[00:00:00] Mmm?

[00:00:01] Ah!

[00:00:02] Hmm.

[00:00:03] That counts to go.

[00:00:06] What's happening?

[00:00:07] You having a meeting?

[00:00:08] Yep, I'm having lady problems.

[00:00:09] You know, I'd love to get your perspective on that.

[00:00:11] No!

[00:00:12] Ted, can I be honest with you?

[00:00:14] Come on, let her rip.

[00:00:15] You seem intent on going 12 rounds with yourself.

[00:00:19] Why?

[00:00:20] What did you do wrong?

[00:00:21] You're right.

[00:00:23] Time to get you some of these...

[00:00:25] What, scissors?

[00:00:26] Yeah, to cut Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This is my well. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:01:40] Yeah.

[00:01:41] Yeah.

[00:01:42] Yeah.

[00:01:43] Yeah.

[00:01:44] Yeah.

[00:01:45] Yeah.

[00:01:46] Yeah.

[00:01:47] Yeah.

[00:01:48] Yeah. But none of them go below like an 8.5 for me. No, actually, I mean, if you look at IMDB's rankings, I don't think any of them go below an 8. Even just season one, we have, no, the pilot was a 7.8, but that's a special, then you can listen to us talk about it. That's pretty much what it is. Yay. But I did. And it's almost Christmas time, so it's perfect. Yeah, and I did skim through it a little bit just to see who some of the special guests were. I'm not gonna spoil any of that. Okay. But there are some good ones.

[00:04:21] So I'm looking forward to watching the whole thing.

[00:04:22] And it's only like 45 minutes, so it's not like a...

[00:04:26] It's like a double episode.

[00:05:29] city. And it is there are a lot of special guests this year who do some pretty amazing performances in which, as I mentioned, Kristen and I just showed Kristen one before we started

[00:05:35] of Jason Sudeikis and Will Fort my favorite scenes. This is not one of.

[00:07:00] This is my favorite scene of the entire series of the show.

[00:07:04] Is this dark game? Seeing him just trying to come to grips with what he did, the fact that he's been up for three hours, so he's probably showered everything. He's packed and ready to go. He's got to go. Just sitting in the chair watching Sassy. So creepy.

[00:08:21] Waiting for her to wake up,

[00:08:24] which is some weird, oddly way, How exactly do I go from having a complete mental breakdown at the karaoke bar to signing my divorce papers to waking up with sassy? It's just like if you lay it out like that, that's a really weird night. That would go up in the charts until the Amsterdam episode as the weirdest night of my life.

[00:09:40] Yeah.

[00:09:41] Yeah.

[00:09:42] I agree completely because it's this year. Coach, someone your mind coach? No why? We just had a five hour bus ride where you didn't talk a lick and that's a record by about five hours. I'm gonna tell you something. Then I don't want

[00:11:02] to talk about it every year okay? Okay I'm serious. a big breakfast and put in your tab and he's like,

[00:12:20] well, that's a pro move right there.

[00:12:22] I don't think that she was joking.

[00:12:24] I think she was dead serious.

[00:12:25] Oh, I absolutely think she was dead serious.

[00:12:28] Right. really not intended, but appreciated. He's got he's now got this freedom, I think, to kind of go through this self discovery exploratory phase of his life now that, you know, not only is his marriage over, but he's in a totally different country, like he he can just be a little nutty

[00:13:41] if he wants to be a little nutty.

[00:13:43] Again, pun not intended.

[00:13:45] I'm sorry.

[00:14:46] to a different country, you know, experience new things, you know, start a new job, make new friends, and just basically start a new life. And Ted is doing that. Well, he has the opportunity now

[00:14:54] to do that. He has the freedom to choose that if he would like to do that. Absolutely. Absolutely.

[00:15:00] But you know, he's still Ted too. So he's now a member of the Diamond Dogs, he's had a vocal voice in coaching of the team, Nate still thinks of himself as nothing more than a kit man. Yes.

[00:16:20] And so he has this timbiness to him that you're right.

[00:16:22] He still has that fear that he's going to be forgotten

[00:16:26] and left behind.

[00:16:28] Yeah. But right now and season three is really good, good Nate, Nate time. Yeah, season two is the rough Nate time. Well, end of season two, first half of season three is like the, is like the really rough. Really difficult. It's really difficult when it comes to Nate. And you'll understand that when we, when we get to that point, if you're watching for the first time.

