Spider-Noir now has an official premiere date. The highly anticipated new series starring Nicolas Cage will debut globally on Prime Video on May 27, 2026, marking Cage’s first leading role in a television series.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video, the series will first premiere domestically on MGM+’s linear channel on May 25 before launching worldwide as a binge release two days later across more than 240 countries and territories.
One of the more intriguing elements of the rollout is how audiences will be able to watch it. Spider-Noir will stream in two distinct formats: “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color,” giving viewers the option to experience the 1930s-set superhero story in classic noir style or in modern color.
Based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, the live-action series follows Ben Reilly, played by Cage, a seasoned and down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York. Forced to confront his past following a deeply personal tragedy, Reilly must grapple with the reality that he is also the city’s one and only masked hero. The premise leans heavily into the moody, detective-driven tone that made the comic version stand out, and translating that aesthetic into live action is something I’m especially curious to see play out.
The series features an impressive ensemble cast, including Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson, along with a slate of guest stars. With that level of talent attached, it’s clear Prime Video and Sony are treating this as more than just another comic book adaptation.
Behind the camera, Emmy Award-winning director Harry Bradbeer directs and executive produces the first two episodes. Co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot serve as executive producers and developed the series alongside the Academy Award-winning creative team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse — Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Cage also serves as an executive producer.
For viewers who want a first look, Prime Video has released both a Black & White teaser and a True-Hue Full Color teaser, giving audiences a sense of the stylistic direction.
