[00:00:00] Hey buddy, I gotta let you go, okay? Have a great day at school. I love you. Love you.

[00:00:16] Hey boss, what's up? Right, I'm just gonna come out and say it. I had a tour to Famous

[00:00:23] Sam. Dad, I'm still on. Hey, sorry about that, okay, I'll talk to you later.

[00:00:28] Yeah, um, okay, so let's see. You and Sam. You will L. Jackson? What was on you?

[00:00:40] Right, okay, just checking. Okay, well, you know, I think that's great. Hold on. Wait, no,

[00:00:48] yes, yeah, I do. No, I think it's fine. I think I need to end it.

[00:00:53] Sure, I can see that. I mean, I asked him for a bit of time to figure things out and now we're in

[00:00:58] a bit of a limbo situation. Great party game, horrible relationship status. And then Edwin

[00:01:03] and Kufu sweeps in to take him away and I've lost all objectivity. Sam's a really great player.

[00:01:11] Well, best we got. But do I want him to stay because my feelings for him?

[00:01:15] Good question. We really went great together. I think come on.

[00:01:20] Sam and Rebecca are already one of my all-time favorite TV couples. I have one of them in real life.

[00:01:24] Yes, please. But if he wants to go, I shouldn't stand in his way.

[00:01:28] I could not agree more. But if I let him go, why am I regretting for the rest of my life?

[00:01:33] Oh, turns out I could agree more.

[00:01:39] Hmm. Well, Rebecca, listen to me.

[00:01:43] Don't listen to me. Don't listen to Edwin and Kufu. Don't even listen to Sam.

[00:01:53] You just listen to your gut, okay? And on your way down to your gut, checking with your heart.

[00:01:59] Between those two things, they'll let you know what's what.

[00:02:04] They make good harmony. Like two-thirds of bone thugs in harmony, you know what I mean?

[00:02:09] Thank you, Ted.

[00:02:16] Hey, you know, boss, you starting to develop a little bit of habit.

[00:02:20] All right? Oh yeah. Same time, same place last year, you dropped another truth bomb on me.

[00:02:29] See you next year. Can't wait.

[00:02:38] Yeah, I might be all that you care.

[00:02:43] Yeah, here's this right where I'll be at.

[00:02:51] Yeah, yeah, here's this right where I'll be at.

[00:02:59] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:03:09] I can't know how much time.

[00:03:15] Welcome to another episode of the Revisited Podcast. I'm Ben.

[00:03:19] And I'm Kristen. This week we are revisiting Ted Lasso season two,

[00:03:26] episode 11 midnight train to Royston. You are so lucky that I got that right because I looked

[00:03:32] down and it said season one on my paper. And I'm like, that is incorrect.

[00:03:36] Yes, I'm not the one that's lucky that I got that you got it right.

[00:03:42] You're the one that's lucky. You got it right because I would criticize.

[00:03:45] We would have had to start here. You got it wrong.

[00:03:48] You're stupid.

[00:03:51] Done the dumbest boy at school.

[00:03:54] That reference seems to come up a lot with us.

[00:03:56] You're stupid. Well, because we're often stupid.

[00:04:00] Yes, this is the pen ultimate episode of the second season.

[00:04:08] Yeah. So we are not my favorite. Really?

[00:04:12] Yeah, I really, it's like one of my least favorite episodes.

[00:04:17] I told you earlier this morning I had not a lot to say about this episode because I just don't

[00:04:21] like it. I don't like the tone. I don't like the mood. I don't like Edwin Akufo at all.

[00:04:28] I think it's he's just, I hate his storyline. I think that we could have done

[00:04:33] just fine without his storyline.

[00:04:37] Okay. All right. I'm very curious when we dive into the episode how that's going to come across.

[00:04:43] So that you know what? Let's just get right into it then.

[00:04:47] Kick it things off by saying as we always do if this is your first watch through Ted Lazo.

[00:04:51] We're going to try and remain as spoiler free as possible until a little bit later on in the podcast

[00:04:56] when we'll have a spoiler section because I do have one or two things I want to mention

[00:05:00] cool and that for this episode. So if you want to avoid the spoilers just check the show notes

[00:05:05] and you can find out where to what section of the podcast to skip and make sure you come back

[00:05:10] for favorite quotes, feedback and all that fun stuff afterwards. So this is a very

[00:05:17] Sam centric episode not completely because there's definitely more storylines with other people

[00:05:24] in this where there's big Roy and Keith. Yeah, there's big Roy and Keely moments in this episode.

[00:05:29] There's more, well I almost said growth with Nate and it's not growth, not one little bit.

[00:05:38] And there's and there's stuff with Ted and Dr. Sharon. So that's probably the best part of the

[00:05:43] episode is I agree. Yeah. I agree. But let's get the Edward Akufu or Edwin Akufo

[00:05:54] stuff just out of the way now. And I'm going to kick it off by saying I love this actor.

[00:06:02] I love the actor. Hate the character. Yeah, we both love the actor. We both reference

[00:06:07] the actor a lot for me. Girl and from the Tomorrow Wars. That's right. I forgot he was in the tomorrow

[00:06:17] stairs. He goes, oh, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, he's got one of the best roles in the entire

[00:06:25] movie. I love him in that movie. I forgot he was in the Tomorrow Wars. Yeah, Sam is the actor

[00:06:33] and he's he's a great comedic actor. And I can see why he was cast in this role. But from the moment

[00:06:40] well, he's Ghana. He's Ghanaian. Ghanaian. I'm so sorry if I got that wrong. Ghanaian?

[00:06:49] I don't know how you say it actually. I don't want to say his mother is from Ghana there.

[00:06:55] Okay. All right. He's also in We're the Millers. He's one of the TSA agents in We're the Millers,

[00:07:02] which is another Jason Sadekis movie. So I wonder if that's kind of how there was the connection

[00:07:10] there. Like he had worked with him in the past, so bring him in. I got really excited when I saw

[00:07:15] him because I love the actor so much. And then he just was the complete opposite of how much I

[00:07:21] love him as an actor. So the character like when we're first introduced to him even before we see

[00:07:28] him is Higgins coming into Rebecca's office and mentioning that he inherited over a billion pounds

[00:07:35] and he's a big fan of football. And then the first instance that we get with him,

[00:07:42] we see his security detail come in and the chopper lands. And my instinct is like for somebody

[00:07:47] who loves football as much as he claims you're landing on the pitch. I said the same exact

[00:07:53] sentence, the same exact sentence because it's a call back to that first episode with with

[00:07:59] Nate going, get off the pitch. Get off the pitch. Now granted it's the practice pitch and it's not

[00:08:05] Nelson road but still like that is sacrilege for football player. It shows on the on the pitch.

[00:08:14] It shows how highly he thinks of himself. Yeah. He is the collector of toys, that's it.

[00:08:23] Well I mean and you can tell like he's a collector of toys and it almost seems like like he buys his

[00:08:30] friends. Yes. Like I mean everywhere that him and Sam went this episode, people were hired to be

[00:08:39] there. Yeah. Which tells you a lot about a person if you have to buy your happiness.

[00:08:47] Well he was there to buy Sam. Which is gross. Yeah. I mean he didn't even have a team put together.

[00:08:55] Like it was, it's almost kind of no I don't want to say it because we talked about it in spoilers

[00:09:01] last week. So I don't want to mention it. I was going to relate to something we talked about

[00:09:06] last week, but what we talked about was in spoilers. Yeah. I mean it's he all he does is flaunt his

[00:09:14] wealth this entire episode and it comes across like incredibly scheezy and just like obnoxious.

[00:09:23] New money. Oh yeah he is new money. He's new money. He inherited it from his father who passed.

[00:09:30] Was it his father or his uncle? I thought it was his father maybe because if it was his father

[00:09:35] then he grew up in wealth, right? Yeah. I guess that would make sense. I'm trying to find the line

[00:09:42] as we're talking about it, but it's um I just came across the the Hagen's line. I once wrote a story

[00:09:51] about a a billionaire that took um let's see. Oh no. Hold on. Yeah so I don't know like while I'm

[00:10:01] looking for the line like I don't know you're right. If it was his father he would have grown up in

[00:10:07] it. So it could have just been like he's using this as an excuse. You know, I don't I don't know

[00:10:15] I don't know all I know is that like from the very first moment he just comes off as Givi

[00:10:23] and he is Givi and he's dismissive to Rebecca and he's just he's even dismissive to Sam. I mean he's

[00:10:30] just so confident that everything he wants he's going to get because he is surrounded by Yesman.

[00:10:36] It's his father um Hagen says his father owns the largest tech firm in Ghana

[00:10:42] Ted says wait a second I thought I did. And then Hagen replies until he died last month and Ted

[00:10:48] I apologize for my joke. So yeah, I mean you're right you made a really good point. I didn't even

[00:10:54] really think about that. He's been brought up in this wealth. This is not new money. Right okay.

[00:10:59] This is I mean he but he comes across deceitful in making it people think this is new money that he

[00:11:06] doesn't want to be like his father. He wants to spend it on experiences and and people to make

[00:11:13] things better. It's like if Dudley Dursley, it's like if Dudley Dursley all of a sudden became

[00:11:17] a billionaire. Dudley Dursley from the Harry Potter. That's what I thought okay yeah the spoiled

[00:11:24] rich oh yeah Dudley got it. Yeah, I mean he wants he's saying that he wants to use this money

[00:11:34] to make things better but better in what one person's eyes isn't what is always better for everyone.

[00:11:41] Well in his definition of better is probably how do I get more liked or how do I get

[00:11:47] more people that adore me or something. It's very self-serving. It's better for himself. Right

[00:11:55] it's better for him. It's not even better for Ghana. It's just what can I do to make myself be

[00:12:01] look better? Yeah but I mean like even even going into like more of like the scheezy behavior

[00:12:09] of Edwin, the handshakes. Like he hasn't touched white people. Yeah that's a big one because he

[00:12:19] refused to shake Ted's hand but immediately shook Sam's and like yeah that's exactly what it is.

[00:12:25] He doesn't touch the white race probably because he looks down on them

[00:12:33] or or looks at them in like a what's the word I'm thinking of. Would he want Sam still if he

[00:12:45] knew that Sam was with Rebecca? Oh I don't know. I don't know that's a good point. That's a good

[00:12:54] question. I don't I don't know. It's interesting. I don't want to think about that.

[00:13:04] I saw here brain just go through that. He's really struggled.

[00:13:11] Colonize it. That's the word I was looking at. That's the word I was looking for.

