.
[02:02:56] I don't think that this reboot is complete if you do not.
[02:03:00] I mean, we even included Egon man in hologram form.
[02:03:03] Can we please get Rick Moranis back?
[02:03:06] We included the dick.
[02:03:10] Oh God.
[02:03:11] What the hell?
[02:03:12] I forget the character's name, but now he's the mayor in a, you know, he was the dick in the first movie and now he's the mayor in this one.
[02:03:21] So yeah, lots of callbacks, lots of great references to the original plus the
[02:03:24] animated series.
[02:03:25] I thoroughly enjoyed Frozen Empire.
[02:03:28] I thought it was fun.
[02:03:29] I thought too, but I just looked at Rick Moranis as IMDB.
[02:03:32] He's got an upcoming project.
[02:03:34] Guess what it's titled?
[02:03:37] Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
[02:03:38] It's called Shrunk.
[02:03:40] Oh, so it is Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
[02:03:42] Yeah.
[02:03:43] And it's got Josh Gad also starring in it.
[02:03:47] Oh, I did hear about this.
[02:03:51] Okay.
[02:03:52] All right.
[02:03:53] I'm going to see what happens there because I think the only stuff he's done has been animated.
[02:03:58] Yeah, lots of voice work.
[02:04:00] Yeah, but you could do that at home.
[02:04:02] Right.
[02:04:03] I really, really, really, really wish that he was in The New Ghostbusters.
[02:04:10] Me too.
[02:04:13] Okay.
[02:04:14] I do also have a recommendation this week.
[02:04:16] It is something I haven't watched yet, but I am planning on watching it probably starting tonight because I'm going to be posed up.
[02:04:23] I'm podcasting on it with Jason from Podcastica.
[02:04:27] And that is the new fallout series from Amazon Prime.
[02:04:30] Walton Goggins.
[02:04:32] Michael Emerson.
[02:04:34] And Walton Goggins.
[02:04:37] And I have been hearing nothing but amazing things about this series.
[02:04:43] I'm wondering, and maybe you can find out this information.
[02:04:48] So Walton Goggins was in the third Maze Runner movie.
[02:04:54] Did you watch the rest of the Maze Runner movies?
[02:04:56] Not yet.
[02:04:57] Okay.
[02:04:58] He looks almost exactly like his character from the Maze Runner series in fallout.
[02:05:07] And I'm wondering if that...
[02:05:08] As a cool?
[02:05:10] No nose at everything.
[02:05:12] Like you should just look at pictures of him from the third Maze Runner movie.
[02:05:17] It's almost identical.
[02:05:18] And I'm wondering if that had anything to do with why he got that role because he was really good in the Maze Runner movie.
[02:05:27] Oh, yeah, he does.
[02:05:28] He looks like a cool.
[02:05:29] Right?
[02:05:30] Totally exactly the same.
[02:05:33] Yeah, he looks like a cool.
[02:05:35] Maybe that is it.
[02:05:36] Maybe that's the reason why he got the role.
[02:05:41] But other than the fact that he's just an amazing...
[02:05:43] That is Walton Goggins.
[02:05:44] He's just an amazing character actor.
[02:05:46] He's just fantastic.
[02:05:47] Yeah.
[02:05:48] Well, his best role ever will always be Boyd Crowder.
[02:05:51] Oh my God, yeah.
[02:05:53] Golly.
[02:05:54] What a role.
[02:05:55] I'm telling you, I want to do an episode of Wilhelm, which is top five favorite TV villains,
[02:06:01] just so I can talk about Boyd Crowder.
[02:06:03] Yeah.
[02:06:04] Well, I wanted to justify it.
[02:06:08] I don't know if we can do justified though, because technically it's not over anymore.
[02:06:14] Well, we don't have to include the reboot.
[02:06:18] So we'll talk about that down the road.
[02:06:21] Yeah.
[02:06:22] We have the next series picked.
[02:06:23] Let's get through that first.
[02:06:24] Deal.
[02:06:26] But as I mentioned, Jason and I are going to be covering that for Wilhelm and House Podcasting.
[02:06:32] It's going to be another joint venture between the two.
[02:06:34] That's going to be releasing next Monday.
[02:06:37] So Monday, April 22nd, we're going to be releasing our season one recap of fallout on both streams.
[02:06:43] So whether you subscribe to House Podcasting or Wilhelm, you'll get to hear it on one of the two of them.
[02:06:49] That's awesome.
[02:06:51] I think that's it.
[02:06:52] Any final notes on your end?
[02:06:54] Nothing.
[02:06:55] All right.
[02:06:56] So then with that being said, next episode is big game, I think is the name of it.
[02:07:04] I had it written down.
[02:07:06] Big week is the name of the episode. Season three, episode four will be the next episode that we cover.
[02:07:12] Another Zava episode.
[02:07:14] Another Zava episode.
[02:07:15] And we're going to introduce another character who equally sucks.
[02:07:19] So just...
[02:07:21] We mentioned in the spoilers.
[02:07:24] I'm in hate watch mode.
[02:07:27] For now, for two more episodes.
[02:07:29] Just for like two more episodes, I'm in hate watch mode.
[02:07:31] But you know what?
[02:07:32] Sometimes, I mean our best episodes are when we hate watch something.
[02:07:36] Yeah, it's also true.
[02:07:38] We had more to say about this episode than we thought we were going to.
[02:07:40] We didn't really talk about this episode.
[02:07:42] We talked about other stuff.
[02:07:43] We just talked about Zava.
[02:07:44] Yeah.
[02:07:45] Our voice.
[02:07:46] Yeah.
[02:07:48] But with that being said, thank you as always for being a part of this community.
[02:07:52] Thank you for listening, subscribing.
[02:07:54] All that you guys do.
[02:07:55] But until next time, we'll see you guys back out on the pitch.
[02:07:58] Take care.
[02:07:59] Namaste.
[02:08:00] Bye-bye.