[00:17:42] Or you're nodding your head emphatically know, the other thing I didn't really think about until now, too, is that he's in the office.

[00:19:00] He's clutching onto that garbage can because he's still heaving.

[00:19:03] You have to realize as we heard in that clip, like it was a five hour drive home.

[00:20:01] with the team the night before.

[00:20:04] Well, he was doing them with Macadoo and Colin, who I'm sure can hold their own.

[00:20:05] Yeah, right.

[00:20:06] Yeah.

[00:20:07] So, you know, you just, we've all had those, those hangovers.

[00:20:12] We have all had those hangovers where the, where the toilets nice and cool

[00:20:18] on your cheek or the bathroom floor feels really good.

[00:20:24] All that.

[00:20:26] Those mornings.

[00:21:22] that when he wonders if he should confess to Rebecca that he slept with Keely.

[00:21:24] And he says, it would break my heart to find out

[00:21:26] she's hiding something for me.

[00:21:28] And then we get the Leslie gag, immediately afterwards,

[00:21:36] because he does, he gags every time

[00:21:38] he's in that awkward situation.

[00:21:40] Because he likes Ted, he loves Ted, who doesn't?

[00:21:44] Even Rebecca, despite And he loves jazz. And he loves jazz. So you're most people that are making shows these days, they should go in with this kind of an idea. You know, I mean, I love Stranger Things.

[00:24:22] I love Stranger Things.

[00:24:23] But the Duffer Brothers might have done themselves a huge disservice by going from their original They never wrote this show intending to win Emmys. And they basically swept Emmys every year they were nominated. It shows that hard work and pre-planning pays off. And just to kind of dive a little way ahead. But you're right. That's okay. But this is a really good, going back to Higgins. This is a really good Higgins episode, I think. I mean, he firmly cements himself as a member of the Diamond Dogs.

[00:27:04] He has a hilarious moment suggesting Proud Boys.

[00:28:05] friendship to help him find his voice that way.

[00:28:06] I agree with you completely. I don't think Leslie still would have been this meek,

[00:28:09] mannered like a like gopher or whipping boy,

[00:28:14] rather to Rebecca because he would have felt like he was,

[00:28:17] he was deserving of the punishment, but you're right.

[00:28:20] Like, and I love the fact that it's a callback to when Rebecca

[00:28:24] tell or when Kielly tells Rebecca fuck off a couple episodes She's had so much progress, especially in the last couple of episodes since for the children. And then you see that she hasn't really changed towards the end in that final conversation with Leslie. Yeah. I do have a little bit of a theory about that. So, I mean, well, again, we'll talk about the bar scene and the dark game and

[00:29:40] everything, but everything that happens in that dark game, I feel like, because

[00:29:43] she sees it as a moment, because she tells Leslie, like, Oh and embarrassed Ted, whether she understands that or not. I mean, she's like, she's still stuck on getting back at Rupert. Well, and I wanna kind of just maybe make a little bit of a correction and something that you said when you said that she hasn't changed who she is at her core. I feel like who she is at her core is the real Rebecca. She hasn't changed in her outer appearance.

[00:31:02] Okay, that's fair.

[00:31:03] Yes.

[00:31:04] And the quest that she is on.

[00:31:06] She's still a woman scorned. corner, but she is so singularly focused on getting one up on Rupert that she is burning everything down, that she's getting like, it's like, it's like you're, it's like you write a book and you're, you've put all this, well, that's a terrible metaphor blind to it is that when Rupert comes in with the new with Bex and you know makes the introduction, he even says at certain points like both before and during the dark game. Like I didn't think she would be willing to screw over an entire team.

[00:33:42] Like, you know, that was one of that was one of my quotes is I know she's always been a bit Randy, but I never thought she would fuck over an entire team.

[00:34:40] Milk fun.

[00:34:45] That one, Rupert says, the milk sisters aren't coming. Oh, did they expire?

[00:34:47] That one is my favorite.

[00:34:48] I wish that we would have seen them just once.

[00:34:54] The milk sisters?

[00:34:55] Yeah.

[00:34:56] Yeah.

[00:34:57] But I wanna make note of something

[00:34:58] and maybe I'm reading too much into this

[00:35:01] or maybe I'm not.

[00:35:02] I wanna see it's something that you picked up on.

