[00:00.000 --> 00:14.300] Oh, come in. [00:14.300 --> 00:15.300] Morning, boss. [00:15.300 --> 00:17.300] Oh, I did. [00:17.300 --> 00:18.300] Yikes. [00:18.300 --> 00:21.320] I haven't seen someone that disappointed to see me since I wore a red baseball cap [00:21.320 --> 00:23.560] to a Planned Parenthood fundraiser. [00:23.560 --> 00:24.560] Sorry, Ted. [00:24.560 --> 00:25.560] You're right. [00:25.560 --> 00:27.720] I was just hoping you would keep me. [00:27.720 --> 00:28.720] That's okay. [00:28.720 --> 00:29.720] That was Keeley three, four times a day. [00:29.720 --> 00:30.720] There you go. [00:30.720 --> 00:31.720] Thank you. [00:31.720 --> 00:34.520] I mean, yes, you got a fever for the flavor of the little girl talk, don't you? [00:34.520 --> 00:35.520] Well, shoot. [00:35.520 --> 00:36.920] Why don't you let me take a crack at it. [00:36.920 --> 00:37.920] Ready? [00:37.920 --> 00:38.920] Yeah, why not? [00:38.920 --> 00:39.920] Oh. [00:39.920 --> 00:40.920] Okay. [00:40.920 --> 00:41.920] What the hell? [00:41.920 --> 00:42.920] So, this chap I've been seeing. [00:42.920 --> 00:43.920] John? [00:43.920 --> 00:44.920] Stay most? [00:44.920 --> 00:45.920] No. [00:45.920 --> 00:47.920] His name's John Wingsnights, but that's not the point. [00:47.920 --> 00:48.920] Well, hold on a second. [00:48.920 --> 00:49.920] His name's John Wingsnights. [00:49.920 --> 00:50.920] Yes. [00:50.920 --> 00:53.920] Like at a sports bar like Monday nights, Wingsnights, down at PJ Flats like that. [00:53.920 --> 00:56.000] Ted, would you please stop? [00:56.000 --> 00:57.000] Rule number one. [00:57.000 --> 00:58.600] You know, it's called girl talk. [00:58.600 --> 01:00.000] Sometimes it needs to be more like girl. [01:00.000 --> 01:01.000] Listen. [01:01.000 --> 01:02.000] Got it. [01:02.000 --> 01:03.000] Learn all the fly here. [01:03.000 --> 01:04.000] Come on. [01:04.000 --> 01:05.000] Hit me. [01:05.000 --> 01:06.000] Right. [01:06.000 --> 01:07.000] Thank you. [01:07.000 --> 01:08.000] So, John, I mean, he's a wonderful man. [01:08.000 --> 01:10.000] He's very handsome, successful. [01:10.000 --> 01:11.000] Nice. [01:11.000 --> 01:12.000] Not shy. [01:12.000 --> 01:13.000] Mm. [01:13.000 --> 01:14.000] Is he nice to you? [01:14.000 --> 01:15.000] Yes. [01:15.000 --> 01:16.000] Yes, right. [01:16.000 --> 01:17.000] Good. [01:17.000 --> 01:18.000] Yeah, he sounds great. [01:18.000 --> 01:19.000] So, I'm confused. [01:19.000 --> 01:21.000] Is there a problem here or something? [01:21.000 --> 01:25.000] Well, how'd you suppose not? [01:25.000 --> 01:26.000] Okay. [01:26.000 --> 01:27.000] Okay. [01:27.000 --> 01:28.000] Okay. [01:28.000 --> 01:32.800] So, rule number two is sometimes girl talk and just be blabbing away about stuff and nothing [01:32.800 --> 01:35.000] has to really change and no one has to solve anything. [01:35.000 --> 01:36.000] That's exactly right. [01:36.000 --> 01:37.000] I love it. [01:37.000 --> 01:38.000] Let's keep going. [01:56.000 --> 02:12.000] Welcome to another episode of the revisited podcast. [02:12.000 --> 02:14.000] I'm Ben. [02:14.000 --> 02:15.520] And I'm Kristin. [02:15.520 --> 02:21.120] This week we are covering Ted Lasso season two, episode one. [02:21.120 --> 02:23.120] Goodbye Earl. [02:23.120 --> 02:25.000] Diving into season two. [02:25.000 --> 02:26.000] All right. [02:26.000 --> 02:27.000] Yay. [02:27.000 --> 02:34.000] I say already, but I mean, it's been 11 weeks and 10 episodes. [02:34.000 --> 02:36.000] Yeah, 10 episodes. [02:36.000 --> 02:37.000] Yeah. [02:37.000 --> 02:38.000] Very good. [02:38.000 --> 02:39.000] We're very good. [02:39.000 --> 02:40.000] We're good. [02:40.000 --> 02:41.000] We're a good job. [02:41.000 --> 02:42.000] Compared to lost. [02:42.000 --> 02:45.000] Yeah, you know, where we missed like an entire like five years. [02:45.000 --> 02:46.000] Okay. [02:46.000 --> 02:49.000] Well, you know, let's just not let look. [02:49.000 --> 02:51.000] COVID was interesting. [02:51.000 --> 02:52.000] Yeah, I know. [02:53.000 --> 02:56.000] We've made our excuses for the time we missed. [02:56.000 --> 02:57.000] Yes. [02:57.000 --> 03:01.000] During lost as weak as they may be. [03:01.000 --> 03:03.000] As as phoned in as possible. [03:03.000 --> 03:04.000] Yes. [03:04.000 --> 03:05.000] Very good. [03:05.000 --> 03:06.000] We made our excuses. [03:06.000 --> 03:08.000] I am so excited. [03:08.000 --> 03:12.000] We're in season two because that means that old Rebecca is gone. [03:12.000 --> 03:16.000] And we can just get into the meat of the show. [03:16.000 --> 03:17.000] We know these characters. [03:17.000 --> 03:18.000] We love these characters. [03:18.000 --> 03:23.000] And now we get to see like a continuation of what happens after they get relegated. [03:23.000 --> 03:26.000] Well, and season two was great too, because you're right. [03:26.000 --> 03:30.000] Season one, we kind of get the establishment of the main characters. [03:30.000 --> 03:31.000] We've got Ted. [03:31.000 --> 03:32.000] We've got Rebecca. [03:32.000 --> 03:33.000] We've got Roy. [03:33.000 --> 03:35.000] We've got Keeley. [03:35.000 --> 03:36.000] Beard. [03:36.000 --> 03:39.000] And be well, Beard's a mystery throughout the entire run. [03:39.000 --> 03:40.000] Yeah. [03:40.000 --> 03:41.000] Okay. [03:41.000 --> 03:42.000] But but he's still you're right. [03:42.000 --> 03:44.000] He's still an established character. [03:45.000 --> 03:52.000] Season two is now where we start to focus on characters like Sam, Colin, Isaac. [03:52.000 --> 03:55.000] There's more from Higgins. [03:55.000 --> 03:56.000] Nate. [03:56.000 --> 03:57.000] Oh my God. [03:57.000 --> 03:58.000] There's a huge season. [03:58.000 --> 04:00.000] There's a huge Nate season. [04:00.000 --> 04:01.000] Yep. [04:01.000 --> 04:05.000] You know, Jamie Tartt, another big big season for Jamie Tartt as well. [04:05.000 --> 04:10.000] And season one was big for Jamie as well, but season two is even bigger for Jamie. [04:11.000 --> 04:14.000] There's a lot of changes coming to Jamie in season two. [04:14.000 --> 04:17.000] A lot of changes coming for everybody in season two. [04:17.000 --> 04:21.000] I would say. [04:21.000 --> 04:22.000] Yeah. [04:22.000 --> 04:27.000] But yeah, but I mean, like even in addition to some of the other characters that I met, [04:27.000 --> 04:31.000] we meet some new ones, a couple of which we meet in this episode. [04:31.000 --> 04:32.000] Dr. Sharon. [04:32.000 --> 04:35.000] Dr. Sharon Fieldstone is one of them. [04:35.000 --> 04:37.000] Don't you dare call her Doc. [04:38.000 --> 04:41.000] Or Sharon. [04:41.000 --> 04:46.000] But I mean, there's other characters who get progressive in their story as well. [04:46.000 --> 04:49.000] Trent Krim gets a little bit more this season. [04:49.000 --> 04:52.000] I just, you say his name and I smile. [04:52.000 --> 04:53.000] I love Trent. [04:53.000 --> 04:54.000] Trent Krim. [04:54.000 --> 04:55.000] The independent. [04:55.000 --> 04:59.000] You're from where the daily planet, I believe? [04:59.000 --> 05:04.000] I love that we also get introduced to a new player named Jan. [05:05.000 --> 05:08.000] We meet in this guy. [05:08.000 --> 05:13.000] So we've mentioned two of the three characters that we meet in this episode. [05:13.000 --> 05:15.000] There's a third new one. [05:15.000 --> 05:18.000] We meet Miss Bowen for the first time in this episode. [05:18.000 --> 05:19.000] Oh, yes. [05:19.000 --> 05:20.000] That's right. [05:20.000 --> 05:21.000] It's very quick. [05:21.000 --> 05:28.000] But we do meet Miss Bowen who we will see a couple of times throughout. [05:29.000 --> 05:31.000] Throughout season two. [05:31.000 --> 05:36.000] And in season three, we're going to, she's going to be a reoccurring character through both. [05:36.000 --> 05:43.000] Her story ties in primarily with Roy, but it's because obviously because she's Phoebe school [05:43.000 --> 05:47.000] teacher, but she's going to, she's going to be a reoccurring for the rest of the series, [05:47.000 --> 05:48.000] which is nice. [05:48.000 --> 05:49.000] Yes. [05:49.000 --> 05:50.000] She's wonderful. [05:50.000 --> 05:54.000] So before we dive into it, obviously season one is not season two. [05:54.000 --> 05:55.000] It's not going to change from season one. [05:56.000 --> 06:00.000] We're going to try and remain as spoiler free as possible as we can for those of you that [06:00.000 --> 06:05.000] are watching for the first time, but we will have a spoiler full conversation a little [06:05.000 --> 06:06.000] bit later on. [06:06.000 --> 06:08.000] And man, do I have some stuff to. [06:08.000 --> 06:09.000] Me too. [06:09.000 --> 06:10.000] Yeah. [06:10.000 --> 06:13.000] I have a couple of things to bring up in that section. [06:13.000 --> 06:14.000] But check the show notes. [06:14.000 --> 06:19.000] If you want to skip it and then to know when we, when we talk about that so you can come [06:19.000 --> 06:22.000] back for the quotes and all the other fun stuff at the end. [06:23.000 --> 06:27.000] I haven't had big spoiler sections the past couple of weeks and I feel like I'm making [06:27.000 --> 06:28.000] up for it today. [06:28.000 --> 06:33.000] We haven't had a lot of spoiler stuff because I feel like the ending, like the pen ultimate [06:33.000 --> 06:39.000] and the ultimate episodes of season one were pretty focused on wrapping up the season one [06:39.000 --> 06:40.000] story. [06:40.000 --> 06:41.000] Right. [06:41.000 --> 06:44.000] They weren't kind of looking ahead at the establishment of characters. [06:44.000 --> 06:51.000] They were focusing primarily on AFC Richmond's relegation or whether or not they were going [06:52.000 --> 06:53.000] to do it. [06:53.000 --> 06:55.000] Well, and I think that that has a lot to do with the fact that they probably didn't know [06:55.000 --> 06:57.000] if they would get a second season. [06:57.000 --> 07:02.400] So they have a three season story that they want to tell, but you know, you also have to [07:02.400 --> 07:06.000] reconcile with the fact that your show might not take off the way that you want it to. [07:06.000 --> 07:10.000] And so you need to be able to after heroes. [07:10.000 --> 07:17.000] We all need an ending to the first season if there is going to be one. [07:17.000 --> 07:18.000] You mentioned heroes. [07:18.000 --> 07:19.000] That's a God. [07:19.000 --> 07:20.000] That's a horrible show. [07:20.000 --> 07:25.000] It's a beautiful mini series. [07:25.000 --> 07:30.000] One season mini series. [07:30.000 --> 07:32.000] Yeah, you're probably right. [07:32.000 --> 07:36.000] They were wondering whether or not they were going to get that second season, even though [07:36.000 --> 07:40.000] they had that three season, that three year story to tell. [07:40.000 --> 07:47.000] They wanted to make sure that just in case they wanted to kind of have things wrapped up in [07:48.000 --> 07:51.000] a way that they could end if they had to. [07:51.000 --> 07:52.000] Right. [07:52.000 --> 07:53.000] Thank God they didn't. [07:53.000 --> 07:54.000] But now that, oh, me too. [07:54.000 --> 07:55.000] Yeah, agreed. [07:55.000 --> 07:59.000] But now that they're in the season two, we kind of have some more stuff to talk about in [07:59.000 --> 08:05.000] spoilers because there's been new seeds planted for this season. [08:05.000 --> 08:06.000] Right. [08:06.000 --> 08:07.000] Into season three. [08:07.000 --> 08:08.000] Yeah. [08:08.000 --> 08:12.000] This is a beautiful premiere episode for a new season. [08:12.000 --> 08:19.000] I think that they do a really good job for establishing what the season is going to be. [08:19.000 --> 08:25.000] They do a really good job of bringing us in after a small time jump. [08:25.000 --> 08:32.000] And they still manage to keep the wholesome, heartfelt, wonderfulness of the show. [08:32.000 --> 08:39.000] You know, it just, it proves once again how smartly written this show is. [08:39.000 --> 08:40.000] Yeah. [08:41.000 --> 08:45.000] I'm very appreciative of the fact too that when they bring us in in the beginning of this season [08:45.000 --> 08:48.000] too, they're not bringing us at the start of the season. [08:48.000 --> 08:51.000] We're kind of already, the season's already in motion. [08:51.000 --> 08:52.000] Seven games in. [08:52.000 --> 08:53.000] Yeah. [08:53.000 --> 08:58.000] They're already working towards getting promoted back to the premiere league, you know, especially [08:58.000 --> 09:03.000] after the way season one ended with Ted saying, like, come back and win the whole fucking thing. [09:03.000 --> 09:04.000] Right. [09:04.000 --> 09:09.000] And we're seeing that's the goal and they're not losing. [09:09.000 --> 09:11.000] But they're also not winning. [09:11.000 --> 09:16.000] But they're playing well despite the fact that Roy Kent isn't playing anymore and Jamie Tarte [09:16.000 --> 09:18.000] isn't playing anymore. [09:18.000 --> 09:20.000] They've lost two of their major players. [09:20.000 --> 09:21.000] Yeah. [09:21.000 --> 09:22.000] Right. [09:22.000 --> 09:23.000] Exactly. [09:23.000 --> 09:24.000] So they're not losing. [09:24.000 --> 09:26.000] They're not winning. [09:26.000 --> 09:30.000] But they're proving that they're still a solid team. [09:30.000 --> 09:31.000] Yes. [09:31.000 --> 09:32.000] Absolutely. [09:32.000 --> 09:34.000] Well, it's even mentioned too. [09:34.000 --> 09:38.000] Like even Nate says it at one point in the episode, he says the team's playing well. [09:38.000 --> 09:39.000] They're just unlucky. [09:39.000 --> 09:42.000] They're the New York Jets. [09:42.000 --> 09:46.000] I have that in my, I have that in my quotes too. [09:46.000 --> 09:51.000] Because it's such a nice burn, especially coming from two guys from Kansas City. [09:51.000 --> 09:53.000] The Jets are never good. [09:53.000 --> 09:54.000] Sorry. [09:54.000 --> 09:58.000] Back home if a team was playing poorly, we don't call them unlucky. [09:58.000 --> 09:59.000] What do we call them, coach? [09:59.000 --> 10:00.000] The New York Jets. [10:00.000 --> 10:02.000] Such a burn. [10:02.000 --> 10:03.000] I love that. [10:03.000 --> 10:05.000] It's a burn for anybody who's a football fan. [10:05.000 --> 10:06.000] Yep. [10:06.000 --> 10:07.000] Even New York Jets fans. [10:08.000 --> 10:09.000] Yeah. [10:09.000 --> 10:12.000] So, you know, we get to the opening of this episode. [10:12.000 --> 10:15.000] They're already into their game seven, the seventh game of the season. [10:15.000 --> 10:18.000] When something rather unfortunate half. [10:18.000 --> 10:22.000] It is fucking tragic, man. [10:22.000 --> 10:27.000] It is just the worst thing that could like if it killed the bird. [10:27.000 --> 10:28.000] Okay. [10:28.000 --> 10:29.000] The freak accident. [10:29.000 --> 10:34.000] It'll go viral for a bird kill a random bird killing killed dog. [10:34.000 --> 10:35.000] Okay. [10:36.000 --> 10:43.000] And how violent is Danny Rojas's kick that he kills the dog? [10:43.000 --> 10:44.000] I know. [10:44.000 --> 10:49.000] Well, I mean, it could also be a combination of, because it happens mid-air. [10:49.000 --> 10:54.000] So it could be a combination of the dog, the dog falls. [10:54.000 --> 10:59.000] You know, it could have been the fall after being hit by the ball that killed him. [10:59.000 --> 11:02.000] Regardless, Earl Greyhound is killed. [11:03.000 --> 11:06.000] What a beautiful name for a dog. [11:06.000 --> 11:07.000] Earl Greyhound. [11:07.000 --> 11:08.000] I know. [11:08.000 --> 11:09.000] I love it. [11:09.000 --> 11:12.000] It's so, it's so British. [11:12.000 --> 11:13.000] It is. [11:13.000 --> 11:14.000] It's so British. [11:14.000 --> 11:15.000] And I love it. [11:15.000 --> 11:16.000] Well, okay. [11:16.000 --> 11:19.000] So Barking Ham Palace is also beautifully named too. [11:19.000 --> 11:22.000] I mean, just, there's little, little things like