[00:13:16] Yes a colonizer yeah because and he knows that Sam has a lot of opinions on that anyways you know

[00:13:21] when they think of when he thinks of Christmas I mean we heard him last season that said you know

[00:13:26] oh well when I think of Christmas I think of colonization. Yeah I mean that could be how Edwin

[00:13:32] looks at Ted or anybody of the white race for that matter. Yes however Sam is obviously Sam comes

[00:13:42] from such a good family you know I mean you see that in his behavior I mean you see him up against

[00:13:47] Jamie Tartt now you see him up against this Edwin Akufo character and it's very clear that Sam has

[00:13:55] been raised by someone who taught him the value of a person and not the value of your person yeah

[00:14:03] or your yeah or your person. Yeah that's a better way to put it and and and that's why I think we

[00:14:11] love Sam so much as a character. Sorry my brain broke a little bit because I didn't think we were

[00:14:16] going to go into race talks with this. Really after Edwin Akufo decided not to touch the whitey?

[00:14:26] All right fair enough. It's like the first thing I learned about him okay you don't like the white

[00:14:32] people got it yeah I just looked at him as disrespectful I didn't really look at him in that light

[00:14:37] but now I can't now I can't help but not see it yeah sorry I totally did that was like my first

[00:14:45] thought about him nothing to apologize for especially considering how we see him not to spoil anything

[00:14:50] but how we see him next episode in the finale. Oh I don't remember see we're going into I don't

[00:14:57] remember which is nice okay yeah there's there's ways that we see Edwin next episode that kind of

[00:15:04] solidify this thinking no that that kind of is the reason why I didn't think this way. Oh okay well

[00:15:12] then maybe we'll see we'll talk we'll discuss that next episode but I mean even like he chose to

[00:15:19] eat somewhere but he made sure that he brought his own chefs and they did their own African food

[00:15:24] and like he bought he paid for the people to be eating there and he paid for the warehouse space

[00:15:30] to create this one restaurant just for him and Sam you know they go to the museum of oh that wasn't

[00:15:36] a warehouse space that was a restaurant that well okay but I'm just saying what I'm just saying like

[00:15:42] none of that existed before he went and had it set up so that he could I don't know he could eat his

[00:15:49] own food he could show Sam how influential he was how he could show Sam how much he misses Africa

[00:15:56] maybe I don't know but there was definitely I mean he was very isolationist in what he did they

[00:16:04] went to the natural history museum in London and they went to the African piece of art and he said

[00:16:10] yeah I bought it it belongs in Africa you know they go out to eat and instead of going out to eat

[00:16:15] somewhere and London is as much as the Brits are known for bad food or not cooking well

[00:16:22] London has become yeah London has become a food scene because of that Indian culture that's

[00:16:28] in there because it's such a big city because you have a lot of different it's it's kind of like

[00:16:32] LA or New York right so or fairly but why would you go to London and not eat in one of those

[00:16:40] restaurants there's a lot of cultural diversity there well because it goes back to my earlier point

[00:16:46] is that he just colonizers he doesn't trust exactly right but that's what I'm saying is that

[00:16:51] he only wants to talk to Sam he only wants to eat African food he only wants to see the African

[00:16:58] art at the natural history museum in London like his character is so well established in this

[00:17:04] episode because immediately if you're paying attention you see okay this guy wants to just like

[00:17:10] get back to Africa ASAP he wants to get his Nigerian guy and he wants to go back to Africa

[00:17:17] and he because Sam is Sam stands for something that he that Edwin doesn't understand Sam stands

[00:17:25] for what is right for justice for Nigeria Nigeria to get excuse me for Nigeria to get

[00:17:34] out from under that oil company that was ruining them and it was Sam's influence that stopped the

[00:17:40] drilling that stopped the pollution in the beaches and I think Edwin sees that and he sees that

[00:17:48] he could create relevancy to what he's trying to do not to make something good but to make

[00:17:56] himself look good well and also it's interesting to note too when you mentioned that with the oil

[00:18:02] drilling in Africa and how Sam was influential on getting that to stop the thing that Edwin

[00:18:09] doesn't see is that it's also the rest of the team that assisted Sam in helping that to happen

[00:18:14] too in that protest he also doesn't see that that team is something special

[00:18:21] well no because he is something special it's not Sam he's incredibly shortsighted I mean

[00:18:26] exactly it's only what he sees to improve things right that what he believes will improve things

[00:18:32] uh-huh that what he sees and I think what he's trying to do and it does it it's Sam is not the kind

[00:18:38] of person to fall for this is he is there to basically like even when they're in the restaurant

[00:18:44] and he stop it and he says that you know when when Sam asks are these other actors and he's like no

[00:18:53] these are friends it's basically that's his way of saying that's Edwin's way of saying to Sam

[00:19:02] this is what you could have if you come with me like this is what my friends get to do but that's not

[00:19:09] something that Sam's what he doesn't understand that Sam's not interested well that's what I said

[00:19:13] like this right it's it's an influence it's something that's not going to work on Sam right

[00:19:18] Edwin just doesn't work on Danny Rohos probably probably yeah I mean it would work on Jamie Tart

[00:19:27] maybe I think it would work on almost anybody else on that team but Sam the exact wrong person

[00:19:33] yeah he yeah he picked the wrong person to do even Aurora agrees with me

[00:19:40] Aurora will agree with anything as long as it gets her attention

[00:19:45] um Ben has the most beautiful cat and she likes to cuddle with Ben and Ben thinks it's annoying

[00:19:53] I don't think her cuddling with me is annoying it's when she's walking around me outing

[00:19:58] this because she wants you to pick her up and that's not always it it's so cute

[00:20:03] and then she nozzles him and doesn't want to let go and it just makes you want a cat

[00:20:10] so apologies if you hear her in the background because I can't stop her now that we've already started

[00:20:18] there she goes again um so yeah so you're right Edwin has chosen the wrong person

[00:20:27] to to kind of pull this influence on because it's not going to you know we as it's not a big spoiler

[00:20:36] at all it's not going to work on Sam although they make us they do a good job in believing

[00:20:43] that it might that phone call at the end when he's talking to his father saying how incredible

[00:20:49] the the whole day was like they do a good job of making us believe that you know Sam's going to fall

[00:20:58] for this and I think that we as viewers I never thought Sam was going to leave me the first time

[00:21:07] I watched it I always because I think that if you've been paying attention and you understand

[00:21:13] that Sam's values are not monetary no I agree it's it's you know and even so much so is in

[00:21:24] you look at like the wealth that Edwin Akufu is as parading when he's there visiting

[00:21:32] but even before Edwin Akufu shows up a good indication as to how Sam lives his life

[00:21:39] is him and Colin in the parking lot after that game Colin is driving a Lambo yeah Sam's driving

[00:21:49] a Tesla I know like he's environmentally conscious because that like he's driving an electric car

[00:21:57] granted Teslas can be expensive but like you know he uses Sam uses his his wealth and earnings for

[00:22:07] good for good exactly so and he uses his celebrity for good I mean he had an opportunity

[00:22:15] to speak out against what was being done in his country and he did so eloquently

[00:22:20] and he is such a good teammate and such a good friend that has team backed him up his whole team

[00:22:26] backed him up Jamie started of all people to back him up yeah that's that's team has to wear the same

[00:22:34] kit I mean what a moment you know so you look back on something like that and you look forward to

[00:22:42] and and that just proves that Edwin Edwin just sees an opportunity he doesn't see a person

[00:22:47] I don't because if he had been paying attention he wouldn't have even approached Sam

[00:22:51] I would have taken a different approach I don't even see him as as he's seeing an opportunity

[00:22:56] he sees a trophy right well I think that that's what I'm trying to get to and that that's a much

[00:23:03] better word that you're using yeah Edwin sees Sam as a trophy yes Sam is an old person his trophy

[00:23:09] player like a trophy wife yeah yeah exactly trophy player I don't know if I have anything else on

[00:23:16] on Edwin Akufu at this moment because we're no we'll get more into him next episode in the

[00:23:21] finale it's extremely unlikable character from the beginning from the beginning I mean like

[00:23:27] able in a sense that like you you kind of want to smack him around a little bit but in a sense

[00:23:32] of like yeah character wise personality wise he is in an unlikable character from the from the moment

[00:23:38] he lands on the pitch yep before you even see him yep exactly 100% I have half expected to see Nate

[00:23:50] running out there no well let's talk about Nate for a moment I know we have to I mean

[00:24:01] look I know we have to because that's the that's as Roy would say that's the job mate

[00:24:07] we are we are getting we are on the precipice of the culmination of what is about to happen

[00:24:14] I mean we're not going to say what it is because that's next episode I think that we you if even

[00:24:19] if you haven't seen the show it's very obvious that Nate made a move in this episode Nate made a move

[00:24:26] in this episode but even from the beginning when when Will comes in and says I got the suit Ted bought

[00:24:36] you dry cleared what I mean will come on man and Nate takes offense to that but you know what like

[00:24:44] not to defend Nate but he's got a point like no this is my suit my effing suit it's my suit

[00:24:53] will was wrong in that moment but do you think Will was trying to make a joke like like try to be

[00:25:01] a part of the diamond dogs like he's diamond dog junior puppy dogs I don't I think and I think Will

[00:25:08] is kind of puppies I think

[00:25:16] carbon wolves that's that's lasso he's a carbon wolf he's a carbon wolf no I think

[00:25:25] I think Will is like yon like he just has it innocence about him and he just speaks what he's thinking

[00:25:33] at that moment he sees that suit but I get your analogy will what Will is just speaking what he knows

[00:25:42] of that suit he knows that Ted bought that suit so it was just instinctual for him to say like oh

[00:25:49] this I got the suit that Ted bought you what I got the most non black colored suit you can wear

[00:25:55] to a funeral pressed for you you dick that would have been better but Nate does take it

[00:26:02] a little aggressively like is aggressive yeah well even even in the next moment when he

[00:26:11] talks about the false nine and he brings it to you know to Ted's attention and Ted is all about

[00:26:17] it's like yeah we're gonna do this in in in practice today what do you call it though he calls it

[00:26:23] the fake nine fake nine yeah it's like well it's the false nine but but immediately after Ted leaves

[00:26:28] the room he can't say it with Ted in the room because he doesn't have the balls for that but he says

[00:26:34] it to to Roy and Beard like do you think that I like if this plan works I'm he's Ted's just going

[00:26:43] to take all the credit for it and and you like you said Roy's like well that's the job that's

[00:26:49] the job mate Roy and Beard already are aware of this and acknowledge it because they don't because

[00:26:56] also if it doesn't work Ted also gets a hundred percent of the blame yeah exactly so yeah if it works

[00:27:03] Ted gets a hundred percent of the joy because he also has to handle it when it doesn't work yeah

[00:27:09] when the late eight and Roi don't when Richmond loses it's not Nate Beard a Roy in that press conference

[00:27:17] it's Ted yep Ted takes the heat and and it's just so immature not to see that but on the same token

[00:27:29] Beard Roy and Ted could have brought him up and educated him a little bit more than what they've

[00:27:37] been doing well I want to say real quick to it on that note I'm jumping to the very end of the