[00:35:04] When Rupert walks in with Bex if she needs me. I call it what? Nadding. I don't know. I'm just going with my gut. I don't know. Just going with my gut. Like so when when when Rupert first approaches the bar and he takes that stance, I kind of looked at that in that sense. Again, could be just screen blocking. You know, I mean, maybe I, you know, it's it's not look. Is it is it over analyzing maybe, but with a show that's this fleshed out, is it intentional?

[00:36:28] Also maybe.

[00:36:29] Yeah. See, I have part of the scene played. I mean, do you want to just play the dart scene? Yeah, let's do that. It's a big scene. It is an amazing scene. Again,

[00:37:43] not to be a dead horse. It was painted on the wall there. It said, be curious, not judgmental. And I like that. So I get back in my car and I'm driving to work.

[00:39:00] And all of a sudden it hits me.

[00:39:03] All them fellas that used to belittle me.

[00:39:06] Not a single one of them were curious. Good game, Rubo. Come on, let's go. You are very lovely consolation prize. Rebecca, Ted, enjoy your evening. May I always... Come on, you shit! That felt good! That was fun. Yeah. Only one thing left to do now. What's that?

[00:40:22] What do I have to do?

[00:41:43] Zrichon! going to receive. She's not given out a lot right now. Yeah. I want to. So I want to look at this from a dart player for a second, because I have played tournament darts before the whole double in double out doubles in doubles out. Yep. I Ted wins in the end. This is a scene that not only does Ted is it great because Ted gets one over on Rupert for Rebecca. But this is also a moment where he kind of wins over the town a little bit.

[00:43:05] Yes. when the beats Rupert. Do you find yourself thinking that Baz, Jeremy and Paul are just like the major league fans in the stands? Cause every time I see them, I always think of Randy Quaid. Randy Quaid in major league too. They'll blow it in the playoffs. They will. They'll blow it in the playoffs.

[00:44:20] And then when they win, I told you guys.

[00:44:22] I told you guys.

[00:44:23] I told you in the preseason, we'd make it.

[00:44:25] Oh, they're totally Randy what? I'm left handed. Well, and you're right because that just shows Rupert's arrogance.

[00:45:41] Like he, we mentioned already like he knows get married, what's hers is mine. And

[00:47:00] what's mine is well, also mine because you know, that's

[00:47:04] disgusting. Yeah. That's chauvinistic at its core.

[00:48:03] was more for Rebecca than it was for Rupert.

[00:48:08] I would agree with that. I would agree with that completely because even when that moment where he says like, you know, when he played darts with his old man from age 10 up until 16

[00:48:13] up until he passed away, like it cuts to Rebecca and she has this look on her face of

[00:48:20] it. It's almost like a panic, maybe like a sad panic of she's realizing this man is not like,

[00:49:24] I agree. We see her loosen up a little bit because there is that moment after the dark game where Ted brings the team together to spell high boss on the team and she's very

[00:49:29] playful and she plays along with it. And then she seems happy and giddy because then she's

[00:49:34] going back into the mindset like, Oh, okay. Now, like Rupert's been embarrassed. Ted and

[00:49:40] I are okay, even though they're really not yet I completely agree. It's kind of like when you're like, you know, if you're a drunk, if you're a teenager out

[00:51:00] for a joyride and your parents car drinking and you crash, you have to come clean to your

[00:51:05] parents about what you did. Oftentimes you keep doing it until you get caught. Yep. And that's the situation that Rebecca's in right now. And she got caught. Yes. It's nice to see people get what they deserve really honestly. I love Rebecca. I love Rebecca Welton. I love this character so much. But it is so nice to see her get what she deserves at the end of this episode.

[00:52:23] It's awesome.

[00:52:24] Yeah.

[00:52:25] And it adds so much more emotion to what we're about to see next episode. in the press room because it's fun. Well, and I think that everything that they were talking about, the players were talking about, I mean, it totally goes to their characters 100%. Sam Obisanya saying that he wants to have responsible sponsorship is just such a Sam Obisanya thing to do.

[00:53:42] But then he's like, oh, yeah, but I also like things.

[00:53:44] So yeah, he's going to do things as well.