that. [11:22.000 --> 11:25.000] Just remind you how smart this show is. [11:25.000 --> 11:26.000] Yeah. [11:26.000 --> 11:29.000] You know, but yeah, poor, poor Danny Rojas. [11:29.000 --> 11:31.000] I'm washing the death off of me. [11:32.000 --> 11:37.000] You might want to try some soap. [11:37.000 --> 11:44.000] It gets that eternal damnation out of the, out of the hard to reach spots. [11:44.000 --> 11:45.000] Leave it to Ted. [11:45.000 --> 11:49.000] Like, I mean, and it's weird too, because like you're, you're watching in that moment. [11:49.000 --> 11:52.000] Ted really just doesn't know how to react to this. [11:52.000 --> 11:53.000] No, but he does. [11:53.000 --> 11:58.000] No, because this is such a, like, I don't know what the word is. [11:58.000 --> 12:02.000] Like, not uncommon, because that doesn't even explain it. [12:02.000 --> 12:03.000] It's freak occurrence. [12:03.000 --> 12:04.000] Freak occurrence. [12:04.000 --> 12:05.000] That's the best way to put it. [12:05.000 --> 12:06.000] Yeah. [12:06.000 --> 12:07.000] Yeah. [12:07.000 --> 12:09.000] And just, but yeah, Danny kicks that kick. [12:09.000 --> 12:11.000] And it is Danny Rojas. [12:11.000 --> 12:13.000] It's not like somebody else. [12:13.000 --> 12:18.000] Like it's Danny Rojas who, his very soul is linked to the sport. [12:18.000 --> 12:20.000] And he's so positive and wonderful. [12:20.000 --> 12:25.000] And he's just like, he is the epitome of a human hug in personality form. [12:25.000 --> 12:31.000] And you know that of all the players, this is going to destroy him the most. [12:31.000 --> 12:32.000] Yeah. [12:32.000 --> 12:33.000] Well, I mean, and it does. [12:33.000 --> 12:40.000] Like, he's, you mentioned he's in the shower just in full uniform under the water, letting [12:40.000 --> 12:42.000] the water pour over him. [12:42.000 --> 12:43.000] He's speaking Spanish. [12:43.000 --> 12:45.000] He's doing the cross. [12:45.000 --> 12:48.000] He's doing the Catholic cross over. [12:48.000 --> 12:54.000] And what's, and what's worse about it, too, is that when you watch that scene, [12:54.000 --> 12:59.000] you realize that had not Earl Greyhound jump there, he would have scored. [12:59.000 --> 13:00.000] Yeah. [13:00.000 --> 13:01.000] They would have gotten the win. [13:01.000 --> 13:06.000] The goal was going, the goalie was going the other direction. [13:06.000 --> 13:08.000] That was a goal. [13:08.000 --> 13:10.000] Yeah. [13:10.000 --> 13:15.000] So it would have been nice if that was a goal and they got their first win, but it still didn't matter. [13:15.000 --> 13:17.000] It came with the cost of Earl Greyhound. [13:17.000 --> 13:18.000] At the cost of right. [13:18.000 --> 13:20.000] Exactly. [13:21.000 --> 13:25.000] I'm wondering if in the writer room, they're like, I mean, should we have them win? [13:25.000 --> 13:26.000] Should we have them tie? [13:26.000 --> 13:27.000] Like. [13:27.000 --> 13:33.000] No, I feel like it was actually good that they left it on a tie because it kind of plays into [13:33.000 --> 13:34.000] everything. [13:34.000 --> 13:39.000] You know, that was happening with the team and then struggling to win. [13:39.000 --> 13:40.000] Yeah. [13:40.000 --> 13:41.000] Okay. [13:41.000 --> 13:44.000] Cause I feel like that's, I feel like that's going to break soon. [13:44.000 --> 13:45.000] Oh, yeah. [13:45.000 --> 13:46.000] It does. [13:46.000 --> 13:47.000] It's next episode. [13:47.000 --> 13:48.000] Yeah. [13:51.000 --> 13:52.000] For once I actually did not watch ahead. [13:52.000 --> 13:56.500] I mean, I've already seen episode two a number of times, but I don't remember exactly everything [13:56.500 --> 13:59.000] that's that that's coming from it. [13:59.000 --> 14:01.000] Seven ties in a row. [14:01.000 --> 14:03.000] That's, that's something. [14:03.000 --> 14:06.000] Yeah, it is. [14:06.000 --> 14:09.000] And my echo device is spewing something. [14:09.000 --> 14:10.000] I don't know what it is. [14:10.000 --> 14:11.000] I don't know if you heard it or not. [14:11.000 --> 14:12.000] I did not. [14:12.000 --> 14:13.000] Okay. [14:13.000 --> 14:14.000] Good. [14:14.000 --> 14:17.000] I don't know what it was talking about because I had my headphones on. [14:17.000 --> 14:26.320] But yeah, poor Danny, just, um, but you know, like everything that happens to Danny is done [14:26.320 --> 14:30.000] for the sake of introducing the character that we talked about. [14:30.000 --> 14:31.000] Dr. Sharon. [14:31.000 --> 14:39.680] Dr. Sharon, who very similarly to Rebecca and season one kind of comes across as somebody [14:39.680 --> 14:44.840] you might not like, uh, that changes. [14:44.840 --> 14:48.960] I mean, again, we, we talk about growth of characters and characters that we eventually [14:48.960 --> 14:51.200] like grow and learn to love. [14:51.200 --> 14:53.200] Dr. Sharon is one of them. [14:53.200 --> 14:54.200] Yeah. [14:54.200 --> 15:01.320] And you know, I like rewatching this, knowing the full story only because I'm able to look [15:01.320 --> 15:08.240] at Dr. Sharon in this episode and realize that she has to keep herself objective and removed [15:08.240 --> 15:10.240] from everybody. [15:10.240 --> 15:16.080] And instead of feeling annoyed by her in this episode, like I did the first time I watched, [15:16.080 --> 15:25.240] um, I feel bad for her because it has to be a very lonely life for her because she goes [15:25.240 --> 15:28.920] to these sports teams and she's excellent at what she does. [15:28.920 --> 15:35.840] Um, but she has to maintain a level of professionalism to keep herself objective and helpful to the [15:35.840 --> 15:42.360] teams that she, um, that she helps. [15:42.360 --> 15:49.760] And you know, Ted's confused by it because of his own problems with therapists in general [15:49.760 --> 16:00.680] that we'll get to later, um, but I just, I feel for everybody in this situation, I feel [16:00.680 --> 16:07.520] for Higgins who apparently in this huge state of the art, uh, facility, there is not [16:07.520 --> 16:11.520] one conference room available for him to work out of. [16:11.520 --> 16:15.920] It's another running joke from season one, like he just has no office. [16:15.920 --> 16:20.000] Well, and that there's no conference rooms. [16:20.000 --> 16:21.800] There's not one conference room. [16:21.800 --> 16:22.800] There's a press room. [16:22.800 --> 16:24.360] There's the press room. [16:24.360 --> 16:25.360] That's pretty much it. [16:25.360 --> 16:28.680] There's a beautiful state of the art facility. [16:28.680 --> 16:30.280] There is a, there's a conference room somewhere. [16:30.280 --> 16:31.280] There has to be somewhere. [16:31.280 --> 16:32.280] There has to be. [16:32.280 --> 16:37.480] There has to be a closet he could work out of, you know, and, and, you know, his little [16:37.480 --> 16:44.280] sad box of things with his, with his sad plant, you know, it, it proves just how much he's [16:44.280 --> 16:49.480] not in his office anyways, true, you know, but anyway, I, I'm, I'm getting away from [16:49.480 --> 16:50.480] the point. [16:50.480 --> 16:58.080] Um, I, I love the introduction of Dr. Sharon because you see parts of her personality coming [16:58.080 --> 17:05.160] out, especially when she goes, oh, your, your goal is, or your best is 1,236 bats [17:05.160 --> 17:07.640] or whatever they're called for the ball game. [17:07.640 --> 17:14.440] And she says, impressive, you know, so there's, there is a good personality in there. [17:14.440 --> 17:21.120] It's, is she, okay, see, I, again, that, that's a moment that I've read a little differently. [17:21.120 --> 17:22.120] Oh, okay. [17:22.120 --> 17:25.760] Because it comes off this conversation that she had with Ted about asking Ted if you're [17:25.760 --> 17:27.160] good at your job. [17:27.160 --> 17:31.720] And Ted is legitimately questioning it for the first time because of the attitude that [17:31.720 --> 17:33.720] she is giving Ted. [17:33.720 --> 17:38.400] So when she says like, you know, what's your record? [17:38.400 --> 17:43.240] And you know, Nate says 1,236, she says, oh, impressive. [17:43.240 --> 17:47.480] And then shoots a look as in like you should be managing your time better. [17:47.480 --> 17:49.840] No, no, no, I saw it. [17:49.840 --> 17:50.840] I saw it. [17:50.840 --> 17:52.080] I saw it completely differently. [17:52.080 --> 17:56.840] I saw it as she was saying, that's impressive, you know, that's, that's great. [17:56.840 --> 18:02.120] You know, and I think that that gives us just a little insight into her as a character. [18:02.120 --> 18:07.080] Like she is, she's a very, well, and we learn she's a great character. [18:07.080 --> 18:12.560] But we also know that she says that she is extremely good at her job. [18:12.560 --> 18:15.560] And in this episode, we see just how good she is. [18:15.560 --> 18:21.280] She speaks three languages and she fixes Danny in a matter of probably a day. [18:21.280 --> 18:22.280] Yeah. [18:22.280 --> 18:25.560] Well, and she speaks three languages in this episode alone. [18:25.560 --> 18:32.360] Who knows how many languages she actually knows, because her job is French, yeah. [18:32.360 --> 18:44.040] And, but the thing is, is that she, she is a sports psychologist and she takes that to [18:44.040 --> 18:47.440] heart as in the fact that it is an international sport. [18:47.440 --> 18:51.800] She needs to know these languages, like when she says she's good at her job, she's not [18:51.800 --> 18:53.240] just being arrogant. [18:53.240 --> 18:54.960] She is good at her job. [18:54.960 --> 18:55.960] Yeah. [18:55.960 --> 19:02.840] She can, she can, she can, she can, oh my gosh, what is wrong with me? [19:02.840 --> 19:06.840] She can talk to all of her patients in their language of choice. [19:06.840 --> 19:07.840] That's incredible. [19:07.840 --> 19:08.840] Yeah. [19:08.840 --> 19:09.840] That is incredible. [19:09.840 --> 19:10.840] It's impressive. [19:10.840 --> 19:11.840] Yeah. [19:11.840 --> 19:12.840] It's incredible. [19:12.840 --> 19:13.840] And she is. [19:13.840 --> 19:14.840] You said it. [19:14.840 --> 19:22.120] Like she is an incredibly impressive psychologist, right, for the, for the reasons, you know, which kind [19:22.120 --> 19:25.960] of leads into the whole fact that she is not a one episode character. [19:25.960 --> 19:29.600] She could have very easily been brought in, fixed Annie, and then set on her way. [19:29.600 --> 19:34.800] But she, I mean, it's a bit of a spoiler, but not really, she remains with the team for [19:34.800 --> 19:35.800] a while. [19:35.800 --> 19:36.800] Yeah. [19:36.800 --> 19:37.800] She does. [19:37.800 --> 19:38.800] She stays there. [19:38.800 --> 19:40.480] She sets up an office there and stays there for a bit. [19:40.480 --> 19:42.200] She is not a one and done character. [19:42.200 --> 19:43.800] She keeps Higgins's office. [19:43.800 --> 19:44.800] Let's just do. [19:44.800 --> 19:45.800] Yes. [19:45.800 --> 19:51.480] She is, she is going to be with the team for season two, which I think is wonderful. [19:51.480 --> 19:58.120] And I think that her, her presence on the team while it unnerves Ted ends up being, [19:58.120 --> 20:02.000] you know, a full on blessing for Ted. [20:02.000 --> 20:11.280] Well, it's just, it's, it's just difficult for him to accept her right now. [20:11.280 --> 20:17.160] And we learn, we learn in this episode why he has such a hard time with, with the addition [20:17.160 --> 20:18.840] of Dr. Sharon in the team. [20:18.840 --> 20:19.840] Well, and you're right. [20:19.840 --> 20:24.040] I mean, we can kind of talk a little bit about it now is that like he, he does, he has an [20:24.040 --> 20:25.240] issue with therapists. [20:25.240 --> 20:26.240] It's not jealousy. [20:26.240 --> 20:27.760] Like he, like beard things. [20:27.760 --> 20:29.320] It could be. [20:29.320 --> 20:34.720] And as a viewer, you can kind of see it maybe as that as well from the beginning in that, [20:34.720 --> 20:41.640] like he's jealous somebody else is coming in to kind of coach in a way coach his team and [20:41.640 --> 20:44.240] do something that he's unable to do. [20:44.240 --> 20:47.960] And you could see that as something that could potentially make him jealous. [20:48.680 --> 20:50.720] Well, that's his strength as a coach. [20:50.720 --> 20:53.760] His strength as a coach is that he's good with the players. [20:53.760 --> 20:54.760] Yes. [20:54.760 --> 21:00.160] And for somebody else to come in and also be able to do that, yeah, could make him a little [21:00.160 --> 21:05.480] green with jealousy, but he admits very, but very freely and very clearly at the end that [21:05.480 --> 21:13.480] he is just uncomfortable around therapists, not because, because of his issues with Michelle [21:13.480 --> 21:18.880] and his divorce, he, you know, he says the beer and like, you know, he was when he went [21:18.880 --> 21:23.480] the marriage counseling, you know, when he went to therapy for his marriage, the doctor [21:23.480 --> 21:26.880] that was recommended to it was a doctor that Michelle was already going to. [21:26.880 --> 21:31.400] And he feels he was kind of railroaded a little bit a lot, but a lot bit. [21:31.400 --> 21:36.560] And I think we both have thoughts on this that we will talk about doing spoilers. [21:37.560 --> 21:40.120] Yeah, he's he's not it's not jealousy at all. [21:40.120 --> 21:45.160] He just is uncomfortable around therapists because of his personal experiences. [21:45.160 --> 21:45.480] Yeah. [21:45.480 --> 21:50.160] And I think that that I mean, you know, when you look at it that way and you and you hear [21:50.160 --> 21:57.360] Ted explain that the only other experience that he's had with a therapist smashed his [21:57.360 --> 22:01.120] life to pieces, which is why he's in England. [22:01.800 --> 22:05.160] And now things are going good. [22:05.800 --> 22:07.320] You know, there's a problem. [22:07.480 --> 22:08.720] He can't fix it. [22:09.120 --> 22:13.200] They bring in a therapist and all of a sudden things are getting fixed again. [22:13.400 --> 22:19.920] And he's questioning his role now because his the previous therapist in his life smashed his [22:19.920 --> 22:20.800] life to pieces. [22:20.920 --> 22:23.760] And he's got a really good thing going with his new life here. [22:23.960 --> 22:29.440] And I can totally see how he thinks this woman is going to come in and smash this life to pieces. [22:29.440 --> 22:31.800] Like the last time I'm since. [22:31.800 --> 22:35.080] Yeah, the last time he went to a therapist that cost him his marriage. [22:35.280 --> 22:36.000] Exactly. [22:36.080 --> 22:38.000] This time, could it cost him the team? [22:38.400 --> 22:38.800] Yeah. [22:39.000 --> 22:42.080] And that is a very real, very valid concern. [22:42.120 --> 22:43.640] Yeah, I see it. [22:43.640 --> 22:44.120] Exactly. [22:44.120 --> 22:48.480] I mean, who's to say that, like behind that closed door, he's not being blamed for what's [22:48.480 --> 22:52.440] happening exactly because that's what happened with his marriage. [22:52.560 --> 22:56.880] Yeah, they at least that's how he perceives what happened with his marriage. [22:56.880 --> 22:57.400] Yes. [22:57.600 --> 22:57.920] Yeah. [22:58.200 --> 23:05.200] So it's a legitimate fear that he, but I mean, to to have credit to give Ted credit, he [23:05.200 --> 23:08.160] still says like, yeah, let's do this. [23:08.160 --> 23:10.360] Let's bring in this there as he's shaking his head. [23:10.360 --> 23:10.560] No. [23:13.360 --> 23:14.080] Pretty much. [23:14.520 --> 23:14.640] Yeah. [23:15.640 --> 23:19.120] You know, and the funny thing is, too, like when you know, when you look at all the [23:19.120 --> 23:22.360] characters, you look at Higgins and you look at Nate, they're kind of like, yeah, all right, we're [23:22.360 --> 23:22.840] going to do this. [23:23.280 --> 