[00:27:44] episode I'm not talking about the text message we'll talk about that I do like it that he said this

[00:27:48] is trick crime and then it says be independent be independent but we'll we'll talk about that I know

[00:27:54] but the fact we've talked one of the things we've mentioned is the use of music in this in in

[00:28:00] the show the fact that the show ends with karma police by radio head yeah that was a great song choice

[00:28:09] yes because it does almost seem like this is karma in the way Ted has treated Nate coming back

[00:28:15] to bite him yes and the thing is is that I think Ted Ted 100 percent has taken Nate for granted

[00:28:25] but Nate hasn't done anything to tell him hey man please pay attention to me

[00:28:33] well not only that but Nate has been because yeah we've talked about that like

[00:28:37] upon first watch of this when this goal comes to a head it shocked us as viewers yeah but now upon

[00:28:46] rewatch of this we see the seeds planted towards this we see it a little different and we

[00:28:53] and we see there is blame on both sides and we see the I think the biggest indicator of that is when

[00:29:01] Ted laughs at Nate what was that four or five episodes ago not only that but I mean the other moment too

[00:29:10] is when Nate pushes or Ted pushes Nate out of the way to congratulate Roy like almost shoves him out

[00:29:19] of like walks right past him oh well there was on the sideline of the pitch in dorm one of the games

[00:29:25] yeah I mean it's a signal that was that at the time I love that signal um I mean it's obvious

[00:29:34] that Nate hasn't been a part of the coaching staff for a while because of the way that he dresses

[00:29:40] on the pitch especially since earlier in the episode like we talked about or earlier in

[00:29:46] the season like we talked about a few minutes ago Jamie said a team should wear the same kit

[00:29:53] I mean that is a really good piece of of foreshadowing for what's happening on the coaches

[00:29:58] sideline because three of the four coaches are wearing the exact same thing yeah and

[00:30:04] and none of them should wear the same kit not only that but one of the other things I noticed this

[00:30:08] episode two is every time Nate has been out there in a suit he still kind of blended in a little

[00:30:14] this episode when this episode starts with Sam and like with them winning the game and then you

[00:30:20] see the coaches Nate stands out yeah because he's wearing the suit that Ted gave him yeah he's wearing

[00:30:27] the suit that Ted bought him thanks Will also known as his funeral suit his game suit his party suit his

[00:30:36] dinner suit well we see him buy a new suit by the end of this episode

[00:30:44] and that's a funeral suit that yeah black shirt black tie like black suit like that cash yeah

[00:30:51] but we also see it's and we talked about this a couple episodes ago in that some of the confidence

[00:30:58] that Keely and Rebecca were influencing in the Nate was going to backfire and we see that happen

[00:31:05] firsthand this episode because Nate builds up the confidence and he kisses Keely that was the

[00:31:11] dumbest thing in the whole world that he could have done that is Roy Kent's girlfriend are you

[00:31:15] out of your ever loving mind well because well and they also think that's because Nate has been

[00:31:21] filled with so much of this false confidence that I think he even believes he's better than Roy

[00:31:28] I think that Keely makes everybody feel better about themselves and feel really good because

[00:31:32] that's just Keely and really insecure small men can take that the wrong way yep 100%

[00:31:41] that's why women women want to be nice to people like they really do but if you're too nice

[00:31:49] all of a sudden you're asking for it right so it's I think a really good example of you know

[00:31:56] women are so warm and can be so warm and make people feel better and then dickheads like Nate

[00:32:05] ruin it for all the other men no I mean that's accurate you know because I mean and then we see

[00:32:15] it like it instantly breaks Nate it breaks that confidence because we see him he runs into the dressing

[00:32:23] room and he's got tears in his eyes he's broken well and he uh he shares his his water moisture with

[00:32:30] the uh with the mirror yeah it's one thing to do that at home it's something completely different

[00:32:38] to do that in a dressing room of a like the last time we saw him do he was in a restaurant oh that's

[00:32:45] right he was in the he was in the uh the restaurant of uh where he meets Jade the Greek restaurant

[00:32:54] that's what it was Greek I was trying to think of the nationality what's it called that restaurant a

[00:32:59] taste of Athens that's what it tastes like you couldn't get a table at a restaurant called a taste

[00:33:04] of Athens yeah I mean but we see this like this breaks Nate again to the point where he does

[00:33:14] what he does to the mirror and I mean it's so disgusting we don't even like saying what it is

[00:33:19] watching it roll down the mirror was the worst part for me

[00:33:24] it's disgusting like hate hate stuff like that I mean then I get it like I get like this is him

[00:33:31] doing this to himself like everybody else as he feels everybody else is done to him

[00:33:37] that's not a way to build confidence right it like you're you're putting yourself down

[00:33:43] mm-hmm by doing that and it's just we're seeing this harmful nature

[00:33:48] that you know unfortunately we're not going to see Nate come around from until for a while

[00:33:54] that uh mm-hmm yep Nate has a lot of hard lessons to learn

[00:34:01] and you know sadly we're not going to see them start until like I think even halfway through next

[00:34:07] season oh maybe even later than that it's a short time yeah it doesn't feel short

[00:34:17] it really doesn't like I remember watching the third season going oh my gosh come on

[00:34:24] um but uh let me see yeah I got that on Nate

[00:34:29] I got that um yeah so I mean if we could go into a little bit with trunk crim here

[00:34:38] because we are still on Nate okay no no we can do that because you're right it does tie in to

[00:34:44] Nate uh because at the end here we see that Nate has made his move right yes we talked about

[00:34:52] this in spoilers a couple episodes back or in I think a man city yeah we've been waiting

[00:34:59] for this moment to come because you know we we knew how this season ended and then we also

[00:35:06] knew that trunk crim was fishing around a little bit too about what had happened at that game

[00:35:11] well that's just the curiosity of a reporter I don't put any really blame on on Trent for that

[00:35:19] um he's a good reporter too he's a good reporter I mean and a good reporter man a good reporter is

[00:35:24] gonna chase the story um you know and which is why he said listen I'm a journalist I highly

[00:35:29] respect you but I am a journalist and this is a scoop yeah and if I don't print it somebody else

[00:35:35] is going to print it the fact that Trent even told Ted like sent him a message and said hey this

[00:35:41] is front page tomorrow I just wanted to let you know my sources Nate reporters do not reveal sources

[00:35:52] no I think is it unethical it is it's because you're not supposed to do that as a reporter there's

[00:35:59] a reason why sources remain anonymous right so for a reporter to you know for reporter to do that

[00:36:08] I don't I don't think shows I don't want that to come across as saying like well Trent's

[00:36:14] unethical he's not this is just the massive respect he has for Ted right because he knows this

[00:36:21] is going to harm Ted it's gonna harm the team yeah I mean there's there's um there's somebody that

[00:36:29] is undermining the team for their own personal benefit and using Ted as the weapon yeah yeah

[00:36:36] and I mean as the bullet is loved by the press at this point yeah they love him he's pressed gold

[00:36:42] there's one game away from being promoted mm-hmm I mean Nate could not have chose

[00:36:50] I mean yes a worst time to oh worst time to do this but also best time to do it oh no this

[00:36:58] was intentional from Nate you know what I mean like it's best for Nate but not best for the team

[00:37:03] he works for for the coach that brought him up from Kitman it just it's disgusting to me the whole

[00:37:10] thing is disgusting well when we talked about it during the Man City episode in the spoiler territory

[00:37:14] we saw like when Ted reveals it to the rest of the team the look on Nate's face he just he just

[00:37:22] put a bullet in the chamber yeah and talking to talking to Trent he fired that bullet

[00:37:29] I'm wondering if Rupert told him to do it I don't want to get too far into this though

[00:37:37] yeah because that's that's it's teetering oh spoiler no the minute I said it I felt bad

[00:37:47] it's it's teetering a little bit I'm just gonna put uh Rupert

[00:37:54] spoiler so yeah like I mean you know we're seeing very clearly that Nate is making a power move

[00:38:03] he he wants credit for the stuff that he's coming up with for the place that he's doing

[00:38:09] he wants he wants Ted's position he he thinks he's better than Ted at this point it's just

[00:38:18] and he thinks he's better just because he knows the game better but that's not why that's not

[00:38:23] why Ted is staying as head coach Ted being head coach has nothing to do with his knowledge of

[00:38:31] his relationship with the players it's the fact that he is a coach yeah he relies on beard for

[00:38:38] the game yeah he relies on Roy for the game he like look at the three people that he has around him

[00:38:45] they know their game inside and out Ted knows people it's a perfect perfect coaching team

[00:38:53] well even in the moment and I want to try and find the exact line because I think it's it's really

[00:38:58] good um you know when beard tells him he says you know we used to believe that trees competed

[00:39:07] with each other for light uh Suzanne Simmerd's fieldwork challenged that perception and now we

[00:39:12] realized that the forest is a socialist community trees work in harmony to share the sunlight

[00:39:18] and Nate can you just give me a straight answer for once and Roy I think he just did

[00:39:23] um the fact that Roy understood that yeah and and Nate couldn't

[00:39:30] comprehend what beard just told him he could he just it didn't serve Nate and his ultimate

[00:39:38] purpose yeah Nate that was a choice that he made Nate didn't want to hear we work together as a

[00:39:45] right he didn't want to be brought back from what he is has already resolved to do yeah Nate wants

[00:39:55] the individual praise mm-hmm it's not a team win it's Nate's win and he feels that he has some

[00:40:03] sort of camaraderie with beard and Roy because some of the things that he says to beard and Roy like

[00:40:09] if I was beard I would be taking this to Ted I'd be like listen man he's upset

[00:40:15] I don't know where it's coming from but beard has to know because he's one of the most

[00:40:19] observant characters in the entire show so the fact that beard never said anything to Ted

[00:40:24] I think is a serious misstep on Beard's part well do you think it's a camaraderie between them

[00:40:30] or do you think from Nate's point of view I mean I see what you're saying from Beard's point of

[00:40:34] you because I agree beard should have said something so I do think as hard as it is to admit I do

[00:40:40] think Beard is slightly to blame for some of what is happening or what is about to happen

[00:40:46] coming up but I think from Nate's point of view like Nate is very open with Beard and with Roy

[00:40:53] and I a part of me believes that's because Roy already Nate already feels like he's above them

[00:40:59] yeah oh yeah like he's already on a level above them how long was he kit man

[00:41:09] I don't know it'd be interesting and you know this is something that is just

[00:41:15] you know we're podcasting so we go this deep but it'd be interesting if to know if he was there

[00:41:22] longer than Roy Kent oh yeah that's a good question the only reason why I ask is because he probably

[00:41:30] feels that he has seniority in this moment do you know what I mean yeah I wonder

[00:41:38] see if I look at his let's see history no that starts with being bullied it doesn't show