[00:53:46] But I think Macadjas has the best request. He does. He's just like this cute little golden retriever. He is the golden retriever of the team. Just joy. And like for a moment, I almost thought like, oh, this is a major step back for Kili. And I'm like, you know what, it really isn't. It's not a step back for Kili at all. If anything, it's almost a little bit of a step forward for Jamie, because he's still the cocky little prick

[00:57:25] is still a very important character to this series. So using him in this moment is a great way to kind of remind us Jamie still exists. He's still there. So let's not forget about Jamie. But again,

[00:57:32] it does, it gives us that little bit of element to the next part of this in which Roy having to

[00:57:38] deal with insecurity. And I want to say this is going to sound, I don't, to screw this up. But by saying that, Hugh has already been screwing it up because he didn't really know how to navigate this part of a relationship. And Keeley's just like, oh my gosh, I'm going to kill you. I just had sex with my ex-boyfriend to get back at you, like some kind of high schooler, and you were just being stupid too.

[00:59:01] Yeah.

[00:59:02] What that's what I mean.

[00:59:03] Like they both are making mistakes, but they're both owning up to the mistakes that

[00:59:07] they're making. adorable scene. I love all the independent woman. Independent woman Sunday. I've seen online edition. I thought that was wonderful. But also in that moment, Roy's playing along. Yeah. He would have never done that with anyone else. I like it that he's like fuck off. I'll see you on the pitch. No more questions. Yeah, you with the eyes.

[01:01:23] you know, as being a regular paparazzi. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:01:24] I do like the fact to when in before they have before Keeley and Roy have that press conference,

[01:01:32] the first time they're in that press conference room and she does she admits the whole thing

[01:01:38] about sleeping with Jamie right before that. And when Roy is admitting like, you know,

[01:01:42] I've been with a lot of people and you know, and for Roy, all in the same episode. There are three people benefited from the Diamond Dogs in the episode. It's only the third meeting of the Diamond Dogs.

[01:03:01] Two of them happen in this episode. Let's uh, let's take this into spoiler territory. It's only going to be a couple minutes. So you're not gonna have to skip very far ahead In fact, it's probably gonna be maybe two three minutes max at that But check the show notes to find out when you can come back in for that Now that we're in it, what's the one thing that you have for spoilers Roy's voice is just so high

[01:05:27] model. She's been in the business. She knows her way around the business. It's a really good next step for somebody like Keeley. And I think that it was perfectly in line with who she was and who she is

[01:05:34] as a character. And yeah, I totally agree. Yeah, this is good. This is a great point for Keeley.

[01:05:39] And we are seeing the beginning steps of the, that's not my breast milk pond. Oh no, did they expire? I have a couple others. Do you have any, do you wanna? The one that I haven't said is grow up and get over it. Which is Beards Advice to Roy. Beards Advice to Roy. And I think that it's good advice for everybody.

[01:07:02] Grow up and get over it.

[01:07:06] How about you?

[01:08:06] I'm not gonna lie. There you go. It's it is actually not a Walt Whitman quote. It's being misquoted to Walt Whitman But I don't care. It's it's sound advice no matter what

[01:08:10] The other two that I have actually come from Ted

[01:08:14] And let's see one of them is they're both to Roy. So they're both when Roy is in the diamond dogs getting advice

[01:08:22] First win is ooey sounds to me like someone caught someone's caught inside of

[01:09:29] So all right. Oh, and then there's also, and then there's also a reference to our dearly departed Matthew Perry by saying all this after all this Chandler banging. Yeah, which was

[01:09:36] kind of bitters, bittersweet to hear. Yes, I'll try and keep that. I hope I don't come across as angry because I'm not, but I do feel strongly about this. So bear with me.

[01:11:00] Michelle wasn't in love with Ted.

[01:11:02] She developed feelings for their marriage counselor and Dr. Jacob absolutely should have

[01:11:06] shut that down, but there isn't any understanding for what Michelle was dealing with. She had been in a marriage with someone she didn't want to be with for probably years

[01:12:21] at this point and was excited to be able to develop a relationship with someone she actually

[01:12:26] wanted to be with. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. And I don't want to pick it apart because you are entitled to your own opinion, of course. I will say that Ted already being divorced, signing the papers and then having a one-night stand with somebody, it is completely different than developing a relationship with your marriage therapist

[01:13:41] while you are still married.

[01:13:42] That is to me, that is very, very different.

[01:14:42] a chat, nothing negative. It's never been like, oh, like we hate you guys

[01:14:44] for your thoughts on this.

[01:14:45] It's just been their perspective of things.

[01:14:48] And that's fine.