23:27.520] I think if anybody in that office knows how uncomfortable Ted is, it's beard. [23:27.720 --> 23:29.240] Oh, of course it's beard. [23:29.240 --> 23:29.960] Absolutely. [23:30.080 --> 23:34.840] But then, you know, it's in that conversation with beard later on in the pub that he [23:35.040 --> 23:37.680] says exactly why he is. [23:37.680 --> 23:40.680] He trusts beard with that kind of information. [23:40.680 --> 23:42.120] I mean, he loves the diamond dogs. [23:42.120 --> 23:45.440] He made the diamond dogs, you know, and it's a good sounding board. [23:45.440 --> 23:48.800] But when Ted wants to get real, he goes to beard. [23:49.600 --> 23:52.200] Well, because he knows beard's not going to pull any punches. [23:53.160 --> 23:54.240] Also beard. [23:54.240 --> 24:00.200] Beard is a childhood friend, if I remember correctly. [24:00.280 --> 24:03.120] They've known each other for years and years and years. [24:03.120 --> 24:04.480] I think since high school. [24:04.720 --> 24:05.080] Yeah. [24:05.280 --> 24:05.520] Yeah. [24:05.520 --> 24:11.000] So, I mean, if you can't be real with somebody like that, then really, who are you [24:11.000 --> 24:12.080] being real with? [24:12.920 --> 24:14.960] Yeah, that's another good point. [24:14.960 --> 24:19.840] I mean, you know, somebody that you've known for that long is going to, there's [24:19.840 --> 24:23.320] somebody who's going to know you, even if you don't realize they know you. [24:23.600 --> 24:23.960] Right. [24:24.600 --> 24:27.000] Because they've seen changes you've gone through. [24:27.000 --> 24:29.240] They've seen everything seen you at your worst. [24:29.240 --> 24:30.240] They've seen you at your best. [24:30.240 --> 24:32.920] I've got a few people like that in my life. [24:33.240 --> 24:34.080] Yeah, I do too. [24:34.560 --> 24:35.720] I'm podcasting with one of them. [24:36.040 --> 24:37.360] Yeah, that's me. [24:41.240 --> 24:43.840] Yeah, that's me. [24:44.720 --> 24:44.960] Yeah. [24:44.960 --> 24:45.720] So Dr. [24:45.720 --> 24:51.960] Sharon, I'm very excited she's here because it's a, it's a fun, it's a fun time [24:52.000 --> 24:54.280] for the team, you know, we've got new blood. [24:54.280 --> 24:58.560] We've got a new character in, which is always nice because it kind of offsets [24:59.000 --> 25:02.040] what you think that you know that you're going into, you know, it's already [25:02.040 --> 25:05.560] going to get jumbled up a little bit, but it's, it's not in a bad way. [25:05.560 --> 25:08.360] Like you think it's going to be, it's actually in a really good way, but [25:08.360 --> 25:11.600] there's still some trepidation about it, but the team is doing better. [25:11.600 --> 25:14.880] Like it's just like this yo-yo, you know, you don't, you don't know what's [25:14.880 --> 25:15.680] going to happen next. [25:15.680 --> 25:16.640] And that's, that's fun. [25:17.240 --> 25:17.560] Yeah. [25:17.560 --> 25:18.760] No, I agree with that completely. [25:18.760 --> 25:22.800] And I'm, I'm really looking forward to, to seeing more of Dr. [25:22.800 --> 25:27.040] Sharon as we go through, because she's somebody who actually becomes, she plays [25:27.040 --> 25:31.400] a very important part, not just, cause you kind of touched on it a little bit [25:31.400 --> 25:35.400] early, she plays a very important part, not just for the team, but for Ted in [25:35.400 --> 25:35.720] particular. [25:35.720 --> 25:37.200] For Ted, for sure. [25:37.200 --> 25:37.520] Yeah. [25:37.560 --> 25:37.760] Yeah. [25:38.160 --> 25:42.400] Like she is a huge influence on Ted a little bit later on. [25:42.760 --> 25:44.400] You know what, I need a Dr. [25:44.400 --> 25:45.400] Sharon in my life. [25:46.840 --> 25:47.640] I need a beard. [25:48.520 --> 25:50.040] A coach beard, not an actual beard. [25:50.040 --> 25:50.800] I have one of those. [25:50.840 --> 25:51.680] Yeah, you do have one. [25:51.840 --> 25:52.200] Yeah. [25:52.360 --> 25:53.240] I need a coach beard. [25:53.600 --> 25:56.480] I, I'm a hype man who keeps it real. [25:57.160 --> 25:57.560] Yeah. [25:57.600 --> 25:58.200] Exactly. [25:58.400 --> 25:59.960] Oh, no, actually I got to have that. [26:00.360 --> 26:00.600] Yeah. [26:01.080 --> 26:02.840] I'm, I'm podcasting with my coach. [26:02.840 --> 26:03.600] There you go. [26:06.040 --> 26:07.920] I'm podcasting with my coach beard right now. [26:08.240 --> 26:08.920] Perfect. [26:09.440 --> 26:10.440] Shifting gears. [26:10.680 --> 26:11.000] Yeah. [26:13.600 --> 26:14.720] Who are we shifting to? [26:15.200 --> 26:16.800] Let's talk about Nate for a second. [26:17.280 --> 26:18.680] Oh, let's do that. [26:19.120 --> 26:19.640] So. [26:21.360 --> 26:23.680] I've got some definite Nate opinions here. [26:26.120 --> 26:29.640] Nate, why don't you start us off? [26:30.240 --> 26:31.760] You, why are you struggling? [26:32.720 --> 26:33.440] Nate is it? [26:35.160 --> 26:36.640] He's a little bit of a dick. [26:36.720 --> 26:38.240] He's a lot of a dick. [26:38.560 --> 26:39.080] Okay. [26:39.520 --> 26:43.960] He, first of all, you see a little bit of Nate coming out here. [26:43.960 --> 26:47.200] You see true colors again coming out for me. [26:47.560 --> 26:51.640] We talked, we talked about it last episode in that, you know, a little bit. [26:51.640 --> 26:52.480] And you're right. [26:52.480 --> 26:59.400] We're starting to see a side of Nate that is not exactly the best. [26:59.400 --> 27:01.680] I mean, there's two moments in particular. [27:02.440 --> 27:04.400] The position does your mother play. [27:04.440 --> 27:07.440] That was such an asshole comment. [27:07.640 --> 27:11.960] Well, and if you notice too, like even Ted kind of gives him a look afterwards. [27:11.960 --> 27:14.160] Like, uh, where did that come from? [27:14.400 --> 27:14.800] Yep. [27:15.480 --> 27:19.600] You know, and Nate kind of tries to defend himself saying, like, you know, some [27:19.600 --> 27:21.960] pressure makes per he says the line wrong. [27:22.480 --> 27:25.600] Um, you know, pressure makes pearls, but it's pressure makes diamonds. [27:25.720 --> 27:26.120] Yeah. [27:26.240 --> 27:32.440] Um, you know, but like for, for you to treat somebody in that position, that's [27:32.440 --> 27:34.760] the position you just came from. [27:35.040 --> 27:35.320] Yep. [27:36.080 --> 27:41.240] Because he can't boss anybody around because he was low man on the totem pole. [27:41.240 --> 27:44.800] Now he's a coach, but he's a coach to all these people that used to be his [27:44.800 --> 27:45.560] superior. [27:45.680 --> 27:48.320] So he's not all the way comfortable with doing that. [27:48.480 --> 27:53.000] So the only person that he can really display any power over is new guy, Will. [27:53.720 --> 27:57.320] But I mean, again, like the seeing the side of Nate that we kind of don't [27:57.320 --> 27:59.840] like at this moment too is one, you're right. [27:59.840 --> 28:02.480] He's, he's, he sees the one person in the room. [28:02.480 --> 28:03.960] He can kind of boss around. [28:04.480 --> 28:08.320] But again, that was your position before Will. [28:09.040 --> 28:14.120] And you went through the same thing with Colin and Isaac and Jamie, right. [28:15.160 --> 28:17.080] You had it three fold. [28:17.360 --> 28:19.280] You know how this feels. [28:19.320 --> 28:20.520] Bullies become bullies. [28:20.960 --> 28:21.440] Yeah. [28:21.720 --> 28:26.680] And I mean, that's, that's as a teacher, that's something that I see every single day. [28:26.920 --> 28:30.600] Kids that are bullied at home by their parents, bully the kids at school. [28:30.720 --> 28:31.200] Period. [28:31.200 --> 28:32.320] Bullies become bullies. [28:32.600 --> 28:36.200] But not only that, there's another moment a little bit later on too, when they're [28:36.200 --> 28:40.240] trying to figure out how to deal with Danny and Nate makes a comment. [28:40.240 --> 28:41.920] Well, let's show him his goddamn paycheck. [28:41.920 --> 28:42.760] That'll wake him up. [28:42.800 --> 28:46.160] That was what garbage. [28:46.160 --> 28:47.200] That was disgusting. [28:47.360 --> 28:47.960] Mm hmm. [28:48.800 --> 28:52.600] Um, you know, and Ted kind of plays it off a little bit like I shouldn't [28:52.600 --> 28:54.040] bring an umbrella to a brainstorm. [28:54.280 --> 28:57.160] Well, he said that's, that's a little aggressive. [28:57.360 --> 28:57.720] Yeah. [28:59.320 --> 29:05.520] But I mean, that comes from a side of Nate who is experiencing authority for [29:05.520 --> 29:11.200] the first time, which is not a good color on him. [29:11.240 --> 29:13.960] No, it was one of the words I was actually just thinking to. [29:13.960 --> 29:21.600] And, and I think Ted is maybe realizing that he wasn't a good judge of [29:21.600 --> 29:28.400] Nate's character, or maybe Nate's character was so well hidden that we're [29:28.400 --> 29:34.160] now just seeing Nate as who he is, whatever it is, you know, in the last [29:34.160 --> 29:38.400] episode, we saw him start to tell off Rebecca and call her a shrew. [29:38.680 --> 29:42.200] And then this episode, he's beating up on the lowest man on the totem pole [29:42.200 --> 29:46.520] in that building, which Ted is vehemently against doing. [29:47.120 --> 29:54.280] Um, so I imagine that there is a lot of underlying question marks from, from [29:54.360 --> 29:58.560] him and beard right now with the way that Nate is acting. [29:58.560 --> 30:01.080] And, you know, Ted builds people up. [30:01.080 --> 30:02.520] He doesn't humble people. [30:02.520 --> 30:06.960] And so I don't know that he really understands what to do with a situation [30:06.960 --> 30:07.400] like this. [30:07.400 --> 30:10.640] And maybe that's why it could potentially get out of hand. [30:11.400 --> 30:11.800] Yeah. [30:12.920 --> 30:13.200] Yeah. [30:13.200 --> 30:17.120] It's going to be, you know, that we've seen the series obviously in many [30:17.120 --> 30:18.520] people who are listening have seen the series. [30:18.520 --> 30:25.160] So we know we know Nate's path already, but it's interesting to rewatch [30:25.160 --> 30:31.120] now at this point, knowing Nate's path and picking up on, well, and, and [30:31.120 --> 30:35.560] I do have something for our spoilers section that I do want to cover that [30:35.560 --> 30:36.760] I'm not going to cover right now. [30:37.040 --> 30:44.280] Um, but yeah, it's an interesting series of events in this one scene with Nate. [30:44.560 --> 30:47.720] Also, did you notice that he's still wearing a tie underneath? [30:47.720 --> 30:48.200] I did. [30:49.080 --> 30:49.440] I did. [30:49.440 --> 30:51.640] Cause you mentioned that in the last episode as well. [30:51.640 --> 30:56.600] And so when I was editing last episode, I, I was actually rewatching some of the [30:56.600 --> 30:59.840] moments from that episode as I was editing, because I wanted to see that. [31:00.160 --> 31:02.560] And I did notice that he was wearing the shirt and tie. [31:02.920 --> 31:03.160] Yeah. [31:03.160 --> 31:05.360] And he still is now in this still is. [31:05.360 --> 31:05.640] Yep. [31:06.160 --> 31:11.880] Well, so, you know, he, he considers his position to be extremely important. [31:12.360 --> 31:14.480] Um, by the way, he dresses for it. [31:15.080 --> 31:21.080] Um, and maybe suit and tie people act a little different. [31:21.080 --> 31:26.200] And he's playing with that, you know, more, more than maybe it is that we're seeing [31:26.200 --> 31:30.120] him act the way he thinks he should be acting and not the way that he really [31:30.120 --> 31:33.640] is because he's never been in a position of authority before. [31:34.080 --> 31:36.120] So he doesn't know what to do. [31:36.400 --> 31:38.840] That being in a position of authority, it's what I mentioned is a new [31:38.840 --> 31:39.120] position. [31:39.120 --> 31:40.280] He's never been there. [31:40.720 --> 31:46.080] So he doesn't know how to react with this bit of, bit of power, but going back [31:46.080 --> 31:49.440] to the point real quick too, about the shirt and tie, think about this. [31:49.680 --> 31:51.440] Who's the person that gave him that? [31:52.520 --> 31:55.760] Ted, Ted, Ted is the one who not only gave him. [31:55.960 --> 32:00.840] Who not only empowered him by making him a coach, he at first empowered him by [32:00.840 --> 32:02.240] buying him a suit. [32:02.440 --> 32:05.880] Well, yeah, Ted, look, Ted is a magic human being. [32:05.920 --> 32:06.360] Okay. [32:06.560 --> 32:09.920] That deserves all the good things and none of the bad things. [32:10.440 --> 32:14.880] Um, I think that we all can collectively agree on that. [32:15.280 --> 32:15.560] Yeah. [32:15.920 --> 32:16.320] Yeah. [32:17.040 --> 32:18.200] 100%. [32:19.240 --> 32:21.480] So yeah, it is interesting to see Nate. [32:22.480 --> 32:23.960] Nate has a Dr. [32:23.960 --> 32:24.880] Jekyll and Mr. [32:24.880 --> 32:34.040] Hyde person persona and, um, it started in the finale of season one and we pick [32:34.040 --> 32:36.960] right back up with it in the premiere of season two. [32:37.360 --> 32:39.240] Just to say this is not a fluke. [32:39.800 --> 32:43.240] This is not a one time thing of him calling Rebecca Shrew. [32:43.640 --> 32:45.240] We're going to see more of this. [32:45.400 --> 32:45.840] Yes. [32:46.280 --> 32:50.280] This was early on set and this is going to continue. [32:50.560 --> 32:50.880] Yeah. [32:51.680 --> 32:55.240] And I think that that's all that that really, that's all that the [32:55.240 --> 32:58.600] intention was in that one scene, because it's not the whole episode, right? [32:58.800 --> 33:02.800] I mean, it's two quick moments in the episode and they're, you know, but [33:02.800 --> 33:03.360] they're there. [33:03.360 --> 33:05.480] I mean, they're there and they're mean. [33:05.800 --> 33:09.800] Well, I mean, again, like we talked about in the finale, how, you know, in the [33:09.800 --> 33:13.160] finale of season one, I mentioned this last episode, how you brought up, like he [33:13.160 --> 33:16.720] calls for Becca Shrew and I was like, yeah, but then it's very quickly forgotten [33:16.720 --> 33:19.600] because they go into the promotion that Nate's promotion. [33:20.360 --> 33:21.960] It's not easily forgotten this time. [33:22.280 --> 33:24.280] No, it's so much more noticeable. [33:24.520 --> 33:27.520] Well, and him saying, show him has got down paycheck. [33:27.520 --> 33:34.120] Like you said, that sentence hangs in the air for like one or two beats. [33:34.240 --> 33:34.520] Yeah. [33:35.320 --> 33:41.800] Like there, there is a surprise pause before Ted goes, well, okay, let's not [33:41.800 --> 33:42.720] get that aggressive. [33:42.920 --> 33:46.640] Well, I mean, it's it's one thing to be bullying to will. [33:47.480 --> 33:51.400] Um, but it's another thing to make a comment about a player who's going [33:51.400 --> 33:53.760] through a hard time because he just murdered a dog by accident. [33:53.920 --> 34:00.800] Yeah, but you're also that to me kind of shows Nate is trying to exude authority [34:00.880 --> 34:02.720] over the team. [34:03.080 --> 34:04.400] Oh, yeah, you're right. [34:05.080 --> 34:09.680] Like he's he he sees the authority that he has and he's kind of trying to push it. [34:10.520 --> 34:13.760] He's trying to make everybody by making a comment like that. [34:13.760 --> 34:17.880] He wants to make it known that I have influence. [34:18.000 --> 34:18.280] Yeah. [34:18.840 --> 34:21.080] He's influencing in the wrong direction. [34:21.400 --> 34:21.760] Yeah. [34:23.120 --> 34:26.160] Because that's ultimately not the decision they go with. [34:26.160 --> 34:27.680] It's written off very quickly. [34:28.120 --> 34:30.720] Um, but it's a power move. [34:30.920 --> 34:32.160] It's a power move by Nate. [34:32.760 --> 34:33.280] Yes. [34:34.800 --> 34:39.160] Uh, which is a again, a completely different side of Nate. [34:39.160 --> 34:43.240] We've