[00:41:46] anything yeah I don't really know if there's ever if it's ever been revealed how long he was kit

[00:41:53] man for AC Richmond before Ted shows up well I mean obviously he has you know quote unquote

[00:42:01] seniority over 10 beard but I'm just talking about Roy because if he if he was there before Roy

[00:42:06] was added as a player then he would feel some sort of superiority over them

[00:42:11] as he got more comfortable in his role because that's just the kind of dickhead character that he is

[00:42:16] yeah yeah but I mean still you're just a fucking kit man like right saying like you're not part

[00:42:24] of the team because every single person is as a part of that team even will as a part of that team

[00:42:30] right uh you know so it's kind of degrading to say you're just a kit man but

[00:42:35] I'm on my part but yeah yeah like maybe he was there longer than Roy I don't know that's a good

[00:42:42] question yeah I'm very curious to I might have to do some digging to see if I can figure that out

[00:42:49] to see if it's ever been revealed yeah anyways Nate sucks he's gonna suck for a while and it sucks

[00:42:55] to suck and he's gonna suck even worse next episode yeah so you know those of you who haven't seen

[00:43:00] the show that are following along with us Nate's not getting any better sorry no spoiler alert he's

[00:43:05] not getting any better and he sucks and now I can just say it he's just like Jack Jack just sucks Nate

[00:43:11] just sucks Nate sucks and he said and it sucks to suck Jack just sucks Nate just sucks

[00:43:21] just does a quick aside because listening to Steve say that was gave gave me the thought but

[00:43:28] Mike we're watching last as a family right now and last night we watched not Penny's boat

[00:43:34] and um it was not great I'm sure the moment you texted me and told me uh we're about to watch

[00:43:44] not Penny's boat I was like oh I think my exact response was oh no oh no yeah so Danny

[00:43:54] hid under the covers Adam had his head in his hands a whole time it was uh it was a sad

[00:44:01] sad day it was so sad that we had to watch the season premiere which also shows clarifying out

[00:44:08] about not Penny's boat oh no it's like a one two punch at least it's over to tell you the truth

[00:44:15] at least for now because I told well I told the kids I said listen this was a huge moment for lost

[00:44:21] fans like this right here it is iconic if you're a lost fan not just saying not Penny's boat

[00:44:27] is iconic we know what you're talking about we know we we are blasted there immediately in our brain

[00:44:35] so I said congratulations you are now a part of the zeitgeist when it comes to to lost

[00:44:42] I mean to oh god just wait till you get the soiler and juliette

[00:44:47] shh quiet anyways on a happier note shifting away from lost Higgins has an office again

[00:44:56] I know we got his office back which is great

[00:44:59] he gave it 10 comes and he goes you're not here to tell me I'm leaving you again

[00:45:06] well I mean even like so this kind of takes us into the doctor Sharon stuff and um you know because

[00:45:13] we find out that doctor Sharon is leaving AFC Richmond she's moving on to another team

[00:45:18] and seeing Ted working with the team to to do their dance number of five great

[00:45:28] five five five but seeing like after Ted walks away and coach take coach beard take over

[00:45:37] and the team does the number and beard's like that's it and like how hard they cheer

[00:45:43] that they got it right yeah well I mean how hard they they celebrated when they just when

[00:45:49] they got high boss right that's right and this is not I'm not going to say too much detail but

[00:45:56] this is not the last time we see the team do something like this no no I love it has very

[00:46:05] very big remember the titans vibes when they do this oh that's everywhere we go everywhere we go

[00:46:14] people want to know you know what I'm talking yeah that's no that's a good reference to

[00:46:20] who we are sorry we watch remember the titans a lot in this house it's a great movie yeah it's

[00:46:28] I think it's one of Danny's favorite movies so she's always watching it um but yeah so I mean

[00:46:33] we see you know Ted walks into to Higgins office now uh to find out that Dr. Sharon has left and

[00:46:41] left everybody notes and like I agree with Ted like I felt with Ted there like Ted being upset

[00:46:49] that she didn't even say goodbye uh you know to the point where he runs off and he stands outside

[00:46:56] of her flat until she returns and confronts her inside the flat and I I came to a really good

[00:47:05] realization this episode because you know we see Ted confront Dr. Sharon about leaving about

[00:47:12] the breakthrough that they had Dr. Sharon in meeting she had the breakthrough as well you know saying

[00:47:17] like you made me better which says a lot because I was already fucking great you know I love that about

[00:47:23] Dr. Sharon you know the breakthrough that she had that she she can reveal her emotions to help get

[00:47:29] emotions out of other people that is a major breakthrough for a therapist and then when she's

[00:47:34] for a therapist like her yeah who is so emotionally unavailable just as a personality but the realization

[00:47:42] that I came to is when she convinces Ted like if everything she wanted to say is in the letter

[00:47:49] and he finally decides to read the letter and as a fan like the first time around I was like I

[00:47:54] wouldn't know what she wrote me too and this time around I was like watching Ted's face and seeing

[00:48:01] how meaningful that letter was to him it made me realize and there's a personal experience tied

[00:48:09] to this it made me realize this I don't need to know that moment is for Ted and Dr. Sharon

[00:48:17] we as viewers don't need it that's kind of like did you ever watch the office when when Pam what Pam and

[00:48:25] Michael say when Pam walks up when Michael leaves no I was thinking about what the note said in the

[00:48:33] teapot from or that too yeah that too but also on the same note when Michael leaves the office

[00:48:39] right and Pam runs up to him and you can see them talking you never know what they said to each other

[00:48:46] right no but so the the personal moment that I tie into that and I think I've mentioned I know

[00:48:51] you know about this and I think I've mentioned doing this podcast before last summer I had the

[00:48:55] opportunity to meet Michael Jay Fox 35 years in the making this was a surreal moment for me yeah

[00:49:03] and that immediately regretted not taking a picture with him and then I thought about it I was

[00:49:09] like you know what I have that memory yeah nobody else needs to share in that memory but me

[00:49:15] that's my memory I'm not I'm okay that I didn't get a picture with Michael

[00:49:21] and that kind of made me think about this moment with the letter I was like you know what that's for

[00:49:25] them I don't need to know what was in that letter I like it when she'd like start talking to him

[00:49:32] she's like this is all in that letter if you would just read the letter she tries so hard to

[00:49:39] just get her to read the letter but I get it you know like Ted and she should have known this

[00:49:45] about Ted she should have known this about Ted she could have left everybody else their little notes

[00:49:52] but she should have known this about Ted Ted needs an actual goodbye he needs closure because he

[00:49:58] has had a life without closure well yeah exactly closure was a big word that I had written down

[00:50:05] you too because that's something that Ted absolutely needs but I also love at the same time

[00:50:13] that they do get there goodbye together they go out you know after he gives her the envelope of cash

[00:50:19] you know they go to the pub we got you a whole load of cash here's your gift it's such a dumb gift

[00:50:25] here's a pile of cash but I love that I would have taken that gift I still I mean get her a plaque

[00:50:34] or something a bicycle bell I mean flowers but I love that way they're at the pub

[00:50:42] and he says he's got to use his his second favorite diamond Phillips the Lou yeah that he

[00:50:52] he buys her a beer and leaves her the note and the note just says goodbye

[00:50:57] and she's like some of a bitch stole my move I like which is what is that a callback to

[00:51:06] oh that's a callback to good will hunting there you go I was waiting for you to give the

[00:51:10] Robin Williams yeah some of a bitch stole my line yeah exactly which I don't know if you know

[00:51:16] this or not completely improvised by Robin Williams I thought you were going to tell me it was

[00:51:22] improvised by Dr. Sharon no no it was that was improvised by by Robin Williams at the end I

[00:51:29] always assume that people like Robin Williams improvised most of their lines because it's just

[00:51:35] going to be better than whatever anybody has to offer I mean nothing against actor nothing

[00:51:40] against writers because writers are brilliant but oftentimes the funniest moments or the

[00:51:45] most poignant moments are improvised moments well it's like even like going back to the office you know

[00:51:51] a lot of that you kind of watch and you're kind of like I wonder how much of this improvised was

[00:51:55] improvised but when you watch like interviews no when you watch interviews with them like they say

[00:52:01] like that the writing was so good that a lot of times it was not improvised it was written they were

[00:52:07] the writers well that's also true that's that's a valid point that is a very valid point never really

[00:52:16] picked up on that well they weren't all writers Mindy Kaling was a writer B.J. Novak was a writer B.J.

[00:52:26] Novak was a writer and Paul I forget his name they all have writing credits if you look at

[00:52:33] I know Kersinsky Kenny Rain they none of them all the bigger cast did not have writing credits on

[00:52:40] the show which is interesting to me because Kersinsky is a writer I know the quiet

[00:52:46] places one of my all-time favorite movies I'm excited for the the prequel yeah but I still

[00:52:52] wish that it was the same family because I love that family or Killian Murphy um I need more Killian

[00:53:00] Murphy in my life I'm really like there is just watching the Oscars tonight keeping whole I don't

[00:53:05] have time to watch the Oscars tonight I got work tomorrow I haven't even done anything yet everybody

[00:53:10] out everybody that's listening is like the Oscars were last night yeah but here's what here's a deal

[00:53:15] the next day I look at all the list of winners and I watch the acceptance speeches that I want to

[00:53:21] watch and I save four hours of my life do you know not getting too far off topic but I just recently

[00:53:27] went back and rewatched um Michelle yo Jamie Lee Curtis uh Kihoi Kwan and Brendan Frazier's

[00:53:33] acceptance speeches from last year yeah I'm not surprised because there's so good what you do

[00:53:37] you're so good um what do you mean that's what I do you rewatch speeches I do I do rewatch

[00:53:46] so don't what do you mean when they're emotional and anyway we we're all I'm watching walking dead

[00:53:52] tonight the ones who live okay that's my life right now until it's over that's my life I look

[00:53:58] forward to it I talk about it I watch it I want to rewatch it don't have time um what the how

[00:54:06] are we talking about I was talking about Lasso I think yes um oh shit that's one of my notes too

[00:54:14] well I'll mention it in quotes because it is a quote um so yeah so seeing you know Dr.

[00:54:21] Sharon and and Ted's goodbye was sad because it is a moment because we've grown to like Dr.

[00:54:27] Sharon at this moment um at this point in time we've grown she's a part of our team now yeah exactly

[00:54:36] but I'm I'm ready to move on to Roy and Keeley okay unless you have anything else with Dr.