[01:14:49] I just, you know, I have feelings and my feelings

[01:14:54] are because of the way that I grew up,

[01:14:56] the way and like the way that I view,

[01:15:01] the way that I view things, my lens and my perspective.

[01:15:03] So it's of course going to be different from somebody else,

[01:15:07] you know? know that we read it. And I'll probably, I'm going to save it. I'm going to save it for when we actually get a little further on in the series. And we talk about that. So that leads us into the Facebook feedback that we got in which we did get two things from some great people on feedback. So I will turn that over to you to read.

[01:16:21] Yay.

[01:16:22] OK.

[01:16:22] So our first piece of feedback is from Lindsey Schlecht.

[01:16:26] Hi, Lindsey. proposing marriage. I would have love love love this scene. Maybe the best of the series? Kristen, thank you for all the nice things you said last week. I have been hell yesing you since your early days on Game of Microphones, so I hardly agree with all the agreeing. I love her, she's great. Um, you want me to do the second one? Yeah, yeah, do the second one.

[01:18:45] jar of barbecue sauce, and he opens it up and he takes a lick of it and he says, there's nothing sweeter. That's kind of where that comes from. This was a sweet moment for Ted to win that game.

[01:18:53] So he uses the term barbecue sauce, which is great. I love it. It's a nice little call back to an earlier moment in the series.

[01:20:06] Oh, so Ted comes to see Rebecca and we have a bit of a continuity error because when he walks in the room her laptop is open She doesn't slam it shut but yet when he puts the biscuits down on the desk

[01:20:10] The laptop is shut and of course she invites him to the meeting with the milks the two percent milks

[01:20:16] For goth and Jamie was totally honest about her sleeping with Jamie the night before that

[01:20:21] Roy opens up to her about how he wants to go slow and doesn't want this to be a one-night stand

[01:21:26] This is one crappy thing that Rebecca has done since she became part of the team is she releases all these cities to man Sent meant tickets to man city course Keeley finds out about her

[01:21:31] Treachery with the pictures and gosh. This is kind of a low

[01:21:35] High to end this episode and then super low talk to you next week I

[01:21:41] I

[01:21:43] Forgot we learned more about Ted's dad

[01:22:45] and his quest to be an icon, that he just doesn't know how football works. And he wants Ted's acceptance and validation so bad that he is putting all his anger into

[01:22:56] Ted for what's going on in his life right now.

[01:22:59] So he's going through this really big transitional moment in his life, and you just have to be I would love to see John Hamm and Jason Sudhakas do a movie together. I think they would be gold. Were they play brothers? Yes. Right. A Thanksgiving themed movie. Because we need more of those. We do. I agree. I'm not saying that sarcastically. No, I know. We need more Thanksgiving movies. I know that it's, I know that you're being sincere because we were trying to make a list of Thanksgiving movies and we didn't get too far.

[01:24:25] No, no, we didn the summer or something like that. But for those of you who aren't happy thanksgiving to everybody, it's my favorite holiday in the world. I love thanksgiving so, so much. So happy thanksgiving.

[01:25:40] I was going to say that too. I'm glad you said it as well. Because at the time you're

[01:25:44] hearing this, the next time you'll be hearing this week. I'm really excited. And Jill and her family are coming for Thanksgiving. They arrive later today. That's awesome. Yeah. Yeah, I, where I go for Thanksgiving, it is required of me every year to bring my homemade mac and cheese because it is the bomb.

[01:27:02] I will happily admit that. Does it come from a blue box?

[01:27:05] No.

[01:27:06] Then it's not ham and turkey. Where I go, yeah, is also ham and turkey. So, and I usually eat more ham. I love turkey, but God, I love ham. Ham with spicy hot sweet mustard is my favorite.

[01:28:20] Well, we don't do the spicy hot mustard for Thanksgiving.

[01:28:24] Sweet hot mustard.

[01:28:25] I like the honey, like the honey baked.

[01:28:28] Yeah. Cream spinach, creamed corn, cranberries, pie. Cranberry sauce or cranberry jelly? I don't care. I don't. All right. All right. I just like the acidity of it because it's such a heavy meal that that cranberries, like it just brings in like a brightness and a tartness.

[01:29:40] So if you put it on everything, it just tastes delicious.

[01:29:44] And then, well, I could go on and on.

[01:29:47] We could have a whole separate podcast.