never seen before, but is going to be there. [34:44.240 --> 34:49.160] And we're going to have to deal with it because people like that are not, [34:49.160 --> 34:51.520] they don't quickly forget that it. [34:51.520 --> 34:55.240] They have to either be punished or put in their place. [34:55.640 --> 34:56.000] Yeah. [34:56.320 --> 34:59.240] And those are two things that Ted is not good at. [34:59.600 --> 35:00.760] No, at all. [35:01.520 --> 35:06.560] So it's to those of you watching, it's going to be an interesting trip. [35:07.760 --> 35:08.800] Watching for the first time. [35:09.080 --> 35:11.040] Yeah, it's going to be an interesting trip. [35:11.520 --> 35:14.640] Uh, a nice way of putting it. [35:15.000 --> 35:15.360] Yeah. [35:16.360 --> 35:21.760] Um, I would like to go to, um, Roy for a little bit. [35:21.960 --> 35:28.640] Yes, I would too, because Roy, quite honestly, Roy's face is a chia pet, by the way, [35:28.840 --> 35:32.720] we have seen that he has grown out of every orifice of his head. [35:33.840 --> 35:34.880] The last seven games. [35:34.880 --> 35:40.000] The amount of hair on his body that we saw in the finale has his head and face [35:40.000 --> 35:44.120] his count caught up to that, this episode. [35:44.480 --> 35:47.120] But I'm glad you brought him up and I'm going to let you go. [35:47.120 --> 35:55.920] But I, I want to say as great as this premiere was Roy has my favorite moment [35:56.640 --> 35:57.760] in this entire episode. [35:58.040 --> 36:00.320] Oh, his speech, right? [36:00.560 --> 36:01.200] To Rebecca. [36:01.400 --> 36:01.760] Yeah. [36:02.520 --> 36:02.880] Yeah. [36:03.120 --> 36:07.920] And I will, when we get to that, I will tell you exactly why I love that moment. [36:08.360 --> 36:14.280] I, you know, Roy has such a great character because he has this very, very [36:14.840 --> 36:18.520] difficult to penetrate toward a shell around him. [36:19.160 --> 36:26.000] But he proves that once you, once you're in with him, he's got your back. [36:26.360 --> 36:27.680] He's rooting for you. [36:27.880 --> 36:34.280] He is 100% going to throw down for you if needed. [36:34.720 --> 36:37.880] Um, and we see a lot of that with his relationship with Phoebe. [36:37.880 --> 36:43.840] Which we know, right off the bat, we get the first time we see Roy this season is [36:44.200 --> 36:44.920] with Phoebe. [36:45.120 --> 36:47.360] He's coaching her football team. [36:47.920 --> 36:52.560] And, uh, and I love how they keep it just him. [36:53.720 --> 36:57.040] As he's sitting there and he's like, you guys played like a bunch of pricks. [36:57.320 --> 36:58.160] Blah, blah, blah, blah. [36:58.160 --> 37:02.320] You've got to get better, da, da, da, da, da, and then it pans out and he's coaching [37:02.320 --> 37:05.520] little girls and one of them, one of them is hurt. [37:05.760 --> 37:10.160] And he's like, he's like, except for you, coca ruta, you put your body on the line [37:10.160 --> 37:10.440] out there. [37:10.440 --> 37:11.840] She's like, you know it, coach. [37:14.080 --> 37:17.680] But I love like it's, it's one thing to see that Roy is coaching little. [37:17.680 --> 37:22.360] He's being Roy and he's coaching little girls, but these little girls take to it. [37:23.040 --> 37:26.160] Like they're fully behind coach Roy. [37:26.480 --> 37:28.640] Everybody knows who Roy Kent is. [37:28.640 --> 37:33.560] Like the best part about being Roy Kent is that he doesn't have to pretend to be [37:33.600 --> 37:36.960] anything other than who he is because he's never done that. [37:37.200 --> 37:41.160] So if you're asking Roy Kent to be a coach of a girls football team, guess what? [37:41.200 --> 37:42.240] You're going to get Roy Kent. [37:42.440 --> 37:43.640] You're not going to get Mr. [37:43.640 --> 37:44.240] Rogers. [37:44.240 --> 37:45.880] You're going to get Roy Kent. [37:46.120 --> 37:49.640] Whoever brought in Roy to be the coach of this little girl's team knew [37:49.640 --> 37:51.400] exactly who they were bringing in. [37:51.600 --> 37:52.120] Yeah. [37:52.120 --> 37:55.760] Which is why, you know, Miss, Miss Bowen is just like, listen, you can't call them [37:55.760 --> 37:57.640] pricks even when they're being pricks. [37:58.120 --> 38:02.600] I have that line because I have that line in my quotes because that's, it's, it's [38:02.600 --> 38:03.760] typical Miss Bowen. [38:03.760 --> 38:06.400] You're going to get more lines like this from Miss Bowen. [38:06.400 --> 38:09.680] Like she knows exactly who kids are. [38:09.800 --> 38:13.240] Well, that's most teachers just to let you know as a teacher. [38:13.440 --> 38:17.160] That's most teachers, but she's beautifully written. [38:17.240 --> 38:20.440] Yeah, but she says coach Kent, they're eight years old. [38:20.440 --> 38:22.080] You can't call them little pricks. [38:22.280 --> 38:25.000] Sorry, Miss Bowen, even when they're being little pricks. [38:25.440 --> 38:25.880] Yeah. [38:27.520 --> 38:29.400] And I like it that he calls her Miss Bowen. [38:29.440 --> 38:29.800] Yep. [38:30.680 --> 38:35.120] Oh, he, he fully subdued to Miss Bowen as well. [38:35.120 --> 38:37.160] He treats her with massive respect. [38:37.360 --> 38:38.320] Of course he does. [38:38.320 --> 38:39.560] That's Phoebe's teacher. [38:39.760 --> 38:44.200] Phoebe is the most precious thing in his life, in his life. [38:46.120 --> 38:50.960] More than Keeley, more than his sister, more than football, more than anything. [38:51.160 --> 38:54.840] If you touch Phoebe, Roy Kent is going to kill you. [38:55.040 --> 38:58.640] Oh, and we're, we're going to get a little bit of that in a couple of episodes, too. [38:58.640 --> 38:59.080] Right. [38:59.240 --> 38:59.800] Right. [38:59.840 --> 39:00.840] I can't wait for it. [39:01.240 --> 39:06.680] The fact that in his retirement, he decides to focus on Phoebe. [39:07.280 --> 39:09.000] Yeah, I think that's wonderful. [39:09.000 --> 39:10.480] That shows who he is. [39:10.920 --> 39:15.800] However, okay, he is drinking a lot, like a lot. [39:15.920 --> 39:16.920] Well, okay. [39:16.920 --> 39:23.560] So I understand how you can kind of think that, but when you rewatch that scene, [39:23.680 --> 39:26.200] you're talking about the scene where they're at dinner on the double date, right? [39:26.640 --> 39:32.640] Well, that and and the and him drinking the rosé, you know, top me off, top me off. [39:33.160 --> 39:39.760] Well, so the dinner date, when he keeps asking for more drinks, it's because they [39:39.760 --> 39:40.840] never bring it. [39:41.400 --> 39:43.640] Yeah, but he's asked like five people for it. [39:43.640 --> 39:46.640] So I can only assume that five of them are coming. [39:47.080 --> 39:53.720] But I also would just be fantastic if like five different people just came to bring [39:53.720 --> 39:57.960] him and one person has two drinks because he does say, can I get like two more of these? [39:59.520 --> 40:02.960] I mean, he's saying that obviously because he wants something to get him through the [40:02.960 --> 40:08.360] hell that is this date, this double date, not because the guy is horrible, but because [40:08.360 --> 40:10.880] he just doesn't do stuff like he's here. [40:11.040 --> 40:11.680] He's there. [40:11.760 --> 40:14.000] He's every fucking where Roy Kent. [40:16.000 --> 40:21.000] And I love how we get multiple mentions of Roy's retirement speech, which when you see [40:21.000 --> 40:22.720] it, it's fantastic. [40:22.720 --> 40:23.840] It's next episode. [40:24.240 --> 40:25.320] Oh, thanks. [40:25.520 --> 40:26.520] It's episode two. [40:26.720 --> 40:27.480] Oh my gosh. [40:27.520 --> 40:33.640] And he like, because you just get this idea that he has really biffed it hard. [40:35.760 --> 40:37.320] He's embarrassed by it. [40:37.560 --> 40:39.240] Of course he is. [40:39.320 --> 40:44.840] He's he's embarrassed by his his retirement speech, which I mean, if you know Roy Kent, [40:44.840 --> 40:48.680] which you should at this point makes you realize he probably cried. [40:49.520 --> 40:51.960] Oh, he did more than cry. [40:52.720 --> 40:54.600] It looks like he used the microphone as tissue. [40:54.800 --> 40:58.200] Yeah, so, but that's that's season two. [40:59.400 --> 40:59.720] It is. [40:59.720 --> 41:02.520] Like I mean, it's episode two of the season. [41:02.720 --> 41:09.600] It's it's next episode, but going back to Roy and Phoebe, I noticed something this [41:09.600 --> 41:12.680] episode because you made mention of Nate earlier on talking to Dr. [41:12.680 --> 41:14.440] Sharon about what's your record? [41:14.520 --> 41:17.080] 1,200, like 1,236. [41:17.440 --> 41:19.320] That number comes up twice. [41:19.440 --> 41:20.160] Yes, it does. [41:20.160 --> 41:21.160] It's the episode. [41:21.160 --> 41:23.760] It's also that in my notes, I do too. [41:23.960 --> 41:29.840] It's also what Roy owes Phoebe because she gets a pound every time he swears. [41:30.040 --> 41:30.480] Yeah. [41:31.000 --> 41:33.360] So I did the conversion. [41:33.720 --> 41:34.760] Do you know that? [41:35.120 --> 41:36.480] Oh, wait, wait, wait. [41:36.520 --> 41:37.400] What were you saying? [41:37.680 --> 41:40.360] What where did it start off with the record, right? [41:40.640 --> 41:42.360] It's no, it starts with Phoebe. [41:43.760 --> 41:48.560] Phoebe says it first and then and then he says impressive. [41:49.440 --> 41:52.480] Well, yeah, yeah, because Phoebe [41:52.680 --> 41:54.600] asked Phoebe, what is Roy? [41:54.800 --> 41:57.840] Oh, so far, 1,236 pounds. [41:58.040 --> 41:59.720] And then Kelly says impressive. [41:59.920 --> 42:00.880] Yes. [42:01.080 --> 42:05.880] And then it happens again, it happens again with Ted and Dr. [42:05.880 --> 42:07.560] Sharon, Nate and Dr. Sharon. [42:09.920 --> 42:11.720] Nate's the one that needs to be made in Dr. [42:11.920 --> 42:13.520] Sharon 1,236. [42:13.520 --> 42:14.400] And then what does Dr. [42:14.600 --> 42:15.680] Sharon say, impressive. [42:16.680 --> 42:17.080] Yep. [42:17.280 --> 42:19.080] So I don't think it means anything. [42:19.080 --> 42:22.280] I think it's just a fun little nod they put in there for fun. [42:22.480 --> 42:22.920] Who cares? [42:22.920 --> 42:24.720] I don't think the number ever comes back for any. [42:24.920 --> 42:26.680] There's also two Star Wars references. [42:28.720 --> 42:30.600] I texted you one of them this morning. [42:30.800 --> 42:32.000] Yeah, both by Higgins. [42:32.200 --> 42:33.760] No, Keely says what? [42:33.960 --> 42:34.720] Oh, that's right. [42:34.920 --> 42:36.000] Higgins was there. [42:36.400 --> 42:41.800] Yes, but what's funny, what's the funniest part about Higgins's reference? [42:42.360 --> 42:43.880] Cause Higgins makes the reference. [42:44.080 --> 42:47.080] He says like he's going to go home and watch Empire with his kids. [42:47.280 --> 42:52.040] And he's gearing up to explain why Luke and Leia make out at one point. [42:52.240 --> 42:53.240] They don't make out. [42:53.240 --> 42:55.080] Can we just like stop this kiss? [42:55.280 --> 42:58.520] They kiss each other, but they're still brother and sister. [42:58.720 --> 43:00.040] Oh, they didn't know. [43:00.240 --> 43:01.440] I know they didn't know. [43:01.640 --> 43:09.160] But Higgins does something that I think in my head constantly. [43:09.400 --> 43:14.000] And it's the fact that when Ted says to Higgins, may the force be with you, [43:14.200 --> 43:17.200] Higgins responds and also with you. [43:17.400 --> 43:19.840] That's the response. [43:20.040 --> 43:22.000] It's not in Star Wars, but it is for. [43:22.200 --> 43:22.480] Yeah. [43:24.280 --> 43:25.040] No, it's not. [43:25.240 --> 43:25.840] Yes. [43:26.040 --> 43:27.240] Yes. [43:27.440 --> 43:31.720] Oh, maybe I just I'm out of touch with Star Wars. [43:31.920 --> 43:32.440] Yes. [43:32.640 --> 43:33.480] Yes. [43:33.680 --> 43:35.240] Huh. [43:35.440 --> 43:36.440] OK. [43:36.640 --> 43:38.280] Yeah. [43:38.440 --> 43:42.000] Now I got to find it, but I swear to you, it said multiple times. [43:42.200 --> 43:44.120] May the force be with you and also with you. [43:44.320 --> 43:45.240] Oh, OK. [43:45.440 --> 43:50.920] I don't remember that ever being said in Star Wars, but I probably just don't remember. [43:51.120 --> 43:54.520] So it is what it is. [43:54.720 --> 43:56.560] I'm out of touch with Star Wars. [43:56.760 --> 43:57.760] Well, I am not. [43:57.960 --> 43:59.240] I know you're not. [43:59.440 --> 44:02.920] I just need to go back and rewatch all the movies, just remind myself that. [44:03.120 --> 44:03.720] Well, we're doing it. [44:03.920 --> 44:05.560] You want to come down? [44:05.760 --> 44:07.280] It's just to watch Star Wars. [44:07.480 --> 44:07.800] Yeah. [44:07.960 --> 44:08.800] Sure. [44:09.880 --> 44:14.160] But yeah, the first Star Wars references from Keeley [44:14.360 --> 44:17.920] when Ted tells her don't fret, don't fret Boba Fett. [44:18.120 --> 44:19.760] Because I actually texted you that this morning. [44:19.960 --> 44:20.800] You did. [44:21.000 --> 44:21.960] Don't fret Boba Fett. [44:22.160 --> 44:24.760] When you said you were running late, I was like, don't fret Boba Fett. [44:24.960 --> 44:25.560] Yep. [44:25.760 --> 44:28.520] Hoping you would pick up on exactly why I texted you that. [44:28.720 --> 44:30.920] Oh, I did. [44:32.400 --> 44:36.120] But yeah, so you know, Phoebe's keeping track of the number. [44:36.360 --> 44:39.840] Roy owes Phoebe a quid every time, which is a pound. [44:40.040 --> 44:42.040] Every time he swears and it is. [44:42.240 --> 44:42.960] A quid is a pound? [44:43.160 --> 44:43.600] No, it is. [44:43.800 --> 44:44.600] Yes, it is. [44:44.800 --> 44:46.200] Quid is just an equal. [44:46.400 --> 44:48.160] Quid is just a nickname for a pound. [44:48.360 --> 44:49.920] Oh, yeah. [44:50.120 --> 44:51.920] How many shillings make up a pound? [44:52.120 --> 44:53.320] That I don't know. [44:53.520 --> 44:58.320] Well, but a quid is just a nickname for a pound. [44:58.520 --> 45:04.840] But Phoebe keeps track and Roy at the moment owes 1,236 pounds. [45:05.080 --> 45:06.120] I did the conversion. [45:06.320 --> 45:08.160] Do you know what that is in American? [45:08.360 --> 45:12.600] 1,528 $1,521. [45:12.800 --> 45:13.720] That's awesome. [45:13.920 --> 45:14.440] Yeah. [45:17.280 --> 45:21.840] Roy owes Phoebe over $1,500 in swearing. [45:22.040 --> 45:26.720] And that was before going off on his rant when Kealey says he should be [45:26.920 --> 45:27.920] appointed. [45:29.720 --> 45:30.840] Yes. [45:31.680 --> 45:34.000] So, but yeah, so, you know, [45:34.240 --> 45:35.760] Roy's still trying to find it. [45:35.960 --> 45:38.200] They're still trying to find a way for Roy. [45:38.400 --> 45:41.440] I don't want to say Roy's trying to find a way to find his way. [45:41.640 --> 45:44.120] They're trying to find a way for Roy. [45:44.320 --> 45:47.200] Well, and I think that that is [45:47.400 --> 45:53.480] any athletes issue when they retire from the sport is what do I do now? [45:53.680 --> 45:57.800] This was my whole life and he doesn't want to talk about the sport. [45:58.000 --> 46:01.440] I get that he's not ready to do something like that. [46:01.680 --> 46:04.320] Because he left before I think he was ready to leave. [46:04.520 --> 46:07.720] His body gave out before his heart gave out on. [46:07.920 --> 46:08.800] Oh, yeah. Yeah. [46:09.000 --> 46:09.600] Absolutely. [46:09.800 --> 46:10.400] 100%. [46:11.800 --> 46:16.960] Yeah, to retire on an injury is a harder way to leave than going out on your own. [46:17.160 --> 46:23.880] So, you know, coaching, we see that, you know, coaching is filling that spot right now. [46:24.080 --> 46:26.640] Coaching Phoebe's team is filling that spot right now. [46:26.880 --> 46:32.240] And we also we also see his yoga group for the first time. [46:32.440 --> 46:34.280] The yoga. Yeah. [46:34.480 --> 46:37.320] Which I