[00:54:45] Sharon no I actually don't have a lot more to say at all so yeah um so okay so then I I want to say

[00:54:53] that I seeing oh I got to mark my little star next to this because that spoiler talk um make sure

[00:55:00] I didn't bring it up we're seeing a lot of we get to see Roy spend a little time with Miss

[00:55:06] Bowen in this episode uh leading into the photo shoot with Roy and Keeley and it's interesting

[00:55:16] because I didn't know how to take this upon first watch like I'm like is this is the two of them

[00:55:21] breaking up like I don't know what this is is this the first kind of fracture that we're seeing

[00:55:26] in this relationship that we love so much and then upon analyzing it and watching it this time around

[00:55:32] I think I figured it out and I'm curious to what your thoughts are this is two people who have

[00:55:40] supported each other and continue to support each other so much that they help each other grow

[00:55:46] and there are two people that are now kind of realizing they're out growing each other

[00:55:51] their growth has gotten so big Roy is realizing that Keeley has become so independent that she

[00:56:00] doesn't need Roy and that other people are going to you know I think there's a bit of jealousy

[00:56:09] involved he wasn't threatened by Nate kissing Keeley he calls it awkward but when she finds out

[00:56:16] that Jamie still admits he has feelings now he's threatened because that was when he reacted he

[00:56:21] didn't react to Nate and that was physical this was just something Jamie said because Keeley and

[00:56:30] Jamie had a really long relationship and Jamie spent a lot of growing Nate is just not a threat

[00:56:39] at all no not not the Roy so I see that but I also I think this is the most forced storyline in

[00:56:47] the entire series breaking like splitting fractures yes it is unnatural it happens out of nowhere

[00:56:54] it's completely forced I don't think that they've outgrown each other I think that they make

[00:56:58] each other better and I think it's okay to say that you are made better by your partner

[00:57:04] I think it's okay to be I am an independent woman I am also devoted to my husband and I love

[00:57:11] my husband and I can't imagine my life without my husband I don't want to imagine my life without

[00:57:15] my husband but if something horrible were to happen to him or if we were separated because he was

[00:57:23] in the military for 22 years I'm okay I'm independent yeah you know but I am made better by my

[00:57:31] husband but I believe that he is made better by me and I almost what a wonder if maybe it's Roy

[00:57:38] is feeling like he's holding Keeley back and I take issue with that I really do I don't think

[00:57:47] I think that this is where men men largely right because this is a male written show but I also

[00:57:55] saw it in the movie Barbie which I believe is a female written show I think that we as people get

[00:58:02] the idea of feminism incorrect all the time women do not need to prove their worth by their

[00:58:09] independence it is okay for us to rely on our partners to make us better in the movie Barbie

[00:58:17] we we are not looking to be better than men we are just looking for equality that's it the minute

[00:58:24] we start looking for something more than basic equality we are no better than the men in the

[00:58:30] past that have tried to keep us down I agree with that so this but this is the issue I have with

[00:58:35] feminism just as a whole because I am a feminist but I'm a feminist for equality I'm not a feminist

[00:58:41] to be better than then another person and I don't think that that's what we should be looking for

[00:58:47] ever and I think that this store this is where they got this storyline 100% wrong

[00:58:55] okay it's the one thing that I really honestly take issue in this whole series I think this

[00:59:00] is the most unnatural part of the show and I I just wish that it never happened like Monica

[00:59:07] and Chandler made each other better they didn't have to go through the breakup and the will

[00:59:11] there the won't they they didn't have to do the Ross and Rachel and you know what when you look at

[00:59:15] the show friends we gravitate more towards Monica and Chandler because they're safe they're stable

[00:59:21] they make us believe that we can have that too we don't want the drama Monica and and

[00:59:27] Monica and Chandler's relationship with friends is quite honestly of all television one of my favorite

[00:59:32] couples like a yes there are there are so many moments in their relationship that I

[00:59:38] I like love and like that make me laugh there's the episode where they get back from

[00:59:44] their wedding and they realize they lost the cameras and Chandler goes to another person's

[00:59:50] wedding to take all the fake pictures and at the same time Monica opened all the gifts

[00:59:55] and they call it even yeah okay and they high five like and it's done it's forgotten

[01:00:03] that's relationship goals right there no we don't want Ross and Rachel we want Monica and Chandler

[01:00:10] in our lives and our own personal lives we are looking for our Monica and Chandler we are not

[01:00:16] looking for Ross and Rachel and I think that so many times tell and we've talked about this

[01:00:21] countless times television always gets this wrong we are tired of the Ross and Rachel trope give

[01:00:27] us the stability give us this is what you want this is your goal is to be made better by your partner

[01:00:35] when it's okay to evolve together and I think that's one of the reasons why we gravitated going

[01:00:40] back to loss for a minute we gravitated more towards Sawyer and Juliet 100% then we did Jack and Kate

[01:00:46] or any other relationship on that show is because they were together and they were stable they

[01:00:51] were confident in what they had they supported each other it was a supportive relationship even when

[01:00:56] Jack and Kate came back they weren't shaken yeah you know that is what we want as people we

[01:01:03] want our stability we want to know that everything is going to be okay in the most important

[01:01:10] relationship in our lives yeah I don't so I I'm sorry that we took kind of a path no I wanted you

[01:01:17] to talk about this because I'm glad because I want to know what your thoughts are on all of this

[01:01:22] I don't want it to just be my thoughts that are out there like I'm glad you haven't opinion on this

[01:01:27] but now my mind is just like uh you opened all the gifts you kissed another woman

[01:01:33] call it even okay now I want to watch that episode because that is just that's a great

[01:01:41] but that's but that's their whole relationship you know they're open with each other even when

[01:01:45] they're insecure and they talk to their friends about how they're insecure and their friends give

[01:01:51] them terrible advice they still go back and they talk to each other and then they make fun of

[01:01:55] their friends for giving them terrible advice and they make fun of each other for even questioning

[01:02:00] things right you know yeah or Howard and Bernadette oh Howard and Bernadette there's another

[01:02:09] relationship that you know they made each other better yeah significantly better oh man

[01:02:15] she said they make each other Howard in particular good lord I almost he's unwatchable before

[01:02:22] a Bernadette unwatchable yeah he's just a horrible character before Bernadette comes in

[01:02:30] so much so that I don't know if that show I really don't know if that show would have gone on as long

[01:02:34] as it did with some of the characters without without Howard and Bernadette without the addition

[01:02:40] of Amy Farrah Fowler yeah yeah and their recurring characters were strong oh one time I saw

[01:02:48] Zach I got excited once they developed yeah oh my god I love Zach Zach I wish that they would have

[01:02:55] brought him back more to like if maybe he dated Bernadette for a while or oh my god I can't

[01:03:02] even imagine that he he talks crazy he says I'm so sorry to the listeners he says crazy things watch

[01:03:11] Marco Polo the way he holds a wine glass so it's like just fisting yep fisting this damn

[01:03:21] as Zach was such a great re-curry character what a great character yeah I love Zach anyway um so the

[01:03:31] only other thing I have left to talk about on my list anyway I mean you know we did get some

[01:03:35] with Roy and Miss Bowen which kind of felt like they were almost shipping them a little bit

[01:03:39] it seemed like they were kind of using Miss Bowen as a distraction that maybe Roy could sway

[01:03:45] um but I I'm I'm glad that they didn't go that case um let's say the only other things I have

[01:03:53] let's see we have I talked about the photo shoot

[01:03:59] that we got the Sam and Rebecca cheers reference for that we've been making for a while you know

[01:04:04] Ted makes it himself and we know Sadekis has the connection to cheers and that he's

[01:04:09] um George Wentz nephew so I love anytime they get to throw a cheers reference

[01:04:15] in there and we get Rebecca and Ted with Rebecca revealing to Ted she had the relationship

[01:04:24] with Sam not as big of a revelation as the last penultimate no no not in the not in the slightest

[01:04:34] I like when she's like when Ted's like oh you know this is the second time in a year or something

[01:04:39] about this last this time last year you also gave me another bombshell yeah this really

[01:04:43] that's not that big of a deal yeah yeah for sure um that's pretty I think that's pretty much

[01:04:50] everything I have without going to spoilers I really was disappointed in Rebecca this this

[01:04:56] episode just because I thought that she was just kind of vanilla when she's always fun Fetty

[01:05:03] why cuz I don't think she was the focus of the episode right no I understand that but she's

[01:05:08] still Rebecca true boss ass bitch boss ass bitch exactly where's Nora where's Nora when you

[01:05:15] need her there's Nora yeah exactly um anything left for you before we go into spoilers uh huh okay

[01:05:23] so then with that being said if you're new to this and if you're this is for first watch and you

[01:05:28] want to skip the spoilers uh we're gonna spend a couple minutes on spoilers so just check

[01:05:32] the show notes to when we can come back to talk about some of our favorite quotes

[01:05:36] that said I want to stick right to that moment because this is one of my spoiler spoilers things

[01:05:42] in that reveal like when Ted says you know you're gonna say exactly what I'm I was gonna say so

[01:05:48] I'm really excited we did this last year you know it seems to be that time and then they say see

[01:05:54] you next year I honestly got choked up cuz you know what the bombshell is it's that Ted's going home

[01:06:03] Ted has a bombshell for Rebecca yeah it is the penultimate episode of next season is

[01:06:10] the episode when Ted reveals to Rebecca that he's going home and then they do the the goodbye

[01:06:17] of fetus and well that's not that's in the finale no that's what I'm saying so that we're

[01:06:22] still doing the songs yes yeah that's what I'm saying when yeah when I said we see the team do more

[01:06:27] of this yeah yeah it's they do it for Ted right and they get just as excited when they nail it

[01:06:34] of course the deal because they're they're the most adorable little boy adults you've ever seen in

[01:06:40] your life um I do want to talk about one in particular did you have anything else on that no like

[01:06:46] I said like when when they reveal when they say like I'll see you next year like I said I honestly

[01:06:52] got a little choked up with Dave and I looked at you they're like oh bill yeah

[01:07:00] so what I almost said earlier I just want to kind of go into now a little bit

[01:07:09] I don't know that Nate would have thought to do this on his own he is not that

[01:07:15] uh he's not that skilled of a chess player so to speak I think that he's already in talks with

[01:07:24] Rupert he's already you know he's already been obviously by last week he had already been

[01:07:29] approached by Rupert in that in that um conversation when he was whispering this year on his way out of

[01:07:34] the funeral and so I think that they're still in talks and I think that Rupert said if there's

[01:07:41] anything that you have on Ted you know you might want to use it or something like that I think

[01:07:47] that this is all orchestrated by Rupert I can see that I didn't really put any thought into that

[01:07:54] until you made mention of it earlier on yeah that you're right because we do see Rupert whispering

[01:07:59] in Nate's ear at the funeral and there have probably been other talks since then especially since

[01:08:05] at the end of this episode we see him and he's announced as the new head coach that's not something

[01:08:10] that that happens overnight yeah you know what I mean like Rupert had to buy this team secretly he

[01:08:16] had to figure out his coach he's announced seriously he's announced as the new owner not the new head

[01:08:20] coach no no I'm sorry when Nate is announced as a new head coach and like all of those pieces don't just