love. I love what they're watching. [46:37.520 --> 46:40.000] Which is ruined. [46:40.520 --> 46:44.640] Right. Well, no, I think Roy was very much [46:44.840 --> 46:50.920] aware Jamie was on that show because I think they've been watching that show for a while. [46:51.160 --> 46:54.480] Because the way they were talking about the characters, like, oh, I love her. [46:54.480 --> 46:55.840] And like, oh, I love Jamie. [46:55.840 --> 46:58.440] Like they've he says it earlier. [46:58.440 --> 47:03.360] Like when he's talking to Keeley, he says they do yoga and watch garbage television. [47:03.720 --> 47:06.080] I think they've been watching that show for a while. [47:06.280 --> 47:08.520] I'm wondering if he was a new addition. [47:08.720 --> 47:10.400] No, because he was getting ready. [47:10.600 --> 47:13.440] It was whether or not he was going to be leaving the show. [47:13.640 --> 47:16.000] He was a poor elimination in the episode. [47:16.200 --> 47:16.600] That's right. [47:16.800 --> 47:18.040] OK, all right, all right. [47:18.240 --> 47:20.160] So he's been on the show for a while. [47:20.360 --> 47:22.080] And I think they've been watching the show for. [47:22.240 --> 47:25.720] I think Roy is pretty much hate watching that show. [47:25.920 --> 47:26.320] Yeah. [47:26.520 --> 47:30.040] And he can't even say that he knows Jamie. [47:30.240 --> 47:32.040] So he's just like, I need more rosé. [47:32.240 --> 47:33.320] Yeah. [47:33.520 --> 47:35.240] That's his way of dealing with it. [47:35.440 --> 47:39.440] That's his way of getting through much like Ted last season when he was trying to [47:39.640 --> 47:42.800] find his way with what does he do after marriage. [47:43.000 --> 47:46.800] Now we're going to see Roy with what does he do after football? [47:47.000 --> 47:50.360] Well, and we also see Rebecca kind of going through the same thing too. [47:50.440 --> 47:54.440] It was like, what's the next step for her and now that she's divorced? [47:54.640 --> 47:56.320] She saw that last season. [47:56.520 --> 48:00.000] But I think that she well, we saw that professionally for her last season. [48:00.200 --> 48:01.440] So now I think you're right. [48:01.640 --> 48:09.640] We're going to get her her personal life now, which is just freaking fantastic. [48:09.840 --> 48:17.240] When her and Ted have girl talk, I mean, girl, listen, that again, [48:17.440 --> 48:19.640] like we're we're getting the quotes early again. [48:19.720 --> 48:22.640] But he says, it's just the way he says it too. [48:22.840 --> 48:25.000] It was like rule number one, even though it's called girl talk, [48:25.200 --> 48:29.720] sometimes it needs to be more girl, listen, which is the way he says it. [48:29.920 --> 48:30.520] Yeah. [48:30.720 --> 48:33.000] You know, the double date with him, [48:33.200 --> 48:38.480] with her with Rebecca and John Wingsnite and and the only reason I remember [48:38.680 --> 48:40.960] that last name is because of the joke Ted made about it. [48:41.160 --> 48:44.280] Yeah, it's Wingsnite, free Wingsnite. [48:44.480 --> 48:47.560] Um, you know, but with Roy and Keeley, [48:47.720 --> 48:52.040] we talk about like that, my favorite moment with Roy in this, my favorite moment [48:52.240 --> 48:57.400] of the episode is with Roy and it's that speech that he gives Rebecca, like the [48:57.600 --> 49:03.240] date is over, John is left and Rebecca wants the feedback from Keeley and Roy. [49:03.440 --> 49:10.240] Keeley in particular, but Roy is the one that offers up the biggest piece of advice [49:10.440 --> 49:15.680] to Rebecca, the best piece of advice for anyone out there dating. [49:15.840 --> 49:23.440] And I, the reason why I love this moment so much is it's twofold because one, [49:23.640 --> 49:30.000] it really does open up Rebecca's eyes to what she should be looking for. [49:30.200 --> 49:33.880] Like she shouldn't just be going out there for the sake of the and date somebody [49:34.080 --> 49:35.040] for the sake of dating. [49:35.240 --> 49:39.800] It should be somebody who Roy says makes her feel like she's been struck by fucking lightning. [49:40.000 --> 49:40.720] Yes. [49:40.920 --> 49:45.400] But the other reason I love this scene so much with Roy is because [49:45.560 --> 49:49.960] you get this look from Keeley towards Roy. [49:50.160 --> 49:56.200] Roy would not be saying this if this is not how he felt being with Keeley. [49:56.400 --> 49:56.880] Yeah. [49:57.080 --> 50:03.080] Roy feels like Keeley, Keeley makes Roy feel like he's been struck by lightning. [50:03.280 --> 50:04.160] Yeah. [50:04.360 --> 50:08.720] He wouldn't be giving this advice to someone else unless this is something he's [50:08.920 --> 50:10.680] experiencing himself. [50:10.880 --> 50:13.640] And he says, don't you dare settle for fine. [50:13.800 --> 50:18.120] Yeah, which it makes the bond between Roy and Keeley. [50:18.320 --> 50:22.560] It makes me love Roy and Keeley so much more in that. [50:22.760 --> 50:25.720] There's such a good match. [50:25.920 --> 50:31.960] Their characters are wonderful and they just their characters got better when they got [50:32.160 --> 50:36.280] together. Yeah, absolutely because they found something in each other. [50:36.480 --> 50:43.320] They these are two people who when they met were instantly able to let their guard down. [50:43.480 --> 50:47.240] Which is an open up, which is incredible because you know, [50:47.440 --> 50:54.000] Keeley keeps herself very well hidden by, you know, being like a dopey, dumb model. [50:54.200 --> 51:00.160] And Roy keeps himself very well hidden by being a grumpy curmudgeon. [51:00.360 --> 51:01.800] Yeah. [51:02.000 --> 51:02.440] Yeah. [51:02.640 --> 51:07.200] And they both just kind of bloom out who they really are once they're together. [51:07.400 --> 51:10.680] And I just, yeah, I agree with you. [51:10.680 --> 51:16.240] I love that that scene when he's speaking very frankly to Rebecca. [51:16.440 --> 51:18.360] And Rebecca needed to hear that. [51:18.560 --> 51:20.560] Rebecca absolutely needed to hear it, but it was. [51:20.760 --> 51:23.800] And Keeley was never going to say that to Rebecca, which is interesting because [51:24.000 --> 51:28.120] she usually speaks her mind, but I think she was being a supportive friend. [51:28.320 --> 51:32.840] Well, not only that, but I think maybe in Rebecca in Keeley's mind, [51:33.040 --> 51:36.640] I think she meant what she said, like I think at the time she thought they were a good [51:36.840 --> 51:40.120] match until because there was nothing wrong with John. [51:40.280 --> 51:42.640] Well, notice she didn't say, Oh, I love him. [51:42.840 --> 51:43.200] He's great. [51:43.400 --> 51:44.560] She said it's a good match. [51:44.760 --> 51:47.600] Like that was what she had to say about it. [51:47.800 --> 51:48.480] That's true. [51:48.680 --> 51:51.200] Yeah, it probably was more just being supportive. [51:51.400 --> 51:57.280] But again, like I love that moment with for Roy, because it it hits all three of those [51:57.480 --> 52:02.520] characters in it shows you how Roy truly feels about Keeley. [52:02.720 --> 52:07.640] It shows Rebecca, she should never just settle. [52:07.800 --> 52:12.720] And I think this might be one of the first times Keeley is realizing how Roy feels [52:12.920 --> 52:18.080] about her, like truly feels about her, because again, she does give him that look [52:18.280 --> 52:20.600] when he's saying all of that. [52:20.800 --> 52:26.080] And then when after he says it and Rebecca looks at Keeley and she kind of just nods, [52:26.280 --> 52:29.200] like, yeah, that's that's it. [52:29.400 --> 52:31.800] Yeah, that's what's behind. [52:32.000 --> 52:36.320] He's a good match, but you know, [52:36.320 --> 52:44.280] you see that he is also it's when Keeley says he's financially appropriate and age [52:44.480 --> 52:48.400] appropriate, you know, you understand that he's financially appropriate when he gets [52:48.600 --> 52:51.640] into his car and he gets in the backseat. [52:51.840 --> 52:55.480] You know, oh, yeah, being driven home. [52:55.680 --> 52:57.200] Yeah, yeah. [52:57.400 --> 52:59.800] You know, well, Rebecca gets that too. [53:00.000 --> 53:05.200] She kind of gets chauffeured around what she exactly, but Rebecca is filthy rich. [53:05.320 --> 53:10.760] And so you just it's it's being made aware that this is not somebody who is there [53:10.960 --> 53:12.720] because she's filthy rich. [53:12.920 --> 53:15.120] He is also filthy rich. [53:15.320 --> 53:17.640] Yeah, I guess is my point. [53:17.840 --> 53:20.360] That's how they say it without saying it. [53:20.560 --> 53:23.440] OK, all right. [53:23.640 --> 53:25.800] No, I just again, this is just one of my [53:26.000 --> 53:31.280] favorite scenes of the episode and coincidentally, it's with Roy. [53:31.480 --> 53:34.520] I know I I know I talk a lot about Roy because he is my favorite character, [53:34.520 --> 53:38.400] but it's like me talking about Sawyer during lost. [53:38.600 --> 53:40.640] That's true. That's very true. [53:40.840 --> 53:44.000] We like we like the problem characters. [53:44.200 --> 53:45.680] Roy is not a problem character. [53:45.880 --> 53:47.640] Well, neither is Sawyer. [53:47.840 --> 53:50.320] I'm saying we like the rough exterior characters. [53:50.520 --> 53:53.080] True. Yeah, that's that's a good point. [53:53.280 --> 53:55.680] They're easier to talk about. [53:58.880 --> 54:00.440] I'm kind of looking through. [54:00.640 --> 54:04.200] No, I'm tapped out. Let's go to spoilers. [54:05.400 --> 54:08.720] Yeah, let me just make sure. [54:08.920 --> 54:13.160] Ted's Oh, I mean, there was the touching story that Ted gave in the press conference, [54:13.360 --> 54:18.040] too, you know, about losing losing the dog that he had when he was younger. [54:18.240 --> 54:20.880] But I feel like that while it was a [54:21.080 --> 54:25.120] a real good story that kind of lends to Ted's attitude, [54:25.320 --> 54:30.360] it's just played better because immediately after that, we go to Danny in the shower. [54:30.920 --> 54:35.160] Like, it's just it's a way to kind of calm you down and then just be like, [54:35.360 --> 54:37.800] all right, that's pretty funny. [54:38.000 --> 54:41.540] La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la. [54:41.740 --> 54:44.400] Trying to wash off the murder. [54:44.600 --> 54:47.320] But yeah, I think that's pretty much all I have for the main discussion. [54:47.520 --> 54:52.000] So with that being said, we're going to dive in a spoiler territory. [54:52.200 --> 54:54.160] So if you're watching for the first time, [54:54.360 --> 54:59.800] check the show notes to find out when we're going to come back for favorite quotes. [54:59.800 --> 55:02.440] I know we both want to talk about the therapy thing. [55:04.600 --> 55:10.280] So, but before we do that, I want to, I'm going to stick with John for a little bit here, [55:10.280 --> 55:15.400] John Wingsnite. I love the fact that like we get that conversation with him when he taught [55:15.400 --> 55:20.520] when Rebecca says, oh, he's like a mad football fan. And when I asked him what team does he [55:20.520 --> 55:25.880] support? He mentions teams other than Richmond. You know, we get to see John again, right? [55:26.840 --> 55:35.080] When? He's in the series finale. In the series finale, is he wearing Richmond clothing? [55:35.080 --> 55:42.600] More than that, he's wearing blood because that's right. He's the guy that when Isaac [55:42.600 --> 55:47.320] kicks the goal and it goes through the net and hits the guy in the face in the audience, [55:47.320 --> 55:53.400] that's John Wingsnite. Yeah, he's a fair weather fan. He likes whoever's winning. [55:53.480 --> 55:57.720] And then the next scene we see him, he's rooting on for Richmond. Yeah. [55:58.360 --> 56:05.160] So, yeah, he's a bandwagon fan. He's a bandwagon fan. And I like it that Roy, Roy knows it immediately [56:05.160 --> 56:09.640] when he says he goes, Oh, usually, you know, Chelsea or Man City, you know, whoever's winning. [56:09.640 --> 56:20.280] And Roy's like, Uh huh. Yeah. Got it. Yeah. I hate you. I also like that one of the first people we [56:20.280 --> 56:27.160] see coming out of Dr. Sharon's office after Danny is Colin. And I'm wondering if we get, [56:27.800 --> 56:33.960] this is where he starts to open up about a sexuality, right? Yes. Yeah. For sure. Okay. Me too. [56:34.600 --> 56:40.760] Yeah. The moment he walked out of the office, I was like, Oh, okay. This is this is planning the [56:40.760 --> 56:48.440] seed for what we're going to get with Colin this season. Yeah, because because he we also have [56:48.760 --> 57:02.280] in the season finale of the show, Nate says something offhand about Colin and not, you know, [57:03.480 --> 57:08.200] giving him something like that episode. We didn't. We didn't because we didn't do spoilers last [57:08.200 --> 57:13.160] episode. No, no, no. I said the line in quotes. I present to you this whistle, but it is sad. [57:13.160 --> 57:18.120] Do you know why? Because it has never been blown. Is that the same reason Colin's sad? [57:18.200 --> 57:22.280] Right. That's the off-handed joke that Nate makes. Right. An off-handed joke, [57:22.280 --> 57:28.280] but you see Colin's face kind of worry for a split second because he's closeted, right? [57:28.280 --> 57:35.080] Yes. And I think that this is the beginning of him starting to get therapy about being [57:35.080 --> 57:43.240] a gay athlete, which is still today seen as somewhat taboo. It's the one place where it is [57:44.040 --> 57:54.840] a bad look quote unquote to be gay in sports as a man. It's expected from women for some reason, [57:54.840 --> 58:00.120] but as a man, there is this culture that you can't be gay in sports. [58:00.920 --> 58:05.000] Well, I mean, and yeah, I mean, we're in spoiler territory, so we can talk about it too. [58:05.560 --> 58:10.120] What we get from Colin this season about him trying to come to grips with being, like you said, [58:10.120 --> 58:18.840] homosexual as an athlete. I love the point when it comes when it comes out because that episode [58:18.840 --> 58:28.680] with him and Isaac is a great episode because as angry as Isaac is about it, he's not angry about [58:28.680 --> 58:35.080] the fact that he is homosexual. He's mad that he didn't tell him, that he didn't trust him enough [58:35.080 --> 58:41.240] to tell him. Because it's the episode where Isaac gets in trouble because he goes into the crowd, [58:41.800 --> 58:49.000] somebody is yelling slurs. Not intentionally yelling slurs at Colin because [58:51.080 --> 58:57.560] the audience doesn't know that Colin is gay. He's just yelling slurs for the sake of yelling slurs, [58:57.560 --> 59:06.040] but Isaac knowing what he now knows, it makes him bad. He goes full Roy Kent in that moment. [59:06.040 --> 59:14.760] Well, you know, he is a mini Roy Kent. He froze chairs at TVs in that moment. [59:15.720 --> 59:21.960] Absolutely. But yes, Ian Colin walk out of the office was a nice little seed planted for Colin's [59:21.960 --> 59:26.520] story, which I liked. Yeah, and it proves that this is not something that they plucked out of [59:26.600 --> 59:32.360] thin air that they built up. They built this up. I think this is probably, yeah, I think this was [59:32.360 --> 59:36.840] probably always the intention with Colin's character. 100%. I completely agree. [59:38.600 --> 59:45.160] I do want to say that I, this was the first time I'm switching gears just a little bit, but this was [59:45.160 --> 59:54.600] the first time that I actually saw a reason or a starting point on why Nate was so mad at Ted [59:54.600 --> 59:58.120] when he finally gets mad at Ted and tells him off before leaving the team, [59:59.080 --> 01:00:07.160] was that Ted undermines Nate in the conversation that he had with Will. Nate is talking to Will and

[01:00:07] just like, what position does your mother play? And you know, you shouldn't be leaving early and

[01:00:11] blah, blah, blah, blah. And Ted is just like, okay, all right, all right, Will, have a wonderful

[01:00:17] time, blah, blah, blah. We'll see you later. And you see Nate kind of like look at Ted and

[01:00:21] bristle a little bit. And I look, I turned to Dave in that moment and I said, this, this is where it

[01:00:27] starts right here. This is where it starts is that he's mad because Ted just undermined him and

[01:00:33] embarrassed him in front of the new guy, the new kitman who he thought he had authority over and

[01:00:38] finds out that he does not have authority over him because Ted is top dog.

[01:00:43] But it's also kind of ignorant of Nate to think that he has authority supersedes Ted's.

[01:00:48] 100% 100%. You know, like that's a totally ignorant thought of Nate's to think that

[01:00:54] that he has more authority than Ted does. But insecure people are just like that. You know,

[01:01:00] they want to test to see where they are to see if they do have any power and maybe they do think

[01:01:05] that they do have power in this situation. And they're reminded that they don't and then embarrassment

[01:01:11] comes in and then resentment comes in and anger comes in. You know, I mean, you see all of those

[01:01:16] tenants happening in this one scene, you know, and it's very, very, very nuanced. But

[01:01:23] I'm excited to see what other small moments we see building up to this final confrontation that

[01:01:29] he does have with Ted at the end of the season. And that confrontation, I actually went and

[01:01:35] watched that confrontation just because I wanted to be reminded of the things that Nate said,

[01:01:41] because I wanted to be able to keep an eye out for it as I was watching. So that's a good

[01:01:45] pickup, the fact that he you can kind of see him feel a little undermined. Right. And which

[01:01:51] leads us into it. But the other thing I noticed too, when I went and I watched that is in the finale,

[01:01:57] we see, you know, now in the premiere, we saw it in the finale last season and then in the premiere of

[01:02:02] this one, how Nate is wearing the suit and the shirt and tie underneath in the finale before Nate,

[01:02:11] when they go out on the field, Nate's wearing a full suit. He's not wearing Richmond colors

[01:02:16] at all. He's wearing a black suit and tie. He has distanced himself from the team.

[01:02:23] And it is before he even goes off on Ted. He is wearing that. He has shed his skin

[01:02:32] at that point. Yeah, he's literally at that point, at that point, because he had the game winning,

[01:02:39] the game winning play, and he was the wunderkind or whatever.

[01:02:46] You know, I think that in that moment, he's probably thinking he is the coach. He is top dog. You know,

[01:02:52] this is his team. And that's the delusion, right? Delusions of grander. That's, that's, you know,

[01:02:59] Nate is completely off the rails at that point. Yeah. Like I said, like taking off, not wearing the

[01:03:05] AFC uniform or coaching uniform, Nate shed his skin. He's become the snake underneath.

[01:03:12] I'm wondering if, and I might go back and check if in the final episode of season three, the

[01:03:18] final episode of the series, if he is in just a regular. He's back to kit clothes.

[01:03:26] Right back to kit clothes, but no suit underneath is what I'm saying.

[01:03:29] If I remember correctly, there's not he is back to, because I think he is a kit man again.

[01:03:36] He's a kit man, but for that final game, he actually is promoted back to assistant coach.

[01:03:42] Is he? Because I don't remember him being promoted back to coach.

[01:03:45] I do. Okay. No, fair enough. I probably just probably forgot. Yeah.

[01:03:51] Um, let's, let's talk about the, the elephant in the room. There's one line in this episode

[01:04:00] that the moment I heard it, I was like, holy shit. Do it, do it. And it is the line when Ted is

[01:04:07] talking to beard, when he says, hold on, I, because I have it, I think I have it written down exactly

[01:04:14] what he says. Um, oh, no, I don't have it written down, but he makes mention that the therapist,

[01:04:23] that him and Michelle go to for marriage counseling is a therapist. Michelle has already been seeing

[01:04:30] for a while. This whole thing with her ending up dating that therapist, knowing now, because I

[01:04:39] don't think I ever picked up on that the first time that Michelle had already been seeing this

[01:04:44] therapist. Yeah. That was her therapist. That wasn't their marriage therapist. See,

[01:04:48] I thought it was just their marriage there. No. This whole thing makes her dating him even more

[01:04:56] disgusting. Agreed. So to anybody who sent us feedback, Greg,

[01:05:03] they almost said Greg at the same time as you defending like that relationship or whatever.

[01:05:11] This was planned. No, fuck that. This doctor broke up their marriage to be with her. Yeah.

[01:05:18] I don't care what anybody says. He is the reason they are not married. Yes. I 100% agree. Yeah,

[01:05:27] absolutely. And, and he said, I felt like I was being set up. Well, you were being set up. Yeah.

[01:05:33] You were 100% being set up. And so the fact that he even, he came to England, he took her to Paris,

[01:05:40] he like, of course, he knows all this about her too, because she's probably said, my dream is to go

[01:05:47] to Paris in, in therapy. You know, Ted never took me to Paris. Probably not only that, but like,

[01:05:53] it's just disgusting as a therapist. Oh, it's, it's all kinds of wrong. He could have reported him.

[01:06:01] Ted could have reported him and he could have lost his license. Yeah. And he is damn lucky that Ted

[01:06:06] is the person that he is. Yeah. And how many times does this even happen? I'm sure this happens a lot,

[01:06:13] which is even grosser. Yeah. It's like a teacher dating a student. So unethical. Yeah, it's, it's

[01:06:21] unethical is like the least word. It's like, it's fucking disgusting. But like, yes, I like,

[01:06:28] I don't care what anybody says now at this point, defending Michelle or anything like that. Like,

[01:06:34] this, this doctor, and I don't even remember the doctor's name now at this point, because I choose

[01:06:39] Dr. Who gives a fuck. Exactly. The seeds were planted by him that this, they should have gone

[01:06:48] to a completely different therapist for marriage. Yeah. Because this guy undermined Ted the whole

[01:06:55] time. Ted's fear and rationale that he felt like he was being undermined is 100% valid.

[01:07:03] And you can see why he is so upset and jumpy around Dr. Sharon. Yeah. Yeah. His life was smashed to

[01:07:12] pieces by this therapist of Michelle's. And now he has something that he is building,

[01:07:19] something he believes in, something that he is spearheading. And what happens,

[01:07:24] therapist comes in and starts fixing things. This is his marriage again. Mm hmm. I, it's, it's just,

[01:07:32] when you know the whole story and you watch this again, you're totally team Ted. Yeah. You know,

[01:07:38] 100% watching. And I love it because we're watching it through the lens of Ted this entire time.

[01:07:47] And I just, I'm so glad that it is, that the show is from his perspective. It's not from

[01:07:54] Beards. It's not from Nates. It's not from, you know, even Rebecca's. It is strictly from Ted's

[01:08:00] point of view. And that I think is why the show works as well as it does. Yeah.

[01:08:08] I apologize to Greg for calling him out because I know I'll hear it, but it's fine.

[01:08:16] Greg, I love you, but you were dead wrong in that. Please don't stop sending feedback.

[01:08:21] It is, it is just, when I heard that line, that kind of just snapped in me, like, it's, it snapped

[01:08:30] a realization in me like, yeah, this guy's been undermining their marriage the whole time. This

[01:08:37] guy has been planting seeds. He, he saw a woman who was his patient that he grew an interest in,

[01:08:45] to undermine that marriage so that he could date this woman. Right.

[01:08:53] So sorry. If that was, Kristin was, Kristin was so unnerved by it that her microphone just fell

[01:08:57] over. It did. This fell right over. So the moment I brought that up, I was like, I know Kristin's

[01:09:05] gonna want to talk about this deal. Yeah, of course. It was like one of my first notes.

[01:09:10] It's what I've been talking about. Yeah. So yeah, that was, it's a little unnerving, but

[01:09:17] like, I'm standing by it now. Like, no. Yeah. Every time I see his stupid face, I get mad.

[01:09:28] I agree. Yep. So, uh, all right. So we are now officially back from spoilers.

[01:09:37] Let's talk about the quotes because there's a lot of them. There's a number of quotes that I just

[01:09:43] couldn't help laugh at. I'm starting right from the beginning. The first quote in this,

[01:09:49] in this episode that made me laugh was right after Danny kicks the kick and kills poor Earl Greyhound

[01:09:57] and Nate is just, oh my God, I promise that's not what I wished for.

[01:10:02] I mean, it goes to opening credits.

[01:10:07] Oh, God. I really enjoyed the one where Ted walks in to Rebecca's office and Rebecca wanted

[01:10:17] Keeley to be there and he goes, I haven't seen someone that disappointed to see me since I

[01:10:20] wore a red ball cap to a Planned Parenthood fundraiser. I have that as one of mine as well.

[01:10:28] Yeah. Like, you like poke and fun at conservatives so much in that life.

[01:10:32] Not conservatives, but maggots. Yeah, maggots. Yeah, because there are conservatives out there

[01:10:39] that are normal, decent human beings. Normal, decent human beings. Yes. And then there are maggots.

[01:10:46] I mentioned the Miss Bowen quote already. You mentioned that one.

[01:10:51] So, there's a little bit of a nod in this episode through a line. And I wonder if,

[01:10:56] how many people pick up on it because of the nod is.

[01:11:00] There's the, when Rebecca, when Ted first walks into Rebecca's office the first time and Higgins

[01:11:06] and Keeley, they're all in there having drinks. And he comes in and says, howdy, y'all. And everybody's

[01:11:11] like, Ted, that is absolutely a nod to Cheers. Yep. And Norm, because George Went is Jason

[01:11:20] Sudeikis his uncle. Seriously? Yes. George Went who plays Norm in Cheers is Sudeikis his uncle

[01:11:30] in real life. You seem shocked by this. I never knew that. Yeah. That George Went and Jason Sudeikis

[01:11:43] are related. Trying to put those two together. I can't. Like, what recessive gene went wrong.

[01:11:50] I just, there's, I cannot put those two together. But that is a total nod to Cheers and Norm.

[01:11:58] Okay. Oh, I love that. Because of their relation. I love that. That's awesome.

[01:12:03] I also like in that scene, Danny's a lot like an expensive tape measure. He snaps right back quick.

[01:12:08] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He snaps right back quick. I do like that. Yeah. I've said a lot of my quotes already.

[01:12:16] Um, let's see. What are some of the other ones? You mentioned that one.

[01:12:21] We mentioned the pricks. I know I have more. Um, Ted says when, when, when Ted walks into Rebecca's

[01:12:29] office door in the, the conversation of girl talk and he's like, oh, I wish you were Keeley and Ted's

[01:12:34] like, I wish I was Keeley three or four times a day. Three or four times a day.

[01:12:39] I love, I love when they're talking, when Ted and Roy or Ted and coach are talking,

[01:12:47] Ted and beer and talking about something and nobody understands them and Ted turns the

[01:12:51] coaches like sometimes living here's like living in a foreign country. Yeah. Which is so funny

[01:12:57] because they aren't a foreign country. I know. But which is the joke. I, I realize that. But it's,

[01:13:02] it's funny that, you know, we were like, Oh, you speak English there? Then you're just like us.

[01:13:07] No, no, very not true. Um, I do like the, the one where I said, hold on a second,

[01:13:14] his name is John Wingsnight, like at a sports bar, like Monday night's Wingsnight down at PJ

[01:13:19] Flats like that. Ted, would you please stop? Rule number one, even though it's called girl talk,

[01:13:24] sometimes needs to be more like girl, listen. Yeah. Um, the other, I have two more. Um, they both

[01:13:32] happen in the same scene. Actually, they're pretty back to back. Um, oh, no, there's a couple

[01:13:36] from this scene because I have another one too. Um, shame what happened to Earl, him and his owner

[01:13:42] Nigel used to come in here all the time. Then he started shitting and pissing all over the place.

[01:13:46] Yeah, that's pretty common with older dogs. No, I'm talking about Nigel.

[01:13:53] Oh, that love may. Um, and then immediately following, uh, was hate coach. Can I get real

[01:13:59] a second? Forget my meal a second, put down your beer and tell your buddy how you feel a second.

[01:14:06] But my other favorite line from that scene too is, um, beer talking to tennis says,

[01:14:12] do you remember what you said when I got dumped by that cruise ship dancer? And I said, I would

[01:14:16] never date another dancer again. Can I have your tap shoes? Oh, I'm going to sneeze again. Oh, well,

[01:14:26] fair enough. Get it out. Nice. Sorry. Um, I do like, we've got a situation coach. He's underselling.

[01:14:35] We have a Shakespearean fucking tragedy. That's a good one too. Well, a lot more stumped

[01:14:40] in Paul Bunyan's local forest. Uh, let's see. Uh, wow, we're watching the end of someone's career.

[01:14:47] Not now, Jan. Not now, Jan. Is Tom Cruise with a little ponytail? No, I think you're thinking about

[01:14:54] the last samurai. He's got a little tiny ponytail magnolia too. Coach, thank you coach. My apologies,

[01:14:59] Annie. Tom Cruise was rocking a little tiny ponytail and booked those films.

[01:15:04] There's a, there, this isn't really a quote, but there is another nod to another movie in this

[01:15:08] episode. And it's a movie that it's like, it's not a great movie, but I love the nod to it.

[01:15:15] It's the scene where they're trying to, before they bring in Dr. Sharon, Ted pools Danny aside,

[01:15:23] and it's when they're walking over to the corner. That's right when you said that line. Um,

[01:15:28] and he tells Danny, like, you know, kick this corner, kick it, help you get comfortable.

[01:15:32] And he kind of steps forward a little bit and kind of off the side. And it's the scene where

[01:15:36] Danny kicks the ball and hits Ted in the air. Hilarious, hilarious, but he says to Danny,

[01:15:41] like be the ball, Danny, be the ball. That is a total nod to catty shack two.

[01:15:47] Which again, is not a great movie at all. Is it not a great movie like the Last Supper is not a

[01:15:54] great movie? Oh God. Uh, no, because I will watch catty shack two again. Hey, you watch Last Supper

[01:16:03] twice. All right. I know. Oh man, we'll talk about that in recommendations. Um,

[01:16:11] um, any quote, any more quotes or anything, anything we've said most of them.

[01:16:19] All right. Let's dive into some feedback then for the episode in which we got a couple.

[01:16:25] Uh, we got some stuff from Facebook. We got a couple, we got an email and a couple of voicemails

[01:16:30] as well. So let's start with some of the, uh, the Facebook feedback. Um, I'll kick it off with

[01:16:38] the first one and then you can go into the second one. That one. Yeah. Uh, so the first one comes from

[01:16:43] Kirk Manley, which I'm very excited to see Kirk leave feedback for the podcast, which is great.

[01:16:48] Thank you, Kirk. Kirk is an amazing artist. Who I recommend you check out if you have an

[01:16:53] opportunity. Uh, but Kirk says Ted Lasso might just be the best TV ever produced in my opinion.

[01:17:00] Uh, season one was better, I think than season two, but I enjoyed them both more than any other

[01:17:05] TV I can remember. Watching the show always made me want to work harder at being a good person,

[01:17:10] a positive person, and someone who supports others. I'm sure I'm failing epically. Uh,

[01:17:17] but it was nice to be motivated that way by a piece of art. Hope you guys have a blast casting

[01:17:23] about season two. I will try to check out some episodes, uh, signed, uh, AKA, Kirk Manley.

[01:17:30] Thank you, Kirk. I very much, and I have a piece of his artwork, actually, um,

[01:17:35] I do too in my house. So yeah, I do as well. I know a number of our friends have some Kirk Manley

[01:17:41] uh, artwork, which is good. Yes, I only have one. Um, but I love it. And I'm still trying to

[01:17:48] figure out how to get it framed because it's, uh, the walker stalker, um, from when we were all

[01:17:52] there the last time we were all there. Um, um, like 2018, 2019, something like that.