[01:08:31] like happen like you've got to put them all in place so my guess is that

[01:08:36] Rupert is going after Rebecca in this way Rupert is the Moriarty of this situation yes that's

[01:08:45] very good very good literary reference Ben I give my students tickets when they do something good

[01:08:55] I look I'm not gonna lie I love Sherlock Holmes so any chance I get to make a Moriarty reference

[01:09:02] I will take it perfect they are that is one of the few series of books I have actually read them all

[01:09:13] hmm I've never read Sherlock Holmes there's not many there's not many I think there's maybe four or

[01:09:18] five Sherlock Holmes books there's not many I have them in my classroom library and I've never read

[01:09:23] them but more Moriarty is a character who is referenced in every book oh no I know that because

[01:09:29] I've I've watched the bedded at come or back oh Sherlock is so good and it's so good

[01:09:34] and Mark from Smoug and Bilbo Baggins together but you also don't meet Moriarty until the final book

[01:09:43] he's only referenced in the other books okay as so that he is the mastermind behind the scenes

[01:09:50] until the final confrontation oh fun I'm gonna I gotta read those books they're good they're good books

[01:09:55] um no I agree with you I think there is definitely some whispering now that you've said it

[01:10:02] I do think there's some rupert influence going on here I just don't see Nate as being

[01:10:08] savvy enough to pull something like this off he's reactionary enough to do it he's angry enough

[01:10:14] to do it but to seek out Trent Creme to give him this piece of information you're right you know what

[01:10:20] I mean like that's asking a lot of this character who can't even get a table at Taste of Athens

[01:10:26] yeah yeah you're right he doesn't have the confidence to eat all right he doesn't even have

[01:10:30] the confidence to request a window table right um and he's gonna go to Trent Creme yeah you're right

[01:10:36] that's that's rupert's doing has to be has to be so I mean how much so okay so if we go with

[01:10:45] that thought it seems that Nate is under rupert spell which Rebecca was under for a really long time

[01:10:53] and Rebecca got out from it and she became better as a result and we are going to see Nate come

[01:10:59] out of it we're just gonna watch the whole process we didn't get to watch the whole process with Rebecca

[01:11:04] because you'll remember that uh sassy says man you haven't met Rebecca right well we know Nate before

[01:11:13] he before he got into rupert's uh clause and he was a good dude he was humble he was modest

[01:11:21] he was funny he was kind and then rupert saw something weak he saw the weak link in Nate

[01:11:29] because he was and he took advantage of it to destroy Rebecca and in doing so he almost destroyed

[01:11:35] Nate so if we see it as Nate is being brainwashed and then coming out of that abusive relationship

[01:11:42] at the end of season three I think and I'm I'm having the sepiphany right now I think it makes the

[01:11:48] next season more tolerable okay you mean that you mean the the situation with Nate more tolerable

[01:11:55] in the next season yes okay because uh because I yeah I'm making sense no you're making complete

[01:12:01] sense and to make another literary reference that makes rupert the Voldemort of this show

[01:12:07] or does it make him the umbridge oh I don't know but I was just instantly she's the worst character

[01:12:18] in all I was just instantly taken back to your post on instagram of the from national women's day

[01:12:24] where it was like all the women not you and then for professor umbridge let me tell you

[01:12:32] of all of the movies and books as as there are some evil characters in that series yeah

[01:12:40] god I could not stand umbridge nobody can and no and the actress that played her was brilliant

[01:12:47] and however I oh no wrong actress nevermind the actress that plays the herbologist at Hogwarts

[01:12:56] yeah man is her actually just recently came out and just recently came out and said that she doesn't

[01:13:05] get why adults aren't over Harry Potter yet she doesn't understand why adults like Harry Potter

[01:13:11] like they should have gotten over it by now why right it's a magical beauty of

[01:13:18] litter rare rare genius I look JK Rowling we have problems with JK Rowling

[01:13:25] I'm not letting that take away the magic of Harry Potter for me ever just tend to your plans and be

[01:13:32] quiet yep Harry Potter has been instrumental in my life in my kids life and my family's life so

[01:13:38] you know what professor Sprout shove it take that mandrake and shove it up your booty

[01:13:45] uh the only other thing I have for spoilers for this one we do have a voicemail from Greg

[01:13:50] uh that was marked as spoilers and it's from rainbow so it's Greg is playing catch up um we have

[01:13:56] a couple voicemails from him this week and then we have a couple more next week so uh we're

[01:14:02] spreading out his catching up because he sent us like five minutes worth of voicemails we're not

[01:14:07] doing that this week sorry Greg um the only other thing I have though in spoilers is the fact

[01:14:14] that did you pick up on so the restaurant that Edwin Akufu Akufu takes Sam too that he brought in his

[01:14:22] own chefs and everything do you know what that is is that Sam's restaurant that Sam's restaurant

[01:14:27] nice that is the restaurant that Sam buys and opens at the end of he buys it's the end of this

[01:14:34] right I can't remember what he calls it oh well a but at the end of this season he purchases

[01:14:42] that restaurant and next season we see him actually turn it into a African restaurant

[01:14:50] Nigerian Nigerian restaurant yes which good on Sam yeah see he does what he does because

[01:14:57] he's a good man yeah oh I love Sam Obasani so much he's not going to fill it with Fred well he

[01:15:04] does fill it with friends quite often but he fills it with his actual friends his the team didn't

[01:15:09] have to pay anybody to be there yeah well because it even goes into show it so when I mentioned

[01:15:16] earlier the side of Edwin Akufu that we see next episode is the childish temper tantrum Edwin

[01:15:23] because Sam says no he says no he turns him down but we also see it next season two in that the

[01:15:29] next time Edwin comes to town he buys all the reservations in Sam's restaurant so that nobody

[01:15:36] so the restaurant is empty that night that's all I forgot about that that's just childish yeah

[01:15:46] so that he's such a jerk because Sam's restaurant is so popular like it's it's booked every night

[01:15:51] right and then one time he comes in and there's nobody in the restaurant and that's because

[01:15:56] Edwin before it got vandalized right yeah yeah galley so that's all I have for spoilers this

[01:16:04] episode but we do have that voicemail and let's you have anything else nope I'm good you want to

[01:16:07] bring up all right so then before we drop out of spoilers and go into quotes let's play this

[01:16:12] voicemail from Greg back from rainbow okay so this is Greg again and while I can totally appreciate

[01:16:21] these asyncness of lemurix for an episode of tevlaso you don't get all of the crazy shit

[01:16:30] like all of the references and you guys covered a whole mess of them

[01:16:34] and it's not going to be about romcoms but I'll tell you what though this is spoiler only spoiler

[01:16:41] only i'll tell you what when Roy is sitting there tearing up over how he's 17 years old

[01:16:52] we're not in the locker room with him we don't have any idea what has going on in their lives

[01:16:58] we're not there to help them become better people when he's doing that then he's talking about that

[01:17:03] I swear to god he is thinking about the article the trinkram wrote about him when he was 17

[01:17:13] and he just had somebody talking shit about how he was overrated and like it was like on rewatch

[01:17:23] it is shockingly like to me obvious that he is thinking of exactly that he is exactly

[01:17:32] thinking of how his words will affect this 17 year old boy before his wink before bed anyway

[01:17:41] I just wanted to add that on all right off to the signal that's a good that's that's a good pickup

[01:17:50] I didn't think about that it was his wink before bed

[01:17:56] but i mean that's a good point like because we do find out in season three that there's a reason

[01:18:01] why Trent and Roy well Roy just has a dislike for Trent and it's because Trent wrote an

[01:18:07] artist scathing article about Roy when he was younger and that sticks with him

[01:18:14] and you're right that's part of that confrontation that they have with each other too

[01:18:18] yeah I just I can't wait till season three because of Trent

[01:18:23] I know I know I wish that he was in he's barely in season two and yeah and it just sucks like

[01:18:30] we only see him twice we get to see him next episode and then we saw him in the bar

[01:18:38] yeah that's it yeah we get to see him unless i'm mistaken

[01:18:43] I know i think there was one other time in the in the beginning of the season that we saw him too

[01:18:48] okay but i love the fact that yeah in in the season finale next episode that we're going to talk

[01:18:53] about there it's at the press conference after they get promoted and Ted instinctively goes to

[01:18:58] Trent for the first question and Trent's not there and it's because Trent resigns as a reporter

[01:19:06] and becomes Trent Grimm independent independent exactly i love him so much

[01:19:13] I the Trent is such a great addition to season three i cannot wait

[01:19:17] well he's like um those reddit posts that i see all the time on the tv shows where it says

[01:19:23] who has the least amount of screen time in the most amount of popularity in in your show

[01:19:29] and i always think of Trent Grimm he's the first one that i always think of

[01:19:33] next god next season next episode next season so much um that's all i have for first spoilers

[01:19:40] and nothing okay uh so then let's go into some of our favorite quotes before we go into some feedback

[01:19:46] and i have a couple um there's one i don't know if you picked up on it but and when a cofo says

[01:19:52] congratulations you both just met a cool person uh yeah that's a Ted Lasso line yeah

[01:19:58] that's what Ted says to Trent Grimm when they're in the uh they're in the indian restaurant

[01:20:05] when he goes to his cab driver's dad's indian restaurant i love that scene i got to go back and

[01:20:12] i got to go back and watch that scene because

[01:20:15] Ted is just so miserable throughout that whole meal and never lets

[01:20:21] that guy know it yeah i think that he won Trent over in that in that meal

[01:20:27] oh yeah i'm pretty sure that's the moment yep um i just saw cat hair just go like

[01:20:34] swinging by your your screen yeah just floated down that happens he's the cat gentleman everybody um

[01:20:44] Ted yeah guess who's going to be featured in vanity fairs business issue as a powerful woman on

[01:20:49] their eyes i finally got it this is incredible Ted yeah not you keely oh that makes more sense

[01:20:56] that's really great yeah it's a good one i love Ted i a lot of this episode though felt so

[01:21:03] forced to me because that was even kind of forced you think you mean the fact that she got the

[01:21:10] vanity fair cover or Ted's reaction to it Ted's reaction just i don't know there was something

[01:21:16] that felt forced about this episode for to me just to me um your eyebrows aren't crazy thank you

[01:21:25] there's their psychotic i love i appreciate that yeah but just the fact that roya appreciates the

[01:21:32] honesty yeah he's like i appreciate that i don't know i think that roya can't would also want

[01:21:36] psychotic eyebrows yeah um let's see um

[01:21:47] um oh i this is like more uh this was one from miss bowin

[01:21:56] roya says we sees all the wine on the table and he's like i always thought this is what

[01:22:00] teachers did when we went home yeah and she says art fundraiser tonight for 20 quid you can buy

[01:22:05] a kid's art for 40 i'll send it home with you already in the rubbish bin in 10 roya that's the

[01:22:11] solid business model i love it but um Phoebe just drew a bunch of boobs yeah she's very accurate

[01:22:20] very accurate charcoal drawings of Ted's um miss bowlegs miss boring miss bonehead miss

[01:22:29] Bennett uh miss bendo and body make boat face and then there's one little boy who simply

[01:22:35] cost me fuck which which is admittedly my favorite yeah uh and then the only other one i have

[01:22:42] is being the mean teacher is not fun and then the only other one i have is don't listen to me

[01:22:49] don't listen to edwin akufo don't listen to sam you just listen to your gut okay and on the way

[01:22:55] down your gut check in with your heart between those two things they'll let you know what's what

[01:23:00] they make good harmony like two thought like two thirds of bone thugs in harmony you know what i

[01:23:04] mean that's good advice too it's really good advice yeah listen to your gut but on the way down

[01:23:11] listen to your heart checking with your heart yeah it's i'm gonna actually probably put that on my

[01:23:18] board in my classroom this week that's good advice it's really good advice and my uh my teacher friend

[01:23:24] uh my teacher friend she has her own Ted lasso quote on her board that says be curious not judgmental

[01:23:33] i'll tell you i want that as a tattoo that's like i might get that as a tattoo do it um any quotes

[01:23:40] from from your end i know i kind of stole no you said them all okay yeah all right so then with

[01:23:46] that being said let's dive into some feedback in which we got a couple facebook posts and a couple

[01:23:52] more voice mails to play so i'm gonna turn it over to you first okay uh to give us the Facebook

[01:23:58] feedback that we got all right we have two i'll read both okay because it's international women's day

[01:24:05] this past week it's uh women's month right now so we have two ladies in uh feedback and it's going

[01:24:12] to be read by a lady there you go i'm okay with this uh Megan layman says i think i wanted to punch

[01:24:19] this guy even more than rupert one of the few people on the show that can never be and was never

[01:24:25] redeemed also thanks for the explanation of Rebecca's marriage timeline last week you clarified a lot

[01:24:32] oh what do you know uh Lindsey Schlitt hello Lindsey glad to see you back uh my inbox um i'm glad i've

[01:24:41] only watched this once as i can't remember how Ted ends up handling being exposed for his mental

[01:24:46] health it's Ted so i'm assuming he does it with grace doesn't change how much i hate Nate word

[01:24:53] stupid little shit with his mirror spitting makes me wish this was a different type of show where

[01:24:58] he could have a brutal ending like game of throne style yeah i was thinking say thank if i was keely

[01:25:06] i need to bleach my mouth i love Rebecca and i understand her reasons but i didn't love her making

[01:25:13] Sam's decision more difficult she'd already broken up with him at this point she should not have

[01:25:18] added herself into his decision that scene with Roy and keely was very sad but a bit confusing

[01:25:24] it felt a little out of left feel to have such a strong relationship fizzle out so quickly and

[01:25:29] easily sad we're losing dr. Sharon too so many endings this episode it is a hard one Lindsey you and i

[01:25:36] have very similar thoughts on so many things and i really hope you appreciated what i said earlier

[01:25:43] about rohen keely because i totally agree with you yeah you guys were pretty much on the same page

[01:25:49] with that one mm-hmm so and i get that um i guess that i'm glad you spoke up about that because

[01:25:55] that was a great point of view to see it all from and it kind of changed the way i looked at it too

[01:26:00] good thank you you're welcome thank you uh so let's switch into voice mails for the feedback and

[01:26:07] we're gonna more we're going to go a Greg one uh this goes back to man city so like i said we're

[01:26:13] gonna we're gonna play we're gonna play catch up slightly we're only gonna play one of his voice

[01:26:17] melt well too because we're gonna play the one for this episode too um but this is his feedback from

[01:26:23] man city a couple episodes ago hello back again this is Greg all right man city uh so the podcast was

[01:26:31] great i loved it i thought it was fantastic uh and uh i just wanted to point out a couple of

[01:26:37] things that i noticed that i don't remember you guys bringing up i will just say that brin and hunts

[01:26:42] physical comedy uh is practically unparalleled when he turns and that falls over the uh the the fence

[01:26:55] and then pops back up it was very Andy Dwyer and it was amazing yeah we didn't break that um

[01:27:01] it was uh you know this is another tough watch for for anybody and Jamie is absolutely right

[01:27:10] his dad is a dick and in every situation he just does what a dick would do going into a visiting

[01:27:17] team locker room to rub it not only in your son's face but in the visiting team's face uh that

[01:27:24] they lost you know that godly he just he just did what a dick would do he's like you know

[01:27:30] philly fans oh no fence oh no fence no fence boy no fence uh anyway uh all right uh gonna hop

[01:27:39] on to beard after hours and see you guys in a bit but damn Greg you went there it's true

[01:27:46] Greg i'm not playing the rest of your feedback next week oh my gosh i'm just gonna throw

[01:27:50] it we are we are true we are the worst we are the worst your worst and Oakland fans and Oakland

[01:27:56] fans are terrible hold on i mean kind of rephrase this a little bit let me come do a little bit of

[01:28:02] defense here no Eagles fans are the worst who booze their own quarterback Philly fans were okay

[01:28:12] we're bad we're not the worst i mean we did pelt snowballs at Santa but

[01:28:20] no that was no in a football game never mind i take back what i said Philly fans are okay

[01:28:24] okay Eagles fans are the worst oh my goodness gracious shots fired Greg shots fired that was

[01:28:32] hilarious and true and accurate and i fully support you Greg so i honestly i don't know if it

[01:28:38] came over but i dropped my pen when you said that it's hilarious i literally dropped my pen on my

[01:28:43] desk that was hilarious anyway thank you Greg um let's stick with Greg and now we'll go into our

[01:28:52] feedback for uh for midnight train of boiden and let's play great feedback for that now good

[01:28:59] morning revisit guest this is Greg and i am finally caught up with where you guys are are at

[01:29:07] with midnight train to roiston all right so i am good i've made notes and stuff so i'm just

[01:29:13] gonna go through and uh appreciate the things that i either noticed or didn't notice on the first

[01:29:19] couple watches uh so the uh the the in sync uh bye bye bye um thing if it's got to be me

[01:29:27] beard's response if it's got to be me i was like oh man that's that's good didn't notice it until now

[01:29:33] gonna be uh same Richardson uh this is the first uh show that i've ever seen him in or i had

[01:29:39] ever seen him in so now every time i watch the after party or every time i watch anything else

[01:29:44] and i see him in it i am surprised that he doesn't have an african accent and it's let me

[01:29:51] and he is just so phenomenal in this episode um so the uh roi and miss bowin like this entire sequence

[01:30:01] was just it was it was difficult to to watch uh just because you know you know what roi is and

[01:30:11] in a different situation maybe a hope that the two you know fuck which and roi would connect

[01:30:22] a good tip always make sure that your phone calls are ended i thought that was a really

[01:30:26] funny thing to throw in because i mean i've been there uh and then you know tied with his cheers

[01:30:31] reference of course sam and reka is the all-time favorite couples uh nates suit the plant suit

[01:30:39] is fucking horrible like it looked like something that uh uh one of those people from college

[01:30:49] game day would wear like yes i don't know if it was it dick vatal or i don't one of those one of

[01:30:55] those announcers or commentators or whatever would would wear these horrific suits i just like i do

[01:31:00] not understand that's fucking fashion sense it's too small uh shopping in a place where rich twats are

[01:31:07] you know are pissing away their money like yep never want to go to a place like that because

[01:31:12] i would walk out as i saw the prices uh higgins and or rather tom tom ted and his incorporation into his

[01:31:22] his every facet of himself going into the organization don't let her get away with it ted uh

[01:31:29] there was amazing it was absolutely amazing in the fact that he knew exactly what ted needed to come

[01:31:35] back and then grab it uh a little bit of a callback actually just to last episode keely fixing nates

[01:31:41] tie uh when he comes out with the suit on it uh keely is so amazing when Nate kisses her

[01:31:49] as she just rolls with it and she's like not awkward about she's like hey it happens to the best

[01:31:53] of us maybe she's been in the situation before she has been a model she's been in social

[01:31:58] situations with rich twats uh and like maybe these things just happened to her and for Nate is a

[01:32:07] mind numbingly embarrassing situation so you see the tear in his you know rolling down his face when

[01:32:13] he spits in the in the mirror to i mean he leaves it there which like you guys said before

[01:32:18] it's gross uh but he's obviously going through this self-loathing um and then the the ted

[01:32:26] Sharon goodbye scene with the letter where he reads the letter and his face changes and it's just

[01:32:32] like you just like you can imagine the fact that they tossed in the word favorite you know

[01:32:37] you spelled favorite wrong so you kind of think to yourself well this has become my favorite place

[01:32:43] you know my favorite job or my favorite location um that's my guess anyway um

[01:32:48] um so uh then before the confessions uh keely and roy they look kind of loving um afterwards

[01:32:58] it looked they looked like Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson at the end of love actually where

[01:33:02] they're just like staring at the camera and it was very very awkward uh and then all right back

[01:33:08] to callbacks and i love the fact that they never call them out they're just callbacks uh

[01:33:14] Collins Lamborghini callback where it's way too much car for him

[01:33:19] Henry a good thing in Abe Lincoln yep he has again tested that has again infected

[01:33:25] infected his son with the best or worse you had pending on your your viewpoint uh parts of him

[01:33:32] at his rhyming salutations uh when akufu introduces sam and uh and banksy uh oh you just met

[01:33:42] you both just met a cool person callback to the episode where Ted and uh introduces Trent and his

[01:33:49] cab driver um and then uh keely you are keely fucking jones the independent woman going back

[01:33:57] to uh her interview of roy when roy first asked her out on a date and then it's a constant goodbye

[01:34:04] contact calm callback but the toy soldiers with with which i mean it's not so much a callback

[01:34:09] but just like calling car i forgot to mention it and i want to address something in particular

[01:34:16] at the end after Trent texts after you read the whole of the text the opening lines or the opening

[01:34:23] notes to karma police literally made tears pop out of my eyes i've talked about the quality

[01:34:31] of the writing the use of music in this show has no business evoking the emotion that does

[01:34:38] that broke the dam that all of the tension in the episode had created and it was like this is such

[01:34:46] an amazing and emotional episode and i am sorry that i went fucking six minutes Jesus fucking

[01:34:52] christ alright i'm cutting it off now look for the podcast i know what i love about gregg

[01:35:00] is that it doesn't feel like six minutes no i don't think he's talking he is so engaging

[01:35:05] his voice is so soothing and i genuinely i've only met gregg one time i genuinely like him

[01:35:13] like i felt like he was my friend after one meeting with the guy um that says a lot about somebody

[01:35:22] else that says a lot about the person yeah where it's how i felt about you after we first met