[01:17:58] But, um, it's two pieces that go together into one. And it's really, really nice. So I want to

[01:18:05] get a nice double frame for it, where it's like kind of close together, but still separated and

[01:18:09] matted. I think it'll be really nice, but I'm gonna have to go to Michaels and have a custom made

[01:18:15] and yeah, probably. Yeah. And that just gets pricey. Yes. Yes. I mean, trust me, I have a whole wall

[01:18:23] of artwork. So I've spent my share of Michaels frames, but most of the stuff is already like

[01:18:29] customs. It's already like pre size. So I haven't had to do the custom thing yet. Yeah. Mine is mine

[01:18:35] will be that that particular one, the way that I want it framed will have to be custom.

[01:18:41] So I have so much artwork. I haven't even framed yet. Um, that is pretty much sitting here waiting

[01:18:48] for my studio to be like a permanent fixture in my apartment. Yeah. So when that happens,

[01:18:53] there will be so much more artwork going up. But anyway, we're getting up. You digress. Yeah,

[01:18:58] I digress. All right, Lindsey schlick. Hi, Lindsey. It speaks how much it speaks to how much I love

[01:19:06] this show when an episode can include dog death. And I don't immediately turn it off and say,

[01:19:11] never again, girl, I am with you. I almost turned off John Wick. Um, but I didn't. You did well in

[01:19:20] knots. Yeah. Because that is if you are an animal person, you need to watch John Wick.

[01:19:27] Okay. Sorry. I still hated it, but at least I could also continue watching red baseball cap to a

[01:19:33] Planned Parenthood fundraiser almost made me choke on my coffee. These little one liners are gold.

[01:19:40] A few more hints of Nate's nasty side in this episode. Besides Rupert, he's the one character

[01:19:45] on the show I really just don't care for. Roy's don't you dare settle for fine. It's one of the

[01:19:50] best speeches of the series. I love Rebecca's shocked look. Keely was definitely impressed too.

[01:19:56] Roy is absolutely my favorite character. You know, I agree, Lindsey, I think that that speech is

[01:20:03] one of one of the best, if not the best speech of the series. Because I think it's really a call to

[01:20:09] action for a lot of women is that so many women settle because we have been conditioned to think

[01:20:15] that we're not going to be any good without, you know, a man or a partner. And I love it that in

[01:20:23] recent years, women are breaking out of that mold. And I think that that's really great

[01:20:28] to see. However, there's still a lot of that stigma that's left. Um, you know, my daughter,

[01:20:34] the other day, we're driving and we were talking about Disney movies and she goes,

[01:20:37] Mom, I have not seen like any Disney Disney movies. I go because most of them are princesses

[01:20:43] that are told that they cannot amount to anything unless they find their prints. And I started saying,

[01:20:48] you know, Snow White has us some day my prints will come. Um, I think that that's what it is. Yeah,

[01:20:55] I'm wishing for the one I love to find me. You know, you have Cinderella who, you know, is in a bad

[01:21:01] way until her Prince Charming comes and whisks her away with a glass slipper. I said, you know,

[01:21:05] that's just garbage. Um, you know, you saw frozen because frozen was about sisters. You saw

[01:21:11] tangled because tangled was about a woman who got out of her own mess. You know, you love,

[01:21:17] you love Star Wars because Princess Leia is a boss. And she looks at me and she goes,

[01:21:24] thank you so much for never showing me those movies. And I was like, yes.

[01:21:29] And I was, it's funny because when you were talking about all these different movies,

[01:21:32] I really do agree with you. I think frozen is really the one that kind of broke the stigma a

[01:21:36] little bit because there's even a lot of four frozen and tangled is higher on the list than frozen

[01:21:42] for me. I love tangled. Oh, tangled is, I think my favorite. I tell people all the time tangled is

[01:21:48] better than frozen. I mean, I can watch tangled over and I have, I have tangled was the one DVD that

[01:21:56] we had in our car. So I love, I love that movie. I mean, I like that. I'm a big,

[01:22:03] exactly by fan. So like that was what drew me to it. But well, and Mandy Moore is perfect.

[01:22:07] Mandy Moore is great for it. But but yeah, like those two movies really broke the stigma.

[01:22:12] I mean, there's even a line in, in frozen where, you know, after Anna meets Hans,

[01:22:17] like, and like Elsa tells her, like, you don't have to marry the guy that you just met. Like,

[01:22:23] like those movies really broke the stigma about it. And then even

[01:22:29] she's not really a princess, but there's a scene in Ralph breaks the internet with,

[01:22:37] I think the character's name is Penelope. Yeah, I only see that movie once.

[01:22:42] There's a scene where she's in the room with all the Disney princesses. Yeah. And it's,

[01:22:48] it's hysterical. Yeah, I do remember that. I do. Even, I mean, even Jasmine from Aladdin was,

[01:22:55] you know, I mean, she was the first one that I think was like, I don't need no man, but she did.

[01:23:02] You know, she still did in the end. Yeah, she still did in the end. Yes. She needed to be saved,

[01:23:07] you know, and I just, it's years of that kind of conditioning for girls. And so it's nice to see

[01:23:16] that everywhere you look, women are now, women and girls are being empowered to be their own

[01:23:22] people and to, and to take charge of their own identities. And I think that this speech really

[01:23:27] resonates with that. And he's saying this to two very strong women and these women feel empowered

[01:23:34] and they also see that they have, they have people around them that take up for their cause. And it's

[01:23:42] not a very in-your-face kind of speech about that per se, but it is at the same time. And Roy,

[01:23:49] or Bernstein, Stan, no, Carl, no, Ron. What do you, what is, what is Roy Kent's name?

[01:24:04] Oh, Brett Goldstein. Oh, thank you, Brett Goldstein. Oh my gosh. I was like, what are you getting at?

[01:24:09] A brain fart on that one. But Brett Goldstein just delivers that speech with such perfection.

[01:24:15] So I'm, I agree, Lindsey. Basically, that was my really, really long version of saying, yes, girl.

[01:24:24] Which speaking of Brett Goldstein, I am incredibly excited because he has been touring for a while.

[01:24:32] And I audibly yelled when I found out he was coming to my area. Oh, I got a ticket.

[01:24:38] Jill got tickets. I know she did. Because she asked, she's like, when's your show? And

[01:24:42] she's like, my show's in March. I'm like, well, mine's in January. So, and it sold out

[01:24:49] within, I think, in like two or three hours, it sold out. And so much so that they added a second show.

[01:24:59] Good. Which, look, I'm going to give you a little insight to stuff like that when they say like,

[01:25:06] oh, sold out so fast, so much popular to make me already a second show. That second show was

[01:25:11] already on the schedule. They just didn't announce it because they want to make sure that first show

[01:25:18] sells out. Yeah. Very. They weren't just going to be like, hey, it's so popular, Brett. Can you do

[01:25:24] another show? No, it was already there. So it, uh, yeah.

[01:25:38] Dog was sitting here just scratching at the door and barking the whole time. I didn't even hear

[01:25:43] the dog barking. That's good. Then my micro, my, you know, eight year old microphone is doing really well.

[01:25:48] All right. Um, okay. All right. So we still have an email as well. I'm going to let you do this one

[01:25:58] too. Okay, because it's from my husband. Yes. Okay. All right. So this one is from Dave. You hear

[01:26:07] about him a lot. Okay. He says greetings all before we get into get goodbye Earl. I wanted to

[01:26:12] mention something I noticed while listening to the season one finale when Jamie holds his army

[01:26:17] man that he's got along with the note from Ted. We see it's the one with binoculars.

[01:26:21] I believe Ted chose this one for Jamie because the one with binos is most likely the lieutenant,

[01:26:27] the leader of the pack of army men. He has a sidearm, not a rifle, and he's looking and he's

[01:26:32] holding the binos. I think it's indicative of Ted's desire and belief that Jamie can be a leader,

[01:26:37] just my two cents. I see that on to goodbye Earl. Nate is a great example of what happens to some

[01:26:46] people when they get a little juice, they treat people below them like shit. As Sirius Black said,

[01:26:51] if you want to know what a man is like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors,

[01:26:56] not his equals. Of course, Sirius goes on to verbally abuse, abuse,

[01:27:01] creature, the house elf, but still, Nate is such a dick to will. We're starting to see who he really

[01:27:07] is. Love the intro of yawn, the Dutch player, who is a dick, who is a dick, not a dick. Keep up the

[01:27:13] strong work. I love that we're finally like, I know Dave's a huge fan of huge fan of Ted Lasso.

[01:27:22] Huge fan, yeah. And I love that he's like actually listening to us now and he's starting to leave

[01:27:27] feedback. It's, you know, it's fun. He's totally into it. Like, as much as he didn't like lost,

[01:27:32] he loves lasso. Like loves lasso. Yeah. Last night. Last night, I was just as an aside,

[01:27:41] I was talking to another teacher at my old school that I just stopped working where I just stopped

[01:27:49] working. We were at a basketball game and we were talking about cruise lines. I said, yeah, my mom

[01:27:54] is on a cruise and she went on the Oceana cruise, right? Oceana. And she goes, oh, I don't go on

[01:28:01] anything that's named anything close to Oceanic. I go, oh, yeah, Oceana 815. I go if it was Oceana

[01:28:07] cruise line, I'd go on going for 815, 16, 22, like over and over while like blasting it all

[01:28:15] with holy water. She goes, okay, just the fact that you just said all those things, you're my new

[01:28:19] favorite person. And I said, and so Danny's sitting next to me, she goes, you should listen to her lost

[01:28:24] podcast. And she looks at me, she goes, you have a podcast, Danny has turned into my hype man.

[01:28:31] That's awesome. I would, man, if there was an Oceana cruise line, I would go on it too,

[01:28:36] but I would purposely make sure my cabin number was one of the numbers.

[01:28:41] Oh, well, I think that I think that a lot of people would feel that way. Like a lost themed

[01:28:48] cruise ship would be phenomenal. Yeah, I would go smoke monster that comes out like every day at the

[01:28:56] same hour. It's just a fog machine. Like, yeah, just like a fog like tinted fog. Everybody comes

[01:29:02] in with like, it looks like Mascara's running down like their face all the time.

[01:29:07] I would go on that. I would go on that. But thank you to Dave and Lindsey and of course,

[01:29:15] cork, cork, cork. You messed it up. You're stupid.

[01:29:20] It.

[01:29:27] But we have a couple of voicemails to play as well, starting first with Jason. So let's play that now.

[01:29:36] He starts with, I've been in Kristin. This is Jason in San Jose and I am back finally to leave

[01:29:43] feedback for season two of Ted Lasso. I've been easing up on my recording schedule for my weekly

[01:29:48] recovery podcast during the holidays and consequently, recording feedback for the

[01:29:54] revisited podcast. Life has been quite hectic at work and at home. And in all honesty, I have

[01:30:00] been dealing with a lot of depression and anxiety lately, thankfully, none of which is tied to the

[01:30:08] holidays. And by the way, I did watch Hannah wadding in home for Christmas and hope to hear

[01:30:15] your thoughts on the show. So before we're getting to this week's episode, I did want to

[01:30:19] comment on the last few from season one. Ted Lasso has been one of those go to shows for me

[01:30:26] when I'm feeling the anxiety creep back in. So I am so grateful to be rewatching this now.

[01:30:33] I did also want to talk about Rebecca's arc in season one. I love the episode All Apologies

[01:30:40] and this really ties into 12 step recovery in making amends for our harms caused. And that is

[01:30:46] steps eight and nine. It was so incredibly touching to hear Ted say, I forgive you. That was so

[01:30:54] beautiful. And yeah, that moment brought some tears to my eyes. And after watching the finale a

[01:31:00] few weeks ago, I just had to watch the first few minutes of season two, and was really hoping to

[01:31:06] lead feedback for that. But like I had mentioned, I wasn't really filling up to being behind the

[01:31:11] microphone and providing feedback to get that recorded on time. So I am here this week with

[01:31:19] goodbye Earl. My wife and I had just gotten into the show and binge the first season a week before

[01:31:27] season two was about to start. And so we watched season two episode by episode. And this one was a

[01:31:35] great way to ease back into the story. And I just felt so sorry for Danny Rojas. Anyway,

[01:31:43] I love the new edition of Dr. Sharon to the team and the way therapy will play out over the season

[01:31:50] and no spoilers here. But yeah, it was interesting for me rewatching this, seeing Ted's reaction to

[01:31:58] adding a therapist. And the first time I had watched it, I didn't really take into consideration

[01:32:04] that his wife was having an affair with their therapist. And that might cause some problems

[01:32:11] in Ted's mind. But on this rewatch, it all of a sudden made sense. And I love the way that Dr. Sharon

[01:32:18] addressed Ted asking him if he was good at his job. And her reply that she is twice as good at hers.

[01:32:27] I really love the dynamics between these two. I cannot wait to move on to the rest of season

[01:32:33] two. I'm really looking forward to it. Every watch this season once before. And it has been a while.

[01:32:40] So I'm excited to see what's coming up. So until then, this has been Jason and San Jose. Namaste,

[01:32:50] baby.

[01:32:56] Thank you for that, Jason. And yeah, we talked a little bit about that already about seeing things

[01:33:01] a little differently now hearing that conversation with coach with Ted and Beard in the pub about

[01:33:07] his being feeling like railroaded with the therapy. So it's nice to see other people are seeing that

[01:33:14] now too. He was being set up. He felt he was being set up. Yeah. Jason, I love that Jason's

[01:33:23] feedbacks are always like many podcasts. I will say, and I'll send this to Jason separately as well.

[01:33:30] But I'm sure Jason will hear it this way. That feedback was a little longer. It was almost like

[01:33:35] twice the length. But he did give us permission to kind of edit some stuff out. And I want to say

[01:33:40] to Jason, I did listen to the section that we cut out. He talked a little bit about I mentioned last week

[01:33:45] the speech that David Dremen from Disturbed gives during his concert about being alone and depression

[01:33:52] and such. So that didn't make it into the episode. I apologize for that, Jason, but I did listen to it.

[01:33:59] I appreciate the fact that you sent that over. We just try and keep the feedbacks to

[01:34:05] usually two to three minutes, Max, just to kind of get through them a little bit quicker.

[01:34:10] Yes. But that does leave us with one more voice mail. And of course, that comes from our friend

[01:34:16] Steve Brown and his live Steveings that he is. So let's go ahead and play that now.

[01:34:23] Hello, Ben and Kristen. This is Steve and this is going to be for Ted Lasso, season two,

[01:34:28] episode one. Ooh, that opening on Nate's face. Wow. Interesting. Which would be more important

[01:34:34] to the team to get that first win or to tie the record for the draws. I don't know. Think of

[01:34:40] wins. They made Michael Jordan cry. Is he saying the Hail Mary in Spanish? Is that what

[01:34:46] Danny Rojas is praying here in the shower? He's just being dutch. Oh, easy Nate. You

[01:34:51] have to be so hard on what's the new kid's name, Colin? Well, that's his name. Ted just said it.

[01:34:57] I don't mean to make light of the dog's passing because it's bad. But did we ever see this dog in

[01:35:03] the first season? Roy's coaching the girls football team. I forgot about that. The VB is keeping a

[01:35:10] record of Roy's cursing. Okay. I don't know what British money is. How many quid are in a pound?

[01:35:18] Because she just said, you owe me one quid and then it's 1,236 pounds.

[01:35:23] Ted is not very good at girl talk. Ever seen Magnolia? But I haven't seen the last Samurai. So

[01:35:28] Tom Cruise of the ponytail? Yeah. Ted just said to Danny, be the ball.

[01:35:33] Settle catty shack reference there. Oh, Nate. I really pick it up on this Nate being kind of

[01:35:39] aggressive here in this confab between the coaches and Leslie. They can't say the why word. And then

[01:35:45] as Ted is saying, yeah, let's do it. He's also shaking his head. No. He referencing Roy's retirement

[01:35:50] speech. And I don't remember. Do we ever get to actually see his retirement speech? I don't

[01:35:54] remember. Yes. The answer to that question would come in spoiler section. So I'll wait for a spoiler

[01:35:58] section. I love the quick little Jim blossoms explanation. Hey, GLS is there their best song

[01:36:03] would follow you down is my favorite of the little little hints into Beards backstory that we get

[01:36:08] that he dated a cruise dancer, a cruise ship dancer. And oh, yeah. Now he's dated too many.

[01:36:13] Roy, don't you dare settle for fine. Oh, no, this is difficult or not. But Nate just said

[01:36:17] the record is 1,236. Wasn't that the same amount of pounds that Roy owed Phoebe? Looks like Danny

[01:36:22] was back after just one session. Oh, how many languages does this doctor speak? French and Spanish

[01:36:27] and English. That's right. I forgot Jamie's on this reality show. Right. On to next week.

[01:36:34] I love when Steve picks up on a bunch of stuff that we talked about. I do. We get like,

[01:36:40] by the time we get to this part and listening, most of his questions have already been answered.

[01:36:45] Which is great. Yeah. Because we don't have to discuss it. That's true.

[01:36:51] He did mention, I don't think we talked about it, but he did mention the the the Jim blossoms

[01:36:56] thing with follow you down or Hey, jealousy, which are two great songs by the Jim blossoms.

[01:37:02] The Jim blossoms Jim blossoms and collective soul. Collective soul was great.

[01:37:09] The collective school soul is still is still great. So great. I almost knocked my water over.

[01:37:14] Yeah. I'm I miss really good 90s alternative music.

[01:37:20] Serious XM lithium V best worth everything.

[01:37:24] I I have serious and I don't listen to it nearly as much as I should.

[01:37:27] Channel 37's lithium. They do go through these phases where they seem to only play like a lot of

[01:37:35] REM and we're just like guys, guys, come on, enough with the REM.

[01:37:41] I enjoy REM, but yeah, every once in a while.

[01:37:47] For all of you at home, Kristin just shot me a look.

[01:37:51] Very good at my looks.

[01:37:53] But apparently it was the kind of look that speaks. Why?

[01:38:02] That friends was supposed to be call was supposed to have their original theme song was to be

[01:38:08] REM's shiny happy people. That wouldn't work. Of course it wouldn't have that would not

[01:38:14] work. But every time I hear that song, I always think this was supposed to be the friend's theme

[01:38:18] song because nowhere in shiny happy people do you get exactly. And if you can't clap five times,

[01:38:26] then why are you watching? Four times. It's four times. I just did it.

[01:38:33] But thank you everybody for the feedback for this week's episode, which we encourage you guys

[01:38:37] to leave. Easiest way to do that is go to revisitedpod.com. There you can find links on everything where

[01:38:43] to subscribe, listen, social media, all that fun stuff. Or you can just email us directly feedback

[01:38:48] at revisitedpod.com. We are going to next week because this episode because episodes always release

[01:38:59] on Monday. Next Monday is Christmas Day. So we will not be doing another episode of Ted Lasso

[01:39:08] but we are bringing you an episode of the podcast in that as Jason had mentioned during his his

[01:39:14] feedback, it is going to be like a little revisited podcast Christmas special in which Kristin and I

[01:39:21] are going to give you our thoughts on how to wanting Tim's Christmas special. So it's going to be a

[01:39:28] nice short little episode. We're not going to do listener feedback for it, but it's going to release

[01:39:34] on Christmas Day. We're going to take a little bit of a break from that and give you a little bit of a

[01:39:38] break from having to watch Ted Lasso or leave his feedback. Yes, it's just so stressful having to

[01:39:45] watch Ted Lasso every week. My heart just can't take all the joy. But the following Monday is New

[01:39:52] Year's Day in which we will be bringing you another episode of Ted Lasso. We're going to be talking

[01:39:57] about season two, episode two, Lavender. So feel free to leave us feedback for that episode

[01:40:06] which you have two weeks to get us feedback for it. So do it. So do it. No excuse. You get two weeks.

[01:40:13] Leave us your New Year's resolutions. Ooh, that's not a bad idea

[01:40:20] because it'll be New Year's Day. I need inspiration. Okay, fair enough. Other than I need to lose some

[01:40:26] weight, which I do. That's almost everybody's resolution constantly. I'm still carrying a lot of

[01:40:34] my COVID weight. You and me both. I'm I've gotten to the point where I even posted this on social

[01:40:43] media. I think I'm to the point in my life where I might just accept it grow up my beard and become

[01:40:49] a Santa. Well, you already have like kind of a gray beard. So white beard. Your old is what I'm saying.

[01:41:04] Thank you for that. We're the same age. You're a year older than me. I'm a year older. It's the

[01:41:13] same age. It's not. No. It's basically the same. No, no. Recommendations for the week. We got,

[01:41:21] we'll do our normal recommendation and then of course our final holiday recommendation.

[01:41:26] Any normal regular recommendation for the week. So we just started watching a new show.

[01:41:32] We've only seen the first episode but so far so good. It is a British show starring Gary Oldman

[01:41:38] called Slow Horses, Slow Horse, Slow Horses. It's new, isn't it? There's three seasons.

[01:41:47] Oh, then it's not new. Yeah. But Gary Oldman plays a character that I have never seen him play

[01:41:54] before. He is this old alcoholic, very, very disgustingly sloppy leader of the reject pile of

[01:42:06] MI5. Like if you if you have messed up as an MI5 operative, you are sent to a slow house,

[01:42:17] slow house. It's spelled S-L-O-U-G-H house but they call it Slow Horses, the Slow Horse. And so

[01:42:27] it's like all of these rejects but one guy that is there is there because somebody threw him under

[01:42:36] the bus and he's actually a good agent among all of these terrible agents and this alcoholic,

[01:42:42] slovenly disgusting person, excuse for a person leader. And that's Gary Oldman who of course he

[01:42:50] plays this brilliantly. So it's Gary Oldman. It's Gary Oldman. I would watch him do anything

[01:42:57] honestly. Although I got to tell you, he's so gross in this that I feel like I can smell him

[01:43:02] and it's really screwing with me like a lot. That's method acting right there.

[01:43:08] Well, you'll see like his first scene really sets up how disgusting he is.

[01:43:15] Okay, all right. But anyways, I recommend it. I've only watched one one episode but

[01:43:21] it's enough for me to feel like I feel strong and recommending it was it was pretty solid pilot.

[01:43:28] Okay, all right. I might have to check it out then.

[01:43:31] My recommendation is a movie called The Last Supper. No, it's not.

[01:43:39] My recommendation actually is though Kristen and I do. It's the first one we've done in a while.

[01:43:45] We took a little bit of a break but we do over on the Wilhelm podcast. We do the

[01:43:51] the movie swap. And this last episode that we did is seriously one of the most fun episodes we

[01:44:01] have done in a long time. We laughed so much during this episode because we both hated the movies.

[01:44:13] So on on movie swap, if you haven't listened to it yet, is where Kristen and I give each other

[01:44:17] homework of a movie we've never seen before. I give her something she's never seen and she gives

[01:44:22] me something I've never seen. And for the first time, we both hated the movies that we're given to us.

[01:44:29] And the conversation that ensues is just

[01:44:34] chaos. It was an hour of chaos. We have not laughed that much during a podcast recording. So

[01:44:42] go over and check out that episode. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

[01:44:48] You will not. Even if you've never seen the movies, it's just fun to listen to us just

[01:44:54] trash each other's movies. Yeah. Wilhelmpodcast.com. Go over and listen to the latest episode of

[01:45:00] movie swap. It's absolutely hysterical. Christmas recommendations for the holidays.

[01:45:07] You go first. So I was actually just with friends last night and we were talking about our

[01:45:13] memories of seeing this movie. It's relatively new. It's only within like the last two years,

[01:45:17] I think. Yeah, 2021. But we talked about how much we all love this movie. It's a movie called

[01:45:22] eight bit Christmas. It starts Neil Patrick Harris. And it's basically it's a little bit of a modern

[01:45:30] a Christmas story in that it's Neil Patrick Harris and his daughter are going home for Christmas

[01:45:36] to his parents house. His daughter is like pressuring him to buy him or to buy her a cell phone.

[01:45:42] And it leads him into it leads into him telling the story to his daughter about him and his friends

[01:45:48] back in like the the 80s and 90s about how badly they wanted an original Nintendo NES.

[01:45:57] And how they banded together to raise money to buy a joint like jointly buy an NES. It is

[01:46:04] such a great family film. It's Neil Patrick Harris is great in it, but Steve Zahn is phenomenal.

[01:46:12] I love him. He played a killer gay ice dancer on Friends. Yes, yes, he did. But he plays Neil

[01:46:20] Patrick Harris's father's that Neil Patrick's character is character's father. And he's old enough

[01:46:26] to play Neil in the in the in the flashback. Got it. Thank you. I was like, wait a minute. Wait,

[01:46:33] stop of when he's telling the story of his childhood. Okay, he plays his dad. Okay, it's like a Christmas

[01:46:41] princess bride almost. Sort of. Yeah, maybe. But no, it's it's so incredibly well done. It's so

[01:46:49] heartfelt. It is just a great movie. So I ate bit Christmas is my holiday recommendation.

[01:46:56] Very nice. Very nice. What about me? What about me? I don't have anything. I

[01:47:07] hang on. You should watch. I don't know. I don't know. You know what? I tried to introduce my

[01:47:21] daughter to one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time a couple days ago. And I'm not sure

[01:47:26] that it really qualifies as a Christmas movie, but it does take place during Christmas at times

[01:47:31] in the movie. So I don't know. I always equate it with a Christmas movie, but it's the little

[01:47:37] princess with Shirley Temple. I don't know if you've ever seen it, but it's just this adorable movie.

[01:47:45] And Shirley Temple is fantastic in it. She plays this very spoiled little girl who goes to

[01:47:54] stay at this school while her father goes off to war. It's set in the 1800s, like 1899, I think,

[01:48:01] or something like that in in England. And what happens is is that he comes from a lot of money,

[01:48:11] so he just like showers the school with so much money just to keep her with her horse in this nice

[01:48:17] room and all the best stuff. But then he news comes that he actually died and there's no more money

[01:48:26] coming in. And so they throw Shirley Temple's character in the attic with the rest of the servants

[01:48:32] and she has to work at the school instead. Anyways, it's actually a really heartwarming,

[01:48:40] beautiful story. It sounds like it being locked in the attic. No, she gets to leave the attic

[01:48:48] to clean the rooms. Come on. Is this like a Christmas version of Flowers in the Attic? Like it's...

[01:48:53] No, just you have to watch it. It's very good. It's very good. Anyways,

[01:48:58] that movie I always equate with Christmas time, maybe because I always watched it at Christmas

[01:49:03] time. I don't know. Danny wasn't into it, so we had to turn it off. But I will watch the rest of

[01:49:08] it. I used to watch it every single year. Like it's a core memory movie for me.

[01:49:14] Yeah, so that movie. I love it. And what's it called again? The Little Princess.

[01:49:19] Okay. I think I actually have heard of that before. Somebody redid it.

[01:49:25] Okay. And the Shirley Temple version is just better because it's Shirley Temple and any Shirley

[01:49:30] Temple movie is magic to me. Okay. I was obsessed with Shirley Temple when I was a kid.

[01:49:37] I and you know, it's funny too how you say like you just equate it to Christmas because like the

[01:49:41] other movie that I watch on a regular basis around the holidays, it's not even to call it a Christmas

[01:49:48] movie is a stretch because it's literally maybe like the last five minutes of the movie. I think

[01:49:54] that that's Little Princess. Like it's like the last... The end of the movie is the only part of the

[01:49:59] movie that takes place at Christmas. But grumpy old men. That is such a good movie.

[01:50:06] I watch it every year around the holidays because like the end of the movie takes place at Christmas.

[01:50:11] The rest of the movie is it's just it's just in winter. Yeah, it's over like Thanksgiving and

[01:50:17] but that movie, man, the outtakes at the end of that movie are hysterical. With the old old man.

[01:50:23] Burgess Meredith. Yeah. Come on. I want to lay up. It's still hilarious to me.

[01:50:29] That's the second one when he's naming all the islands. Yeah. Yeah. That's grumpy old men.

[01:50:35] Grumpy old man is just as good as the first one. I love both of those movies and I love it that

[01:50:39] it was Walter Mathau and Jack Lemond. Jack Lemond. Yeah. The Odd Couple. The original Odd Couple.

[01:50:45] The original Odd Couple. Exactly. See, you get it. We get it. And I will say I did enjoy the reboot

[01:50:52] of the Odd Couple. Oh, me too. With Matthew Perry and oh why can't I think of his name?

[01:51:00] Wasn't it the two and a half men guy? No. No, that's John Cryer. Oh, no, no, no. It was the

[01:51:08] shoot. Hang on. It was it was Joey's hand model. Yeah, it was Joey's hand model in friends.

[01:51:16] Thomas Lennon. Tom Lennon. That's it.

[01:51:20] Yeah, it only ran for like I think like two season three seasons. Oh, but I didn't realize

[01:51:26] around that long. I didn't either. Oops. Sorry, buddy. Yeah, but no, that was that was good.

[01:51:33] Their chemistry was really good on screen too. Yeah. But Walter Mathau and Jack Lemond are just

[01:51:38] well Walter Mathau is the perfect hermajin. I mean, he's just wonderful in that role. Well, he was.

[01:51:44] And again, I watch it every Christmas. I just watched it the other night actually.

[01:51:48] Oh, that's awesome. Because it's again, it's a stretch to call it a Christmas movie.

[01:51:53] Yeah, but I still watch it at Christmas. Is this the last week we're doing

[01:51:59] Recommendations for Christmas movies? Yes. So honorable mentions, I would say would be

[01:52:05] Elf, of course. I love Elf so much. Home Alone 1. Home Alone 2 is better than Home Alone 1.

[01:52:11] Yes, it is. I agree. 100%. And Miracle on 34th Street, the original

[01:52:20] is still a favorite of mine. I like the the remade one, but the original in Black and White

[01:52:28] is just wonderful. And White Christmas, I grew up watching that movie as well.

[01:52:33] Okay. You know what? Then I'll throw a couple of recommended honorable mentions out there as well.

[01:52:38] Maybe some lesser known ones are ones that I think fly under the radar a little bit.

[01:52:43] Christmas with the Cranks with Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis is it's not a great movie,

[01:52:49] but the ending is one of, in my opinion, one of the most touching endings of any Christmas

[01:52:55] movie I've ever seen. What else is there? Let's see kind of off the beaten path. Well,

[01:53:04] just friends, I know how your feelings on Ryan Reynolds, but that movie always makes me laugh.

[01:53:11] The movie Jack Frost with Michael Keaton and Kelly Preston, where Michael Keaton's character

[01:53:18] turns into a snowman. I'm sorry, dies and comes back as a snowman. I think is a great movie.

[01:53:28] You mentioned Muppet Christmas Carol, obviously. Scrooge with Bill Murray is a great telling

[01:53:35] of a Christmas Carol. Let's see. The two kind of off the beaten pathlands that I will mention,

[01:53:42] and I'll wrap up my honorable mentions, are one trapped in paradise, which is Nick Cage,

[01:53:50] John Lovitz and Dana Carvey. What a cast. It is. They are, they are three brothers who

[01:53:59] rob a bank in a small Pennsylvania town. And because of the weather, end up getting trapped

[01:54:05] in the town. They can't get out. So they end up staying with a family. And the family, they end

[01:54:11] up staying with the family that brings them in is the family that owns the bank. Oh, my gosh.

[01:54:20] Who this family obviously has no idea that they're the people that robbed the bank. It is.

[01:54:26] That's awesome. It is. To me, it's such an underrated movie, just because of the cast in it and the

[01:54:34] fact of what? Like what's it called again? It's called trapped in paradise. Yeah, I'm gonna watch

[01:54:39] that too. Yeah, it's fun. And then the other off the beaten pathland that I will mention just because

[01:54:45] it's freaking raunchy. It's not really raunchy, but it's it's bad. And when I tell you the cast,

[01:54:51] you will know why it is Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, TJ, Office, Office party,

[01:54:57] Office Christmas party. Yep. Yep.

[01:55:00] Courtney B. Vance, Rob Cordury. Oh, Courtney B. Vance. He was in the Last Supper. Yes, he was.

[01:55:09] I love office Christmas party. It is just such a Bateman's another one of those guys that like I

[01:55:15] will give almost anything he does a shot. Especially if it comes with a red band trailer.

[01:55:21] That's like, okay, it's it's going to be good. So, so yeah, so as I mentioned, next week will be

[01:55:29] the revisited Christmas episode, which we're going to talk about Hannah Waddington's Christmas

[01:55:34] special. No need to leave feedback for that. But we have two weeks to leave us feedback for

[01:55:39] episode two lavender of Ted Lasso. But Mary Christmas, happy holidays to everybody who celebrates.

[01:55:49] Yes, yes, yes. I believe Hanukkah is over. It is over. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's over. I think it's

[01:55:59] over at this point. But from I'm sure I can speak for Kristen when I say have a great holiday,

[01:56:08] be safe, be well, and just enjoy the time with your loved ones that are around you.

[01:56:16] Yes. And I'm sure we will be doing the same thing. Maybe. Yeah. Any final notes before we head out?

[01:56:28] No, you I think you hit it all. There's a lot of ladybugs in my view right now, so.

[01:56:37] Okay. Yeah. I can't think of that away. That's my final note.

[01:56:42] Can't think of a better way to end it than ladybugs.

[01:56:46] So with that being said, thank you guys so much for everything. Thank you for being a part of this

[01:56:54] next episode of the Ted Lasso portion is on New Year's Day. So if you don't listen to the Christmas

[01:57:02] episode, have a safe New Year as well. But until then, we will see you guys out on the pitch.

[01:57:09] Take care. Namaste. Bye-bye. Transcription results written to '/home/forge/transcribe.sonicengage.com/releases/20240210005325' directory