[01:35:29] well we bonded over a friend's line too well yeah we were we felt that way even before that

[01:35:35] that just solidified it right but i like just my one meeting that i had with gregg

[01:35:41] i felt like i could talk to him about real subjects not just like getting to know you small talk

[01:35:46] he felt warm and genuine in the way that he spoke to me and to everybody else

[01:35:53] i just really really really really really like gregg i just think he's a good good dude

[01:35:59] i'm one hundred percent with you um but going to some of the points that he made too i

[01:36:04] i said the same thing about karma police and the usage that salt use of that song

[01:36:08] you know at the door in the end of it it was it was a perfect fit for a song

[01:36:12] the army man in the beer i forgot to bring that off whoops because i have something

[01:36:20] in spoilers to talk about about that too and now i can't because we're already past it

[01:36:24] well let's talk about it next week all right was it the kind of army dude he used

[01:36:29] no it's where i didn't notice

[01:36:33] it's where we will see that army man again okay we'll talk about it

[01:36:38] in spoilers next week all right i'm making a note army man okay um next week what

[01:36:45] did i write army why did i write army man i'm so stupid

[01:36:49] spit um yeah but thank you for that Greg yeah it doesn't feel like five minutes at all six not at all

[01:36:59] all right but we do have a couple more to go through before we wrap things up so we have a

[01:37:04] voicemail from uh Jason from san Jose so let's go ahead and play that now

[01:37:09] hi ben and christian this is Jason and san Jose leaving feedback for midnight train de roiston

[01:37:15] last week i totally missed the deadline for no weddings in a funeral

[01:37:20] and i did want to comment that i had just been to the funeral for my first cousin once removed

[01:37:27] she was 27 when she passed and that episode was really really touching the service that i went to

[01:37:33] was much more of a celebration of life and so the comments about it's weird having to be sad at a

[01:37:40] party uh really came to mind so during this ceremony there were a lot of tears but a lot of laughter

[01:37:46] as well as we look back and had some fun memories to share but i was really glad to be with family

[01:37:53] and to be there for each other onto this week's episode and once again i really love the dynamics

[01:38:00] with Ted and Sharon and the whole in sync thing uh that dance routine was awesome

[01:38:08] but yeah i really loved watching jason sadekis's facial expressions as he was reading

[01:38:14] Sharon's letter and just the subtlety in in acting it was absolutely amazing

[01:38:21] recently i've been talking about this podcast with one of my friends and he turned me onto a youtube

[01:38:28] channel where a therapist was talking about various aspects of ted lasso and i watched a couple

[01:38:35] of those videos and they really come to play in this episode the first one that i watched was on

[01:38:40] positive masculinity and part of it was talking about roi and keelie's relationship and just the

[01:38:47] ability to talk about feelings and to work through problems and during the photo shoot being able

[01:38:54] to see them exchange their secrets and recognize the awkwardness of it and it was so interesting

[01:39:01] to see their facial expressions as they turned back to the camera after that awkward moment when

[01:39:08] keelie said the secret about jamey's love for her the other video that i had watched was about

[01:39:14] Nate and his descent in the season the whole thing spitting on the mirror that internalized hatred for

[01:39:22] himself and something that i had thought about recently with Nate is looking at the progression

[01:39:28] of the greenness in his hair over the season but yeah this episode had a number of things

[01:39:34] pointing towards Nate's descent i'd probably a few other things that i could talk about but i am

[01:39:41] running out of time and want to get this one in before the deadline for this week oh yeah happy

[01:39:47] birthday to chuck norris charen stone and and asama bin laden being that it's march 10th as this is

[01:39:54] being recorded so anyway with that i'm really really looking forward to the finale of season two

[01:40:01] until then this has been jason in sanose namaste bebe i forgot about the birthdays and that's the

[01:40:10] day we're recording was march 10th do you also finally something lined up because we couldn't line

[01:40:16] up Christmas i know but do you know what is it today so it's at march 10th i think it was i think that

[01:40:24] there was some kind of Freudian thing that happened here but it's Olivia wildes birthday oh

[01:40:31] oh so yeah maybe but it but it's also osama bin laden's birthday like

[01:40:39] yeah and chuck norris something that is that something that we needed to know chuck norris doesn't

[01:40:44] celebrate birthdays birthday celebrate chuck norris oh chuck

[01:40:53] jason thank you for the first off for sharing talking to your friends about the podcast that we

[01:40:58] appreciate anybody who shares it and talks to other people but if you don't mind do me a favor

[01:41:02] and message me on the facebook page links to those videos oh my gosh i have that written down here

[01:41:08] i haven't written down what is the name of this that channel yeah because i'm doing you say the name

[01:41:13] of it i want to know i'd be very curious to see those videos that talk about there from a therapist

[01:41:18] point of view i would love to watch that that's the kind of that's the kind of youtube series i could

[01:41:24] sink my teeth into yeah it would get me away from nibb's gaming and mr beast for a while

[01:41:28] i gotta tell you i think youtube is a cesspool of just nothing and videos of people's cars getting

[01:41:34] towed and body cam videos i'm so tired of people that think that they're going to be famous by how

[01:41:40] stupid they are but yeah do me a favor and message that so i can pass them on the so christine and

[01:41:46] i can check those out kiss please uh and last we have a voicemail no voicemail from steve because he is

[01:41:53] on a great vacation to New Zealand right now i know i'm so jealous so jealous but i've been

[01:42:01] following along with this post that he's having a great time on this cruise in New Zealand so he

[01:42:06] only sent me one picture and that was of him and and one and that was enough there you go

[01:42:12] but the our last feedback comes from comes from Alex so here we go and let's play that now

[01:42:19] hey all Alex Kruger here leaving feedback for ted lasso season two episode midnight train to roistown

[01:42:25] this episode marks the final descent of Nate in three simple steps first he openly displays his

[01:42:31] need to power grub and how he looks so down on everyone that he assumed ted would actively steal credit

[01:42:37] for the false nine after that he misinterprets keelie's confiding in a friend someone she sees very

[01:42:43] much as an equal and someone that deserves to be prepped up by his friends and not only violates

[01:42:47] her sense of security with him by kissing her but also shows his his disrespected brown boundaries

[01:42:53] with his friend slash coworker roe by violating the monogamy of their relationship and finally

[01:42:58] as if that wasn't bad enough and I assure you it was but just for good measure he then

[01:43:04] outs Ted's secret to Ted Trent Krem and abuses any last shred of self respect edwin is such a wolf

[01:43:11] in sheep's clothing he comes off all eccentric at first with his landing the helicopter on the

[01:43:15] pitch and having a personal assistant do his handshaking but what I don't get is he doesn't want

[01:43:20] billionaires to exist but he has no problem wasting money on hiring actors to fill a gallery

[01:43:25] we're using as well to buy a football club how exactly you change in the world through football

[01:43:30] of all the things you can do with one point two billion dollars soccer isn't the one that's going

[01:43:35] to move the needle on important issues also in what universe is all the time in the world only 72

[01:43:40] hours and I really can't stand how he uses Ted's you both just met a cool person line it's a total

[01:43:47] misdirect now allow me a moment to put on my odd bed in a deer hat for a second but I love when

[01:43:53] Sam says one of the museum actors looks familiar from I may destroy you I guess he never knows

[01:43:58] dr. Sharon from that show since she played officer food me on it now I have to admit I smiled

[01:44:04] a little extra hard this time around when dr. Sharon quotes good well hunting with her son of a

[01:44:09] bitch stole my mood because I have to assume it made Ben smile a bit to see mr. Williams get the

[01:44:14] knot there uh this week in my workplace nitpick section I'm going to give Ted the mark because even

[01:44:20] if you're closing your laptop when the boss comes in as a sign of respect and showing that they

[01:44:23] have your full attention close to laptop the whole way my man it's a MacBook they're super easy

[01:44:29] to reopen and load up last but not least we all know I love the music on this show in this week sound

[01:44:35] track moment belongs to the ever so perfect haunting voice of Tom York belting out radio heads

[01:44:41] karma police after that text exchange with Trent crimp it's such an under appreciated song from

[01:44:46] their catalog and like any bill Lauren show the song fit the moment perfectly that's it for me folks one

[01:44:52] more episode left in season two so excited keep up the great work and as always jack is the worst thank

[01:45:01] your Alex yeah he's going through his lost street lost watch right now and he's going back and

[01:45:05] listening to all the episodes of the podcast how much all of my jacket it's so funny because

[01:45:13] Adam sits next to me during uh the shows my son he's 10 he's almost 11 and he just hates jack so

[01:45:20] much every single time jack even shows up he's like wow this guy again like he just hates and

[01:45:26] I'm like that's my boy i love that Alex knew that I would love the Robin the Robin Williams nod

[01:45:32] with good will hunting yeah um here and he knows me well enough from listening to will helm

[01:45:38] and um another call out to karma police like i'm glad other people picked up on that too because

[01:45:44] it's such a great use of that song um and Alex did actually he did reach out through the email um

[01:45:50] he said he actually did give us an episode he wants to come on for next season oh cool

[01:45:55] so we're definitely going to work to try and make that happen uh as well as maybe bring on

[01:45:59] a couple other people for for season three as well and we have to start talking about our next show

[01:46:05] because we only have well we still got a little bit of time but we got to figure it out so i'm

[01:46:10] going to say to anybody if you have recommendations for a show you'd like to hear us talk about

[01:46:13] you can let us know through feedback or if you want to leave us feedback for this for the next episode

[01:46:19] or previous episodes as Greg has been doing easiest way to do that uh just go to revisited pod.com

[01:46:24] there you can find links somewhere to subscribe and listen all that fun stuff or just reach out

[01:46:30] personally at feedback at will yeah not will home wrong podcast feedback at revisited pod.com

[01:46:40] before we get out recommendations doon part two doon part two last week i hadn't seen it yet

[01:46:46] now i've seen it doon part two highly recommend two thumbs up spectacular movie

[01:46:52] not better than shawl shank well nothing is but very very very better than the first one

[01:47:00] i've heard that a sequel that is better than the first one is very rare

[01:47:05] there's not many not many this is definitely one terminator two godfather part two

[01:47:13] yeah and i think he said the dark night the dark night was better than batman begins yet for sure

[01:47:18] um and i think he said he's already i think vilanoove said he's already working on writing

[01:47:23] oh yeah yeah yeah third one's coming no there there's no way that there isn't a third one like

[01:47:30] well the third one is a different book too right but i'm just saying the way that it ends okay

[01:47:36] it's very much very much begging for a third i can't wait to the both part one and part two are

[01:47:46] stunning gorgeous beautiful movies but this one wow there's

[01:47:52] when they're when they're on the home planet for the harkinins i don't know i don't remember

[01:47:57] what that planet is that home world is called but wow wow that specific like sequence there just
